Budget (including currency): 700 US Dollars Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming and some editing Other details: I have recently been putting together a pc for myself, mostly for gaming and some editing. I was putting this post up to ask for any suggestions on parts I should switch out for others around the same price so that I get the most out of my dollars spent. A couple of notes: I've already ordered the motherboard so... kinda late to change that one. The graphics card listed is just the one I already have, ill be using that one for now until the rest come back in stock and not at ridiculous prices. Thank you so much for your help :). The budget max is 700$. Need help finalizing/improving future build.
ShrektheTh1rd posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
Budget (including currency): $1800 AUD Country: Australia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Light-Medium Gaming, Coding, Video Editing Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I know about the GPU shortage and know that a 1660 Super should not cost $414 AUD. However I do plan to upgrade this build progressively over time in area which will be needed to. I plan to purchase a second monitor, bot run at 240hz at 1440p. I am in dire need of this upgrade, as I am currently running a HP Z400 Workstation with a GTX 660Ti. Are there any tweaks/changes that need to be made? Cheers! -
Important: I will only be purchasing any parts at MSRP and I am not in any rush (I am however ready to buy today). I am just going to be trying my best to get them as I can. Budget (including currency): close to $3000 Canadian Rubles is my maximum. I would be glad to spend less and hard pressed to spend more. Country: Canada Games it will be used for: New titles as they come out. Graphics based exploration and open world games such as No Mans Sky, Subnautica, GTA 6, Cyberpunk, etc. (I also do LOL TFT/ARAM, OSRS, Rocket League, Minecraft, etc.) Current Setup: I typically run a PC for 5+ years before the next upgrade. Currently running a TV and three 1080p monitors on a GTX 960 Gigabyte Windforce (4GB) and i5-4690 (non K). 16GB RAM. My reason for the frequency is that I also have to buy 5-6k hearing aids every 5 years so I stagger them and save for them both over the years. Current Parts List: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/Vnnct8 What I need: I need the desktop and a 27" 1440p 144hz 1ms monitor. I already have a mouse, keyboard, OS, 1TB Sabrent Gen4 drive, Wifi card, and audio/video setup. I plan to run 1440p on the middle main monitor. I have two matching 1080p montors for info and my TV. All four screens will be hooked up at the same time. Why are you upgrading: I am going from a full 1080p setup to a 1440p main monitor with three info screens at 1080p. Some games I play are extremely choppy on my old hardware. Summary: - I have already purchased a Sabrent 1TB gen 4 drive with the heatsink and a 802.11ax pcie wireless card (so wifi is not a requirement for the motherboard). (separate from budget). - 3070 or 3080 (Please suggest a model reliability > performance > aesthetics) - 5600x or greater (Please suggest the best air tower cooler reliability > performance > aesthetics) - 32 GB Ram (Please suggest. I am most lost here and not sure what I should be getting reliability > performance > aesthetics) - Fully Air-cooled - Airflow > Design > aesthetics although I would love to find a case that did all three really well. - RGB does not matter to me however if it exists I would like it to be a clean look and be able to turn it all off if I want. - Gold or better power supply. I want to overdo it and have lots of headroom for upgradeability. - I will wait for stock for a better item vs buying one today. - If you offer up a parts list and you know what MSRP is for your suggested items please enter them as a custom price so I know what MSRP is!

Budget (including currency): 1300$ Canadian Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: ARMA 3, League of Legends, total war, Xcom, Civ, all while running discord. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): My friend only has a laptop, keyboard and mouse. He needs a monitor to go along with the computer, anything with a decent refresh rate and 1080p would be stellar. Current build I have https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/DarkLordMatt/saved/HGDdmG

picking between a 7 2700x or a i310100
funnypmoment posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
tring to pick a cpu for my next build but i don't know what to go for. When i look at the benchmarks for each of them it seems like the the i310100 is what i should go for cuz of the similar price but costs a lot less but idk. if anyone could help me run this down for me like the pros and cons of each or something, the build is mainly for gaming thanks. -
Budget (including currency): 800-850 euro, preferably more towards the 800 Country: Netherlands Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Cities Skylines, Watch Dogs Legion (and the other two Watch Dogs games), Rainbow Six Siege, Sea of Thieves, GTA V, Red Dead Redemption 2, Ark Survival Evolved and Rocket League Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Currently i have a 1080p 60hz monitor, I won't need peripherals although if anyone can give suggestions for a good 1440p 144hz monitor under 200 euro it would be appreciated. I do plan to upgrade to 3 monitors down the line, with probably one 1440p 144hz and two 1080p 60hz. Currently I'm rocking an Intel NUC (i3-7100U with 4GB ram) so i really do need a new pc.

