Hey guys, I wanted to get your input on the build I have planned out for my company's main video workstation. If you notice any strange shortcomings/problems in the pcpartpicker list, please do me a favor and provide some feedback. I have a few questions in mind: - Does Adobe Premiere Pro (my main editing suite atm) still prefer higher clock speed over more CPU cores? - Should I opt for DDR5-6000 (192GB) or DDR5-8000 (96GB) options? - I need max transfer speeds for the usb ports at the front of the case. Do you have any case recommendations? I am no specialist when it comes to PC Builds, although I know some bits here and there. Really appreciate your guys' input :-) 1. Budget & Location I am from germany and planning to buy from mindfactory, since it's a german company as well. I am open for buying suggestions tho. 2. Aim Heavy Video editing workflows (8k R3D files, 8k ProRes 422 files, stereoscopic editing, 360 stitching, Colour Grading and editing in Premiere Pro, After Effects, Davinci Resolve and occasional Mocha Pro tracking, h265 decoding) 3D-animation in Blender and (occasionally) SideFX Houdini 3. Monitors Currently 2 monitors @4k60 each. Not planning to have higher Hertz numbers, since color accuracy is important for me. Might add a third display @4k60 4. Peripherals Im good for peripherals atm. 5. Why are you upgrading? Really hitting rock bottom with my 64GB Ram RTX2060 AMD Ryzen 9 3950x rn. Premiere pro can't play back at full res without stutter etc. Budget (including currency): Since it's a business spending, I'm pretty chill there. Shouldnt be above 6000€ tho. Country: Germany Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: See AIM section PCPartPicker List I thought was good: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/49h4BL

Hi there, I have ordered these parts and most of these have arrived now. Though I just watched a video yesterday saying how the arctic cooler has clearence issues with ram and so does the case, and I’m worried that it’s not going to fit, if so, does anyone have any recommendations around a different cooler 240mm since I want it to be top mounted. list for build, keep in mind, cl36 was used instead of cl 30 https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/Lw866D

