Hi my name is josh, At the moment I am doing my extended diploma in Creative media and technology. From doing the course I have decided that I want to further my knowledge into using the software adobe offer such as premier pro, After effects and Photoshop ext. Because of this I have been saving up money to get a laptop. My budget being under £1,200. Thing is I am not the best when it comes down to knowing whats good or bad in laptops. Hence why I am on here, I would really appreciate some guidance into getting the right laptop for me. It would be of great help if you guys could help with me choosing the right laptop. The reason why I would like to have a laptop that can smoothly run this software is because I want to be able to work on stuff on the go rather than be sat on a desktop. The laptop will need to be able to play 4k content and be able to edit it as well. Thanks for reading and appreciate anything you care to share with me. Have a nice day.

So a buddy of mine bought a gaming pc like two years (corrrection) ago for a $1,000 (includes a monitor) and has decided to sell it for $400. What do y'all think, is it worth it?

I am from india and planning to buy a laptop as there is a sale going on the two biggest marketplace in india namely Amazon annd d Flipkart. I have a budget of around Rs.60,000 (approx 850 USD) and i have around two laptops in mind you can suggest others as well if they are within my budget. 1.Asus TUF with Nvidia 1650ti 4GB Ryzen 5-3550h and a 120Hz refresh rate Monitor Rs.51990(735 USD) 2.Lenovo Legion with Nvidia 1650ti 4GB Intel i5-9300h and a 60Hz refresh rate Monitor Rs.60990(870 USD) The main Argument being what to choose between intel and ryzen as there is a price difference between the two sufficent enough to allow me to instead choice AMD and get some Peripheral. I have to get one of them before the sale is over so consider that as well.

I am shopping for a new router and modem, either in one whole unit or 2 separate units since I have Comcast and I want it to work with their network. I have a list of things the router has to meet for my networking needs. Port Speed: We run CAT6 Gigabit for our network so the router has to meet that LAN speed. ISP Network: We'er with Comcast so we need the Modem to work on their network whether as a separate device or all-in-one. Security: First and foremost Security. Solid Firewall with some good options. Can Port Forward and allow normal gaming traffic and Twitch Streaming traffic as well as general use traffic. The Ability to monitor network traffic, ports, and the ability to do DHCP reserve list. Wi-Fi It HAS to have 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz with a high range of channels and bandwidth so I don't have to compete with my neighbors for wi-fi traffic. It'd be cool if I could see other wireless networks in the router so I can tune my wi-fi to work well. Other Features: I don't mind if the router has other great features too and I like having options. I just wanted to list the MOST needed ones first. Price: The most I am willing to put in it is $400 but I don't think networking gear is expensive

So my brother is about to head-off to college and he is a laptop gamer, the laptop he uses is a lenovo g50-80 and I must say it doesn't get him a lot of frames on the games he play. It can run DOTA 2 smooth if he turns down the graphic to the lowest possIble setting. I am planning to buy him a 2nd hand desktop so that he can take it with him when he goes to college. I found a very cheap Dell Optiplex 9020 SFF. So I'm planning to just give him my old 750ti as well and bump up the RAM to 16GB, also buying him a new 512GB SSD instead of that 500GB HDD. Just wanted to ask if this plan is going to be good enough for a gamer? Not really a gamer myself, but I am a techie of some sort

Hello! I am looking to buy a laptop/tablet for my mother for Christmas. She does not currently have one, and uses her phone for everything, complaining about the small screen. (A hint for my father and I for christmas gift ideas) I have found a surface pro 4 still in box, with the touch cover keyboard, 4 gigs of ram, and 128gb of storage for 500. I was curious as to how this would compare with a Surface Go, being in a similar price range, would it be better to splurge for the $400 surface go with a keyboard, or even the 550 surface go over this? Or go with the older hardware? Remember, she only really uses it for emails, watching netflix, hulu, etc. and reading while she travels or at home.

Hello guys, As the title says, i need help picking my new laptop. There are a few problems. First of all my knowledge of laptop GPU's/CPU's isn't so great, second is that prices for technology in my country are crazy ( for reference iPhone Xs Max 512GB here costs 1915 euros ). I plan to use this laptop for gaming, drawing in Photoshop and Illustrator and running some other programs that are similarly demanding. And ,so you know, when i say gaming i don't mean running the latest AAA games on ultra, far from it. My PC has an i5 6500, GeForce GT 740 (2GB) and 8 GB of RAM, and its capable of pretty much what i need ( could use a better GPU tbh). Ive attached an image of CPU's and GPU's that are in the laptops that i can afford, and i would like you to help me with what good for me. I know the 1050 is the best (and i would LOVE to get it) , however i'm not sure that i will be able to afford laptops with it :/ P.S. The "benchmark" in the photo is the scores form passmark.com, since i didn't know how else to compare. And some specs might not be right since shops in my country aren't the best and writing them down. Sorry for the long story. =)

