Hi all, I’m looking to build a PC and have been driving myself bonkers looking at cases. I have it narrowed to an airflow case and the 3 I’ve come to like are the lian li 216, Masterbox TD500 mesh and the Meshify 2 compact. What are your thoughts on these? Have other recommendations? Great! Here are the criteria. 1) sub $250; 2) ATX Mobo; 3) accommodates 240mm gpu; 4) handle up to 260mm cpu cooler Thanks

Hey Everyone! While looking at Black Friday deals I found both a GIGABYTE 3060 with 12GB of VRAM and a MSI 4060 with 8GB of VRAM around similar prices. I currently have a 2060. My most common played games are: Cities Skylines 2, Space Engineers, Age of Empires, and Transport Fever 2. While I do play FPS games, I’m less concerned with getting the most frames in those game as I just play casually. I also do video editing as part of my job, so I’m not sure if having more VRAM will affect rendering performance. I also run a Ryzen 9 3900X Thank you in advance for your help. And to all the Americans here, I hope you had a good thanksgiving!

Hello everyone. I leave below a configuration for a gaming PC to play games in 1080p. I have a budget of about 2000€ (and must include mouse, keyboard and monitor in addition to the case with hardware). I live in Italy so I prefer to buy in a shop like amazon.it. I wanted to know if there was anything to improve or if this configuration is okay. Also could you list me out some top of the line components for such a pc (performance wise ). company and model speific guidance is required . I have quite an idea of the pc market but have been out of loop for a long time to know "the best components" my knowledge of pc market s stuck in rtx 2080 era or 3090 . now we have 8000 mhz ram apparently . haha times change . OF course i shall do my due diligence of research before i counter your suggestions .

Hey, first time posting in a forums really and just wanted to know something, I have googled but I keep getting back circled back to the same question. I am considering upgrading in the next few days to a 6700xt GPU as well as a Ryzen 5 5600x CPU, I will be keeping the other parts ofc as they do not really need replacing. My current build is: Ryzen 5 3600 2x8gb Ram sticks b450 tomahawk max mobo 1660 super GPU Lian lia 2 case (I can't remember the name) PSU is Corsair RM550x (550 watts) 5 RGB fans Standalone mic (Desk mic) 3 storage drives 1 SSD 120gb for windows. 1 M.2 Nvme SSD 1TB, and 1, 4TB HDD. 2 monitors connected (assuming monitors just run off of gpu power anyway) And your typical peripherals. My question is would my current PSU be good enough and run safely enough to keep it the same and still swap out my old parts (6700XT and a Ryzen 5 5600x) I did look on PC part picker it said 450w min, I was told before just add 100w to any build and you'll be fine with that PSU wattage, I will not be overclocking as I have 0 interest in it, I would spend money on a 650w PSU but I really do not want to be spending the price that it is currently, I did however bump in a Corsair CV650 or something which was £65 (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-Non-Modular-Continuous-Low-Noise-Sleeving/dp/B08YK4ZQ54/ref=sr_1_16?adgrpid=70296135988&hvadid=310660856560&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=1007147&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=13821383176776502663&hvtargid=kwd-581968574378&hydadcr=19081_1751922&keywords=corsair+psu&qid=1689032659&sr=8-16) I just want to know if 550w would be more than enough to run the new setup, my pc is like 4 years old and I really need to upgrade my gpu as games recently are becoming very hungry for ram and I can see my gpu falling behind on the latest released games, thank you for your time <3, as I said first forum post hopefully was not too bad.

