Hi, I've just ordered 2 sticks of 3600 MHz, 16 GB RAM for my first ever desktop but I was told that there might be an issue with buying RAM separately and not from a RAM Kit. Is this true? I've never built a PC before so I start to get paranoid when I'm told these things. I purchased them separately because it was cheaper but if they won't work together I'll need to cancel the order as soon as possible. The RAM I bought was two Crucial Ballistix Black DDR4 3600MHz 16GB (BL16G36C16U4B) Sorry for any grammatical errors in this post, my first language isn't English.

Budget (including currency): $2000 CAD Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming (Satisfactory, modded Minecraft, No Man's Sky, Sea of Theives, Star Wars Battlefront, Cities: Skylines, Raft, League, Civilization, etc.), Music production (Ableton live 10), and work. I'd also like it to be somewhat future proofed. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I'm planning on building it in a few months. I'll also need a monitor, mic, keyboard, and mouse. I'm looking at the G502 hero for a mouse, Hyperx SoloCast for a mic, and Razer Cynosa v2 for a keyboard. I already have speakers and headphones, and I haven't looked at any monitors yet. Currently I'm looking to get the opinion of people who actually know what they're doing regarding my parts list, settling on a case, when to buy (ish), and how to bring down the price of my build. Current parts list: PCPartPicker Part List: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/dP3YYg CPU: Intel Core i7-10700K 3.8 GHz 8-Core Processor ($399.00 @ Canada Computers) CPU Cooler: Asus ROG Strix LC 240 80.95 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($229.99 @ Canada Computers) Motherboard: MSI Z490-A PRO ATX LGA1200 Motherboard ($224.00 @ Canada Computers) Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory ($144.99 @ Canada Computers) Storage: Western Digital SN750 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($79.99 @ Canada Computers) Storage: Seagate Barracuda Compute 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($69.99 @ Canada Computers) Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB Founders Edition Video Card ($549.99) I'll buy this when the price (hopefully) drops again in a few months. It's one of the reasons I'm waiting Power Supply: Corsair RM (2019) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($154.99 @ Canada Computers) Total: $1852.94 Is it better to go with an AMD CPU? Is the graphics card just wishful thinking? Am I overspending on anything/everything? What's a good case? I think the NZXT H510 elite looks cool but I've heard mixed reviews about its airflow. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Dear Community, since 4 years I put everything which was less than 10€ in my wallet into a small box to save some fun-money for worse times. Well – 2020 was kind of a “not so good” year and therefore I decided to make myself an awesome Christmas present. Unfortunately moved the whole project into a totally different direction…. But let’s start from the beginning. During summer I was already playing around with the idea to build a new gaming PC. I was kind of flashed from the Odyssey G9 and G7 monitors since my rig was almost 8 years old and from a gaming perspective outdated. So, I started to inform myself about the latest developments, added some tech channels like IGORS LAB, NEXXUS, LINUS… to my playlist and started to get really focused and nerdy about the latest development – man – I was hyped. Especially after the Nvidia announcement in September I was sure that I will build a really nice PC with an 3080’s card – I mean – those announced prices where great, only the 10 GB Vram made me kind of unhappy so I waited a little bit with the purchase and hoped for a Card like the 3080 super or TI to be more futureproof. Round about one month later were the new AMD Processors announced and I was sure that I will use one of these babies for my new monster. I was well prepared for the release day, I had several accounts open and beat the hell out of the “F5” – but without success, no Ryzen 5900X for me L. I was kind of disturbed since I had no idea how I could have been faster... It wasn’t even possible to see the required product on any vendor page listed. With no expectations I refreshed the next day the “Mediamarkt” page and suddenly, it was at least possible to preorder the 5900x with delivery date on the 24th of December for 580€ – “what a great Christmas present” I thought! So I started to “do my homework”, I checked out the best motherboards for Ryzen 5000, checked the QLV’s for the Memory’s, looked only for really high end components to fulfill my dream – man – I was pretty excited!! I decided then to order the following components round about the last November week: ASUS ROG Strix B550-E Gaming Ryzen 5900X ZOTAC RTX 3080 Trinity OC GSKILL F4-3600C16Q-64GTZNC Samsung 980 PRO Noctua DH15 Chromax black Seasonic FOCUS GX-750 Fractal Desingn Meshify S2 Samsung odyssey G7 Although it was one week before black Friday, it was almost impossible to buy the desired components incl. the PSU, which was really strange. But somehow, I was able to order everything, surprisingly also a “ZOTAC 3080 TRINITY OC” for 900€! I know, the price wasn’t that great, far away from the MSRP and there was still this VRAM thing but - HEY – I wanted the stuff right now for my Christmas vacation to play Cyberpunk with maxxed out settings. The first thing I received was my Odyssey G7 (the G9 was in the end too big for me) and I unboxed it carefully. After switching this thing on – connected to my old PC – I recognized already some pixel errors and a black bar in the upper left corner…. OH noo… but something is always broken if you order so much things, right? So, I had to send it back – fortunately another vendor had it on stock as well. In the meantime, also all my other stuff arrived, well packed and crispy good looking – except the CPU. I contacted “Mediamarkt” and they told me that this Processor is ordered but they are not able to tell me till when it will arrive, but for sure it will not be this year… I looked on other webpages and found the 5800x available on Amazon. Great, I mean it’s not an 5900X and there are some complains about the heat but I wanted my gaming PC and so I cancelled the 5900X and ordered the 5800X. After Christmas I received the package and was really excited to start to build my rig. I opened the box carefully and .. WHAT THE F*?!