Hi, I can buy a Vega 56 2nd hand for £225, it has flashed to 64 bios. Is this a good deal with the new Nvidia GPUs coming out? I currently have a 1060 3gb and want to upgrade for when I purchase a new monitor for freesync but I saw today that Nvidia announced they will support Freesync now so I'm not sure if this is still a good deal? I will be purchasing a IPS 144hz 1440p monitor sometime this year, not sure which one yet though. Also, I bought my 2600x ryzen 10 days ago and am wondering if you guys think I made a bad choice purchasing it now? I had a 4670k before and really enjoy the performance boost I have recieved but I am worried my x470 board I bought won't be compatible with the new Ryzens. Thanks.

Hi, im updating my rig, came from an por core2duo 1.8 and a Radeon 3850hd to a ryzen build. Since my psu was somekind new (it is 3 years old) i thought it was a component that i wouldnt need to upgrade. Its an Antec Neo Eco 620w. But in the past few months it started yo make a ticking sound which took me a lot to idéntify its source. I thought it was an hdd or a fan, but i have already confirmed its the capacitors of the psu, not its fan. Since i read its really hazardous to fix it and even keep using it so im gonna change. My rig: Ryzen 5 1600 Asus strix x370-f G.SKILL tridentz 16gb 3000mhz Sapphire nitro+ Rx580 8gb especial edición Samsung 850evo 500gb and 1tb WD Blue x2 SO, i have this options, and would like some advice picking one: SEASONIC FOCUS GOLD 850 SSR-850FX (188 u$s) SEASONIC ULTRA 750 GOLD SSR750GD2 (208 u$s) SEASONIC PRIME GOLD 850W SSR-850GD (239 u$s) SEASONIC FOCUS GOLD 1000 SSR-1000FX (254 u$s) SEASONIC PRIME PLATINUM 850W SSR-850PD (285 u$s) I have only put seasonic since thermaltake and evga are the other options i have but i have read a lot about them Being noisy or failing a lot, so im sure i want a seasonic, but i cant define which one of this. Note: prices are from my country, Uruguay, so thats why they are so expensive.

What RAM should I buy ? I am about to uprage my laptop (2x4gb 2133mhz DDR4 RAM) with single 16GB RAM stick (I end up with 4gb+16gb=20gb RAM and yes I need it!). BM only supports RAM up to 2133mhz but isn't it more future-proof to buy RAM clocked higher even if my laptop will only use 2133mhz ? (Consider RAM sticks with higher clokage to be a bit cheaper) Can I get some compatibility issues ? Should I buy 2133mhz ram stick ?

I am looking at getting a 1080p, 27 inch, IPS monitor. It will mostly be used for general use, with some gaming as well, however nothing competitive. What monitor would you best recommend in this category? Not looking to spend much more than $200 if possible. Thanks in advance

Hi All, Looking at getting some new monitors for my setup (upgrading from a TV and old Philips 170S), and have picked out a few choices, but I have some additional questions. First off, here are the monitors I am looking at: Primary: ROG Swift PG279Q https://www.asus.com/uk/Monitors/ROG-SWIFT-PG279Q/ Alternatives Primary: ROG Swift PG27VQ https://www.asus.com/uk/Monitors/ROG-SWIFT-PG27VQ/ ROG Strix XG32VQ https://www.asus.com/uk/Monitors/ROG-Strix-XG32VQ/overview/ Secondary (Verticle) : VG278Q https://www.asus.com/uk/Monitors/VG278Q/overview/ Alternative Secondary: ROG Strix XG27VQ https://www.asus.com/uk/Monitors/ROG-STRIX-XG27VQ/ My questions: 1) Have always gamed on a 33" TV, and I love the large screen size. Is 27" still very large, or should I look at getting the 32" XG32VQ? 2) How good is a curved monitor? Does it really increase immersion and is it worth it? 3) Anyone ever used a curved monitor as a verticle monitor, and if so, does it work, or is there screen glare? Thanks for reading and answering questions. Have a good day!

Is it better to buy the parts separately or the whole build at once?

Hello! ? I recently got myself a higher end GPU but my monitor is 60hz 1080p. My friend say I should go with a G-sync TN 144hz panel that's 1440p, will that be too hard to drive in AAA games? What is the actual point of G-Sync when you have V-Sync to limit it at the max refresh rate? (Etc 144) Also my current one is a IPS panel with response time up the boot but the colors are very good. I do like the color accuracy but I don't do anything mission critical but I still like to watch Planet Earth on Blu-ray... ? so to speak but I been recently getting into fast paced gaming, FPS, racing, platforming etc. I been aiming my scope onto two monitors, the Acer XB271HUA and the Asus PG278QR. I heard TN is better for gaming but do they look ugly? Is it worth getting a IPS "Gaming" panel for a bit more? There is no budget more than I don't want to waste too much money on things that are just fancy and not functional. Cheers and be kind I recently got into serious PC gaming.

