Ok, so I just got a new keyboard today, and wanted to know, what is the Most popular keyswitch on the LTT forum?

Hi there. I've posted on this issue before, that my keyboard started to doubletype after 2 years of use. I fixed it with a tiniest bits of silicon grease, but now this thing is happening again. I tried to clean it with compressed air - it didn't help. This thing can appear and go away randomly, but it always happens to the most used keys (like spacebar, etc). It looks like the contact in the switch is not 'straight', so there's some kind of click interval. I have already replaced 2 switches with new ones, and they felt a lot easier to push. Idk why this thing exists there, because it's a cherry mx brown switch. All of my buddies, who have kbs with cherry mx, have had them for 3+ years and never were in that situation. Some options that I have for now: 1) give up 2) disassemble switch and try to find out any answers 3) get a new kb and smash this with a hammer couple hundreds times Thanks. P.S. if it does make any sense, this is a tt poseidon illuminated kb, 1st gen.

Is there a good priced, high quality Cherry MX switch keyboard at a price below 50 dollars USD? I'd prefer amazon.com links if possible

Title says it all. Just interested in what peripherals you guys are using or would like to use. I'll start, I'm using the Logitech G810 and the Logitech G502. They're personally my favourite as I enjoy the Romer G experience and are comfortable to use. I used to use some cheap Cooler Master keyboard I bought at Insomnia 55 (a UK gaming festival if you don't know). ps. I'd be interested in what @LinusTech, @Slick, @nicklmg, @CPotter, @jmart604, @TaranLMG and @jakkuh_t like to use.

Hi, I'm looking for a tenkeyless RGB mechanical keyboard with preferably cherry Mx speed or razer yellow, still keeping my options open. Currently looking at Corsair k65 and razer black widow TE. Price should be around £120. Many thanks

While I had some juice on my table, my cat knocked it over... I cleaned my keyboard (G710+) right after the incident and it still works fine. However, some juice seems to have gotten inside the switches, which now means that some keys take about 3 seconds to come up again because they're gunked up inside... So, now that I've called Logitech support, they've told me they can't do anything about it. I don't really want to buy a new keyboard, so I thought about cleaning the inside of those MX browns, but I don't know how... I am now looking for a way to do that, if that won't work, help with replacing the switches themselves would be nice too.

Hello all, I'm looking to get my first mechanical keyboard, but unfortunately I'm pretty strapped for cash at the moment. I'm wondering what your experience has been with "alternative" mechanical switches, as they tend to be a lot cheaper than the Cherry equivalents. Which ones have you used? How did they compare? Any recommendations? I'm aiming to get something with brown or brown-ish switches, the cheaper the better. Any and all advice or input is appreciated, thanks!

So I'm trying to decide which Cherry switch to get, and none of the key switch testers online include a Speed (Silver) switch. I've tried looking around to buy one individually but the best I could find was 10 switches on AliBaba for $30 (I only need one). Anyone have any ideas where I might find a Cherry MX Speed switch?

Hi, I have these two alternatives:http://www.ttesports.com/Keyboard/201/POSEIDON_Z_RGB_Brown_Switch_Edition_/productPage.htm?a=a&g=ftr#.WJAkU9V96Ukhttp://gskill.com/en/product/ripjaws-km570-mx--cherry-mx-redWhere I live, these two are available within my budget and they cost the same(~100$). Gaming would be my first priority with typing being a close second. Now Pros of g.skill KM570 MX for me:1. Cherry MX Switches2. Available on Cherry MX Red which are supposedly better for FPS and fast-paced games though this is a very subjective verdict. Brown and Blue are also available.Cons:1. No RGB or software customization.2. Hardly any review online apart from guru3d.com maybe because this keyboard is quite new.Pros of Thermaltake Poseidon Z RGB:1. Basically from its feature sets like RGB lighting, keyboard customization by software, cable routing etc - it feels like a product of a higher-price category sold in mid-range price.2. Has lots of reviews online - mostly positive - implying its a trendy keyboard.Cons:1. Kailh switches (its supposedly inferior to Cherry MX though again its very subjective)2. Poseidon Z is not available on Kailh Red. Only Brown and Blue are available.I am coming from a normal membrane keyboard. So I've literally no experience typing on a mechanical one. Though I do have spent good 6/8 hours researching on various key types, brands etc. Also just before publishing here I read that:https://www.furiouspaul.com/articles/cherry-mx-keyboard-switches.htmlIt basically says Red/Black switches are worse for gaming compared to the Brown/Blue !! It's all gettting so confusing...So which one would you prefer of the two and why?? Your opinion would be much appreciated. Also I want to know your thoughts on the "cherry mx brown or red" topic. I know its an endless subjective debate and has already read a lot about it online. Still just because I've never used a mechanical keyboard and its not possible for me to test the keys before buying, any feedback on "brown vs red" topic will be welcome. Hi everyone, I've been in and out of the tech world for some time now, but I'm coming backing into it again. Before I used to game quite frequently, now I rarely play more than 1 hour a week. Now I'm much more focused in work and I have been wanting a mechanical keyboard for some time now. I have been considering a Cherry MX Blue or Brown, but I think I'm leaning over to the Blues. I don't share a room with anyone so the noise won't bother anyone else. I've tested out the Blackwidow and those Kahil Greens are really similar to Blues(at least most people say they are) and the noise of those doesn't both me. I have been trying to find a keyboard with Blues for some time now, and I just can't seem to find the right one. All I need is a backlight, a Number pad, wrist rest and a non-gamery font. That's it, and it's unbelievably hard to find this. Can anyone recommend me a reliable keyboard to use over then next few years?

