Summary Edison Motors, started by Chace Barber, a logging truck driver, and Eric Little, his business partner, out of Merritt, B.C., completed their second prototype truck “Topsy” and is seeking further investment to build out production. Edison Motors builds hybrid diesel-electric heavy duty trucks for hauling heavy loads and handling difficult roads. Barber was motivated by his dissatisfaction with the order delay on a Tesla Semi, and lack of any other electric/hybrid alternative. Quotes My thoughts I started following this guy on tiktok a few years ago, back when he was a logging truck driver complaining about some of the deficiencies of the Tesla Semi. He seemed to jokingly suggest that he’d start a rival company to build a truck that could actually do what he needed, and call it “Edison”, but after a few years it seems it’s turned into a real thing. Seeing as these guys are also based out of B.C. it would be really cool to see someone like Alex head up there and see what they’re all about. Hi For three weeks i have tried to get the dell customer support to answer a simple question. I am wondering weather the french/english Canadian keyboard is in ISO or ANSI layout. Dell seems unable to answer this super basic question about one of their most expensive laptops. Do anyone happen to either have the laptop or have a way of answering the question? In case that would be very appreciated.

Hey, I'm going into my first year of uni for engineering, and the laptop they recommend is a Precision 3580 (15") or ThinkPad P16 Gen 1 (16"). Unfortunately, those laptops are out of my budget, but I have my PC, which I built recently; it has more than enough power, so I'm planning to remote into it using Parsec. So, I'm trying to find a new laptop to buy that is still good enough to do most things. The main concerns are build quality (nothing with too much deck flex) and a good screen of at least 15 ". Currently, I'm looking at the Asus zenbook 15 Oled um3504, but it's a bit pricey for me and sold out. Does anyone have any recommendations/laptops I should check out?

Summary A Canadian cooperative sent an digital contract for the delivery of flax to a farmer and asked for confirmation. The farmer acknowledged the message with an thumbs up emoji but did not deliver any grain. A judge ruled that the farmer agreed on the contract and he has to pay 82,200 CAD in damages to the cooperative. Quotes My thoughts I don't think contracts should be legally binding if one party uses a thumbs up emoji. That's in general a terrible decision by the court. However, the farmer agreed to contracts in the past by responding with "looks good", "ok" or "yup" and then delivered the grain. It was IMHO more action implying intention than a basis for a legally binding contract. Summary These Small libraries have been popping up all over the place in recent years. it has been a chance for people to either set up their own place where they can put old books in hopes someone will take them and read them and they have become great places for people to donate new and old books. There is a novelty for kids to see a little house of books while on a walk and be able to talk one to read at bed time. Matthew Reed is hoping that his version of these Small Libraries will allow people of all ages to remember their childhood of renting movies and introduce the concept to younger generations who might have missed out on those rental stores. Reed calls it Free Blockbuster, and he's not the only one as a this is the third in Canada, these boxes work in a similar fashion to the Small Library houses in that they are places where people can donate old movies or take them to watch at home, Reed even gives out his own membership cards as well. This Grade 12 Project is sure to be a successful one. Quotes My thoughts This is a story from my old High School and I remembered it after listening to the WAN clip about the Wayback machine and Libraries being in trouble, I think that its a really cool concept that is very much inspired by those small libraries that are mentioned in the podcast, it very much seems like the natural evolution, and I can even say that I have visited the box and can confirm that at least for the first few weeks Reed was also stocking the box with Popcorn so you could get a movie for movie night and the snacks too! So i'm planning to continue my studies in Canada, my home country is part of ASEAN (saw some specific scholarships, so this may help) For TL:DR read the bolded text. I have done some 'research' and i'm going to send an email to the Canadian Embassy for my country, and i also decided to ask here because LTT is a Canadian company I figured there may be experienced people here. I'm currently studying in a 4 year Vocational school ( got about 1 year left), it's a Vocational High School for Chemical Analysis how i got here (and why i'm not gonna apply for jobs) is another story, i'm still trying to know which of the studies i should take, and chemistry might not be one of them as i am more adept at physical work, which helped with some specific laboratory techniques but the one thing i'm quite fond of this school is the Microbiology (Analytical instruments are a close 2nd but still, chemicals though). The biggest reason I decided to post in a forum is to read other people's experience, not just hear the ones that made a Youtube vid. You could be a local who was involved in some way or you could be the one experiencing it. Is there an online resource that is dedicated to find the available studies of all available universities or educational intitutes, where else should i look what to avoid. (I would like to hear your experiences) I have looked into some of the available resources, and the first idea is i will get a part time job when i get there, as my mother said they (my parents) could fund my study as the cost of studying in Canada was suprisingly not that far from the costs of my brothers studying here ( i have 2 brothers, one of them is still studying). I have tried looking for scholarships, but i or my school doesn't fit their criteria, my grades dropped in year 1 to 2.5 due to personal reasons (mainly unresolved trauma i guess, or dysthymia). It's easier for me to overcome my shotcomings by physically being active, so i probably wouldn't perfrom well with a desk job. I'm close to my 2nd older brother, and he's studying IT so i asked if he would like to continue his studies in Canada aswell (his english is also good), and he said he would after working for a year and the reason i added this is because LMG is a Canadian tech company he has a better chance at a scholarship. (I talked with my mother first cause she is more reasonable to talk to, and an FYI she's not my birth mother, and as i type this that might be the reason she could be more 'true' with her discipline i guess)