Hello everyone, i recently built a new rig (ryzen 5 3600, gtx 1660 super gigabyte 3 fans, msi b450 tomahawk max, 16gb 3600mhz viper patriot, 256gb adata ssd, 2tb toshiba hdd, cooler master mb600l, and currently no psu ). I have a few problems with the rig, and one of them was an insane coil whine psu antec ne650m. I finnaly managed to return it and get my money back. So im looking to get a psu, but there is such a narrow selection in my country, there is no corsair or evga or even seasonic units. I found these two and im split between them. Be quiet! Straight Power 11 750w gold and the Fractal design ion+ 860p platinum. I need a silent psu. You can also suggest anything else and i might check it out, but im focused on these two right now. Thanks!

So, I'm back with more hardware questions. I'm upgrading my mobo to be ready for Ampere GPU's. My Dad is gonna buy my current mobo and GPU which works perfectly for him so I was wondering what are the main differences between MSI MPG X570 GAMING PLUS and the ROG Strix X570-F. The only really differences I could find are the MSI doesn't support SLI (which ampere doesn't do anyway (unless you go 3090)) and some RAM speeds, but since I already have RAM and mine is supported by the MSI board, is there any reason to go for the ASUS one (or any more expensive mobo for that matter)?

Budget (including currency): 1000-2000 EUR Country: Slovenia, but potentially buying from Switzerland (Toppreise.ch has better offers than my country due to lower tax and I know some people in Switzerland to get me stuff) Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: A little of everything. I would like the PC to support AAA games at decent setting. The main reason is I want to start poking at 3d and 2d game development with unity, unreal engine and into android development. Would use the machine for photo and video editing too, but i don't mind waiting a minute longer for rendering. If possible I would also like the PC to support VR development (not necessarily with the components I will buy now, but upgradable to that point). Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): My current setup consist of: i5-3450 CPU(3.1Ghz), 8gigs of RAM, H77M ASRock motherboard and an AMD Radeon HD 7700 series. Im using 1 monitor 1920x1080 60hz ag neovo. The PC is about 7 years old and works fine, but I cant play games anymore and some heavy programs really cripple the machine. Im looking for the best pc/euro purchase. For my new pc I would use a 2k or 4k main IPS 60hz monitor for work and a 144hz gaming full HD side monitor (Maybe adding the 3rd one down the road). You can recommend those as well.(if possible, the whole setup with monitors included should coat under 2000€. I would buy VR gear later down the road). I'm looking for the best price/performance ratio. I would like to buy the machine before 2021. I am very flexible and don't mind spending extra or less, if the premium is too high for that kind of work right now. Looking forward to suggestions from you all enthusiasts.

Hi Guys, I'm trying to get back into building a new pc since I sold my pc 2 years ago due to financial reason. Now that I got back on my feet I trying to build a new one. After searching the internet I found that the AMD Rx 5700xt is the one with performance and value that I wanted. ( I don't want to go with the Rx 5700 bios flash route) And I'm currently torn to choose between these 2 card as they were the cheapest from reputable brand that I can find. 1.Asrock RX 5700 XT Phantom Gaming D 8G OC 2.MSI 5700 XT mech OC (this card 10USD more than the Asrock) If anyone has one of these card please tell me your experience that I can find review for the MSI card but not so much for the Asrock. Btw I'm from Malaysia.

So I'm an engineering student from India and I'm planning to buy a second hand laptop. After searching extensively, I've come down to 1. An 8 month old under warranty Acer Nitro 5(i5 8th gen, gtx 1050, 1TB HDD). 2. A 2 year old MSI GL63 8RD 450IN(i7 8th gen, gtx 1050, 1TB HDD+128GB SSD) Both of these are offered for 40k INR. On one hand the former has an 8th gen i5, while on the other the latter has an 8th gen i7, so I'm very confused which one to buy. Also have another offer, a one year old HP Pavilion 15 Power(i5 8th gen, GTX 1050, 1TB HDD+256GB SSD) for 45k INR, although I've heard HP's cooling isn't that great, but please feel free to correct me. I will use this laptop for browsing, coding and gaming too, and will be dual booting. Anybody is welcome to pitch in their opinion on this. Thanks!

Venturing into the world of privately sold used computer parts for the first time (specifically cpu, mobo, ram.) And am wondering if there's any seasoned vets out there that would have any advice for me to help me not get ripped off.
