  1. So I've had this laptop for about 5 years and the only problem still now that I had with it is that the screen decided to do some weird stuff but it wasn't much of a problem cus I just hooked it up to a monitor. Fast forward to now about a year later the I was playing it in the morning and I left it with only discord up to go watch some shows in the other room and I come back and try to open the technic launcher and the computer freezes. So I shut it down and tried to boot it back up and gave me bsod saying 0xc0000001 then I tried factory resetting it cus I thought it might be a software ting. And still the same thing. If you guys need any more info about the PC just ask. Aslo I don't have another PC and I can't access the auto repair menu.
  2. Ok.. So I'm at hair pulling point.. I know my way around a pc.. am an IT engineer by trade.. but I've an issue that's just got me stumped.. Asus X570 Prime Pro board Ryzen 7 3700x Corsair pro rgb 2x8gb @ 3200mhz MSI Radeon 5700xt mech OC WD 500gb m.2 Seagate barracuda 4tb Corsair 1000w psu So.. did a build, but it took many attempts to get and drivers installed, eventually managed to get through errors.. then lots of bsods anytime I start a game.. I had a vega 64.. thought it could be that.. so ditched that for a 5700xt just coz of the pcie4 support. Anyways.. now it's still doing it.. the workaround is I have to boot up, deinstall drivers from device manager, pull the network cable, reboot in to safe mode, ddu and drivers, reboot, reinstall the amd drivers then, patch the cable back in n it all works beautifully.. but I gotta do this each time I boot up! I've rolled back from adrenaline 2020 but that failed too. So, what do we think??
  3. So there’s this weird thing that’s happening with my PC lately. Whenever I leave my pc in sleep for a long enough time the fans shut off (pics below). When I try to wake it up the fans kick back in and I get a BSOD. I don’t want to call it a problem because it seems like something in settings is allowing my PC to do this. Does anybody know how to change/fix this?
  4. So after 1 month of working perfectly fine, out of nowhere my PC has begun to aggresively blue screen like 2 minutes after I turn it on. Everytime there is a different error message, and I can't even keep the thing on long enough to try and troubleshoot it. At first I thought I was the RAM. All the error messages were pointing towards the RAM. So I went out and bought some new sticks, and lo and behold, it's still blue screening. I've tried resetting the CMOS battery, and when I tried to reinstall windows, it blue screened during the setup. Finally, I decided to go out and buy a new motherboard. Again, blue screened while installing windows. This is ridiculous, and I have no idea what the issue could possibly be. Even the repair shop dude told me it's the RAM. The only other thing I could think of is that my Graphics card is defective but I honestly have no idea at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can post dump files if anyone wants.Specs are as follows:RTX 2070 STRIXRYZEN 5 2600X16GB 3200MHZ HYPERX FURY (TRIED REPLACING WITH 16GB 3000MHZ CORSAIR VENGEANCE LPX)AORUS B450 PRO MOTHERBOARD (TRIED REPLACING WITH MSI PRO SERIES B450-A PRO)GIGABYTE P650B POWER SUPPLY500GB WD NVME
  5. My laptop is keep posting BSOD for a couple days. I read same scenarios from different forum about this kind of crash and most of the solution is the command sfc /scannow from cmd to replace or fix corrupted files from the system. But my laptop can't do anything to fix the problem. BTW I recently add new 8gb RAM and install ThrottleStop (Undervolt 0.80 mV) Event Viewer Log Log Name: System Source: EventLog Date: 19 Oct 2019 3:20:56 am Event ID: 6008 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: Scamber Description: The previous system shutdown at 2:13:39 am on ‎19/‎10/‎2019 was unexpected. 