Background I have been into building PCs for 10 years now, and in that time I have only ever had one system with an AMD cpu in it, an FX 8350, and that cpu wasn’t the best to say the least. I paired it with the GTX 680 from EVGA , oh how we miss you EVGA GPUs. Fast forward a few years and my experience was so bad, I remember there being a bug in the original Mass Effect that was AMD specific and killed a 25 hour playthrough of mine. My next 3 builds all were Intel and Nvidia based. This is mostly due to my biases and lack of competitive options from AMD. Today the pricing from nVidia and the lack of real innovation from Intel has made AMD look more appealing than ever before. Which is why a few months ago I decided to take the plunge and upgrade my PC to an all AMD platform. This is how my experience has been so far. The Issues CPU I have a list of the full system specs at the bottom of this post, but I decided to go with the Ryzen 7 7800x3D for my CPU and the RX 7900 xt for my GPU. In the first few days after completing a build I will go through several stress tests allowing me to get a feel for where the build performs and if there are any issues, crashes, thermal throttling, etc. Oh and were there problems. The first issue I came across was random blue screens when doing seemingly innocuous tasks like browse the web or transferring files. I assumed this was due to lingering intel drivers in my OS install. I know I should have done a fresh install, but I was lazy. After several hours of registry edits and uninstalling drivers it was still crashing, I gave in and made a fresh install of Windows 11. This solved all the issues I was having right? Well, no it didn’t. It did however lead me to diagnosing the problem. I looked around online and found that many users were having similar issues to mine. I followed what I found online, went into the bios, disabled the EXPO RAM profile, and reran my tests. After passing those tests, I used the pc normally for about 2 weeks with no issues. I wasn't satisfied with the solution. I, for lack of a better word, am obsessive when it comes to my PC and the lack of ability to use EXPO didn't sit right with me. So I looked further into the EXPO issues surrounding the new x3D cpus. I guess that's why they call it the bleeding edge. I found through my hours of scrolling forums for fixes that my motherboard, a Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX, was what seemed to be the main culprit. So I updated my bios, re-enabled EXPO, and ran my tests again. Stability and I was suffering far fewer crashes. After this I just said to hell with it and turned off expo and moved on. Cut to a month or so later and gigabyte had released a new bios that was said to improve EXPO performance. So I updated the BIOS and re-enabled EXPO again and ran my tests. Stability was rock solid and I havent had any issues with blue screens. So now that the issue was fixed everything would be all good and I wouldn't have to open the PC case again right? Nope! GPU My other main issue with switching has been the alarming difference between the temp of the GPU core and the hotspot. The hotspot was regularly 35-40c hotter than the core temp. A delta between the two is normal, but a delta of this size meant something was up. So my first thought was maybe there was a bad mount of the GPU cooler.I took the gpu and replaced the thermal paste. When I ran my test again, the temp delta had dropped to about 20c. I was happy with the results and moved on. However another couple months down the road I noticed the fans on my gpu had gotten significantly louder. I checked the temps, and wouldn’t you know it , the delta had risen again back to almost 40c, with the Hotspot hitting 110c. I was very concerned at this point that I had a defective card or cooler. I was in no position to wait for an RMA. While researching the issue I found that many users were also having this issue. Diggin’ further into internet forums and reddit post, the problem seemed to be an issue of the gpu “pumping-out” the TIM. TIM pump-out is when changes in heat cause microscopic warping of the GPU die and substrate which cause the thermal paste to move outward and leave very little contact with the center of the GPU. So, based on a suggestion I had seen on several of the post and forum threads I replaced the TIM with a PTM7950 thermal pad. This was a phase change material, meaning as the pad heats up it becomes a liquid. As you heat cycle the material it will push out and fill any air gaps allowing for better contact between the heatsink and GPU core. So far this solution has seemed to quell the extreme delta that was appearing. At the time of writing this the fix has only been in place a few days but the results have spoken for themselves. After looping the Unigine Superposition benchmark for a couple hours, the GPU core never hit more than 70c and the hotspot 81c. This is an improvement of 72%. We will see how the temps behave in the long term, but for now I am happy with the solution. Final Thoughts Most of this post has been me complaining about the issues I’ve had switching to AMD. I know most people hate troubleshooting problems and a product should “just work”. You know what though, I’ve gotten a lot of enjoyment out of solving these issues. Just like a detective investigating a case, or putting together a jigsaw puzzle the more things you uncover and answers you find bring with it that sweet, sweet dopamine rush. This build has re-ignited my love for this hobby and reminded me why I got into building PCs in the first place. It’s all about the process, not the final product. While this journey has had many issues, AMDs performance has been nothing but great. The issues I’ve had with EXPO have all but disappeared. As for the GPU, I say do you research, look up reviews, or just be prepared to learn to take a gpu apart in your sleep as you will be replacing the thermal paste often. As far as my feeling about AMD, they are a real option, and will be on my radar for future builds and upgrades. The GPU and CPU market have never had more competition and I am excited to see what innovations this competition produces. My name is LB and thanks for reading. Budget (including currency): As low as possible, ideally 16 PCs. Mexican Pesos. Country: Mexico Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Word, Excel, Chrome, Firefox. Programs that are essential to teach to high school students who haven’t had access to PCs before but probably have smartphones. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): We need everything from a monitor to periferals. A local business man is helping setup a non profit with a LAN center initial plan was to buy laptops, and I suggested the most cost effective way is to build desktops. I’ve built more than 10+ systems for family and friends but have never optimized for this. My thoughts: Ryzen 3g b450 8gb ram any respectable stick 250gb SSD Any 180 or less USD monitor. Generic dell mouse Generic dell keyboard Bronze PSU Windows key Would intel be more reliable long term? Manufacturer offerings in the country for more budget oriented PCs are a bit of a ripoff and very outdated, but the promise of reliability, etc is interesting. Am i making a mistake by overlooking these? Is extra networking equipment needed to prevent people from accessing unappropiate sites? Would an antivirus really be needed or can windows defender be trusted? What do you think would break first? We could add some spare mouse, keyboards, SSDs. what about chromebook's? some are already really capable and with tools like Google docs, office in the cloud, etc they can be really usefull machines but i worry on the long term reliability of these. Any and all recommendations are welcome. Edit 1: this is the current build option (Amazon wishlist) for close to $438 USD office and windows licenses not included

