Hi. I am new to the PC building community and I am looking for a good $600 USD Gaming build. I'm just looking for the PC itself, and one thing I need is 4 cores, at least. AMD Or Intel, I really don't care I am planning on running one 1080p 60hz IPS display: http://www.amazon.com/AOC-i2367Fh-23-Inch-Frameless-LED-Lit/dp/B009V8F700 I don't really care about noise, I just want raw performance out of this thing. Thanks

Hey guys, I was just wondering, what GPU would go with an i5-4690K, my budget is around $350~, I have a 650 watt PSU and I'm not looking to overclock the card myself. For the motherboard, I would prefer one with 4 ram slots and 2 GPU slots. My motherboard budget is $175. (Prices in Australian Dollars)

While i am building a budget pc, the corsair cx430 is on of the cheaper modular psu's which is what id rather have, i have read some review, and some are good, some not so good. i mean the cx430 has a 4.5 star rating overall on newegg or amazon i beleive, but there were a few reviews saying that the psu "blowing up" or frying or whatever. ex: "Built the computer plugged it in and posted then it rebooted and the asus motherboard bios said it has protected my computer from a power supply surge. Sure enough it turned right back off and the smell of burning electronics filled the air. Stay away from these cheap power supplies. Sent the upc in for the rebate so im sure they wont take it back" << quoted on of the comments ive read and there were a couple more like that, and it was enough to worry me and look around for a different psu, but like i said i am on a budget, and was recommed to this site for forum so i feel that i will be able to trust the input here over anywhere else.

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/p8ggK8 It's going to be used for gaming, (no BF4 and not really demanding games at 1080p) At first I was going for the NZXT source 340 and a fancier RAM but since I can save money I could squeeze a 840 evo 120gb for the OS and a 1tb HDD, how dose it look?

(THIS POST HAS MOVED TO BUILD LOGS, CLICK HERE TO SEE MORE) BACKSTORY My Current Build List - CODENAME: Ratchet - King of the Scrapheap CPU - AMD FX 6100 OC to 4.0GHz (Freebie! Kindly donated by GzeroD) - eBay MOBO - (New!) Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 - ($47 Shipped from eBay) - GPU - AMD R9 280x ($150-ish on eBay) - eBay RAM - DDR3 8GB (Yet to find a good deal, maybe 4GB dimm X2) Case - Bitfenix Neos Red/White ($34 On Sale ends 3/11/15) - NCIXUS CPU Cooler - be quiet! Shadow Rock 2 (39.99 shipped from Newegg) PSU - Thermaltake TR2 500W ($37 Clearance @ Radioshack RIP) DVD Drive - free (from previous repair) HDD - SATA3 2.5mm 320GB drive (free from previous repair) The Motherboard Swap I had originally planned to use a MSI 970A-G46 Motherboard, but a cross between not being able to get a solid line from the seller on craigslist and some unsettling research about this board had me throw it out entirely . Come to find out through sites like TomsHardware.com the MSI board was a terrible overclocker and on more than a few occasions had ruined CPUs and other parts even with steady overclocks and straight-out rejected OC'd 8-core CPUs. Apparently that's why you see so many on the second hand market. To replace my previous board I went to eBay to scavenge, and late last night I found an Asus M5A97 LE R2.0. Bought it. Comes with the standard factory warranty and an additional warranty from the store the seller bought from. (Fully transferable, no worries) The only thing that gets me is the board doesn't have heatsinks leaving me to possibly damage the board with my mild OC. Now I know for about $15 I can buy copper fins to help dissipate the heat and that in some benchmarks I've seen helps for about 10 degrees in some cases. However, this is where the genius of buying an air cooler comes in. With the motherboards rather hot parts being situated toward the back of the board, and conveniently in the path of the airflow coming off my CPU and right in front of my rear case fan, this means I will always have a steady pull of air cooling the motherboard right where it needs it. Motherboard cooling, all thanks to fluid dynamics and decent engineering. So I will probably invest in some mosfet heatsinks in the future, but I want to see what the board can handle before I start chucking money for parts that I may not need. Conclusion With my new parts this build costs an estimated total of $370 (USD) out of my $350~$450 budget. Now I haven't bought a GPU or RAM so this is the last part of the race where I can Min/Max as much as I can to turn that $370 into a $350 or even a $340. So this is where I wait and find the best deal and pounce. I've already created followed searches for the R9 280X and 7970 on eBay and check my craigslist once-a-day. I'm planning on getting some kind of performance RAM most likely second hand. Special thanks to forums user GzeroD for donating his AMD FX 6100 toward this build! Although he says it was just gathering dust in the corner, it means a lot and I greatly appreciate it. This truly is a great group of people here at LinusTechTips. Let's all give him some good karma and keep the vibes flowing. Can you dig it? Tell me what you guys think? Decent? Leave your thoughts in the comment section. This is what my locals have to offer at the time. What do you think? Questions? Comments?