6. Everything started when I was playing Overwatch yesterday afternoon. During a game, the image froze and sound was looping indefinitely. So I restarted my computer, and got a BSOD on startup : IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. After the PC restarted again, i launched the game and after 5 minutes it froze, saying "Overwatch crashed in the graphics driver [...]" Then a few minutes later I got another BSOD : PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. After that I could only use my computer for 5-10 minutes between each restarts before a BSOD appeared, either KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED or IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. I thought there was a problem with my GPU driver so I downloaded the new one from nVidia's website, but halfway through installation my PC crashed again. Now I'm stuck in a BSOD loop, preventing me from getting to the windows login screen. I can enter and modify Bios, but can't boot in safe mode because it also leads to a BSOD. I have tried booting from an install CD and via USB, but I get yet another BSOD after clicking either on the install windows or the repair option. I get this problem with and without my main HDD (where windows 10 is installed) connected. I have tried booting with one ram stick at a time, and ran memtest86 with 0 errors after 4 passes. (Should I let it run for longer?) I also tried booting after disconnecting the GPU, but the PC kept rebooting over and over. I also tried disconnecting all SATA cables from my motherboard and booting from USB, but same problem. My specs : I9-9900k MSI Meg Ace Z390 G. Skill Trident Z Royal 16GB 3200Mhz CL14 Asus Rog Strix 1080ti OC Be Quiet Dark Power 730W PSU Main drive WD Black 1TB Samsung 970 evo plus 1TB m.2 SSD The CPU was OCd to 5.0GHz and cooled with a Corsair H150i Pro The RAM was OCd to 4133MHz CL 16 I have reset the cmos so now every component runs at stock speed. Here is a list of every error I got : PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED SYSTEM_PTE_MISUSE KERNEL_AUTO_BOOST_INVALID_LOCK_RELEASE APC_INDEX_MISMATCH KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE The two first errors are the ones I get consistently, especially the first one after each reboot. Could the Motherboard or CPU be at fault? Thank you for your time.
  7. So I was in Overwatch adjusting some graphics settings and then I get the BSOD. The computer restarts after collecting info on the BSOD and I get a black screen with the monitor saying "no signal", I had to turn off the computer and switch the PSU to 'off' to fix it. I haven't updated anything since the windows update 2 weeks ago, I've only added a second monitor yesterday. 8. Hey guys, so Im really in desperate need of help over here, getting Ryzen 3600 up and running. Quick recap, so you know where I'm at: - Started off on Wednesday with: out of the box 3000 ready B450 board (MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max) - After initial setup of windows: kept getting BSODs and had programs crashing etc. [MSI Live Update apparently did not pull the latest BIOS version. So I tried to manually update the latter, which I could only get running after complete disassembly and using the Flashback option on my board] - I get back into Windows 10, everything updated etc.: but still random BSODs, programs just shutting down, or not opening up at all. - I've used: chkdsk sfc /scannow DISM commands (the one that gets missing data from online, dont remember it right now but I can look up if necessary) sfc then said there were no issues detected anymore atfer reinstalling League of Legends, I got crashes again and sfc reported faulty data yet again - So I have turned to the hardware side of things: another one of my SSDs is now in use [The SSD has been formatted on my laptop and worked as a boot drive flawlessly before - on my older 6600k system] - I get into WIN10 install utility and proceed to select Win 10 pro. - At like 80% of the 2nd install step, i get a popup basically saying Windows couldnt be installed "Error code: 0x8007025d" - I google that, seems to be an issue with RAM. - I swap out my Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2133 Mhz, for a backup ddr4 stick I once bought on sale, thinking another machine was broken. [Ballistix sport Gaming Memory 2400 Mhz] So at this point I have: a new board new cpu backup ram in use changed the SSD All I actually migrated is the PSU and GPU (which wasnt the point of the upgrade in the first place.....) I successfully installed win 10 pro and immediately go to windows update, not installing any programs etc. so I hopefully dont get any software conflicts that bring me back to the sfc and dism debacle. Like the 2nd thing being installed (within Windows Update - some cumulative update, i think 1903) freezes at 73%. The PC doesnt really respond anymore. I was able to move the window of Windows Update around, but i couldnt minimize it, right click on homescreen or taskbar etc. So I shut the PC down, check my BIOS settings. Everything set to auto, Speeds and Voltages seem all alright. Temperatures are ok. There seems to be no wrong setting or failing hardware. (I have AHCI and CSM with legacy support enabled. Selecting UEFI wouldnt let me boot into the Win 10 setup on the USB stick in the first place) Windows boots up successfully and gets back to updating and actually finishes one update. Then it said "requires a restart". So I do that since I wanna do everything step by step and just get this damn machine up and running. Now Im stuck in a Shut down -> POST beep (I knew why to activate that -.