Hi guys, I'd like to start out by saying I know nothing about building PC's and really anything about PC's in general. A couple years back I bought a MSI GP70 2PE Leopard gaming laptop to mostly play World of Tanks on. When I bought it it was a huge upgrade and made it much more fun to play the game at decent settings and frame rate. Now, I can hardly play the game at any decent setting/frame rate combo. I have the I5 processor and 8gb of ram. These are great and have never had an issue with games or running ARC GIS and Photoshop. The nividia 840M is my biggest issue. I looked into upgrading it and from what I have seen that is out of the question which is a shame. I also looked into overclocking for a short term boost, but it sounds like nividia has removed the ability to overclock "M" GPU's. If anyone has any suggestions into milking some more performance from this laptop it would be appreciated. If not, I will attempt to sell it to get some basic 15" notebook to use for notes and browsing YouTube & Netflix so I can invest my time and cash into building a Desktop. Currently I have begun playing with the idea of building a PC (with a friends help since I know literally nothing). My budget would be under $800. I would like to be able to run ram intensive programs like ARC GIS as this desktop will likely double as a workstation when I enter the workforce. I would like to be able to play games at 1080 at decent graphics settings. I do not know if this price range would allow for me to run games like Far Cry 4 at ultra in 1080 or not since I have heard things saying yes and some saying no. Like I said before, I do mostly play World of Tanks and I assume nearly any current $800 desktop could max this games graphics in 1080. What has peaked my interest is the XFX RX 460 card recently reviewed. Would this be something that would be good for this price range of build? Also would it be cheaper to buy two older cards and run them in SLI? I am planning to try and get as many of the parts as possible for this build on Cyber Monday to hopefully save some money as I am a nearly broke college student who needs to pay for textbooks and ramen noodles. This price would need to include a display and keyboard which do not need to be flashy but simply do the job. If any of you have done recent builds of this price range or have compiled build lists recently I would much appreciate it. I just know I need to buy the basics (GPU,CPU, motherboard, HDD, and case) and do not know what I need to buy past that. So any of the smaller bits needed would be helpful also so I do not run into issues with this when I begin to build. Any help would be very much appreciated, Neil

First build... it's for light 1080p video editing for my commentary YouTube channel, and heavy gaming and video viewing. I'll be playing games like Minecraft, Roblox, Far Cry 3, 4, and Primal, Call Of Duty, Overwatch, DOOM, CSGO, and more. http://pcpartpicker.com/user/TyFilms/saved/dQpgsY How will it do? While playing games I'll also be running Fraps to see my FPS, and occasionally OBS.

So, i've been planning a pc build for quite a while now and I've managed to scrap together a decent-ish build. I'll be using this build for gaming, preferably Esports and a couple triple a titles such as CS:GO, Rocket League, The Crew, GTA V etc at medium - high 60fps. I'll also be using it for video editing, nothing too heavy though. I'm on a $400 budget by the way The build also consists of a couple parts and accessories from Craigslist, Ebay etc such as the cpu and gpu (i5 2400 & GTX 660). Thanks! I'm gonna build a PC soon and it's always good to get some critique from PC-Pros AMD FX-8350 (I'm not overclocking) MSI 970 Gaming (I know it might require a BIOS update) GTX 1050 Ti OC 4G (It will run all my games at 1080p Medium settings at least and that's fine with me.) DDR3 RAM 1600Mhz (I know kinda sucks) Be Quiet! Pure Power 10 500W Modular (Plenty) Corsair VH4-S (Cheap but enough) I will be doing some content creation, gaming and basic browsing. I know it's not the best choice for content creation but trust me I've had worse. Let me know your thoughts! Plodno