Budget (including currency): (ZAR)R20 000 Country: South Africa Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Fortnite, blender, visual studio, valorant, minecraft, Jenshin compact Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hello, I would like assistance with building a computer. I have selected some parts and created 2 separate builds Intel/AMD. I'm not sure which one i should go with in terms of price to performance. My brother whom helped me picking parts suggested i wait till next year February/January for new tech to come out, so that prices drop. Is now a good time to buy PC parts, or should i wait to find better deals? and should i go for intel or AMD? I was told that intel is more user friendly and AMD can sometimes have problems, where the user is needed to go into the computer setting to change stuff. I have peripherals such as a mouse, keyboard and headset. I would also like to be able to play games on a 1920 x 1080 monitor (which i will buy separately) at atleast 144hz. Any guidance will be appreciated

The budget is ideally around $1300 Australian dollars ( Up to $1500 max). Will probably be used for music software, gaming and work on 1080p 165fps with medium to high settings. Mixcraft 9 (Music software), Fortnite and Minecraft. Has to have at least 500gb of SSD storage and 16gb of RAM. Motherboard with at least 4 RAM slots for future upgrades. No preference for the case size. Ideally no HDD drive. Aesthetics don't matter for this build. Looking for upcoming sales. Will build soon. Starting fresh upgrading from a laptop. Monitor and operating system are bought separately and aren't needed on this list. Don't need any extra peripherals. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thank you, Carl

Budget (including currency): $2,800 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: CS:GO, Valorant, MW2, Warzone 2, GTA6 (if it ever releases), Streaming Videos, Potentially hosting a NAS Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Link to Build ---> https://pcpartpicker.com/list/76YPKX So I had planned and got the parts for this build, but before I start building tomorrow I wanted to get some feedback on somethings related to the build and towards software. Build Specific Questions: - Do you see anything devastatingly wrong with this build, such as a major compatibility issue that would make this PC not work or be incredibly bottle necked/ - Is there any parts that I should swap out or are redundant? I am not planning on switching out the CPU, GPU, MOBO combo because I feel that it is personally the best configuration for me, I also won't be changing the 970 evo, 4tb HDD, PSU, Keyboard, or Mouse because I already had them from an older build. - Will there be an issue with the heat sink on the ssd? I hadn't thought about it when I had purchased it, but I just realized that there may be an issue with the m.2 shielding on the mobo. Will it fit under the shield, and if it doesn't can I remove the heat sink without risking damage to the drive as the alternative to just returning it, or is there an unshielded m.2 slot on this board that has the same performance as the shielded one? - I have concerns about the fans power and RGB. I went the NZXT H6 Flow RGB case, the NZXT Kraken 360 RGB, and an NZXT F120 Core RGB. I normally don't do a bunch of RGB stuff and my last PC only had the case fans and one CPU air cooler so I was wondering if I would be able to power these 7 fans (3 case Intake) (3 AIO Exhaust) (1 Rear Case Exhaust) with 2 NZXT RGB & Fan controllers in this build? Software Questions: - I want to have my software media on a usb stick to make it quicker to install before i build it. Right now what I'm planning to pre-install are my motherboard and graphics drivers along with NZXT CAM to control the RGB's. Is there any other system related software I should add like gigabyte control center (though I don't know if that would do anything in this situation) or AMD Adrenaline (my job involves doing repairs and my coworkers had differing opinions on installing this)? - Is there any other software that I should download or BIOS/Windows settings to enable to optimize the build like AMD Crossfire? - Additional Software that I plan to install on the new build Riot Games/Battle.net/Steam/CrystalDisk/Hard Drive Sentinel/Nord VPN/MEGA/Tor/Firefox/NZXT CAM. I am looking for any software that allows me to benchmark, live monitor, and check temps of all my hardware that's low on bloatware if anybody has any recommendations. Also a low intensity Anti-Virus Software that again is low on bloatware. I know that was a lot, but if you are able to leave a response, I'll choose the most helpful one and give away a $10 Amazon gift card for your troubles! Even if you don't win any advice you have would be greatly appreciated.

