I was watching random videos on YouTube until they've shown a video from NCIX in my Recommended feed and it was an interesting news for me at least. I thought of not pursuing my visa application to New Zealand and apply to Canada instead but then I realized that they have a financial crisis. But I think Canada's internet is not only better than NZ, it's better than US Internet according to Speedtest. Check here?? and here ??. I tried using the Hydro X configurator on Corsair’s website but was unable to find a way to buy or check the price of my Stage 2 config. The only options shown were: Download or Email config., and find retailer (which only list foreign country retailers, and even once chosen sends you to a page that has neither your config. or chosen parts). My config. included a 420mm rad (at front of case) with 3 fans included, a 360mm rad (in top of case) with an additional 3 fans included, a CPU+VRM Waterblock, 2 GPU Waterblocks, a pump, hard clear tubing, and a what I assume was a controller for the RGB. (which I would assume to be around $960CDN in total). HOW DO I BUY THIS IN CANADA?!?

.So I was thinking, what are some ways that we could rethink cooling for supercomputers, I propose 3 ideas that came to my mind. It was actually my first thought that was most crazy and the third is more realistic but here they are. Idea #1 - Subaquatic Deep Sea, Water Cooled Super Computer Ok image a large submarine deep down in the that intakes large supplies of very cold water and easily expels it away upwards into currents. Small Ps. i even thought it could be nuclear powered and and just be super powerfully, this also applies to the next idea Idea #2 - Use the Cold Cold Vacuum of Space This one explains it self. After I first thought edit it I figured this just already be used on the ISS but I found that the first supercomputer in space was out up let year and only did on teraflop. But what if we could shield the CPUs and GPUs from radiation but open then up to the frigid vacuum of space. Think of the ease of cooling. The other option in space is using them to heat the living quarters or any other areas requiring heat but that isn't as cool. Idea #3 - Great Canadian North. Linus are you paying attention Why hasn't either someone privately out even our government putting any thought into using the natural for of caffeine winter to cool their data centers. just build outdoor weather proof data centers and supercomputers. Does anyone know if any of this are being used or maybe have failed for what ever reason? Can you think of other kind of crazy ways to cool a computer. Hey all, I am a newbie here but have been building rigs for over 15 years (took a hiatus due to having to be an adult and save money) but now I am getting back into PC gaming. I am in British Columbia, Canada and have put together a selection of mid to high end parts for my new build in the next couple weeks.For years I have been an AMD guy due to pricing but I am planning on an Intel/Nvidia rig since they seem to have the best performance in the price range I am looking at. That being said, I would love to read your thoughts and ideas as to AMD's Ryzen offerings and the possible use of Crossfire to make up the performace difference with NVidia's newest cards thanks in advance! 1. Aim I am a Bioware fan and am looking for something to replace Destiny 2 so I am hoping Anthem lives up to it's hype (but, y'know, EA). I don't do a lot of productivity on my home computer so this is primarily for high graphic gaming. I may do some occasional photoshop or video editing but that is a rare occurrence. Peripherals The only peripheral that I will need is a nice set of headphones with a mic, preferably sub $150. I'll be buying as part of my budget Windows 10 Pro on a USB but already have a mouse (Logitech G400s and Razer Naga depending on what I am playing), keyboard (Corsair K90), and monitor (ASUS VZ279H). I also have a case (Antec P280) which doesn't really allow for RGB so I am not really interested in that and a 650watt power supply (I could upgrade that if budget allows just to get something newer and maybe 80+gold or higher). So I have a friend attending college for trades (welding to start) and at some point is going to need to pick up a laptop for industrial graphic design work for when she finishes her course next year. Right now I'm thinking of getting an RX 570, right now I'm just using the integrated vega 8 graphics in my 2200G. Where I live, Canada, an RX 570 costs $160-$220 and around that is my price range, and a GTX 1650 or GTX 1060 3GB are more expensive than the RX 570 while having similar performance, I could get a RX 580 for $230-$280 but it is also more expensive and my CPU might be a bottleneck at that point. The problem is that the RX 570 is from 2017, making it very old already should I hold get a newer Nvidia card like a 1650/1660, wait for a new GPUs to come out like the RX 5500(XT), or just get the older RX 570 even though it is going to be 3 years old.