Budget (including currency): around €1000 Country: Netherlands Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: gaming I'm helping my brother upgrade his rig, but am currently not sure which motherboard to go for. What i'm planning on saving from his old build: The case the storage the psu (hoping the 550W will be enough for the new parts) the new parts: CPU: Intel Core i5-10600KF € 235,05 cooler: Noctua NH-U12S €60,- RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO €51 GPU: not sure yet, something around: €600 the gpu i'm gonna figure out based on availability and my brothers possible price range extension, so the problem i'm now mainly facing is determining a motherboard. I've taken about €100 into account for it, but the range of options is stunning. I'm personally inclined to just sort all cards with an lga-1200 socket by cheapest and pick the first one with a PCI-e 4.0 x16 socket, which brings me to the Gigabyte H410M S2 (https://tweakers.net/pricewatch/1560098/gigabyte-h410m-s2/specificaties/) I know however that this is not a great idea due to stability, overclocking potential, extra features and so on... But the motherboards i see a lot on other peoples builds are often in the €180 price range which seems a bit excessive to me. So, i'm asking you all: - What should i definitely look for when picking a motherboard around €100? - Can you recommend me any good ones in this price range? - Is it maybe worth going for a more expensive one considering i then have less to spend on a graphics card? Thanks in advance!

Budget (including currency): ~$1000 (USD) Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Rainbow Siege, ARK, Overwatch, Minecraft, Adobe suite. Hey y'all. I'm looking to build a sub $1000 gaming rig with a small form factor for taking to college. I already have a 1060 so for these games on decent settings at 1080p it will work fine. I also have a decent CPU cooler. I'm thinking this case (I know It's not budget but I really like it.) I would like some RGB on the inside other than fans but if it won't work I'll manage. Are there any suggestions as far a processor, motherboard, power supply, RAM, etc?

Budget (including currency): $500 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: BeamNG.drive, Microsoft Word, Minecraft, Web Browsing, Light 3D Rendering, Light General Gaming Other details: This is just a general help post to see if the parts I put together will be able to do what I ask them to do, with other questions peppered in because I'm a bit of a newbie. Specs: Intel Core i3-9100F AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB 32GB DDR4-2133 450W Power Supply MSI B360M Bazooka All I want to do is run the aforementioned programs (with other lighter games peppered in), and do some productivity. I will be running a 1080p monitor at 60Hz, and will be using a PS/2 Cherry MX8000 with a Logitech USB mouse. 1. Will my slower RAM create any issues for me, given that I am not using a Ryzen CPU? 2. Will the RX 570 4GB suffice for 1080p gaming for at least a few years to come? 3. Is buying second-hand hard drives a bad idea? 4. How do I do RAID0 on my dual 500GB Seagate Barracuda drives? 5. Would an NVME boot SSD give any real world benefit for this setup? 6. Could I get a recommendation for a simple, cheap, well-built 1080p monitor with at least 60Hz refresh rate? 7. Is the built-in 450W power supply that came in my micro/mini ATX Rosewill case trustworthy? Even if not necessarily the most trustworthy, could it power these components on paper? Thank you to anyone and everyone who can help!

Budget (including currency): 10 000 NOK (~1150 USD) Country: Norway Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Current computer for gaming is used for games, streaming and the like / Planned homeserver will be used for watching movies over the cloud, cloud storage and game server hosting. Some games I'm planning to host, preferabely minimum two server at a time if needed: ArmA 3 Minecraft Rust Other than that, I want the system to handle running most of the time. The gaming rig will be running on 1080p 60Hz screens, mostly games similar to Doom Eternal, Hitman 2 and Battlefront 2 in quality. Other details My plan is to: Take older parts from my gaming rig, use those in building up a homeserver for the beforementioned uses and then upgrading the parts that have been moved from the gaming rig. I was originally planning to keep it all in the gaming rig and building the server from scratch but came to the conclusion that I might as well take it all at once when I'm first at it. I have gotten some questions why I'd build a PC to use as a server and not just a corporate level server or the like, but the reason is really that I find computers a lot easier to understand, and after much back and forth I've found it way easier to do it this way at least the first time around. Should I find out later on I want a "proper" server I'll always find a use for the PC server. PC Build I currently have a gaming computer with the following components, I will be putting the upgrade I'm planning to do in parentheses with red text, the rest will stay as is for now. Parts that will be moved to the server will be in blue. I'm not including storage space in the gaming rig as it'll stay, GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 8GB CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X (AMD Ryzen 5 3600) Ram: Unsure of brand, 8x2 GB Sticks (Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2x16 GB 3200 MHz)) MOBO: MSI B450 Gaming Plus (MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk) (is this a good mobo?) PSU: Cooler Master MasterWatt 550W Bronze Case: Phanteks Eclipse P600S Case I have from before. Server Build All parts that aren't blue will be purchased, excluding the case that I have from before. Blue components are taken from the gaming PC. GPU: XFX 590 Fatboy (This is not being purchased, but I had it in "storage") CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2x16 GB 3200 MHz) SSD: Kingston SSDNow 480 GB HDD: Seagate IronWolf 4 TB (1x, to start with) MOBO: MSI B450 Gaming Plus PSU: Corsair RM550X Gold (since the machine will be powered on for most of the time) Case: Fractal Design Define C * In the future I'll be purchasing RAID as a security measure. Conclusion I'm looking for any feedback on these upgrades and builds, does it sound like a decent setup? the motherboard for the rig is the one I've been the most unsure about but I came to the conclusion it might be the most feasible. I have a seperate question, if any can answer it. Is it possible to do a workaround with only a single displayport and wanting to play VR without having to disconnect the monitor all the time to plug the headset in? Thank you for all help! If any more information I've forgotten is necessary I'll add it ASAP.