As the Title says, Nvidia has increased the MSRP on their own website, and BestBuy.ca, just because we are Canadian. I cant find the 3060ti, 3070, or 3090 MSRPs anymore but the 3080 used to be 899 but is now 1029 WHAT IS THIS. THIS IS NOT FAIR. Just as the 80/90FEs are finally becoming officially available in Canada from BestBuy, there's a price hike. It's not that our dollar has dramatically dropped, it's just greed!

Hi all, sorry for the long(?) first post ahead. First paragraph has context, second is the initial question, and the third has some alternatives I'm considering. I'm working towards my first ever PC build after years of using cheap prebuilts (e.g. my 2017 laptop periodically freezes in Photoshop when using ctrl-z and cannot maintain consistent fps in LoL with a 30 fps cap & minimum settings—and that computer was actually a significant upgrade from my previous 2014 prebuilt desktop). Evidently, I picked a pretty bad time to finally upgrade, but I've been binging videos from Linus & other tech youtubers over the past few weeks (wasn't even aware of the GPU shortage prior to last month). I think I have a pretty okay list put together (using a 3400G to avoid GPU pricing) and I've been able to source some functional used parts through a friend, but I'm stuck on the case. For additional context, I'm in Canada, won't be using a GPU until prices normalize in 1-2+ years, and won't be getting a high end GPU even then. I'm a fairly casual user who won't be overclocking, doing heavy workstation tasks, or attempting to play any triple A games (I have a 60 Hz monitor so the less demanding games will cap out at 60 fps too). I was looking for a budget ATX case in the $40-70 range with shipping/tax, and the most suitable ones in that price seem to be the Cougar MX330 (~$50 + shipping/tax), MX331 (~$55 + shipping/tax), and the MX410 (~$55 + shipping/tax). I don't actually like RGB and don't care about a visible side panel (the PC will be under a desk on hardwood floor) + I prefer to keep the budget as low as possible. I was considering the MX330-X and MX331-X specifically for the lack of side panel before I realized they only have two functional USB slots. Overall, the Cougar MX entries appear to have very similar specs—is there any factor I'm missing aside from MX330 winning in price or MX410 mesh being the only one without a side panel + having 4 USB? I couldn't find all that much about the MX410 compared to the MX330, but I assume the 410 is a more recent model. If I was willing to pay the $5 more, is there any reason not to pick the MX410 over the MX330 or MX331 here? All only come with 1 fan. However, a friend of mine has a spare Gamdias Talos M1 (which has a few small reviews, but most reviewers were sent the case for free) which they offered for $50. It would come with two fans, but the front of the case isn't a mesh; instead, it has two angular cutouts which allow air (and dust) free access into the case. I might be able to tape some cheap window mesh over the awkwardly long vertical gaps, though I'm wondering if airflow could be affected with a mostly glass front cover. Alternatively, the Fractal Focus G is around $70(without shipping/tax) with two fans and the frequently praised P300A with 1 fan is $80 (without shipping/tax) which is higher than I would prefer. I think I can get away with 1 fan until I get a GPU, so the 1 fan isn't a problem at the moment. Any thoughts or recommendations? This range seems to be a bit under what is commonly referred to as "budget" by most tech youtubers, so it's a bit rough information-wise (could also be my inexperience). Apologies again for the long thread and all the questions spread throughout. If I'm not too clear or it's disorganized, I can restate them at the end in a TL;DR as well.