Hi, I'm getting the Corsair K95 RGB. I do a lot of video editing but I also love playing games for long durations on the weekends. I play games of almost any genre and I sometimes type up long research papers. What type of key switch would you suggest for me? The Cherry MX Reds or Cherry MX Browns? I need something truly for all-purpose use. Thank you.

So the other day I bought a used G710+, some of the keycaps are broken and I'd like to find replacements for them, or maybe just replace them all. But I'm having a hard time finding a keycap set in the UK/IRL that are iso, black and translucent. Most of the ones I find are in the US or they're not translucent, or not black. I found these ( https://goo.gl/rb65fm ) but they are in the US and I'm not sure about the fully translucent look, especailly on a keyboard with only white backlighting. I though of buying a broken G710+ and stealing the caps but they're hard to find. Do ant of you have some advice on what to do?

Hey guys, So I recently purchased a corsair K70 LUX RGB with cherry mx red keyswitches. I was switching off of a keyboard which had blues, I liked the tactile feel but felt they were a little too hard to press for gaming when i needed to quickly tap keys. I was unaware that reds did not possess the tactile feedback left by browns and blues, and I am looking to return this keyboard in favor of the K70 with Brown switches. I am wondering, what kind of fees would I be looking at to return it? It's only about 2-3 hours under use, and i have all the original packaging and accessories that came with it. It costed approximately $190 CAD (145 USD) and about 10 dollars for expedited shipping. Would I be paying for return shipping? any stocking fees? Thanks in advance guys.

i currently own a logitech g710+ keyboard you know brown switches and i think its finally taking a toll on my left pinky and giving me some tendonitis. i play games like rust which require me to hold the shift or ctrl key down for many minutes at a time and the fact the build quality on the wider keys is sorta sub par upsets me as since i have small hands my pinky has to awkwardly extend out and tap the corner of shift or control and as we all know the keys down just slide down easily like this. so im interested in selling t his keyboard now and buying a red switch keyboard for fps and my tendons sake. anyone know of a keyboard with this? you know like well built keys that down gyrate on its axis so much are firm yet still don't require extra actuation no matter where you press it? im aiming to buy anything in the 95$ range. thank you.

So, my steelseries 6gv2 is finally dying after 5 ish years of hard use and a few spills and its time to replace it. With the time of years it is it seems a good time to replace it with something different rather than by another one. I like the feel of cherry mx blacks and the design of the 6gv2. I need it to be avaliable in a UK layout as cant get along wiith the different enter key on US layout and have owned a black widow ultimate stealth and didnt like the feel of the swithches. Also ten-keyless is not an option as i need the numberpad. Backlighting is also a desire of mine. Feel free to hurl your suggestions at me. Price is not a major issue. Thanks in advance

I'm mainly going to be using this keyboard at work. I work as a Web Security Engineer mainly writing Python code. I picked up a Mechanical Key Switch tester a few days ago and the Cherry MX Blue switch felt the nicest to type on and felt very fast to actuate which is what I'd like. I did a search around on Amazon for Blue switch keyboards but I can't seem to find any with the UK layout (that one with the really big enter key). All recommendations are welcome. Thanks!

Hey Guys/ Girls, I'm currently having my finals and I have to do many calculations as part of my CIE exams. One thing I have noticed is that I make alot of errors in typing my calculations into my Casio FX-82MS which is due to my being time pressured and the keys on the calculator being relatively unresponsive. I had this idea awhile back and figured I'd do it as a summer project, I'd like to buy some Cherry MX keys off ebay, a cheap calculator and numpad. Break it apart and create a mechanical key calculator, maybe with LED lights just for the fun of it, I have a pile of unused powerbanks which I could also open up or just power the calculator with a usb cable. Just wanted to see if anyone in the LTT community had any ideas to contribute or any tips. Pls No Roast

I am getting a new keyboard to replace my failing K65 with Cherry Reds. I want to move to a more tactile switch, like Cherry Blue's, but I am worried that my friend who I play a lot of games with will get annoyed with the sound. I type very heavily, so the sound of my Red's bottoming out is already quite loud, will the click of the blues be significantly louder? Thanks

I decided to buy a mechanical keyboard First off all, i dont know what switches i like more, blues or browns. I like clicky ones, i've felt razer greens, and i fancied them, i heard they are simular to cherry mx blues, but everyone says for gaming and beat games (like osu!) cherry mx browns are much more better. Second of all, i don't know which keyboard to get from CM storm line - CM storm TK, XT, Rapid-i, or Ultimate. They cost all about the same price take or give, but i dont know about quality. I dont care if its ten-keyless, or with 10 keys, and layout is the same for all of them. Is there any difference between them? If i dont buy cm storm line, i think the next option would be Corsair Strafe. What do you think about it? Need help with somebody who has an experience with mechanical keyboards Thanks ! yzzy ;(