-) -> Win attempting to repair -> Blackscreen and repeat. Im really at my limits. I never had to check my BIOS this many times, thinking I did sth wrong. I didnt even spend as much time in BIOS or Windows Setup Process overclocking, let alone initially setting up my 6600k. And back then, that was my first PC. Please tell me what to do now, since my troubleshooting just doesnt cut it apparently. Im running in circles. I thought that after a couple of months everything would be at least stable enough to get it running. Its been like 20 hrs tinkering with this machine and despite the great value Ryzen offers, Im about to ditch this whole accumulation of worries and problems and get a fkn mac mini for christs sake. I just wanted more performance for making music (SMT). I was so excited. Deciding between 3600 and 3700x took me months. But by the time I get this load of *** running, I could probably already have recorded a whole album on my laptop about how horrifying ryzen 3000 was to me - at least so far. This is the first time Im just really tilted and out of solution - attempts PC wise, so I apologize for my salty attitude here I hope you guys understand. Y'all are my last resort before i return this machine tomorrow, cuz these 300 bucks definitely didnt make me wanna throw 500 tantrums a day. Greetings, Chris!
  9. Greetings, While watching a simple video on fb I got the BSOD Critical Structure Corruption. A similar thing happened when I open a game and mostly happens then for example if I open AC origins the game plays fine sometimes it crashes when I open LoL it happens all the time, after automatic restart it plays ok. After viewing it in Event Viewer it showed that during the time of the BSOD Rtlihvs.dll was at Critical error, which indicated at my TP-Link wireless USB that I use for my laptop. Some older thread showed it helped if I downgraded the driver. The thing is when I try to uninstall the device ( no option for Roll Back is available ) after trying to install it manually it just installs by itself with the latest driver. I disconnected the wifi and tried it that way also nothing it keeps putting the latest driver. Since I just did a clean install for W10 ( previously had a BSOD with Video Shredding, which only resolved after reinstalling the OS ), I have not did all the updates, so I updated all the drivers, but the issue persists, it's really bothersome I can't play any games and PC crashes almost every time, especially in LoL while more video demanding games have no problem running ( offline games like AC ) and crash less. P.S I use also the second monitor which just had an issue where after Rtilhvs.dll BSOD crash it just froze while pc was running ok and all I could do was closing LoL from task manager and reopen it again. It's a Dell Inspiron 7000 series i5 GTX 1050 1tb SHDD 250 M.2 ( which after installation I did a clean install again and after that w10 install I had the video shredding and did another one format. ) More exact regarding the issue: I have the dump file, I use the USB Wireless tp link tl-wn8200nd to be exact, I have disabled the inbuilt WiFi and use that one since the distance to the router is quite far and the inbuilt does not have a good connection. I wanted to clarify some things that I tried and how this error occurred. Firstly all started when I bought the Samsung m.2 SSD 970 EVO, for which my laptop had a slot so I just opened and put it there ( there was something like a transparent sticker also in that slot which I thought needed to be removed but after trying to remove it and it seemed to have some resistance I left it and put the SSD on top of it which plugged in fine ), after that in the W10 installation screen there was no show of the 970, so I searched for the issue for which the solution was some option I needed to check or uncheck in BIOS I don't quite remember atm. The installation went ok I managed to install the OS ( i had some