Budget (including currency): 1700 cad Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Cyberpunk, Heavy modded Minecraft, Overwatch, Black Desert Online, League of Legends, digital art, 3d animation, Zoom, Chrome Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): No peripherals. I will but those another time. White or black & white theme. Here's the build I've done so far. Any improvements? https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/Uginia/saved/#view=RxRxHx Also, I'm not crazy about the case and gpu tbh. I'll see what you all think. This is my first time.

Built a PC for my partner recently for light co-op games. Since day one of gaming on it (the only game she plays is Raft) she has been having freezing. Sometimes its 30 minutes of gaming later sometimes 10 minutes later. I tried running multiple 100% load tests on the Passmark burnintest but did not find any errors. Here is the parts list. All new except the case. CPU: Ryzen 3200g MOBO: MSI B450I GAMING PLUS AC Mini ITX RAM: Patriot Viper RGB 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL17 SSD: Western Digital Blue SN550 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME PSU: Corsair CXM 450 W 80+ Bronze Certified CASE: Cougar QBX I'm wondering if the PSU might be kinda poor quality, but the power draw on this system is still nothing compared to the PSU capacity?

Budget (including currency): 1500 Canadian Dollars Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Digital art, 3D animation, Heavily modded Minecraft, Overwatch, League of Legends, Cyberpunk, Black Desert online, Zoom, Chrome, Netflix, GTA V and other games. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hello! I hope you all are doing well... I am very new to all of this, so I apologize! =/ I am looking for a build around $1500 Canadian dollars. With many days of looking around, I managed to put together a build with the help of a friend... https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/Uginia/saved/RxRxHx I thought it was under the 1500 dollar range until I realized that I was on the US version of the site. I changed the location and then nearly had a heart attack (The price difference yikes! u-u). I am looking for ways to tweak this build. I would like an AMD cpu and Nvidia video card (You can change if needed), and would also like a build that can look a little more feminine ( Wanted to change the aio cooler and fan color pink or keep it the same.) . I was not able to find pink or pink and white case I really like. If it's needed, I am willing to sacrifice the aesthetic for performance. I've got a few other questions as well, but I might add them in here a bit later... Also, should I get a better gpu for the build? I'm not confident in what I chose... Thank you so much! @^^@ As for the monitor, mouse, mouse pad, keyboard, windows license and speakers... I will buy those on my own. Those will be something separate. :^)

