Monitor: Viotek GN27D If I turn the monitor off with the power button, it will only turn back on if I unplug the monitor's power cord and plug it back in again. After turning it off, I have tried holding the power button down, pressing it multiple times, and pressing it and waiting for a while. The power button didn't always have this issue, it only cropped up more recently. It is no longer under warranty, as I bought it in 2019. I have heard of similar power issues being related to capacitors. I do not have a soldering kit or any experience with that. Should I order some parts and give it a try? The issue isn't quite bad enough to justify paying a professional.

My power button led is not working, it works on startup but once it boots on Windows it stops working. I think this might be because of my prebuilt standoffs since I have a prebuilt HP Pavilion A6000 series PC. I don't want to fry another motherboard.

Little weird: Power button does shutdown and reset randomly
Ombiax posted a topic in Troubleshooting
Hi, So I am working on a project right now and we have a machine, which does a couple of important things. The problem is, we installed a button which should normally just reset the PC. Just like a reset button should do. Sometimes it resets the PC and sometimes it shuts down the PC. And it's random (at least I didn't see a pattern). It's just a tiny PC inside of a machine and we did all the wiring ourself and it should all be correctly wired. Why is it, that it sometimes resets and sometimes shuts down the PC. I could really need some help with it, because I have to get it done in 2 days. Thanks in advance. -
I recently bought a Wii U from a friend. Upon using I discovered that the R and ZR buttons do not work despite all the other buttons working. When I opened up the gamepad I did not find and physical damage to these buttons. I used some isopropyl alcohol to do some cleaning insides and nothing changed. At the end of the ribbon I was able to trigger ZR and R using my multimeter but that is as much progress I was able to make. I know the grey buttons on top of the ZR and R are not the problem since they work on other buttons. The photo attached shows that most "damage" I found, I was able to clean it all off.

Hi everyone, I’m having a bit of a strange issue which has never happened before when turning my pc on this morning (via case power button) nothing happened and if keep pressing nothing happens, it was all turned on at the socket and on the back of the psu as the mother board had its LEDs on, so I opened the back of the case to check the cables and psu they seemed all fine but i did tap the psu bait then pressed the power on button and it came on so kind of makes me wonder if the psu could be the issue which I hope not as its not very old, after shutting it down and putting the back cover back on and seated my pc back into place I switched it back on and the button did it again but pressed again it came on and now there is some sort of buzzing noise coming from some where. if anyone can help me figure this out it would be much appreciated

Hey all! So I have my old PS2 controller alongside a PC converter to make it playable on PC. It works fine for the most part, apart from the button designations that don't display the Playstation button symbols like "Square", "R1", "L1", "Start", etc., but it displays them as "Button 1", "Button 3", etc. Is there a way to change how they are displayed? I tried navigating the Devices & Printers in the Control Panel, but all I found was only the testing if all the buttons are working. Looking forward for some replies. Cheers!! P.S.: I don't have a PS3/ PS4/ XBox/ XBox One controllers because I've never had those consoles. I only have my PS2 from back in the day.

So my sister asked me to check her laptop because the power button was sunk, in fact, when I opened it I saw that she had pressed it very hard and that was why it no longer worked well, so I cut a piece of silicone stick from the mini hot glue gun of about 3 millimeters, I shaped to fit the button so that it could press the power button on the motherboard. However, when I was reassembling I started to connect everything again as it was, and I went ahead and connected the battery too. Here I think it was where I ruined everything because I hadn't finished with the rest and when I connected the WiFi antennas I pressed until they clicked and turned on the laptop by mistake but I turned off the laptop quickly and continued. When I finally finished, I turned it on but it only worked for some minutes and then it turned off just to not to turn on again ever , not even the fan turns but the power button LED stays on so I assume there is power but CPU died, it does not even enter BIOS. I have tried: I disconnect the battery from the MOBO to use the power cord but still after I just connect the power cord the LED on the power button turns on automatically and again fans don't spin. I removed the CMOS battery for a few minutes but it didn't work either. I am about to test this SSD in an external enclosure to test and check and see if I corrupted the boot files (I am hoping so) when press the power button and shut it off immediately... This thing is runnig hot even on battery so I unplugged it and also with the power cord it starts to run hot so at the moment is not connected to any source of power. I have a Dell 1707fp monitor, and the power button is stuck. Is there any way to fix it ?

The ui is total garbage on its own. Absolutely the most ugly OS I've ever seen, but the few solutions I have found try to break the OS alongside it. Why is it so hard to change this to this? I've tried ultraUX themepatcher, but every single fucking theme is the same ugly style for these buttons. The few themes that look even a little OK have to be payed for and don't look good.