problem with explorer.exe before installing the SSD also it just did not open and every boot I had to open it with Task Manager after reformatting it was ok ), then after some time, not right away maybe a month 2-3 weeks of usage I encountered Video_shredding BSOD, to which I thought the problem was the Video Card, so I did some reinstallation of drivers and device after that, but the problem persisted so I did format once again, now I have encountered that Critical_structure BSOD and not the event viewer showed the rtlihvs.dll . I have tried so far using a different tp-link ( same model though which I have on a desktop ) and so on. The issue is still there and occurs only when I open a video game ( mostly in league of legends it happens the moment I log into the game, not the login screen or loading screen ), it does not happen as often in single-player offline games, but still has happened a couple of times. 10. Hey guys! Recently (this past week) I began getting a BSOD for Machine Check Exception, and I was wondering if you all could help me. I built this pc in early August of this year. It has 64 Bit Windows 10 Home OS Build 18362.418 The MCE BSOD has only been happening when I haven't been using my pc for a while (30 min+) and it only began happening very recently. I tried updating drivers and nothing has changed. I don't know what else I can try but I did get dump files and here they are: Link to OneDrive Folder The build: CPU - i7-9700k (has not been OCd) MOBO - MSI MPG Z390 GAMING EDGE AC ATX RAM - 2x8gb of Corsair LPX 3000Mhz STORAGE - Samsung 970 Evo boot drive GPU - Asus STRIX Gaming OC 2070 PSU - Seasonic Focus Plus 750W Thank you all for your help!
  11. So basically I just put together my new PC and installed windows 10 and went to install my AMD graphics drivers for my R5 3400g and when it installed I got a BSoD and everytime it restarted it would continue to get a BSoD. I tried reinstalling the drivers I tried a fresh Windows install and it's not working. I'm using Ryzen 5 3400g MSI B450 Mortar Max G.Skill Vengeance 16GB 3200mhz No GPU Thermaltake Smart BX1 650W power supply Help Update: Now a few days after the issue started I found a fix that worked for me. i went in and re-installed windows and then install the driver and sodftware of the disc that came with my motherboard. This seemed to solve my issues. Hope this helps someone.
  12. Hi everyone.I recently built this pc ehuch was working just fine for about 3 weeks untill I got a BSOD while gaming. I thought it would be a one-off as happened with my older pc so I didn't bother to check. But then a couple days later I got another BSOD, this one never restarted my pc as it was always stuck on 0%, so I had to manually restart with the restart button on my case, only to get another BSOD. I did everything I could from trying to repair windows with the advanced options menu you get after a BSOD, to getting into the BIOS and setting everything back to default properties (all I did in there was setting the ram from 2133 to 3200 mhz with the Auto option enabled on the voltage. Which worked perfectly fine for 3 weeks. No CPU or GPU overclocking. The RAM is rated at 3200 mhz btw.)So after none of the above options worked, I simply opted to do a fresh reinstall of Windows, which I did from a USB drive with Win 8.1 and then download the Win 10 media creation tool (as I did when I built the PC) only this time I get a BSOD immediately after getting to 100% on the Win 10 installation process, taking me back to 8.1 which seems to be working just fine. All I did during these ~3 weeks on my pc was play some games, do some drawings on Krita, used After Effects once, and then some web browsing youtubing, and Spotify and that was it.The games were not even demanding (warframe, destiny 2, etc) for an RTX 2070 + Ryzen 2700X.I really need some help here, I'm not particularly tech savvy, Just know a few things here and there just like every other gamer. Thanks in advance. My Rig:Mobo: Aorus B450 Pro WifiCpu: Ryzen 7 2700XGpu: MSI Armor RTX 2070RAM: Corsair Vengeance Led 32Gb (4x8gb), 3200 MhzSsd: Kingston Digital 240GbPsu: EVGA 600BRAs I mentioned before, no overclocks on anything, just changed the RAM from 2133mhz to 3200mhz with the Auto Voltage option enabled.
  13. Hey guys I need help installing the drivers for my rx 480 basically whenever i try to download a driver whether from the internet downloader or from checking for updates from the device manager it goes to BSOD. Help?