Budget (including currency): unknown Country: Japan Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Basic gaming and school work Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): honestly as long as it works nothing crazy, I've an old 2010 Asus laptop or 2010 MacBook pro I could get away with giving them but idk... So I just moved to Japan with my kids and while they can game on their switches (handme downs) and on the PS4 (also a handme down) I figured they will need a gaming/school pc. Plan on homeschooling at least until they learn Japanese and send them out in town for school ( boy and girl, ages 7 and 8). My biggest issue is what type of setup do I get them? Like should they have laptops so if we want to travel they have access? Do I do virtual machines, or dedicated setups for each? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hello everyone, I'm currently in the process of planning a high-performance NAS setup for my needs and would appreciate some feedback on the components that I have selected. Here is the list of components that I have chosen: Case: iStarUSA M-4160-ATX Motherboard: ASUS WS C422 PRO/SE RAM: Micron MTA9ASF2G72PZ-3G2R (64GB) PSU: Corsair RM1000X HDD: Seagate IronWolf 16TB NAS (x20) NVME Cache: Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB Switch: Ubiquiti Ubnt Unifi Switch 24 UPS: Apc SMC1500IC 1500VA Shelter: APC Ar7721 Vertical I'm mainly concerned about whether these components are compatible with each other and if there are any potential issues that I may have overlooked. Additionally, I would appreciate any feedback on whether these components are well-suited for a high-performance NAS setup, and if there are any alternative components that may be worth considering. Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi everyone, I have an idea for a build using an M1 Mac Studio with an EGPU. This build is because I work on Mac and don't want to keep switching computers to play games after work. So I'm deciding to keep it all in one build, have a small form factor, and change the OS when I want to play. I know this approach is expensive and easier to build a PC, but I don't want to have another entire computer to maintain. My question is would it work on the windows dual boot side? And would it increase performance enough to play high-end games Budget (including currency): 3K (3000 USD) Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Work, Cyberpunk 2077, Witcher 3, any high-end game that requires performance really I have an extensive steam library. So I have been paying attention in detail to computers for about 5 years years now, built my pc about 4 years ago and have been content with it. I am now gonna be buying and building a new system soon and wanted some input from people are more knowledgeable than me. I haven’t really got a budget, I’m in high school, I have already saved a large amount of money for college, I have a job that pays me well for what I do, and I got an incredibly large amount of financial aid from universities so luckily I will not have to be worrying about that so I thought I would spend my disposable income now on something I could use for the next 7-8 years. I have been doing some researching and haven’t really been able to decide what I want to do in the GPU and CPU departments but I have narrowed it down to the options in the topic name. For the CPUs I am really just tempted to get the 7950x3d just for the best performance but was wondering if there are any drawbacks and if the price/performance is ridiculously better on the other options where it would be stupid not to take advantage of them? Then with the GPUs I really am unsure what to get because it is a $150 difference but the vram on the xtx is 8 gbs more even though it is cheaper i have also seen that the drivers are really progressing so that is intriguing as well, but is there really any reason I shouldn’t or just a definitive reason to get a 4080. I don’t really have a big draw to rt but I have a 2060 super and raytracing on the 20 series cards was kind of unserious, is it that much better? Just thought about this on my part list I will attach is there any significant benefits to getting like. A taichi compared to the board I have on this? Anyways I’m attaching my part list to this and am looking for any feedback anyone wants to give from the ram latency to the case all is appreciated and welcome. Have a good rest of your day! https://pcpartpicker.com/user/TacticalFlamingo1151/saved/DvbtCJ

OK. this is a super frustrating situation, I'll try and put all the facts up here logically. BUILD Asrock B660M-ITX Intel i5-12400F 2X8GB DDR4R Thermaltake 600W SFX PSU NVME BOOT SSD GTX 560 GPU (placeholder) PC works per perfectly fine. However, obviously the GPU seems odd, thats because it's only there because the intended GPU won't post. I bought an RX 6700 as it is clearly the best bang for buck on Australia at $450. The initial build seemed to go OK with the first RX 6700. New PC booted, installed Windows 11, but soon I was getting GPU errors, and the audio via HDMI was crackling and awful. I RMA'ed that card, assuming a faulty product, but the replacement wouldn't even boot! I took the lot to my local PC repairer, and we tried the following. Put new GPU in identical PC. but with older cpu/mobo (about 5 years old). confirming the card worked fine with the same PSU. Swapped the PSU into my case, no boot Updated BIOS to latest 7.02, no boot. Reset BIOS. no boot. Replaced RX 6700 with GTX560, boots fine. The system draw is well under 600W (RX 6700 draws 175W) and posted fine with the very same PSU. Basically, I'm stumped...why would a known-working GPU NOT work on a known working PC? Please, can repliers avoid blaming: Windows 11 Intel AMD Drivers AMD Hardware As these types of bias-based opinions are of no help. Thanks.