* .. the box was empty?? Someone really stole my processor out of the box?? No F?”=) way!!! Man – I WAS PISSED. I contacted Amazon and I wasn’t even sure if they will believe me or not. Fortunately, they checked my order-history and believed me and sent me my money back, because the 5800x wasn’t available anymore. I checked several other vendors and was lucky to order the 5800X again, this time the box contained also a processor J. I called a friend and I started carefully and well prepared with the building process – everything went smoothly and without any issue – even the update via flashback was no problem – till I tried to boot the system the first time. Black screen and a red LED on the MB. Hmmm ok, I checked all the cables and also the RAM’s but it looked quite good. I removed two of the four Rams and started the system again and voila, the BIOS was available. To make sure that one RAM was faulty I noted their SKU and rotated them – It was really one of the RAM’s. I mean don’t do they do a quality check before they sell them? Is it really the job of the consumer to do the final check of a high-priced product? OK but anyway, at least the system worked properly…. right? Since I had originally 64GB of RAM, which is a total overkill, I had 32GB left, still more than enough for gaming. I set everything up, installed Windows and recognized that I had some issues with my USB hubs. Some devices just didn’t get connected. I tried to update the drivers manually without success…. Hmm I started to investigate but don’t wanted to waste too much time, I wanted to play. So I thought I will take care about this later and started to enjoy the power of my 3080 online with some friends… but.. I really had an issue with package loss!? I was annoyed and checked the PING, everything was good! I googled again and figured out that I was not the only one with this Motherboard and this “Package loss” issue. The problem was/is caused by the LAN controller “intel 1225V” - and not solved yet? I mean, I bought an ASUS B550-E GAMING … G-A-M-I-N-G Motherboard. And they are not able to use properly working LAN chipsets or drivers to provide a stable internet connection?? Really?? I was able to fix this by downgrade my divers to early version. At least I was able to play online… suddenly I recognized a rattling noise during my gaming session… =(. First I thought that this was caused by a loose fan from my Noctua CPU Fan, so I removed the FAN checked everything again and rebooted the system. The noise was still there. I took a closer look and found out, that this sound was made by one of my GPUs fan. I turned up the Fanspeed with the ZOTAC tool and it was suddenly damn loud, the whole case was rattling, and it sounded like a small earthquake. I knew that I had to send my Card back and I also was aware that I won’t get a replacement since there is no availability right now. I tried a workaround to manipulate the fancurve, but the faulty fan was the middle one – which is connected to the right one :/. So I contacted ZOTAC and they told me that no RMA is possible since they have no Fans available right now. They told me to send the Card back to the Amazon. As a workaround I took a really old PCI3 Card from a friend of mine just to have access to my PC since the AMD Processors don’t have any Graphic-Chips integrated. When I booted the system the first time with the old card, suddenly all my USB devices worked properly. After a short investigation I found out, that the latest BIOS versions from ASUS have raised some problems with USB devices when you use a PCI4 card… NO ADDITIONAL WORDS NEEDED…. Now I am here, without my joyful present to myself – with a PC without GPU and without RAM (Since I also returned the whole Kit). I mean it took me a lot of money and time, I investigated and researched for the best components, read a lot of reviews and faced myself with so much problems that almost all the fun was gone. I have the feeling that the quality control of those products is getting worse by each release. The community at this sector pays a lot of money and then we receive only half-finished products without a properly running software? And the worst – all the reviewers don’t complain about this, they promote those things! But if you check all the online portals, they are full of complains, problems and issues all around the latest hardware. I am a normal User with no online credibility, I am not very active on several forums, I have no twitter account and no Youtube channel. I am just a guy who wants some gaming fun which is a nice hobby for me since I was a little boy. Although I wanted to share my story with you and maybe I am not the only one who made such an experience? Maybe there is a lack of honest reviewers who just not hype everything or doing super unrealistic test scenarios? Those things like the faulty LAN device or the BIOS issue, how can reviewers not see this? This is something major! -- The latest products – they are a mess!