  14. So I decided to upgrade to a ryzen 3600 and a x570 mobo from a Skylake 6700 and a asus tuf gaming mobo. But I keep getting memory management bsod, sometimes it's another kernal based bsod like once in every 10 bsod. I've tested all the old parts and they had no issues in other PCs. In this PC I've tried different ram, psu, harddrives, etc. I had amazon replace the CPU and I've tried 3 different mobos. First was an Asrock Phantom gaming 4, then a msi x570-a pro, and now I've just tested it with a asus TUF Gaming x570-plus(Wi-Fi). I updated the bios to the latest version in all of these when the issue was still apparent. I've tried reinstalling windows, though it bluescreens during the install quite often as well. It even blue screened in safemode even... >_> I've done Windows Memory and disk check with no errors. I'm to the point I'm almost out of hair from pulling it all out. haha. Any help would be great though seriously. Google has run out of things for me to look into. Only thing I can think of is I got two bad CPUs in a row, the Msi board had the opportunity to test both CPUs and had the issue with both. Something I noticed was a fresh install of windows would be fine for about 10-15 minutes, and then it'd just snowball to the point where I'd be in windows for 1-3 minutes before it would BSOD In case it matters temps never went above 50c, typically were between 26c-40c according to hardware monitor. got one of them fancy AIO liquid coolers with a 240x120 rad. though I did try with the stock heatsink just in case. requested infomation based on pinned post. 15. I have a recurring problem where I will get a seemingly random BSOD that says "tcpip.sys CORRUPTED FILE". It's happened while gaming, during web browsing, or just over night and I wake up to a BSOD. I was able to "fix" it for a few weeks with an OS repair using a Windows Installation USB. System file scanner shows no file integrity issues. I can also immediately reboot with no issues and use the PC normally for a day or two. Nightly shutdowns seem to extend time between BSODs. I read that some programs can have incompatibilities and uninstalled Geforce experience after the most recent BSOD as it was listed as one that could cause issues. 16. For those having constant BSODs using an AsRock motherboard with Crucial Ballistix RAM, I have found a fix that not many people have suggested, and I want to make it more known. If I had known to do this earlier, it would have saved me from a week of troubleshooting and trying to fix blue screens. My build uses an AsRock B450 Steel Legend and Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer RGB 3200 MHz RAM, but this fix may also apply to other AsRock motherboards and Crucial RAM. Here is a list of the blue screens I was getting (if they do not match what you are getting then this fix probably won't work): memory_management system_service_exception irql_not_less_or_equal pfn_list_corrupt Here are the steps I took to fix this issue: Run the Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool. I just did a single pass basic test. If you get an error, you probably have the same problem as me. If not, it's probably because of something else. (Optional) Replace your RAM. It may be because of faulty RAM. However, this may not be the issue, and isn't what fixed the problem for me. I actually did replace my RAM, and was still getting errors when running the Diagnostic Tool. Go into motherboard BIOS and make sure your motherboard is running the RAM at a high enough voltage. My motherboard was only supplying 1.2 V, and my RAM needed 1.35 V. Run the Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool again. If you got an error before, but don't get one now, the problem should be fixed. After doing steps four and five, I haven't had any blue screens for over two weeks. If those steps didn't fix the blue screens, and you are still getting errors when running the Memory Diagnostic Tool, you probably just have faulty RAM and should get it replaced. Hopefully this helped fix the issue for you as well though.