Budget (including currency): >3000 RMB (Around 400 USD) Country: Mainland China Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: NAS, media server, virtual machines and maybe some game server hosting Other details: I am currently hoping to get a used Dell PowerEdge R720xd for 1530RMB (~225USD) with: -Dual E5-2670 V2 CPUs (10 core, 20 thread, 2.5GHz base, 3.3GHz boost each) -64GB of DDR3 RAM -A H710 raid card that I'm going to cross flash to IT mode In addition, I'm going to get a four 16GB optane ssds (hopefully new) , two for RAID1 boot, two for L2 a read and write cache For hard drives I'm getting two 4TB Seagate Skyhawk hard drives that seem to be used for 215RMB each (~30USD). Questions: 1. I have the option to get 3*3TB generic SAS drives for an extra 450RMB(~70USD), should I take it and not buy the Seagate drives? 2. Is there enough compute to handle a couple of game severs? I'm pretty sure raid will run just fine, but I kind of want to rent out game servers as my internet connection well, not great, but still reasonably good (100Mbps up, 30Mbps down) 3. What sort of RAID should I run? Four hard drives of this capacity is going blow my budget. RAID0 is not an option, cause I don't trust the drives. 4. With the above question in mind, should I instead buy cheaper, smaller capacity 500GB drives that add up to the same capacity? 5. What should I sacrifice on now(that I can hopefully upgrade later) to improve something else? 6. What else do you guys suggest? (Software I should use, stuff like that) Thanks in advance for your advice!

I have recently upgraded my GPU to a 4080 and am looking to upgrade my current setup. I've been currently gaming on 1080p @144hz and am looking to get the most out my new card. However, I have been trying to find a good monitor with a dedicated G-sync module. I've been having trouble trying to sort out all the options available to me and have been struggling to decide what monitors are out there that I will get the most performance out of. Also been debating if I should settle with 1440p or stick with 4k? My main use case is gaming but I want to stay at 144hz or above while trying to get better/best image quality. I've put in roughly 60 hrs of research and I'm still at somewhat of a loss. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi all, it's been more than a decade since I joined and wrote something on a forum (either to discuss or get help), but this issue has challenged me enough so I am again giving it a try! I have decided to build a new desktop system to host a spare GPU. The system was built like this: CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor Motherboard: MSI MPG B550 Gaming Edge WiFi Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory Video Card: EVGA SC GAMING ACX 3.0 Black Edition GeForce GTX 1070 Ti 8 GB Video Card Power Supply: SHARKOON SilentStorm Cool Zero 650 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply On a M2 ssd I've then installed Manjaro Linux and successfully used everything for almost two enjoyable weeks. Then suddenly, during normal internet browsing, display went black (no signal) but MB and the rest of the system didn't show other failure signals. After a power reset, MB debug leds showed CPU as not POSTing. Not having a better idea, I've started re-seating all the components and basically nothing changed. I have at least done the following: re-seat and remove all storage drives check and re-seat CPU (thermal paste, bent pins, any evident damage or signs of overheating) changing DRAM sticks configurations (single, double, different slots and permutations). Some of the results being illegal according to MSI manual, would toggle DRAM debug led on this MB. using another PSU known to work. I must note that I did a HW change just prior to this failure. There is a bug making the MB unable to autonomously reboot or shutdown when the keyboard is plugged to one of the top USB sockets (close to the PS2), so having discovered that I moved the keyboard connector to another USB, but used the computer normally for about a day after that. I have bought the following MB from asus as a control test: Asus ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING WIFI II ATX AM4 Motherboard And on this board still no POSTing, but the debug LED always lights DRAM. On the MSI one, still CPU led. I am starting to think that it could actually be the CPU, but I refuse to believe that I could be so unlucky for no specific reason. At the moment I don't have replacements for DDR4, CPU, GPU to test them out. But since the issue presented itself after some proper use, I was wondering if someone reading this could actually come up with other good suggestions.

I am building a pc with the following relevant specs for the problem I'm facing right now: Case: Lian Li Mesh II Performance Mobo: Asus tuf gaming b660+ wifi d4 AIO: Arctic Liquid Freezer II 240 So I had to install the LGA1700 adapter in the motherboard in order to run this AIO. After installing the motherboard onto the case, I noticed that the 1700 bracket on the back of the motherboard seems to be touching the plate of the case where a fan hub is pre-installed. My question is if this is a problem? Is there some risk of shorting or something if these 2 parts are touching? Sorry if it's a silly question but I'm a bit nervous moving forward without understanding this. Hopefully the pictures make it clear.