Hewwo! I'd recently come down with an issue on my Razer NZXT H440, where the power button stopped working. I'd lost all hope, as my warranty had run out. Now, there is no real fix for this, but NZXT, if contacted, will supply a free power button for you, if you are having this issue. I hope this helps

Hello folks, I have an oddly specific question. I need to know how motherboard power circuits work. I know that they can be shorting the two pins on the motherboard corresponding to power. My question is whether the motherboard is detecting the circuit being closed, or whether the motherboard is detecting a voltage/current through the negative end. The reason behind this question is that I am trying to create a wireless power button. I have two approaches in mind. If the motherboard is simply detecting a voltage/current through the negative end, I can simply send a current through to the line. If the motherboard is somehow detecting the closing of the circuit, then my other option is to have a physical solution with a servo or something to physically push a conductive plate to close the circuit. If anybody has any insight on this, it would be really helpful. Thank you.

What are the chances LTT would put out a video investigating and calling out Logitech for knowingly putting out a defective mouse model, and not taking any steps to correct the issue? There are hundreds of complains about the G903 and it's defective switches. I personally have gotten pretty good at opening RMA tickets, since I've had to RMA 4 G903 in the last 6 months - sometimes immediately after taking the mouse out of the box and plugging it in. I've contacted their support over phone and explained the situation, and directed them to their own forums where this issue is reported by hundreds of users. They refuse to refund your purchase if it wasn't purchased directly from the Logitech webstore less than 30 days ago. The only 2 options they give you, is sending a replacement G903 (which is also defective), or to give you partial web store credit (to buy another product by a company that doesn't stand behind their products). It is a really unfortunate situation, because even though there are hundreds of reports of defective mice - every single report comes along with a ton of praise. The G903 + powerplay mat is the ultimate peripheral purchase - IF IT WASN'T DEFECTIVE! The issue was first reported in Sept 2017, and the only "acknowledgement" from Logitech is a single support user who frequents the forums (I don't even think he is a Logitech employee) who says they are aware and working on it - but nothing has happened in nearly 1 year - not even an official statement. Like most people, I've been a die-hard Logitech consumer for almost 20 years, and have preferred their products over their competitors. This is the first time I've had an issue with their product or their company... and it feels like they dgaf. When you click on the, what I call, "heart menu" and then not click on one of the options and move the cursor away, obviously the menu goes away again - as designed. The problem I have, is that with a higher resolution display and my mouse set to move the cursor relatively fast, when I overshoot the menu area the menu closes instantly, so I have to click the heart again. I have the same problem on the trackpad of my older laptop that is a bit glitchy. Also I know there are people that have some kind of motor skill impediment (for example because of disability or a medical condition). To improve accessibility of the like-, funny- and informative- buttons I would propose one of the following solutions: remove the heart button again and make the like-, funny- and informative- buttons directly accessible in the bottom strip of the comments. This would remove one click and solve the problem. However, I can see that this might not be desireable because of the look, the responsive design or the available space on lower resolution displays. keep the heart menu open when it was clicked until one of the menu items was chosen and then let the menu close implement a delay after the heart button was clicked so the menu only closes after a certain amount of time I have a few other thoughts on functional elements of the forum but these are more a matter of personal taste. Changing the heart button would be a small change that would make it easier to use.

I have Spotify installed on my Surface, however it would be great if the Play / Pause button worked on my keyboard to control it. When you change the volume it displays this, so theoretically it should be able to Play / Pause music. The button should do this in the first place. If this is even possible. Anyone know about this?

Today, I turned on my PC and felt a slight shock/vibration when I touched the power button. It turned on normally (with no visible signs of slowdown so far) and I'm using it to type in this post. I did a Google search on similar situations and reports of dead systems really had me worried that I might have harmed my new build even if it is working fine now. Should I be worried? Thanks in advance!

So I set the G8 key on my Logitech keyboard to "Open media player". This should open my default media player, VLC. Instead, it opens WMP. I found this strange since WMP isn't set as default for anything, including .cda files, which supposedly control this function. This isn't a serious problem, but is still a annoyance. Thank you, and have a nice day!

This project has been stalled, I will not continue working on it! Technically I'm only building a part of a PC here, but I think it's complex enough to warrant it's own build log. (Mods, if this doesn't fit here, please move it!) So we all know vandal power buttons like these: They've been used in quite a few mods by now, and I'll use one in my next case, but they are a bit boring. So, what about having a switch like this, but with RGB LEDs that can be individually controlled? That's what I'm working on right now and the plan is as follows. The switch will fit into 16mm holes, have 12 RGB LEDs and a micro HDMI connector on the side that connects to the mainboard headers (PWR_BTN, HDD_LED and USB_2) with a modified micro HDMI to HDMI cable. Everything in the switch will have to be custom. The casing, the ring, the internals, the firmware, everything. I'll also make a small command-line tool for controlling it via USB. Short demo video: This is a short demo video of three effects on the current prototype. Try out the online Visualizer 0.2 here! Uses: This button might be used as a regular button that just lights up in exactly the colour I want it to, but it could also serve as a minimalist clock, as a spinning loading indicator when a webpage is loading or as an Xbox 360 style indicator of how many controllers are connected. The two header connections for the PWR_BTN and HDD_LED mainboard headers are multi-purpose, so if I used multiple of these buttons, I could either control an additional LED with either of them, or perform an action when the button is pressed. The possibilities are pretty vast.