Here's the current PCpartpicker list ($1700 as of May 20) Budget: $2000 CAD Country: Canada (US if there's a really good deal) Games, programs, or workloads that it will be used for: Most intensive thing would be streaming/recording games like Apex Legends + Discord + Spotify + couple of tabs. Light audio and video editing/recording as well. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Currently have CPU, graphics card, and Windows 10. Still looking to buy everything else. No peripherals needed. Will be purchasing things whenever I see a decent price, but will be done by the end of 2021 at the latest. Play on 1920x1080 144 Hz on main monitor. Got a basic 1080p side monitor. No plans on upgrading resolution/refresh rate/etc or more monitors. If I need to turn settings down to very low for FPS, I will. I'm pretty satisfied with the build itself. Specifically looking at: Anything specific I can try to upgrade with the motherboard, RAM, SSD, whatever. Can be the smallest things, doesn't matter (like VRMs, RAM speeds, all that jazz) Not sure which case to get. I prefer function over form (dust filters & fans > RGB and glass) and smaller form factor. Got some room on the budget, so shoot some suggestions! I think the power supply is fine? Might have to look at the tier list again, but idk. Anything else I can try to improve on? Just looking to get some input from anyone. Thanks! EDIT: If someone finds this post and is curious, here's my final build. I gotta say, I got most of my parts on really good deals. Also sold my old PC for ~$600, so total net cost towards this build was ~$800. Huge deal on the CPU, but still wish I went Ryzen. Also bought a new monitor for $250 (BenQ Mobiuz EX2710) and sold my old 144Hz.

rtx 3070 Does anyone know where to get an RTX 3070 in Canada?
fXjZL5 posted a topic in Graphics Cards
Sorry if this is a stupid question -- it probably is, but I've never been through the process of trying to purchase a new product before it's sold out before. From what I know, Nvidia isn't going to be selling the card on their website and is handing it off instead to BestBuy. I just called BestBuy Canada and they told me it probably won't be coming out until early November, but the sales rep didn't really seem to know what she was talking about. Does anyone have better/more up to date information? Also, do we know where else is going to stock it in Canada? Thanks. -
Hi All, My sister is looking for a laptop to use for work. She's a graphic designer who has recently been laid off and is trying to do some contract work, she mostly uses Adobe CS6 but will likely upgrade to newer software in the future (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator mostly I believe). Her budget is around $1000 CAD (obviously lower is preferred). Are there any good options available? Should we wait for black friday? Also, she's been in contact with a seller of off-lease/refurbished computers who suggested the following: $770 Dell PRECISION 7510, Intel i7 6820HQ, 2.7 GHZ, 16GB DDR4, 180GB SSD + 1TB HDD Storage, 15.6" UltraSharp™ FHD IPS (1920x1080) Wide View Anti-Glare LED-backlit AMD FirePro W5170M with 2GB GDDR5 dedicated memory 1 x SD Card Reader (SD, SDHC, SDXC, supporting up to 64GB); 1 x Thunderbolt® 3 (optional), 4 x USB3.0 with PowerShare; 1 x mDP; 1 x HDMI; 1 x Headphone and microphone combo jack Wired: Integrated Intel 82580 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet Intel® 8260 Dual-Band 2x2 802.11 ac (Miracast) Bluetooth® 4.1, Dell DW1820 2x2 801.11ac + Bluetooth 4.1 Width: 14.88” / 378mm; Depth: 10.38”/ 261mm ;Height (front-Rear): Front 1.09”/27.76mm – 1.3”/(33mm) Starting at 2.79kg (6.16lb) I thought it was a bit pricey considering its a ~5 year old cpu (even if it is a workstation laptop).

6 Celsius in Late September, PC running CUID HWMonitor shows lowest temp of 16 on samsung HHD airflow (but room never drops below 20, so? value issues?? I have my window cracked 1/3 inch, and 2 pc's (relatively identical lenovo m90p and m93p) both facing the gap, sucking in air and kicking it out away from window (both facing each other below the hole (6 foot desk 2 feet below window) thinking of adding piping to direct the arctic flow? It worries me that the 4 cpu's in the 93 have lowest temps of 2 or 3 degrees different?? they are all on the same chip, nanometers apart?? but on medium idle all night (running folding@home for covid 19 (thanks for the suggestions Linus!) ) cores can dip below 30 celcius, but never above 80 celcius even though some cpu's top up to 100% at times) I kinda wish CPUID showed a time graph instead of just numbers I can't record.. not ready to overclock, just happy that I'm keeping my parts running below burnout temps so it shouldn't ages them prematurely.. thoughts? and this is Calgary, humidity is NOT an issue..90% time. I can dry my banana peels in a day on the kitchen table..