Budget (including currency): 1000 USD ~ 1200 USD (Max) Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Wolfenstein, Doom Eternal, Mostly gaming and sometimes AI (I usually use AWS/GCP for this, so it's not something that's ranking high on my list) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I'm getting this build for my little brother. He's just starting out with gaming so I'm not looking at competitive high refresh rate monitors/ extreme peripherals. My target is to get this PC as future proof as possible as my parents will pretty much never upgrade the PC. I'd like to get a suggestion for a good monitor (with a 21'+ display) but that's not a priority rn and can be excluded from the budget. I don't need peripherals either as I will get them later. A 512 GB - 1 TB SSD will be enough. The parts I have decided on so far are: AMD Ryzen 3600 Processor + 16 GB RAM https://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails?ItemList=Combo.4104200 ASUS Prime X570-P Ryzen 3 AM4 https://www.newegg.com/asus-prime-x570-p/p/N82E16813119199 I also don't have a big preference for cases, and I very much don't want RGB everything. I am actually in Bangladesh and am planning to get these things brought in by a family friend. I want to buy the products on Black Friday and little idea about the sales (I've heard unbelievable things). Is there is a way for me to know about which products will be on sale? P.s. I want the PC to be compatible with a RTX 3070/ the thing AMD plans to bring out soon. I'd posted something similar on another thread and it was shifted here. But as I think it does not meet the guidelines I'm posting a more complete post here.

Hi all, it's been more than a decade since I joined and wrote something on a forum (either to discuss or get help), but this issue has challenged me enough so I am again giving it a try! I have decided to build a new desktop system to host a spare GPU. The system was built like this: CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor Motherboard: MSI MPG B550 Gaming Edge WiFi Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory Video Card: EVGA SC GAMING ACX 3.0 Black Edition GeForce GTX 1070 Ti 8 GB Video Card Power Supply: SHARKOON SilentStorm Cool Zero 650 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply On a M2 ssd I've then installed Manjaro Linux and successfully used everything for almost two enjoyable weeks. Then suddenly, during normal internet browsing, display went black (no signal) but MB and the rest of the system didn't show other failure signals. After a power reset, MB debug leds showed CPU as not POSTing. Not having a better idea, I've started re-seating all the components and basically nothing changed. I have at least done the following: re-seat and remove all storage drives check and re-seat CPU (thermal paste, bent pins, any evident damage or signs of overheating) changing DRAM sticks configurations (single, double, different slots and permutations). Some of the results being illegal according to MSI manual, would toggle DRAM debug led on this MB. using another PSU known to work. I must note that I did a HW change just prior to this failure. There is a bug making the MB unable to autonomously reboot or shutdown when the keyboard is plugged to one of the top USB sockets (close to the PS2), so having discovered that I moved the keyboard connector to another USB, but used the computer normally for about a day after that. I have bought the following MB from asus as a control test: Asus ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING WIFI II ATX AM4 Motherboard And on this board still no POSTing, but the debug LED always lights DRAM. On the MSI one, still CPU led. I am starting to think that it could actually be the CPU, but I refuse to believe that I could be so unlucky for no specific reason. At the moment I don't have replacements for DDR4, CPU, GPU to test them out. But since the issue presented itself after some proper use, I was wondering if someone reading this could actually come up with other good suggestions.

I am building a pc with the following relevant specs for the problem I'm facing right now: Case: Lian Li Mesh II Performance Mobo: Asus tuf gaming b660+ wifi d4 AIO: Arctic Liquid Freezer II 240 So I had to install the LGA1700 adapter in the motherboard in order to run this AIO. After installing the motherboard onto the case, I noticed that the 1700 bracket on the back of the motherboard seems to be touching the plate of the case where a fan hub is pre-installed. My question is if this is a problem? Is there some risk of shorting or something if these 2 parts are touching? Sorry if it's a silly question but I'm a bit nervous moving forward without understanding this. Hopefully the pictures make it clear.