  17. I built a new PC this year in July during the Ryzen 3000 Launch. I got a 3900x Ryzen CPU, a ASUS Hero Crosshair VIII (WI-FI) motherboard, Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 32GB (4x8GB) RAM, 1070 GPU & a ASUS THOR PSU 850W. I have no overclocks. I started getting BSODs after the first week I got the PC regarding memory corruption, so I went back to Microcenter and they swapped my RAM. Thought my issue was over. Got more BSODs after about a month in. I downloaded Memtest 86+ and ran it stick by stick, showing me I had 1 bad stick. So I was going to RMA it. I kept 3 sticks in, PC kept BSOD still. So I ran the Memtest again on each stick, in different slots. Found that my slot 3 was causing sticks to fail repeatedly. Got a 3800x for testing that its not CPU mem controller. Still shows failing sticks. Won't post at all with Dual Channel with stick in slot 1 and 3. Got a new motherboard (ASUS HERO CROSSHAIR VIII non-wifi), put in my 3900x. Slot 3 still failing on the same set of RAM. Try different stick. Still failing on slot 3. Sometimes won't post. Put in the 3800x as well, same results. So what gives? 2 motherboards, 2 CPUS and we're still at a failing state. For some reason, slot 3 is the only one failing. So what is my problem here? Only thing I haven't tried yet is getting ANOTHER set of sticks. I even borrrowed my friends 3900x to test a 3rd CPU and I still have the same set of issues. Id say memtest is lying to me about the results, but my system is definitely not stable. Can it be my power supply somehow, or do I have a different problem here? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. BIOS is updated on the current (non-wifi) motherboard & the wifi motherboard. I'm running on 1201 BIOS. Chipset has been updated. Temps are good on the system, not overheating.
  18. Hey everybody! Problem I got multiple problem with my computer giving me multiple different BSOD at random time. Most of the time, it was happening while I was using demanding software (Illustrator, Rhino3D, Photoshop, etc.) but sometime just when listening to Netflix. The BSOD are Memory Management, System Service Exceptions and more.. I was not always at first, so I just let it go like this for a while. I was travelling for multiples months and when I got back, the problems happen more and more, and even when no software are open. Because of the Memory Management problem, I first suspected memory problem. I ran Windows Diagnostic tool a few time without any error. Found out that it was not the best tool, so end up using Memtest86 to test (Running 4 passes) TEST 1: RAM1 in DIMMA2 + RAM2 in DIMMB2 FAILED TEST 2: RAM1 in DIMMA2 PASSED TEST 3: RAM1 in DIMMB2 PASSED TEST 4: RAM2 in DIMMA2 PASSED TEST 5: RAM2 in DIMMB2 PASSED TEST 6: RAM1 in DIMMB2 + RAM2 in DIMMA2 FAILED Now I am really confused. When my 2 RAM module are installed, it is not working, but individually they are fine. Could the motherboard be the problem? Spec: Motherboard: ROG STRIX X370-F GAMING | BIOS: Version 5220 MEMORY: Trident Z RGB F4-3200C16D-16GTZR (2x8gb) CPU: Ryzen 7 1700x GPU: GeForce GTX 1070 TI Titanium 8G OS: Windows 10 Pro x64 If you need any other information, I'll provide what needed. If you have any hint on what test I should run or tips to diagnostic the problem, let me know! Thank you very much!
  19. Anybody knows how to solve this BSOD with stop code 0xa0000006? I'm using the MSI Alpha 15 A3ddk with the AMD Ryzen 7 3650H + Radeon RX5500M and this bsod keeps popping up for no reason everytime I'm trying to finish my work. Please help me with some solutions to this problem, sjnce I don't really know much about computers especially windows.