I'm building a sub 1k PC and have a CPU, GPU and SSD that I know I want, but the motherboard, PSU, RAM and case are a bit more confusing to me. I am going to get a Ryzen 5 3600, GTX 1660 S, and Samsung 860 Evo 1TB. I am making a list on NewEgg but I'm most likely not purchasing everything there. So far for the motherboard, I selected ASRock B450 PRO4 AM4 AMD Promontory B450 SATA 6Gb/s ATX AMD Motherboard, the case I selected is DEEPCOOL MATREXX 50 ADD-RGB 4F Mid-Tower Case 4x120mm ADD-RGB Fans, Full-size Tempered Glass Side And Front Panel, Motherboard SYNC Control and I haven't selected RAM or a PSU. Any suggestions, modifications or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I’m about to build my first gaming computer and I’m rethinking some part choices. I was originally thinking of getting the Zotac 1650 super, but now I’m thinking of getting an RTX card and I heard the MSI RTX 2060 is a good, affordable one, I was just wondering if it is worth the extra money (almost double the price of the 1650 super) for an RTX card. I don’t mind paying more for one it just means I have to save up for longer. Money shouldn’t be a problem as I’ve seen this card in build guides that are around my budget when you take off the peripherals. I’m hoping on getting a Ryzen 3 3300x and a MSI B450m Gaming Plus Max MoBo.

Budget (including currency): About £1000, GBP Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Playing the latest games, machine learning, video editing, basically I need it to handle anything I can throw at it. Other details: I am willing to get a PC that I can upgrade slowly, for example getting 1 X 16gb ram so I can buy another one in the future. I would like an M.2 nvme SSD, and a motherboard with pcie gen 4. I have a case, but with bad overall airflow. I currently have a 1080p monitor and need to upgrade to a 1440p one? I saw a MSI one at 144hz which would be good for the 6800xt?

Budget: More or less around $3000 CAD ($4500 CAD max) Country: Canada, Alberta Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Programs: Blender (3D modelling) Gimp 2 (2D art) Audacity (audio editing) Games: Second life Minecraft VRchat I do plan to use the system for virtual reality, and I like to run Minecraft with shaders, let alone second life‘s demanding properties. I also have many other Indy games that are generally demanding all around. Other details: No existing parts, other than a cheap mouse and keyboard. A VGA/DVI display from 2006. I plan to buy as soon as the latest Nvidia GPUs are more readily available. I’m thinking somewhere around the 100 FPS range for display, as I don’t have the fastest reaction time myself, also looking for a really good colour accuracy, and 4K. RBG lighting not necessary. Being able to turn it all off is necessary though. Oh and of course, looking for parts that I do not need to update for a long time. And avoiding one’s that will stop receiving updates to quickly. Thanks for the read, and any future help! My first time trying to do something like this.

I'm trying to build a PC but I need some help. Can someone please help me improve this build? Is it possible to make this build cheaper without sacrificing performance? I also need help picking out a monitor, preferable one with speakers. Also, should I wait until the new graphic cards are available or should I just buy what's available now? I have a Montech X3 Mesh case, H470M DS3H mobo, and a 650 W Arsegame power supply (pictures included). So I’ve been having a lot of trouble with this pc build. It’s my first build, and I don’t know a lot about tech so please bear with me. After I finished building, all was well (sort of). Checked and saw my CPU was 100c and realized I never installed the fans. So I open it up, try to install the fans, following this tutorial and now my PC won’t turn on at all. I made sure to turn it off and unplug it before doing anything. I unplugged the fans, and it turns on now but now the screen won’t display and some lights lit up on top of the case. Earlier I had to hold down the power button to get it to turn off, but after plugging the hdmi more into my monitor I don’t? I just press the button like normal and it turns off. What’s happening and how do I fix it? PLEASE I don’t have the money to take this to a shop, and I don’t trust any shops around here to actually fix it anyway. I’ve sat up all night and the past 2 days just crying. Sorry for spamming photos, I don’t know what exactly people need to see to help. Also included is a video of what’s happening. Please help me, I’m begging.

Hello LTT forum members! I recently took advantage of the GPU market and upgraded my 1080 to a RTX 3070 for $380 (not bad). However, I am noticing that the main thing holding me back is my CPU, especially the single-core performance. I am currently running a Ryzen 7 1700x (bought in 2018) on an MSI Gaming Pro Carbon. I could use help picking out a motherboard and CPU that would keep me from bottlenecking my GPU. If possible (and cost effective) I would not mind buying a Ryzen CPU that will fit and work with my currently motherboard. Thanks again! Edit: I should not I game at 1080p 240hz and with a second monitor running 120hz (mostly used for music, discord, chrome, etc.) Edit: My motherboard is the X370