Budget (including currency): $1300 max (not including VR) Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: VR, specifically Valve Index Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Parts lists: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4PfgBj https://pcpartpicker.com/list/DjGz6r , LG 29WP500 monitor. I built a computer in 2016 and now feel like I'm completely out of it and I constantly second guess myself. I need guidance. And under budget would be really cool if anyone has good ideas. One of the lists is a mini ITX Ryzen 5600X build and the other is a micro ATX i5 12400Fbuild. Shooting for a 3060/6600XT/3600ti level for a GPU. Something relatively cheap for now but maybe upgraded in a few years. Rest of the parts are unimportant, cooling and performance far out weigh aesthetics. Only stipulation is that I would really like the PSU to be 80+ gold, so I'm looking for recommendations on that. I'd like the smallest form factor possible, but ITX gets expensive real quick. Also you may have noticed the lack of a cooler, I have a Noctua NH D-15 from the old build that I'll rip out and put in the new one.

Budget (including currency): $1500-$2000 https://pcpartpicker.com/list/p7P4Vw Very new to all this and not sure what are the best parts to use and such to build a decent gaming PC and would like recommendations on what parts would be better suited and such for help on building a PC. Any help would be a appreciated and tips!

I have recently upgraded my GPU to a 4080 and am looking to upgrade my current setup. I've been currently gaming on 1080p @144hz and am looking to get the most out my new card. However, I have been trying to find a good monitor with a dedicated G-sync module. I've been having trouble trying to sort out all the options available to me and have been struggling to decide what monitors are out there that I will get the most performance out of. Also been debating if I should settle with 1440p or stick with 4k? My main use case is gaming but I want to stay at 144hz or above while trying to get better/best image quality. I've put in roughly 60 hrs of research and I'm still at somewhat of a loss. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Here are my current specs: GTX 1060 Gigabye AORUS B450 M 2x8 GB Kingston hyperX Fury 3200 MHZ Samsung 970 evo plus and some cheap af PSU that i dont care about lol For my new build im planning on keeping the same Motherboard, RAM and SSD Heres a link to the current build: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/rvtnFg (including the parts i currently have in this pc) Are there any recomendations / upgrades i can make to this build while keeping the CPU AMD and the GPU Nvidia? I'm also curious if there are any compatability issues i should be aware of as im planning on buying the CPU right now but if anyone knows any alternatives that will be cheaper for christmas sale then please say so (same with the gpu) Any help is appreciated Thanks (edited because i forgot to add the PSU to the pc part picker link)

Budget (including currency): >3000 RMB (Around 400 USD) Country: Mainland China Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: NAS, media server, virtual machines and maybe some game server hosting Other details: I am currently hoping to get a used Dell PowerEdge R720xd for 1530RMB (~225USD) with: -Dual E5-2670 V2 CPUs (10 core, 20 thread, 2.5GHz base, 3.3GHz boost each) -64GB of DDR3 RAM -A H710 raid card that I'm going to cross flash to IT mode In addition, I'm going to get a four 16GB optane ssds (hopefully new) , two for RAID1 boot, two for L2 a read and write cache For hard drives I'm getting two 4TB Seagate Skyhawk hard drives that seem to be used for 215RMB each (~30USD). Questions: 1. I have the option to get 3*3TB generic SAS drives for an extra 450RMB(~70USD), should I take it and not buy the Seagate drives? 2. Is there enough compute to handle a couple of game severs? I'm pretty sure raid will run just fine, but I kind of want to rent out game servers as my internet connection well, not great, but still reasonably good (100Mbps up, 30Mbps down) 3. What sort of RAID should I run? Four hard drives of this capacity is going blow my budget. RAID0 is not an option, cause I don't trust the drives. 4. With the above question in mind, should I instead buy cheaper, smaller capacity 500GB drives that add up to the same capacity? 5. What should I sacrifice on now(that I can hopefully upgrade later) to improve something else? 6. What else do you guys suggest? (Software I should use, stuff like that) Thanks in advance for your advice!