Budget: Preferably less than 2000 aud Country: Australia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I just want to play modern AAA games at decently high fps and i want to play all the games i bought when i had a cheap windows pc (I have a macbook for school right now) Other details: I already have peripherals and a 165hz 1080p monitor. I'm just here looking for a better/cheaper case or anything else that can be changed to reduce cost or increase performance easily. Heres the list (I'm probably going to keep updating it as more people respond): https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/N6ww7R

Budget (including currency): £1300 if I can have it lower I wouldn't mind that at all Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: new AAA games, I play a few BRs like Apex Legends, Warzone. Light photo editing (not really a concern as I have very basic needs) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): CASE: My friend is offering me their old Phanteks Ethnoo Pro Link to Ethnoo Pro so I can use that instead of buying a new case. However I am opened to suggestions if a new case would be a better option than what I am being given. Monitor: I'll also be buying a monitor second hand from someone I know. It will be 144hz. Peripherals: Not required I'm looking to buy parts now due to the current sales. I'm swaying towards a AMD/AMD build due to both cost and lower power usage. I am open to Nvidia GPUs but it doesn't seem like there is one that offers what the 7800xt is capable of unless you pay a significant amount more for the 4070ti which uses a lot more power. Having thought about it more I think I would prefer to keep to AMD as the 4070 despite being lower power usage, the 7800xt looks like it would have more longevity. Would like to play in 1440p but being honest I am quite happy with 1080p based on experiences at friends and playing on console right now at 1080p. Refresh rate would like to play higher than 60hz so something up to 144hz would be nice. CPU: I've been looking at either AMD 7600 non X or the 7800x3d. From what I understand they both have around the same power usage when running games, idle or other software but the x3d offers a noticeable leap in performance. GPU: The PowerColor Hellhound 7800xt is the card I am considering as from what I have read it runs much cooler than the other GPU suppliers. However I am open to suggestions as I would like to pick a supplier that is reliable. Motherboard: I'm struggling to decide which board to pick as there was quite a lot of issues with mobos specifically with the 7800x3d. Is there a safe mobo to pick? From looking at videos online the problems looked to have been common on ASUS and Gigabyte. I've gone through different threads but i am finding it difficult to filter out anecdotal reviews from individuals having issues themselves or if it is a board issue. RAM: Would Corsair ram be a wise suggestion? There's currently CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MHz CL36 AMD EXPO iCUE Compatible Computer Memory on sale. I had a look a Linus's video on lower CL differences so would it be a wiser choice to go for something that is CL32? and something that is 6400mhz if the mobo can candle that? Storage: Western Digital Black SN770 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive & Western Digital Black SN770 500 GB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive CPU Cooler: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler Am I correct in believing this offers better peformance than the Peerless Assassin and Noctua fans? PSU: Corsair RM850x (2021) 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm not familiar with all the different brands, I would prefer to pick brands that are known to be reliable if that is a thing. If anymore information is required I am more than happy to provide it. Thanks for the time and help.

