Hey fist time on this forum I'm planning to switch from an atx z170-a to a itx z170i pro gaming motherboard, both asus, because i want to downsize to a smaller case that is easy to carry with me when i go to lans. I have tried to research what to expect when swapping out your motherboard and its hard to get any information on if it's possible without a totalt restart of your OS. I really like my OS setup now and coming from an apple background i find it very frustrating that i would have to start from scratch. so my question is: 1. can you swap a motherboard without having to do a total reset of OS. (keep in mind they are both asus, dont know if that has any influence) 2. if not is there any way to make a safety copy of your settings and programs that you can install on a reset OS. (like you can do with an apple). 3. how does it work with windows keys if i have to reinstall my os? i have my old key, but can i use it again or will i have to buy a new one? Hope someone has some experience with this -
So just like the title says, have you? I ask because I've just been called by some guy at a store I buy most things from, and he politely and without directly saying I have to, asked me to modify an old review to a product to which I gave a negative review. Now I've figured that's probably because next week is black friday and that store wants to put that item at a discount, but seeing that it has bad reviews people won't buy it. My review isn't the only negative one. Now has anything like this ever happened to you guys? -
Hi everybody. I spent an awfull amount on money making my dream machine, but and thats a big BUT. I bought the EVGA G3 850W since the spec said it would't start fan spinning until my computer reached a 400watts powerdraw. The truth is that if i run it in "eco" mode, the fan starts spinning full speed hairblower style in desktop mode. 2 times everyhour just surfing the web. I took this supply since all the awesome reviews it got from reputable reviewers out there. the specs says it has a 130mm fan Hydraulic Dynamic Bearing. And they leave a 10 year warranty. I've never sen such fan last 10 years. And i could take it if the fan was on low in none eco mode. But now eco mode is off and the fan is like a loud crappy fan at 1000rpm. I do know, that i shouldn't open it up for a change of fan since there is danger in it. But have anyone tried to open it up for a fan change? 130mm isn't standard. if anyone? is it possible to mount a silent 120/140mm in it?

I've been looking into buying a Bitfenix Pandora mATX but I'm not mad about the brushed aluminium finish. Would it be possible to sand down or have it anodized or some other process to change the finish without it looking really bad and inconsistent? That's pretty ambitious I know but yeah.

Is it possible to change my username anywhere? I'm currently trying to change all my usernames to more or less match. Wanted to change it to "_Val" if its not taken already. I may have asked this already, if so, I think an admin had to change it.

Hey guys I just git my Razer Blade Stealth and eomehow there is a black stripe on the bottom of the screen because the resolution is not calibrated correctly. Can someone tell me how to do this? I can not change it in the options. It's grey and in (recommended) resolution already. Thanks in advance.

Hello to all, I want to change my Dell XPS9570 after some issues/bugs I've been going through, that neither me nor Dell could fix up to his point. So I'm asking for an alternative, which should just be slightly better than this laptop, considering a proper, not oversaturated, display, no crackling sound and no slow Wi-Fi issues. Price can go up as about this one, so around 3.200€. Currently I'm running the Intel Core i9 8950HK Model, with 1050Ti Graphics, the (grossly oversaturated) 4K Infinity Edge touch display, 32GB RAM and 1TB of NVME Storage. What I need the laptop for / what is important for me: - portability (this one is light enough and has a nice form factor) - battery life (this one has a nice battery life imo, depending of course what you do) - need to run casual games (mostly DotA2) - need to use Office/Adobe Suite occasionally/ArchiCAD and some light rendering/watching Netflix - thin bezels would be nice - I would really like to be able to open it with one finger (like a MacBook, just not a MacBook ?) What I don't need - a touch display - a oversaturated display - bad, crackling sound - slow Wi-Fi (sometimes I want to game over Wi-Fi as it is more comfortable, i.e. if I want to game in a room that does not have a port access - I know its not ideal, but I've been gaming of Wi-Fi on my older machines couple of years ago and it went fine, never had any major problems, as with this one) - I don't think I need a i9 necessarily for what I do, an i7 should be fine I think. I hope this is not too much I'm asking for. Happy and grateful for every suggestion! Cheers, Richard?

How can i change an apps name? Like not the apk's name, the apps name. For example you download an apk named "Instagram Lite" but when you install it, on the home screen it says "Lite" Well i want to change the "Lite" part. Not the "Instagram Lite" part if that makes sence.

Hey guys I got a new mainboard and a new cpu ryzen 2700x and an Asrock b450m steel legend After the changes from Intel i56600k and my old Mainboard the pc doesnt Boots in the BIOS or anything else is one they screen but the pc makes booting sounds My other components Gtx 1060 asus 6gb 550w corsair 1tb HDD Wraith prism cooler (also new. I'm looking to change or upgrade my cpu cooler. acording to msi afterburner my cpu and gpu can get tempatures to 70 tot 80 degrees under load from new games, also it happens a few times that my ssd gets overheated from the heat and makes my pc go bluescreen and on restart saying that i have no boot drive. my pc boot normally agein after taking of the side panels let it cool off. This alredy happend a few times and im getting tired of it so i was hoping to change it to a AIO liquid cooler. these are my parts that i'm currently using: -------------PC SPEC---------------- CPU: Intel i7-6700k GPU: aorus rx 580 8gb RAM: Kingston 16GB 1600MHz DDR3 CPU cooler: be quiet! shadow rock 2 Motherboard: MSI z170A pc MATE ATX LGA1151 Storage: Samsung SSD 750 EVO 250 GB WD Blue 1 TB 7200 RPM PSU: Cooler Master G550M 80+ bronze case: NZXT Phantom 410 (im looking towards a 120 rad to 240 rad (that fits in my case) AIO liquid cooler and my budget is 80 - 100 euro (RGB is not really needed) ) edit: if you are saing that its a airflow isue i know my cpu cooler takes most of my space in my case so this is why i whant to upgrade to a AIO cooler but dont know wich one to get with my mobo and cpu edit 2: also around christmas or early 2020 i'm looking to upgrade my cpu, modo and ram so if i get better cooler in advence i dont have to worry in the future to get that upgradet.