Hi all, I've been on the hunt for a decent VPN and webhost for some hobby fun/experimenting stuff. But while ProtonVPN is cool (esp since it accepts CHF which is cheaper!!) I'm in the boat where I don't have a credit card nor a reloadable one I could use to pay for stuff. And if I'm going to do prepaid, I'm going to get tagged each time to buy the aforementioned card. On top of that, the exchange rate is a PITA at the best of times. So, is there some homegrown Canadian VPN offerings that accept Interact or do business in a stable, consistent Canadian price? Yea, I'd be doing the monthly since I really don't have much choice. As for webhost, I'm just looking for a box to relive old 90s style MU*/Doors stuff for my circles. Hi guys, looking to buy all my parts during black friday/boxing week sales. It’ll be the first PC that I’m putting together on my own. 1. Budget & Location 2000 CAD (+200 max; without peripherals). Would prefer to keep it on the lower side so I can use the money on monitors and peripherals. 2. Aim To mainly game on a 1440p 144hz monitor. Mostly into single player/rpg/cinematic games. Will be playing titles like Cyberpunk/RDR 2 and also similar games released in the past 5 yrs or so (like tomb raider and assassin’s creed series). I also recently started using Blender. Not professionally, just as a hobby. Might lead to using other audio/video editing in the future as well so would like to keep this option open. Other than that, just regular use. Usually have about 50-80 tabs open on Firefox, listen to music and have a few apps running in the background. I should also mention I never turn off my PC. It’s on 24/7 unless I’m going way for a weekend. 3. Monitors Havent bought any but planning to get one 32” 1440p 120hz+ (something like tuf gaming vg32vq or dell s3220dgf) If you guys have any recommendations, I’ll take it (fyi I also had a thread in the monitor forum but not much luck). And then eventually I’ll add a 4K monitor. 4. Peripherals What are some good wireless KBs and mice? I really like the Corsair lapboard but I need a small mouse because I have tiny hands…..think Deadpool haha 5. Why are you upgrading? Current PC is too old (1st gen intel i5). Cant even keep up with the regular workload. Unable to game/render. Here is the PC Part Picker list Questions/Notes 1 - I know the PSU is overkill and some consider the OLED panel just a gimmick but I kinda like that gimmick…..sorry I guess?.....But if you guys know of any performance issues, I’ll gladly change it though. 2 - For RAM - should I go for tighter timing but 3200? It’s $5 more. I’ve been reading Ryzen loves fast memory so that’s why I chose the 3600 plus it’s $5 cheaper. And I don’t have to have RGB memory so if there is a better alternative without RGB (like Ripjaws V), I’ll consider it. Greetings, n00b (to the Canadian market) here: I know the Australian market mainly (and the UK to an extent) but the Canadian parts and systems market baffles me, despite the AUD and CAD being roughly line ball prices I've seen so far are sometimes much worse in Canada than even Australia (the land of giant gouging where things can cost 3-4 times what they do in the US). I am in the UK so I can't go over and look for myself. Anyway - I'm trying to help a rather desperate friend of mine, she's been without a rig of any sort since her PC died nearly a year ago; she hasn't been able to satisfy her savage WoW addiction since that dreadful day. She's only got $1000 Canadian so I'm trying to spec either a gaming laptop with a 1050ti or a 1060 squeezed into budget - or perhaps a mini-itx desktop with a reasonable video card and moderate processor/ram configuration. She has screen/keyboard/mouse from the traitorous (and dead) Alienware X51 that has eternal yellow-light-of-death (it's a 2012 machine). I'm trying to spec a box that has a bit of future-proofness, I was hoping to go at least 1060 or higher (perhaps 2060 if that's not a pipe dream) so that she has potential future VR support; I'm not that familiar with the AMD offerings there yet. But my problem has been - trying to find good vendors and system builders, preferably one of those more cut-throat operations that charges a moderate build fee and sells a warranty that's actually a small insurance contract (that's how it's usually done in Oz). She's in Kitchener - I was hoping to find one of those generic gaming laptops initially (I believe the Eluktronics systems are like that?) but they seem to start at the $1k mark wtihout HDD or ram for a 1060 card build and a 7th gen Core i7. I'm trying to find options for either competitive laptop vendors or system builders that could put together a physically small system with upgrade options; does anyone know good options in that area? I mainly seem to hit Newegg or BestBuy or Amazon and pricing there has been rather awful so far; not sure if it's a bad time of year to buy kit but the prices were basically as close to RRP as you can get. A young mum and her two little'uns would be very happy if I can sort something out (little'uns are too little to play PC games but a less stressed mum is essential for everyone's safety).

