Good morning/evening people ! I really want to buy a camera body and lens but the choice is very tough since I'll probably stick to the brand I choose. I have a budget around 1000-1150 CHF for my body and lens, I'll mostly do portrait photography and when I travel landscapes but a tripod isn't a first choice at the moment. I don't want a kit lens, the maximum aperture is generally bad, unless it's the Fuji 18-55, this lens seems pretty good. I already looked around the Fujifilm X-T20 with the 18-55 kit lens but I don't know if it's safe to go with Fujfilm instead of Sony, Canon or Nikon. I never used a Sony, Canon is very easy use for me even the pro bodies I had the chance to try and Nikon is very weird but with time I can learn how to use it. So in conclusion, I need your help for choosing a body and a lens, I'll do portrait and landscapes, I have a budget around 1000-1150 for the body and the lens. Thank you so much for your answers, have a good day.

Are there any of you here that owns a Canon EOS M6? How is it? and do you guy's think its a good beginner's camera? I'm thinking of buying it as my first camera. I'm also considering the Fujifilm X-T20 as it has 4K Video Recording and a built in EVF, although it costs a bit more than the M6. Do you guys have any opinion on both? or do you have any recommendations? Any reply would be appreciated. thanks!

Hi guys, I've been planning to get into photography for a long while and planning to get into videography down the line. Unfortunately, I don't have any knowledge of what to look at and to consider on choosing a good camera. I've put a poll on the cameras that I'm considering based on some random websites and my budget. It would help a lot to know the reason why you picked the camera in the list. It would help if somebody can suggest or tell me a comprehensive comparison between the choices. Any suggestions and advice would help a lot!

Dear Linus Tech Tips Forum users, I have been looking at some Cameras and thinking that I want to buy one sometime later this year. I'm looking for some help choosing which ones to pick. I am hoping that you can at least drop one link into this thread. Some of the requirements are: Less that $750 CDN Some sort of connection to the internet or Bluetooth so it's easier for me to upload Possibly 20 Mega-Pixels plus The reason why I came here is that I don't know much about cameras so if anyone could help, thanks. Some links I recommend: https://www.henrys.com/ and https://www.amazon.ca/. Thanks for reading, SwitcherooniMan

Ok so im sure this question has probably been asked many times, but i cant seem to figure out what camera i should get. I am going to be vlogging with it and doing some photography of both still and moving cars. The vlogging/video quality is most important to me and i will probably be using an external mic such as the rode mic so built in audio isnt a huge concern. I dont particularly care about 4k currently though it is something id like to have. So far i am kind of leaning towards the PANASONIC LUMIX G7, nikon d5200, Sony a6000, and the canon g7x mark 2. Id like to keep it around $600 with lens or point and shoot but if it is nikon i can do a body only sense i already have a couple af-s lens i could use with whatever body hence my consideration for the d5200 (about $300 used). If there are any other cameras you guys would recommend id love to hear it or just which of the aforementioned ones would be helpful too. Thanks so much.

Hey guys, Just wanted to know your opinions and advice for me getting my first DSLR camera. I want to use this for both recording video and taking photo's and yeah, I heard that the 18-55mm lens is good as I can take macro shots and long shots..idk http://www.argos.co.uk/product/5309579?cmpid=GS001&_$ja=tsid:59158|cid:200291090|agid:12525697850|tid:aud-144400486596:pla-186065772530|crid:66128556290|nw:g|rnd:1183720989250445774|dvc:c|adp:1o1|mt:|loc:9045954&gclid=Cj0KCQiAieTUBRCaARIsAHeLDCQvu5tmblZGEve3X6Y1wycSNx04NSpiBOPSEkReSgP2TtNn-_qAZwkaAoQDEALw_wcB Any advice would be appreciated

I guess they do have sufficient yield to ship some lower volumes of parts. Will be interesting to see the IPC and efficiency gains of the 10nm process. AFAIK these will be the same gains we see in the mainstream and high end parts when they do start to ship.

So, apparently there's a "scam" going on Amazon, regarding the "Canon EOS-1D X Mark II" camera...at least that I'm aware... This guy I follow on YT ordered one, directly from Amazon, not from someone else selling there for cheaper, and he got rocks. After going trough the return process and geting a second one, he got bricks. I'de call it an upgrade, but still a long way to go untill he gets an actual camera! Maybe someone at the amazon warehouse was feeling poor, or somewhere on the way from the Canon factories to Amazon a batch of those was replaced with rocks, bricks, etc, but they still arrive wrapped in plastic as one would expect. So, if someone was thinking about getting one of these, I'de buy from somewhere else. Here are the videos: 1- 2- First time posting...