Hello everyone and thanks in advance for stopping by this thread. I am in the process of buying a new monitor since i want to experience 144fps and a better quality overall in my games. It anyone is interested to know, i am from Argentina, maybe this clarifies some things about prices listed here. PC specs: -CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x -RAM: 16GB 3200mhz -GPU:GTX 1060 6GB -Screen: Samsung Smart TV 40" 4K Display I am well aware that a giant tv is not the best for gaming, since i am mainly playing LoL(1080p) and CS:GO (1024x768 i think). Basically i want to play the same games but at a much higher refresh rate to try to improve in those games. I have heard that the high fps can help a lot, specially in CS:GO. I will not sell the TV to rise my budget, that is important. My first option is the Asus VG248QZ 144hz 1ms GTG 1080p monitor, i can get it for 400U$D (yes, it is expensive, every piece of hardware is where i live). I read plenty of reviews and there are mixed opinions about this monitor and i would like some more if you have. I would buy this monitor at a local shop with warranty and all. My second option is the Acer KG271 Cbmidpx 27" Full HD 1920x1080 144Hz 1ms but there are some things to consider, such as the provider. I would buy this monitor directly from NewEgg for 400U$D also but the problem is, that if the monitor has any problem at all, i would have to ship it back to USA and that is pretty expensive. I can get any monitor from NewEgg considering it's price, so if you have a better recommendation feel free to leave it in a comment down below please. You couldn't know it's final price but if it is as cheap as 170U$D i can give it a look. Thank you all very much again, and pardon me for my english if there is any typo.

Hello all, This is my first post on the forum and I would like to know if anyone has any advice for me with regards to changing in career. Long story short I am in healthcare it sucks and I would like to move to IT security. I have been told that the CompTia Security+ is the way to go. does anyone else know if this is a good place to start? Also I would like to know how do people get experience as all the jobs in the field seem to want 3-5 years experience. Any advice would be grand. :) Ultirian

The stage was finally set, Murdock was in the right place, and with Nvidia launching the first GPUs capable of Real Time Ray Tracing (RTX), the time was right too. For those not familiar with RTX, it is considered the greatest graphical leap in recent history, with Tom's Hardware's esteemed Editor in Chief saying "If these cards deliver even half of what they promise, you won't want to settle for last-gen technology" and "Just Buy It". As you can imagine Murdock was bursting with glee, going as far to say "What's the point of living without Ray Tracing", and in front of a massive live audience, Murdock finally mustered up the courage to ask permission to review this unprecedented new technology, finally realizing his life's purpose. Moments later though, tragedy struck. Murdock's request was carelessly shot down by Linus Sebastian, @LinusTech (claimed CEO of Linus Media Group, but we all know he's simultaneously paid by Intel, AMD and Nvidia). Imagine a balloon popping in deep space - complete silence - as everything this poor balloon has ever known gets cast out into the void, eternally scattering into the universe, forever forgotten - the look on Murdock's face was like that, times ten. But it doesn't need to be this way, we can make a change. Sign this petition, let Linus know that we won't stand for his callous disregard for others feelings, and that we believe that Riley Murdock will do an incredible job reviewing graphics cards. It's not too late people, if we band together we can defeat the evil Linus, and once again give Murdock a reason to be alive. Since the incident, Murdock has said "When I'm 99 years old and lying on my deathbed, I'll think back and say, 'Oh my gosh, I didn't have Ray Tracing for 6 months'", but with your help, he can instead lie on his deathbed in peace, please sign the petition.

Hello everyone! I got an advanced question today! Well, advanced as in I can't figure it out myself and no website I've visited had any helpful information. Background: I'm theming my desktop and such on my HP Omen gaming laptop to black and red to match the chassis of the laptop, and I'm trying to change the icons to red. I've already made custom icons for several of my most used apps, and I was able to change my desktop icons and the non-UWP taskbar icons to the ones I've made. Photos attached showing laptop chassis, desktop, and taskbar for visualization of why I want to do this. Problem: The UWP apps on my taskbar will not allow me to change the icons, meaning the custom icons clash with the UWP ones. (Especially the Facebook Messenger icon; it's freaking hideous) I've tried a few things, and none work. I opened "...AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar" and only the non-UWP apps show up. I've tried a couple other similar locations with no avail. I even tried going into the apps' data to change the icon by directly replacing the files, but Windows wouldn't let me paste, despite giving every single user Full Access in the security properties, and taking ownership of the folders as Admin. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks!

How to choose E:\ as standard drive when opening the command line?

Hey guys, when opening the command line I always get C:\ as my standard harddrive in the command line which causes me always to go back and switch the drive because I drop all my codes on E:\. So is there any way to have E:\ as standard harddrive there? Another question of mine is how can I just get, when clicking right click inside a folder, the option to open the command line? I had this before reinstalling windows but I don't know how I set this up before. Thank you in advance!! -
I have an eMachine E202HL 20 inch monitor, i got it for free as a second monitor, don't judge. I was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible or how to change the led on the power button. It is green if the monitor is on and orange if it has no signal. If the monitor is off, obviously, the led is off. My entire PC has a red and black color scheme, and this green led is sticking out like a sore thumb. Any help is appreciated, thanks!
