Which are the best slient 140mm fans for the wallet? Plan on using it with a Define R5. I´ve heard the Slient Wings 3 are good but I need 3 of them so that´s gonna cost a bit.

Hello, Sitting at my PC today, I was thinking, Should I keep my Case Fans on Auto or Manual Speed? I have an NZXT S340 as my case, a Rosewill 140mm and an NZXT 120mm for exhaust, and an NZXT 120mm and a Corsair 120mm as intake. I keep them maxed out at their highest speeds. Is that necessary, or can I leave them on auto? They are a little loud. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hey guys i came to realized that my chasis doesnt have any case fans, (will be buying one exhaust fan soon) however atm i have decided to leave my side panel of my chasis open for potentially cooler cpu temps? Is my action going to be of any help at all in terms of cpu temp? also can anyone recomend me a good case fan thats decently priced and 80mm ? tq

I'm in need of some 140mm PWM fans with good acoustics but with hopefully a lower price point. The ones I've been looking at are the be quiet! Pure Wings 2 but their max rpm is only 1000 and I'm curious if that's a good max or if I should look for something slightly higher. I wish I could afford some nice fancy Noctua's but I'm a college student and having to kinda pinch pennies here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hey guys! I hope you can help. So I was cleaning my PC recently, and I noticed that there dust particles that are too big to pass through the filtered fan intake that is on front of my case, not to mention, that I have a 360 mm rad in front, that should act as a filter too. (somewhat) So I did a bit of research about it, found a vid from an unamed youtuber (name starts with a "J") Which is about airflow in your case. And that negative air pressure is the culprit, since it forces air in to unfiltered openings in your case. So here is my fan lay out. 3x - 120 mm SP fans front 2x - 140 mm stock case fan top 1x -140 mm stock case fan rear 2x - 70 mm AF fans rear Right away, you can see the ration of the fans will give out a negative pressure. I am not looking at adding fans for intakes. What type should I go for? SP or AF? Not that 3 of them will be mounted at the rad, for a push and pull set up. Thanks!

Perhaps I'm just overthinking, but this is truly the most frustrating part of designing my own PC. I'll put 4x Noctua NF-S12A fans into my case. I've got two problems with this. First, I'm not sure which version to go with, the PWM (4-pin PWM) or the FLX (3-pins). As far as I can understand, a PWM fan's speed can be controlled through UEFI or some application, and can adjust itself to the temperatures, while the 3 pin one can't be. Is it correct? I've just ordered an ASUS Z170 Pro motherboard, which looks like this: http://www.tweaktown.com/image.php?image=imagescdn.tweaktown.com/content/7/5/7592_06_asus-z170-pro-intel-motherboard-review_full.jpg The issue is, that I have no idea how many 4 and 3 pin thingies my motherboard has, plus some of them say CPU, or extension, or whatever. I'm completely lost here. I'm pretty sure that one socket is reserved for the CPU cooler fan. The specs of the motherboard: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z170-PRO/specifications/ These are the connectors on the Z170 pro: 1 x CPU Fan connector(s) (1 x 4 -pin)1 x CPU OPT Fan connector(s) (1 x 4 -pin)2 x Chassis Fan connector(s) (4 x 4 -pin) ----------------> 2 x 4 x 4 ?! What?! 1 x 5-pin EXT_FAN(Extension Fan) connector How can I use these things? The 5-pin one is the one where anything can go? Which NF-S12A version should I choose, if I want to fit four of these noctuas onto the Z170 Pro, and make them adjust their speed automatically? The articles on the web quite often contradict each other, and they require deeper knowledge than I have. So they're a bit useless. Thanks for any help. Matt

I recently bought 4 enermax magmas from frys electronics. i was just wondering if i should use them for my case fans or on a rad (240mm) in push pull

Hi guys,i am just start checking a all in one cooler for my cpu (i5 7600k) so i would like to ask advice which cooler to choose to help reduce temperature while overclocking and gaming..I dont want to spend alot. The case i use nzxt noctis 450 mid tower. Thanks for any help. Aswell at my case is 4 fans 3 intake in the front 120mm and 1 pull off at the back 140mm does it help from dust at all or i have to move some?