Hello, I have just switched my major to Computer Science and I was recommended by friends in the program to bring a desktop. Firstly how should I pack the desktop, I have seen companies use packaging material which resembles expanding foam in a bag, but I also heard that simply putting foam in the case and packing it tightly will do the trick. Secondly I am shipping from California to Queens University in Ontario Canada, and would like a cost-effective yet, not crazy slow means of shipping, what would be recommended? (My computer at in a Mid ATX case, BenQ XL2720Z Monitor, and Razor Chroma keyboard and mouse for an idea on size) Lastly I am also flying to and from school is it safe to check a desktop, monitor, and all the peripherals on a plane then a train, or would that be a death-sentence for my computer? Any replies are welcome!

Hello dear linusteachtips forum users, Im currently in the process of building a gaming rig in Canada and am not entirely sure what cpu-cpu cooler to get. Since I will be doing some moderate productive work, and because of the insane prices of intel cpus rn, I have narrowed my choice of cpu to either a ryzen 2600 or a 2600x. I will be doing overclocking on either cpu for 2-4 cores in order to boost gaming performance, and am not sure what combination of cpu/cooler would be the best/price efficient. Is there any binning between 2600 and 2600x cpus, and if so would that be worth purchasing the higher end model for? Also, if I purchase the 2600 what aftermarket cooler should I get, and is it necessary to replace the 2600x's wraith spire cooler if looking to overclock. Thank you guys in advance for your help!

Recently i have been looking for parts for a brand new PC. Turns out all my parts were going to be sourced from the US. I used PCPartPicker and the original price was around 1100$. Turned out to be 1980$ when it was switched to canada. Now, i need to find a good card 300$ that: 1, takes into the price factor of this time period 2. I've been thinking about life lately and I think I should start thinking about my future. I've been thinking that I may want to move to Canada because of totally-not-because-to-meet-Linus-and-his-amazing-team. What should I look for in a country? (House prices and so on) I don't really know where to start, any idea on what I should look for? Like there's this university that caught my eye, it's Simon Fraser University, so what should I look for in a university? (Price, education system and so on) (Pick) Oh and also what "course" should I take? The thing that I wanna learn is pretty much about computers. Such as, what's a transistor, how does a tini tiny cpu works, how does a relatively thin piece of plastic and some chip holds storage and all of those. Yes this is a mess, sorry edit: oh ya and also I don't live in US, Europe and UK (Asian) so don't expect me to answer what grade am i in. (And also what's a high school)

For monitor, I wouldn't need high resolution ones as I am old (late 30s) and no where near 20/20 vision. For parts, I was thinking Ryzen 3 3300X for CPU and 1660Super for graphic card. Also, I wouldn't need fancy RGB lights for case. I have a guy with spare CPU so he can help me with bios upgrade.