Hello, im helping my friend build a new pc workstation pc but he has a smaller than usual budget. i was able to push him up to around $1500 CAD for a budget. i am already buying him a case and not really charging him for it (because really im buying it for myself and im going to give him the one ive been using for my own use) he does mostly video recording / editing / animation and mid-level gaming ive already decided a few parts but need a good opinion on if they are a wise choice; and also need help on what else should i get or what i should change from what i have so far. so far i have: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z97 MARK1 LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard Intel Core i7-4790K Haswell Quad-Core 4.0GHz LGA 1150 Desktop Processor BX80646I74790K Seasonic 520W Fanless FL2 80 Plus Platinum power supply pyro SE sata 3 240gb ssd (which i am already giving him because it is the one i had in my computer before i got a better one- but this one worked very well for me) im just not exactly sure where to go for budget cpu cooling, or even a better parts that cost the same. any help would be GREATLY appreciated

Please include: *monitor << IMPORTANT *os *optical Drive *keyboard & mouse *mouse pad *must be intel/nvdia (his preference) <<< IMPORTANT somethings he wants: *no overclocking *quiet *fast *Ram is priority (apparently) *air cooling ***wants it to look sexy .... I think he wanted a whole rig the reliable & sexy & cheap wins

Hello Everyone, I was just wondering what your suggestions are for a budget build (not including peripherals). By budget build I mean to say lower than $900. If you want you could go full on power build or do a more well rounded build but it's all up to you. Thank you,

Hello guys, I'm struggling to make a budget build work for 1080p gaming.. and since I only play Hearthstone, Diablo 3, League of Legends, and some weak steam games like Binding of Isaac, Hitman : Blood Money, Hitman : Absolution, Civ 5 etc..I don't think I need too much money for this. I've been looking and looking till I finally settled down on a build. I wanted first to gather money and to make a 1k PC gaming rig but there was no reason to wait for so many months and If I do this build, I'll be quite happy with myself. I'm not quite convinced by my PSU choice since I don't quite know really much about PSU's. There are some things that I have not included and I will explain to you why later. CPU : AMD Athlon x4 860K 3.7ghz GPU : MSI r9 280 PSU : Corsair CX 430 80 + Bronze Motherboard : Asrock FM2A88M RAM : 8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600ghz Case : CM Storm Scout II CPU cooler : CM Hyper Evo 212 Ok, so many of you may have wondered why I didn't include a CPU cooler, an HDD or an SSD. I don't know the budget yet but I'd say 450 MAX. I'm afraid that with the r9 280 it will bottleneck but I'm not sure yet so I need your opinion on this, and that the PSU is not enough, these are my weak points of this build, if my r9 280 will bottleneck or the PSU is just not enough. I thought that the 750Ti is also good and that CX 430 is just enough for it but i thought that giving just 40 pounds more for a r9 280 is worth. I do have an HDD, so I'm just going to use that for now, it's a 500GB hdd, it might sound weird but 500GB for me is even more than I need. I barely even save files on the PC. I do have peripherals, I so an LG 22 inch and have a pair of Razer gear for my keyboard and mouse. Last, I do think I went too overkill with the GPU but in the future, since I'm gonna upgrade, I'm gonna leave the GPU, Case, PSU, RAM, and just upgrade CPU and motherboard, therefore leaving GPU for last and all the other stuff. I'll be playing EXCLUSIVELY 1080p and I don't think I'll go for 1440 or even 4K ANYTIME SOON. So yea..

Reason is that for an ultra tight low budget max 300-350$ ish, is it possible to build a "gaming" <_< rig for 200-300$ range that can run games at a playable framerate(atleast 24+ fps) graphics quality is obviously not going to be an issue just build for playing (altleast barely run)games. Just wanted to know if games can be played on a rig with the lowest possible price build (monitor or other accessories not included just internal components)

Hey guys, I have $700 spare dollars and I want to build me a gaming PC. I already have a hard drive and disk drive from my Previous PC so no need to put that into the cost. I have a $700AUD Budget, I live in Victoria, Australia. In this cost you need to include OS. (Windows 8.1) I already have a case picked out and I don't want any other one, I have seen this case and I love it - http://www.corsair.com/pt-pt/carbide-series-spec-03-orange-led-mid-tower-gaming-case - It cost's $75AUD from where I am getting it. I am trying to make a gaming based system here so please try and make the best bang for the buck stuff and if you need to ask a question, just ask Thank you

Hey, guys. I've been procrastinating for a while now, but I've finally finished my first build. As the title says, I've limited my budget to £600, and I was wondering if the forum wizards could let me know if this is a good build, aha! As you'll be able to see, I've allocated nearly half the budget towards a GTX 970. Is this a good idea? Worth sacrificing on other parts for? I've been hearing poor things of the power supply brand. I was also wondering if the 8320 would be a bottleneck? I'll be using this for gaming primarily, but also school work and general web browsing / media consumption. Thanks in advance!