I just bought some Arctic case fans (2* 140mm & 1* 120mm). I have a nzxt s340 and I'm trying to mount to fans on the front and top but I fail to see how the screws in the picture can be use to mount them. Do i need to get different screws or are these what I'm supposed to have?

I'm looking for some suggestions for fully black or black/grey 120mm/140mm case fans that are as close to completely silent as possible (particularly with regard to bearing/motor noise). I bought Be Quiet! 140mm Pure Wings 2 PWM fans, and they made a rattling noise from the motor that was irritating from 1 meter away, so I returned them and bought Corsair AF140 Quiet Edition fans, which ended up rattling about 3 times as loud. My CPU cooler included a 135mm SilentWings 3 fan from Be Quiet! and it is 100% silent until I get close enough to nearly chop my ear off. However both Amazon and Newegg are out of stock of the non high speed SilentWings 3 fans. I considered the black Noctua IndustrialPPC fans, but they only come in 2000 and 3000 rpm, and I've heard it is next to impossible to get them truly silent. My requirements are that the fans, enclosures, mounts, and cables must be fully black or black with dark grey accents (colored stickers are fine), 120mm or 140mm, have 0 motor/bearing noise, and I would prefer to pay $30USD or less per fan (though at this point I may be willing to sacrifice my first-born child). I know I'm picky, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

How do case fans work? do you put some of them so that the air blows into the case and then others blow air out? for example heres a picure i will make x = fans, I = Case, arrows = the way the air is going from the fan _________________________ / x ---------> x ---> I I x --------> I I I__________________________I if this is the case then i would install some of my fans to blow inwards and the others outwards right? and whats with the labeling of "static pressured" and such?

i'm looking for a case that would match the color scheme of this build. i showed it to my friend and he said the black case doesn't fit with the parts of the build. i thought the black of the phanteks luxe (black edition) looked good considering my ram was black and blue and my case fans were black and blue leds/blue trim. the only thing white is my motherboard which is white and blue with the pcb being black. so idk what to do. should i get the white phanteks luxe? or should i stick with the black one. or maybe i should go with a completely different case. Either way i already have all the parts besides the case so i'm looking for a full tower case to show off these goods with a side window. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vnR2bj

Hi guys. Can anyone give me a bit of info regarding getting some extra case fans? Link to the planned build is here: http://nz.pcpartpicker.com/list/wkmmFd A couple notes about the build list: Please note it is in NZD, and the pricing has not been optimized as yet - but don't concern yourself with that side of things now. I'm looking at getting either the Phanteks Evolv ATX TG case, or the H440 from NZXT. Evolv ATX would be my favourite really. I believe from memory the Evolv comes with 1 exh. and 2 intake fans on the front panels. It has a fan port hub that can have I think 6 fans attached to it. The TG version also has an RBG controller for the case and LED strip lighting. The H440 with 1 exh. and 3 intake fans on the front panel. This one from memory has a fan hub that can attach 10 fans. The Z170-A board I have selected, may in fact not be available in NZ for some unknown reason. Instead there is a Z170-AR that i'm not sure what the difference actually is. The Z170-A has I beleive 4x 4-pin headers, +1 for the CPU cooler, and 1 that could go to a fan hub - presumably the one fitted to the case. Ignore all the fans in the parts list - I just added them since for some reason partpicker won't bring case fans marked as favourites to the top of the parts list like it does for other items. The power requirements of the PC are also artificially bloated because of this. Feel free to correct any of those details - going from memory here. However what I would really like to know is, are either cases compatible with LED fans? I mean, do the LED fans just have 1 colour that is powered on whenever the computer is powered on? Does this work for plugging them in the case fan hub or if you connect them directly to the motherboard? One in particular I looked at was the AP121 from Silverstone. These I would mount on the front intake area. I don't really need RGB fans, just 1 colour would do (going for an andestite grey case with blue lighting most likely). Alternatively I know there is the Z170 Pro Gaming Aura MB from Asus - but again can't confirm when/if that will be available in NZ. In the end my priorities would be Cooling Noise Level (doesn't need to be silent but needs to be reasonable) Aesthetics like lighting If you have advise for any case fans at all (doesn't need to be LED related) i'm happy to hear it as well. Thanks all.

I have an nzxt s340 elite, it comes with two fans- rear and top. Should I get an extra fan for intake and use both of those as exhaust? What's the best method of cooling and is buying 1 more fan necessary?