Budget (including currency): 2500 to 3800 BLR Country: Brazil Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Usually indie games, but sometimes heavily modded ones (like risk of rain 2 with StageAesthetic mod and others) (Rarely kinda heavy dev applications like android studio or online games like cs2). Other details: Hi! First time here! So, I have this lenovo laptop "Ideapad Gaming 3" with a GTX 1650 4gb, an Intel Core i5-10300H and 16gb of ram. I also bought recently a 144hz 1980x1080 monitor (since now I don't really use the "portability" of a laptop anymore) and because of that I kinda wanna to built a PC for the first time! The only problem with my original setup is that I kinda don't like the fact that I can't play any game that aren't an "indie 2d platform" at 144hz full resolution, like moded ror2 or cs2. I kinda don't care for overall graphics quality, but I really care for high frame-rate (not because I am "competitive" or something, just because I feel more pleasing to the eyes when the framerate is always at 144fps and not at 70fps and then 30fps and then 40fps...) and I also care if the PC can last at least 5 years or so without needing to upgrade something. I wanted to know if you all think that I should built a new PC, or if there is no problem if I stay with my setup now and wait a little. It's my first time building so feel free to suggest anything. (No need for a mouse nor a keyboard, I already have both) Some stores here on Brazil: pichau, kabum, terabyteshop You can look at Amazon or Aliexpress too, but take care, because I'll probably not buy it if it's not on Brazil or if it's price is higher than 50 US dollars (because of taxes )

Budget (including currency): 800-1500 USD Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: General gaming, the most intensive game I play I'm pretty sure is, Ark Survival Evolved Other details: So I recently came into position of an older Alienware desktop, which im pretty sure is the Area 51 Phobos build from 2009, the graphics cards were fried so I gutted the pc, however the case is really rather cool and so I wanted to use it for my next build, however my father kept warning me about outdated Motherboard screw patterns and other outdated fittings the PC might have, so I looked around online and couldnt figure anything out about it, as it stands I'd like to use the case if at all practical. Parts: Evea GTX 1070; 750 & 1000w Powersupplies Thank you for any help you can offer :]

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mR2BTY My mom asked me to put together a computer that could host All of our photos and also our movies because we have a huge collection of DVDs and blu-rays. Any help would be appreciated. Also yes I'm a noctua shill.

Budget (including currency): 3,000 NIS (about 807 us dollars) Country: Israel Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mainly for gaming, stuff a 14 years old kid plays, fortnite, roblox, minecraft, etc... Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Building a new pc for my younger brother for his birthday. The plan is to use my old 1070 graphic card that I no longer use, and make a pc that is more upgrade oriented, so if in the future he will need a bit more power he will be able to upgrade efficiently. The build is only the pc, he currently have a monitor (1080p 60hz) and all the peripherals needed. His current pc got an i5-7400 cpu, 16gb ddr4 ram 2133hz, nvidia geforce gtx 660 graphics card. (Not sure whether the cpu or ram should be usable in a new build, would help to know). Would love any suggestions and help, as I'm not that informed in all the different part tiers and what should be good enough and what should be focused on.

Budget (including currency): 35,000-40,000 PHP or 700 USD Country: Philippines Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Spiderman, FPS games in general, Java and python IDEs. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Mouse and keyboard sorted out, planning to buy on the first week of december. Resolution and refresh rate wise, ill take anything that fits within the budget may it be second hand or brand new, since i dont play competitively anymore i dont think 144hz would be my priority since i would love a dual monitor setup.

Hi there! I could use some recommendations on how to go about building a PC from a 1980’s IBM Acrylic Monitor Stand. This stand used to be my grandfather’s when he was an IBM Executive from ‘69 to ‘03. He passed in Jan. Of ‘23, so I want to build essentially “The Last New IBM PC” in his memory but am not sure how to go about it. Its intended purpose is to handle like a mid-tier gaming PC of today’s standards with IBM blue-and-white LEDs. I know most of the hardware will need to be laid flat unlike a modern case, as well as the whole thing will need to be grounded to the power supply individually. I believe air cooling can be pretty well done with fans lining the sides, but I could be wrong. Drilling holes is required no matter which way you look at it. The dimensions are 16 in. X 16 in. so, I'm running gradlew.bat to build baritone 1.20.2 for minecraft and it keeps saying that git isn't installed but it actually is. The main problem is that a "dist" folder isn't being created which is supposed to hold artifacts aka .jar files of the mod baritone. If it's not against the rules here, i am also using which has baritone built-in, but the #mine command doesn't work under Y level 0.