Hi everyone, I am building my first Gaming PC with a max budget of $700. I want a build that can be upgraded minimally like a memory upgrade, ssd storage upgrade and maybe a GPU upgrade. I mainly use it for school related stuff and minimal gaming (pubg, overwatch, shadow of mordor). Aesthetics is important to me :-D but I would go for budget build if I can't achieve the aesthetics I want My initial draft was as following: Motherboard: MSI B250M Gaming Pro/MSI B250M Mortar Processor: Core i5 7400 Memory: Kingston HyperX 1x8gb Stick 2400Mhz ( i'll upgrade this in the future) Storage: (I have a spare 1 tb HDD) Graphics: Gigabyte GTX 1050Ti Windforce 4GB OC PSU: Corsair VS650 Case: (A generic case that costs $23 dollars) Cost: $668 Then when I got to the city and begin canvassing for the components, I realized all except the GPU and Processor is out of stock and the stores did not know when will the supplier supply them. A particularly known Techshop in our city suggested to me this build instead (based on my budget and with what are available stocks in their store with discount if I let them build the PC and it have aesthetics too): Motherboard: MSI B250M Mortar Arctic Processor: Core i5 7400 Memory: Corsair Vengeance 2666MHz 1x 8gb stick ( i'll upgrade this in the future) Storage: (I have a spare 1 tb HDD) Graphics: MSI GTX 1050Ti 4GB OC PSU: Rave 600W (Don't know if all you are familiar with this brand but it is common in our country: 'Philippines') Case: Tecware Edge V2 Black/White Full Tempered Glass panel side Cost: $643 i like the aesthetics of it because one of their computer have similar motherboard and case. But I pmed the owner of the store today. He suggested me this build with a discount Motherboard: MSI/Gigabyte H110 (He did not specify) Processor: Core i5 7400 Memory: 8gb stick ( i'll upgrade this in the future also he didn't specify it again) Storage: Intel 250gb SSD Graphics: GTX 1050Ti (He didn't specified again) PSU: DeepCool DE500 500 watts Case: Tecware Full Acrylic Case (Don't know what specific Tecware case) Cost: $686 Note: Memory and GPU I think are the ones on the 2nd build draft suggested to me, Corsair and MSI He said the build he suggested is affordable considering my budget and it have an ssd but the aesthetics is sacrificed. Now what I decided is this build: Motherboard: MSI B250M Mortar Arctic Processor: Core i5 7400 Memory: Corsair Vengeance 2666MHz 1x 8gb stick ( i'll upgrade this in the future) Storage: Intel 250gb SSD Graphics: MSI GTX 1050Ti 4GB OC PSU: DeepCool DE500 500 watts Case: Tecware Edge Black/White Full Tempered Glass side panel Cost: note sure but around $670-$700 or maybe more. I'll ask the store. What do you think of my final thoughts of my build? Please feel free to suggest a build or replace a component on my build. I am on a tight budget honestly but If i get the scholarship that i am trying to apply, my budget would increase not extremely but a little bit like $25 to $75. I accept criticism and suggestion. PS. I admit I am a noob. All i know are basics only. Thank you everyone.

So we are planing to buy a new system, for game development and 3d rendering. As indie game developers we are really on a tight budget. We have the following configuration in mind, and want suggestions: 1. Ryzen 5 1600x + B350 Motherboard + CPU cooler (1600x doesn't come with stock cooler) 2. Ryzen 5 1600x + X370 Motherboard + CPU cooler (1600x doesn't come with stock cooler) 3. Ryzen 7 1700 + B350 Motherboard + stock cooler (we are not planing to overclock now. So we can wait, to buy a better cooling system) 4. Ryzen 7 1700 + Budget X370 Motherboard + stock cooler (we are not planing to overclock now. So we can wait, to buy a better cooling system) Which one will give us best value for money. We are from India and PC components cost much more here (Example: a 1000 us Dollars build cost around 1500 Us Dollars unfair )

Hello all. I am fifteen years old and since I can't afford to upgrade from my 360 to a newer-gen console, I am looking to get into console gaming. That said, my budget is minimal. I would like to keep the entire build under $200 if possible. I'd like to be able to play Triple-A titles at a minimum of 45FPS and a hopeful average of 60-solid in 1080p. I don't know if this is realistic because, like I said, I'm new to this and I may end up having to buy parts in spurts to accomplish this because I don't have a job and live in one of the poorest areas in the nation. With that information out of the way, I'll answer the suggested questions in the pinned post now before going on any further. 1. Budget & Location $200 - Eastern Kentucky (isolated & very rural) 2. Aim Being able to play Triple-A titles at 45-60FPS (a smooth playing experience) for games like GTA V, Overwatch, CS:GO, NBA 2k17, etc. 3. Monitors One monitor (possibly HDMI) for now. Dual monitors aren't a necessity, though if a good, cheap motherboard with the capabilities is available within budget constraints, I would be open to the potential. Current resolution 1600x900. 4. Peripherals I do not need peripherals or any Operating Systems 5. Why are you upgrading? Because, as stated above, I would like to be able to play modern games at an enjoyable frame rate and speed (it doesn't need to be optimal/ultra settings; I'm fine with low-to-mid) without having to be limited to a console. I want a build that can meet my budget, my hopes in terms of performance, and hopefully scalability for future upgrading (CPU, Memory, etc.). Also, I am open to a server build, though I would need one that supports a consumer-grade Windows OS. I'm not overly concerned about a case; I have several large towers available from old Dell Optiplex's and I am very open to the potential for an open, caseless build. I would like to thank any-and-everyone that took the time to read this. I greatly appreciate any help in parts selections and I understand that I may be asking quite a daunting task. That said, you could help make this poor kid's spare time much more enjoyable with input and suggestions! Thanks again for the consideration!