Hi there, folks, I'm new here so sorry if this is a topic that had been beaten to death, but I'm trying to improve my temps and I'm not sure how to tackle the case air flow. Here's my build: https://builds.gg/builds/novus-regnum-13696 The case is SilentiumPC Regnum RG4T which has place for 3 front, 2 top and 1 rear 120mm fans (with top and front having a space for rad as well). Top and front have dust filters, rear doesn't, so I wouldn't want to use it as intake. What I have to work with are 3 120mm case fans and one 240mm rad (AOI CPU cooler). My current configuration is 2 case fans in front (bottom 2 slots) as intake, 1 case fan in the rear and the rad on top as outtake. I'm generally happy with my temps, but I do notice 4-5 °C increase in CPU temp between CPU only load and combined load (CPU+GPU), which makes me think, that having the rad as an outtake isn't a good idea. I was thinking about doing rad in front as intake and all the case fans as outtakes (top and rear), but I'm not sure the rad would create enough air flow and it would blow warm air right at the GPU (although this triple-fan 2060 seems to run pretty cool). I don't exactly have time to go experiment with bunch of configurations, so I wanted to get your opinions on what would be the best setup. Should I keep it the way it is or try something else? P.S.: I'd like to stick with the fans I have, since I can't buy this particular fan standalone (for some reason SPC only sells it with this case) and it would really bug me having to mix and match. Plus I don't want to make this build any louder than it already is.

Hi Guys. The documentation that came with my case leaves a lot to be desired and the manufacturer's website has no documentation or manuals at all. My case is supposed to have 3 RGB fans with a remote. I believe I have identified the hub the fans are plugged into. There is a cable labeled power coming from this hub, but I don't see any place in which to plug it in. Here are photos of the 3 relevant sides. Any idea what I am supposed to plug it into? Thank you.

Hey I just switched my case from a corsair 500r to a phanteks P400 and I put an AIO in it too. everything went well until i started gaming on it and realized that my case fans went full blast. It was the loudest I had ever heard my PC go. At first i thought it may have been my CPU overheating. When I went to check my CPU temps I saw it was in the 30-34c range. I'm guessing that is not that hot since the average cpu temps for gaming is 75-80c. The same goes for my GPU. That's when I realized that it was my case fans. It only does this when i'm playing a game. I have not tried it with any other games. As of now i've been playing csgo. I tried setting my case fans to silent mode from the BIOs but it still kicked into high gear when gaming. Then I tried to use fan tuning on Fan Xpert 4 but that just made my case fans just outright stop working. Anybody have ant clue as to what to do? These fans sound like my PC is about to have critical failure but all my temps say otherwise. P.S. idk if this is worth pointing out but my last case had the fans connect to its own fan speed controller. This case now has no fan speed controller and is connected directly to motherboard P.P.S. I really appreciate everyone's input and help.

Not sure if to get those Arctic P12 PWM Pst Or those Arctic F12 PWM Pst Using corsair obsidian 500d case Case With be quiet dark rock 3 air cooler https://www.quietpc.com/bq-bk018 (Planning to buy a value pack which is 5 fans pack) (Thinking that the p12 will be better for me because the way my case is built and that it will focus the air to my cpu cooler and gpu) (Main difference in the pic)

So recently my pc was upgraded with a new mobo, CPU and RAMs, however, the case fan that was in the case was not added back in by the time I got my pc back? Should I put it back in or are case fans just not necessary? What would the reason be for not putting it back in? Just forgot? My temps are: CPU goes up to 67 while playing, idles at ~55C, GPU is pretty much the same. Gigabyte Aorus Elite motherboard, AMD 2700X CPU, 16GB Vengeance LPX RAM, AMD 580 8GB GPU. Windows 10 Pro. Switched from Gigabyte H81M-S2H mobo, i7-4790 locked CPU, and whatever those previous rams were. Honestly I have no idea.