--------TLDR-------- A youtuber bought a Canon 1DX Mk2 on amazon and got rocks instead, returned it, amazon sent a new one, the new one had bricks instead of the camera. --------TLDR-------- Has anyone else seen the latest Chase on two wheels video about a scam going on with the Canon 1DX Mk2 on amazon? This is the link for the second video: I know this could be just a fluke but at least for me it raises a lot of concerns I did not have before, my personal level of trust in amazon has been lowered to almost ebay levels. On the first video (you really don't need to watch it to get the point) I wasn't so concerned, but now after seen this happen 2 times in a row I will definitely think twice before ordering anything expensive on amazon again. What do you guys think about this? Does it raises your concern level, or am I just overreacting? -EDIT: On the fist video he states that the camera was sold and delivered by amazon.

Canon had just revealed their flash attachment called the 470EX-AI. The device's flash can automatically set itself at the most optimal position in the room, helping photographers take the best photos of their subjects. https://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2018/2/25/17046560/canon-470ex-ai-auto-flash-bounce

I'm looking to buy some cheap manual glass for my 1200d, however i am not interested in any vintage lenses. Are there any lenses like the ones rokinon, fujinon and samyang are producing but for a low price and for aps-c sized sensors ?

Hey, guys does anyone on this forum have experience with using a Sony a7R III with canon lens, how is the autofocusing and issues? just because I've already invested so much in canon lens and I want 4K without spending 6k + dollars on a 1DX. Thanks

Alright, I'll have to admit that maybe I was a bit cheap and purchased third party batteries for my camera body. I now have several questions about the batteries and my minor concerns. Firstly, is it detrimental to the health to the battery if I charge it even though it is 75% full? Thats because that battery is my only LP-E6N battery I have with the other two being LP-E6 variants. Since I have quite the event to photograph tomorrow, I don't really want to rely on a 3/4 full primary battery as the other two are jokes. Also, are LP-E6 batteries really compatible with the newer generation EOS 80Ds? I've read many forums where people have said that they are but personally the batteries dont even last close to half as long as the N variants. I managed to get 350 images with a (third party) LP-E6, however I am up to 600 with the (genuine) LP-E6N and as mentioned earlier, I've managed to carve through only 25% leaving 75% battery capacity. It seems that other prople have had quite positive experiences with thrid party LP-E6 batteries so I'm trying to determine if the battery or body is at fault. (I used an optically stabilised lens with the LP-E6N, but I used a non IS lens with the third party to try to get them to last)

Guys, i took my parents canon 500D which have not been used in a long time. it's using the normal 18-55mm lens which came with it. I tried taking pictures with it but it keeps giving me blurry results, no matter the modes i picked or in any environment it still gives me a blurry result. if i look into the viewfinder it shows a clear sharp preview so i concluded that it might not be the hardware problem, help please. Examples of the result: Sorry for the lack of outdoor pictures, since I deleted them because they looked blurry.

So I really want to buy a camera at the end of the year but there's too many choices that I can't even choose one. I want a camera that have great imagae quality but between Nikon, Canon and sony I can't choose, I think the 80D is a good choice but the D7500 is also really good And i'll mostly be shouting landscapes and portrait but I really like wildlife photography. I think the sigma 17-50 2.8 is a good choice and maybe a macro lens but there's too many like i said that i cant even choose. And a tripod also. My budget is around 1500-1600 So in conclusion i need some help to chose : a camera, a lens and a tripod Thanks for the help it really means a lot for me.

Hi all, does anyone here here use their canon 700d to live stream with?? I’ve got everything set up fine but I’m struggling to get the live view to stay on for longer than 30 minutes which is how I capture the video feed from the camera. Really need some advice on how to get this to work, I’ve tried magic lantern but for some reason their sticky halfshutter function isn’t available on the 700d which would have solved all my problems! ive also looked in to writing an LUA script for magic lantern that tells it to Half press the shutter every 20 minutes as this would keep the live view active, but I suck at coding and I can’t get it to work any help or suggestions would be great!

So I've been doing some research on how to get a Canon 70-200 f/2.8 to work on a Sony a6000 body using an EF to NEX adapter. Most of the ones I've looked at do not support the USM Glass and I'm trying to find one that supports EF USM lenses on an a6000 with speedy autofocus. Could someone help me out? Thanks!

Dear community, One week left until i start my trip to northern Norway to photograph and chase the northern lights. I want to bring my Panasonic GH5 which is weather sealed with the original Panasonic lens, but in addition to that I want to bring some Canon L-glass with the Metabones speebooster as well. Does anyone know, where (ohn which part) the rubber sealing is and if the weather sealing is still OK? (since Canon L-glass is waterproof as well in combination with Canon cameras.) I hope you get my point, if there is a rubber sealing around the Canon L-lens and a sealing on the GH5 itself, there should be no issue as far as I can tell.. Thanks!

I have a Rode Videomic (non pro). When I plug it into my 7D MkII it works perfectly fine but if I plug it into my PC, my mix board or my Atmos Ninja the volume is unusably low. I'm trying to set up a rig with the Ninja and the Rode but even after jacking the Ninja's audio settings to the max I still only get very faint sound from the mic. I had assumed that the mic had a pre-amp built in since it's powered but maybe not? Even if that's the case why would ONLY my camera have a good enough pre-amp to be able to use it?