I am looking to get into PC gaming and I would like to build my PC. I have a budget of $1000 budget. I want to stick on the green and blue team (Nvidia and Intel) and I was wondering what parts to buy since I am new to this. I will be doing some very light streaming/screen recording and I want to run games well. Maybe ghost recon or cod ww2. I'll only be outputing to one display. I will not be needing wifi or Bluetooth on the motherboard. I will also need an OS. Any suggestions would be helpful.

What would it cost to build your very first budget gaming rig in 2017, this rig will be enough to get you started in the PC gaming community. Tell us the parts list and cost, the system must be able to play most games at 1080p or 900p with decent setting like High or very high not really ultra and how upgradable is the system.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fFNcwV I'm planning this as a light gaming rig (for esports such as Overwatch, League, and Hearthstone) that I can take to LAN parties and transport relatively easily from my home in Virginia to school in Utah. I already have a Windows key from my main build (in my signature), and I've already got a monitor at both locations. I was debating between the 460 and the 1050, but I went with the 460 for the extra 2 gb of VRAM. I haven't been able to find a 560 in the graphics card price point I'm looking at ($120). Additionally, I wasn't sure which CPU to go with, so I could use some advice there. I'd like to keep the CPU under $100 if possible. Aaaand I'm also not sure about the PSU. Basically this entire build is up in the air, and comments and advice are appreciated. Thanks! PS: Yes, I do need wifi.

This is the first time that I'm ever building a PC, and I think I found a great budget PC for used parts (i.e. using a pre-built PC with no video card nor PSU, that whole shebang!) at almost $250 with shipping. I've decided that I'm sticking with this maximum budget. I have quite a few questions: Is the GTX 760 2GB w/ Double Bios a good video card, and will it fit in a Lenovo W91p pre-built tower? Will the combination of this card and a Thermaltake TR2 TR-600 600W ATX12V v2.3 be good enough for this build? Can I overclock it with enough PSU wattage? Benchmarks with this build? Will it run Crysis 3 at 60FPS on High (720p/900p/1080p is fine)? I have ARMA 3 but I don't think it'll be stable enough. Will the 760 bottleneck the i5 2400 (I don't think it will, but I want to make sure)? and was this the best possible budget build that can be found or can I find something better? Thank you all in advance! I greatly appreciate the help.

400 EUR-ish used workstation build. worth it?
RUWO_builder posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
one my fellow students recently asked me for advice for a 450 EUR-ish workstation build. he will use it for CAD, rendering, gaming, game development(unity) and various other things. at first, i was just going to make a decently balanced pc-partpicker list. but then i spent an evening looking for old server parts, and found this fairly decent list of stuff and things. a couple of sites are in Dutch, but i think you can figure out what the parts are: CPU: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Matched-pair-of-Intel-Xeon-X5675-3-06GHz-Six-Core-SLBYL-Processor-w-Grease-/222404003260?epid=109625040&hash=item33c84fc5bc:g:8fEAAOSwtnpXpx3X 2X Xeon X5675 motherboard: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-S5520HC-BB5520HC-S5520HCR-Dual-LGA-1366-EATX-Motherboard-with-i-o-/272528936844?_trksid=p2349526.m4383.l4275.c10 HP workstation board RAM: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-S5520HC-BB5520HC-S5520HCR-Dual-LGA-1366-EATX-Motherboard-with-i-o-/272528936844?_trksid=p2349526.m4383.l4275.c10 local site, 24 gigs of Kingston ECC ddr3 GPU: http://www.ebay.com/itm/PowerColor-RED-DRAGON-RX-470-4GB-/272881258032?hash=item3f88fd8e30:g:u4kAAOSwuLFZ3AEi powercolor RX470 PSU: https://www.2dehands.be/computer-game-consoles/computer-onderdelen/voedingen/antec-vp600p-600-watt-atx-367728167.html local site, ANTEC vp600p, unopened coolers: http://www.ebay.com/itm/CPU-FAN-COOLER-HEAT-SINK-FOR-LGA1366-Square-ILM-1-5U-4Pin-with-Mounting-Plate-/162684570314?hash=item25e0c18aca:g:x0AAAOSwxbpZmxfg stock Intel cooler not really into server gear, so will this work? is it a good value? should i just recommend a new system? is the power supply powerful enough? is the memory the right type? thx in advance, RUWO-

I'm making a budget build and specifically with the CPU I want to get (the new Kaby Lake pentium G4560) I've noticed them going out of stock within a day and then sellers are marking them up to more then the G4600?! Why? It's a pain for someone like me who has a very limited budget and cant spend 30 extra dollars on a 60 dollar CPU. Is the Supply and demand actually that high? Why is this happening all the time?