I've got the Cooler Master H500 case, and it comes with 2 fans which have a shared 3-pin cable. I can control the 4-pin CPU fan (Wraith Stealth) through ASUS' fan monitoring software (Fan Xpert) but I can't seem to control the H500 front intake fans. I can only completely stop them by enabling the Silent Mode. However, I can't control their RPM or RPM curves in anyway. That's because they're 3-pin fans, so they don't support PMW, but is there any way around this? They seem to be running at full speed all the time. Is there any method through which I can control the RPM and RPM curves for the case fans flexibly such that I'd make a balanced preset between the CPU fan and Case fans? NOTE: For some reason, these case fans are labeled "AIO Pump" in both the BIOS and the Fan Xpert Software. Additionally, the rear outtake fan isn't recognized at all by neither the BIOS nor Fan Expert, yet all 3 case fans are working perfectly well.

Hello fellow enthusiasts, Aeruu here ! So, after browsing for a while, I finally gathered enough strength to register and to ask my questions ! Basically, I want to buy a new PC case that will host a Crosshair VI HERO, a Noctua NH-D14 and a Gigabyte RTX 2080. So I want it BIG, I previously had a Coolermaster HAF X for almost a decade : => https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/cases/full-tower/haf-x/#Specifications I really liked the HAF X, good Airflow and a lot of space to build / maintain. The only downside, The DUST ! I have a lot of dust at home, between the dog and the wife, hairs everywhere !... The case will be sitting on the floor (I'm currently thinking on a way to raise it for about 15cm, I could use some advice on this too !) The conditions are as follow: Price range: 350€ max. Full Tower. Dust filters ? No need for flashy RGB, I am not a fan, and I will not display it (Better playing on it than staring at it , that's the way I see it !) Dimensions : Approx. same as the HAF X I'm living in France, so EU store ? The results of my search directed me towards the Phanteks Enthoo Luxe 2: => http://www.phanteks.com/Enthoo-Luxe-2.html But the downside is... No case fans ! So here goes my second question, what kind of case fans for the Phanteks Enthoo Luxe 2 ? I was thinking about 7x140mm Fans (3 front, 3 top, 1 rear), and 2x120mm Fan for the bottom. I already have a stock 140mmFan on my HAF X that I could use. (I will buy more case Fan over the time to fill the case even if I think that it will be enough with all these fans...) As for the case fans, I was thinking about the Noctua NF-P14s Redux-1500PWM & NF-P12 Redux-1700PWM, even if they are a bit noisy at max PWM, because I. Like. Noctua... Sick quality build, My NHD-14 has been running almost 24/7 for 8 years! But I'm open to other brands ! (there are so many brands that I feel a little bit overwhelmed reading all these reviews !) My conditions on case fans: Obviously not so loud (If I am going to have 7+ of them inside a case, computer is in the bedroom so I want to be able to sleep even tho it is runinng,) No RGB or ones that can be disabled? (Still useless to me, makes the fans cost more... I will only allow RGB if the fan has an excelent quality/price ratio) Price range: Case + Fans 350€max To summarize, looking for a Full tower case with good airflow, and if needed, good case fans ! I am quite picky on the details and pay attention to the finishings I want it to last through time (maybe another decade who knows !) Sorry for the long post, I hope I did not forgot something ! Thank you for your time reading me ! PS: English is not my native language, please indulge me some mistakes !

My MoBo (MSI Z370 pc PRO) has only one 12v rgb header and 4 PWM case fan headers along with a cpu fan and a pump fan header. My case has 4 led fans preinstalled (not rgb just red led) which i have connected to the 4 fan headers on the MoBo. i have connected Cooler master hyper 410 cpu cooler with the cpu fan header. Then i connected an extra RGB case fan (Antec Prism 120) on the pump fan header. and its rgb cable with the only rgb header i had. The fan's led now syncs with my motherboard's rgb lights that can be controlled by MSI mystic light. Now the problem part. I have also got a 12v 5050 rgb led strip which is controllable by the MSI mystic sync app too. If i connect it to RGB header then I will lose the rgb part of the fan. Can i use both in some way. The motherboard supports upto 2-3 Amp current. and ofcource is 12v. IF i use a RGB splitter cable , will i still be able to control them both with the MSI mystic light app. IF not, what measures can i take? I'm sorry if i sound childish, this is my first PC build.

As far as I can tell, in the ASUS x470 bios, under Qfan, there's no way to have 0rpm for PWM fans. What's up with that? I know in Gigabytes Z370 that was possible. I did it for all my fans, even the one's on the aio. The pc was almost dead quiet until a certain temp was reached. Any help would be appreciated.