  20. Hi, I decided to upgrade my pc with a new cpu, motherboard and ram and move it to a new, nicer case. Unfortunately the motherboard got bricked after a failed bios update so i got it replaced and there were no problems updating the bios on the replacement board. I installed a fresh copy of windows after installing the new parts and started installing all of the software (steam, discod etc) before i was even done installing the software the computer BSOD already with whea_uncorrectabe_error. I downloaded all of the windows updates and updated all of my drivers but the computer kept crashing with the same error code. I thought that maybe the cpu or the ram were faulty so i got them replaced (the store i bought them from offers same day replacement if a part is faulty) even after replacing the parts and reinstalling windows again, the bsod kept happening. Sometimes it could run for 30 hours with me gaming, watching movies or stress testing the pc without a crash and then right after that it could randomly crash few times in a row within minutes of each other. The computer runs perfectly fine booted into safe mode with networking so i think i can rule out any hardware problems. I ran sfc /scannow and checked the disks - no errors whatsoever. I've been closely monitoring the temps as well and idle it never goes above 30C and under load it never goes higher than around 80C or so. I also tried just running it with a fresh windows install without anything installed on it to see if maybe it's some software but it would crash even in a fresh install. Please someoe, help me, I have absolutely no idea what could be wrong with the computer and i've been trying to fix it for over a week now and i really need to get it fixed asap as i need it for work. 21. Last night I was playing CS: GO and was not able to connect to a server so I rebooted my pc and then I tried to join that server and I am able to join it. Then after playing I shutdown my windows. Now in the morning I turned on my pc I saw a BSOD telling me that the system got an error and needs to reboot and it rebooted then I analized the memory dump file and the mini dump file and I am not able to know what caused that error. It happened twice so far after installing windows 10. I freshly installed it on 20th Jan 2020. Here is the memory.dmp and mini dmp (I have pasted it in pastebin) It would be great if someone can tell me what is the actual cause of the problem. Thank you.
  22. Ok here is the specs: Zen+, Asus Arez Vega 56, MSI B450 mobo, trident z rgb ram, and 2 NVME drives 1 with windows 10 pro and the other with Linux mint. So everything seems to be working except that I blue screen on boot up 9/10 times. It restarts after the bsod and then it works fine. Same error every time. I’ll post a screen shot as well. Stop Code: SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED What Failed: stornvme.sys So far my troubleshooting via google has led me down 2 lines of inquiry. 1. MSI RGB Software and Asus RGB software incompatibility. (I think this is most likely the issue) Evidence: -The appearance of the bsod coincided with the timing of me downloading the asus rgb software. -Super funky lighting behavior on boot up(the MSI controlled lights seem to change to a previous lighting profile and go back to rainbow barf) -the trident ram kits rgb control switched from being controlled with MSI to the Asus software but not after the first reboot after installing the asus software. 2. Vega driver issues Evidence: -Radeon software reports a resolution output error after the bsod -my overclocking profile gets reset after the bsod So I haven’t done much to try and fix the issue besides changing the adrenaline drivers back a version which did nothing. My understanding coming into this build was that the biggest issue with having incompatible rgb devices would be having to have 2 softwares. so it would be impossible to sync effects, but no one said anything about 2 softwares causing system breaking errors and bsods. Is that something that I should have expected? Im gunna try and isolate the issue by uninstalling the asus software. But even if that works it doesn’t solve my issue. Anyway I come out of this without any rainbow barf or bsods? I’ll post the bsod dump later if I can figure it out.
  23. Hello, to begin here’s my build: Ryzen 7 2700x Aorus b450 pro WiFi 32gb Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 3600mhz MSi gtx 1660ti NZXT Kraken x52 256gb ssd, 500gb NVME, 2tb 7200rpm HDD Corsair 650w PSU Preface: before this RAM kit, I had a 16gb kit of 3000mhz TridentZ as well and was experiencing the exact same problems I am now, just slightly less often and have done a full system wipe in December of 2019. anyways, my pc has been acting very odd and has been crashing games, apps have been freezing, and I’ve been getting numerous BSOD errors. I also ran a memory diagnostic on each individual DIMM of both kits and every single test came back with no errors. Everything shows up perfectly normal and correct in bios, Task manager, Ryzen master, and even HWiNFO (downloaded it specifically to try and fix my problem) The issue began when I first installed the TridentZ kit a while back, so I bought the Vengeance kit recently, because my errors all pointed to RAM being a