OK. this is a super frustrating situation, I'll try and put all the facts up here logically. BUILD Asrock B660M-ITX Intel i5-12400F 2X8GB DDR4R Thermaltake 600W SFX PSU NVME BOOT SSD GTX 560 GPU (placeholder) PC works per perfectly fine. However, obviously the GPU seems odd, thats because it's only there because the intended GPU won't post. I bought an RX 6700 as it is clearly the best bang for buck on Australia at $450. The initial build seemed to go OK with the first RX 6700. New PC booted, installed Windows 11, but soon I was getting GPU errors, and the audio via HDMI was crackling and awful. I RMA'ed that card, assuming a faulty product, but the replacement wouldn't even boot! I took the lot to my local PC repairer, and we tried the following. Put new GPU in identical PC. but with older cpu/mobo (about 5 years old). confirming the card worked fine with the same PSU. Swapped the PSU into my case, no boot Updated BIOS to latest 7.02, no boot. Reset BIOS. no boot. Replaced RX 6700 with GTX560, boots fine. The system draw is well under 600W (RX 6700 draws 175W) and posted fine with the very same PSU. Basically, I'm stumped...why would a known-working GPU NOT work on a known working PC? Please, can repliers avoid blaming: Windows 11 Intel AMD Drivers AMD Hardware As these types of bias-based opinions are of no help. Thanks.

hello everyone this Is my first build ever, I am going with the ryzen 5 2600 and rx 5700 though I currently live in turkey and prices are very high around here, so what I have done is go for low end components for everything else to stay with-in budget Is this a good idea?? specs: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Asus Prime B450M-K Soket AM4 mATX Team T-Force Vulcan TUF Gaming Alliance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3200 Asus Tuf 3 Radeon RX 5700 8GB GDDR6 Gaming James Donkey JD120 120GB SSD Disk GamePower Mythril ARGB LED case GamePower GP-650 80+ Bronze 650W Power Supply Note: if you have any monitor recommendations as well that would be nice thanks all!

Today I finally decided to pull the trigger and purchase all the parts for the gaming PC I've always wanted to build. I got all of the parts in various carts on different websites and as soon as I went to add the graphics card I noticed that the msi GeForce RTX 2080 8 GB GAMING X TRIO is sold out absolutely everywhere despite PCpartpicker saying otherwise. Unless I wanted to buy it used off Amazon (which I do not). Since I would rather not wait an indefinite amount of time to get my PC actually up and running, I am wondering what some good alternatives are with similar performance and in a similar price range (like $650 USD or below preferably). I will attach my parts list with the parts I can actually get my hands on so you know what I'm working with. Thank you in advance. Hey guys, So I bought an Asus Z270F back in 2017 in order to build a PC , I also got a g4560 just to install windows and stuff , was planning to switch to a 7600K. The only thing is, I never got to finish that build and was getting back into it now. I bought an SSD , a 700W PSU and 16 gigs of RAM, put everything together and now I'm waiting to buy a graphics card, which will either be a 1070ti or a 1080. A friend of mine recommended that I switch to Coffee Lake because of the huge boost (Coffee Lake wasnt out when I bought my mobo, bad timing). I will lose a lot of money since I spent like 250 usd on that mobo and I can only sell it for 100-120 tops. It's also as good as new, I've used it for 3 days, so it seems like a waste to me. Will I be losing out a lot by sticking with this build and getting a 7700K? I read that the temps are horrible on these chips too. I'll use it for gaming 1080p and web browsing only. Do you think the 7700K will hold out in the next couple of years?

I’m trying to build a desktop inside the ASUS GT500i. I have looked at a lot of cases and it’s the one I’ve chose considering design and cooling. It comes with 3 Arura 120mm fans ( RGB ) in the front and a 140mm fan ( Non RGB ) in the back. I don’t want it to be too expensive, hopefully under £1,500. I can also transfer parts from my older system like the PSU and JetFlow fans for the time being to cover the more expensive costs. I have my fingers crossed, trying to build a more GPU for games based desktop. That can hopefully handle some video editing as well, though this isn’t a deal breaker if it can’t. I’m in the UK so my opinion are slightly limited. Any suggestions?

I'm building a new pc and I'm down to just the storage. Should I get a small SSD to install windows on by its self? Is there any benefit? I already have a 1TB NVME for everything else. Thanks!

Option 1Budget (including currency): 1100€ Country: Finland Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Warzone, League of Legends, any future games. Other details: I am currently having troubles playing warzone with my current PC. (Current PC). My display is an Asus 60Hz and peripherals Corsair K55 and Steelseries Sensei Raw also HyperX Cloud2 headphones. And was planning to gather money from work for a new build and later upgrade my peripherals but mainly new display. I don't know much about these PC parts and what to focus first. But have started to look into it more and know something lol so i am a novice. I would like to know which of these builds would be worth while although i think the one with Ryzen 5 3600 is much more better. Option 1 or Option 2