problem. Vengeance only made it worse. It feels like the more RAM I have (or the faster the speed), the more frequent my BSODs are. They happen within 10 minutes of booting up from any state (off, sleep, etc.) the BSOD messages I usually get are: System_thread_exception Irql_not_less_or_equal driver_irql_not_less_or_equal Kernel_security_check_failure My example of games freezing would be Rocket League for the most part, but CSGO has shown similar problems and the new Call of Duty crashes within a minute every single time I open it. (COD seems to be a widespread DX11 issue though). Anyways, Rocket League will randomly freeze, and to get it to unfreeze I have to Ctrl+Alt+Del then press cancel and it will catch back up with itself. Very rarely I will get a “ran out of video memory” which should NOT happen with a game like rocket league that is less taxing in terms of hardware. 6gb gddr5 is more than plenty for most games in 1080p. Also all drivers are up to date. All temps are well below safe operating and tjmax. Cpu rarely reaches 60C GPU rarely breaks 70C. please if anyone has an idea of what’s causing my BSOD and weird performance let me know. I have a lot of money into this PC obviously and as it sits, it’s purely frustration being caused, not enjoyment like it should be edit (new message): System_service_exception What failed: dxgmms2.sys edit2: thank you everyone for your help, it seems my boot ssd had some space in it that was going bad, which explains why even with a relatively fresh install I was getting corrupted files shown by system scans. Trashed the ssd and my boot is on my NVME with a completely fresh install and my baby has been running better than ever
  24. To keep things short, here is a bit of backstory, what i did and what the problem is currently: Couple months ago, i installed Linux alongside Windows 10. OS that i chose was Elementary OS 5.1 (Based on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS... i think) While installing it, when it asked me if i wanted to keep my old OS (Win 10), i just allocated 100GB to Linux and let it do all the partition management and dual-boot GRUB stuff. Everything was working fine, but after ~1-2 weeks, i couldn't boot back in to Windows, each time i would see the Windows logo for a couple of sec and then it would throw a BSOD which would say "Memory Management"... and nothing else... it couldn't even boot in to its own Automatic Repair thingy... While searching around, I couldn't find anything helpful, everything included me booting in to windows, either normally of in Safe Mode... which i couldn't do... Other stuff included checking the RAM sticks, resenting them, testing one by one but that didn't help... I'm more of a software guy than hardware, but i don't think that its something with the physical RAM sticks being damaged or something like that... Linux is still working fine... I thought it might be a corrupt Windows install or maybe GRUB had a wrong config for booting Windows, so i tried to re-install Windows or boot in to the USB and check what is going on Even booting from a USB in to the Windows Installed would crash it, same BSOD. In short, here is what i tried so far: - Tried booting from a USB (To reinstall Windows, got the same BSOD) - Tried resenting and changing RAM ... and a short summary: - I can't boot in to Windows, at all, no matter from where i boot from, same error... - Linux is working fine - RAM is fine... (i'm guessing, i hope) I have full access to the disk from Linux so i would have no problem recovering files, managing partitions etc. but i would still like to know if there is a way to recover the current install.
  25. So my friend had some over heating issues with his PC and told me if I fixed it I could buy it. I swapped the stock cooler on it for a hyper 212 eco. The crashes stopped and it was working good. I decided to plug my HDD in that has my games on it to test it. Once again, working good! But then it started to blue screen. I thought that maybe windows corrupted from countless shutdowns of him not knowing it was over heating in the first place. I reinstalled windows and once again it was up and running! I plugged my drive back in and was able to play games again. After about 2 days it started to blue screen again! I get error like “SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED.” I’m nervous it’s hardware issues and I don’t want to buy it if that’s the case. Any help is greatly appreciate! I also want to point out that before my issues started I defragmented the boot drive that is an old seagate barracuda from 2013. It was 18% fragmented and required 36 passes to fix it. After I reinstalled windows I checked again and it was already fragmented 2% again. So is it possible a failing drive? I’m also getting this PC cheap, $200 cheap. If I buy it I plan on buying a new power supply for it as the current one sounds like a turbo jet. I plan to build a new PC in the summer but my current PC is out for the count. If I wasn’t building a new one soon I wouldn’t worry about the psu, but since I can use it in my new to come build it seems like a no brainer. The specs are: CPU- AMD FX-8350 GPU- ASUS STRIX GTX 970 Motherboard- ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 PSU- Cooler Master RS-600-PCAR-E3 600W
