  1. Specs: 3060 ti Founders Edition (for now; from pre-built) i7 14700KF ASUS Rog Strix z790-F Wireless mobo 32 gb corsair vengenance 5200 ddr5 RAM (currently one RAM stick is in whilst troubleshooting) 2TB MX500 Crucial SATA SSD (from pre-built) Corsair 850x PSU (from pre-built) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi guys (also posting here from Reddit as an completely stuck on what to do ) Over the past few days I have put together my first PC using some old parts from my pre-built build and others which are new. However, I've been experiencing issues. To start, my PC will POST when only one RAM stick is in. Both sticks work when they are in individually (one at a time) and in any mobo slot. Secondly, if I have one RAM stick in and boot my usb with the windows install, my PC will POST as normal with the ASUS logo appearing to go into BIOS. However, as the windows install comes up, I then get a blue blank screen and my PC turns off automatically about twenty seconds later. Sometimes, I have received three different error messages. The first two messages I have received is when I briefly see the windows install but get BSOD stating "PAGE\_FAULT IN NON\_PAGED AREA" and "Kmode exception not handled". The final message type I have received is a black screen with a "Windows boot manager" heading stating that the "digital signature for this file couldn't be verified. Status: 0xc0000428". Would anyone happen to know what issue I may be facing? At this point, I'm not entirely sure what the root cause to all these issues are; my gut says it's either a CPU (memory controller/cooler is too tight) or mobo issue. Would greatly appreciate any assistance, and apologies for the long post. Starting to go insane not knowing what could be causing this
  2. I got a blue screen the other day while I was watching YouTube and booting up modded Minecraft. My PC suddenly went non-responsive and then blue-screened with stopcode registry error. I tried turning it off and back on then it started cycling on and off. It eventually tried to diagnose and repair itself but was unable to do which brought me to troubleshooting. I tried start-up repair and had the same result. I tried using the command prompt and trying the likes of "chkdsk /f /r" but all the files seem to be NTFS and write-protected. I then tried resetting but it was unable to do that also so now I turn to the forum because I'm clueless at this point. I have not been able to access my dump files, I have installed Ubuntu and managed to find Windows/Minidump which seems to be empty so if anyone can tell me where to find the dumps using ubuntu that would be awesome. My PC; OS - Windows 10 x64 (Ubuntu on USB to recover dumbs/files) Windows was bought and installed not pre-installed. Built - December 2021 (all hardware bought new bar second hand GPU) CPU - Ryzen 7 3700X GPU - Nvidia GTX745 (Pulled from my previous Alienware desktop from 2012ish) Motherboard - Asus ROG Strix B550-F Gaming (wifi) Power Supply - Asus ROG Strix 550W Gold. RAM - Corsair Vengeance 2x8GB 3200 Storage - Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1 TB M.2
  3. Hey everyone, I’m back with an old issue described here that has continued throughout several hardware changes and an entire system reinstall. This issue just keeps getting stranger and stranger the longer it persists. From everything I’ve tried so far, it somehow remains, going against absolutely everything my debugging technology’s intuition tells me. If you keep reading, you’ll see what I mean. Checking DM dates, this issue is probably somehow linked to Windows 11, despite going through an entire system wipe. The Issue In summary, my computer will blue screen a few times when booting up for the first time in a real-life number of hours. It doesn’t happen if I just shut down my PC and turn it back on, it needs to have been shut down for a while. Turning on/off DOCP, Resizable Bar, all of those BIOS settings I’ve ever touched, nothing. The issue still comes and goes in waves of what seems like months or weeks. The blue screen code also changes and will very usually change between blue screens over the course of one boot, I’ve documented a few of the ones I’ve been getting recently: MEMORY_MANAGEMENT PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFER BAD_POOL_CALLER Those first 4 are the most common by far. Now, let me go through all the notable changes this problem has persisted throughout: What’s Changed As detailed in a different post, I had to reinstall windows due to this blue-screen-during-boot issue. I am using the same Samsung 860 Evo as I did previously, but I was forced to format it and reinstall windows onto it again. From what I recall, all the relevant drive health checkers shows zero signs of issues, and I’ve only been using it for about 3-4 years now. Hardware-wise, here’s some of the things that changed. New motherboard, with a different chipset. ProArt B550 (wanted the thunderbolt ports, new chipset and PCIe Gen 4 support was also nice). I was also hoping this might’ve been the issue, as the process I had to go through in BIOS settings to prepare my old motherboard for Windows 11 was really janky, and the upgrade to windows 11 seemed to mark the beginning of this bizarre issue. This motherboard was shipped “Windows 11 ready” and I really haven’t messed with any settings at all. RAM is now all Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16GB sticks, 4 of them, exactly matched. Replaced the mismatched set I had before just a couple days ago. I had 2x Corsair LPX 8GB sticks before, and now they’re all exactly the same. I was really hoping this was the issue, and evidently it isn’t. However, something interesting did happen. For the first time I think ever, my computer made it all the way to the log-in screen this morning before blue screening. The second time it happened it didn’t, and then it just booted to that “Windows didn’t start correctly” blue screen the third time, where I usually just sit and wait for a couple minutes and then try restarting again. Note that my total ram size just went from 48gb -> 64gb, so I wonder if this is at all relevant somehow. I also did turn on DOCP though, so maybe the RAM speed was just bottlenecking the boot speed and getting a matching pair meant my ram was faster than it had ever been before (actually shocked how much of a difference it makes). The 2 blue screen codes I got this morning were the first 2 I listed earlier, in that order. New case + fans as well, but I don’t think this matters very much. So I’m really at a loss for what’s going on right now. Unfortunately, “memory” is fairly ambiguous, because virtually every component in a computer has some sort of memory (like cpu cache, vram, ram, etc) and “memory issue” also doesn’t necessarily mean the component where it failed is the source. Beyond those changes, everything I wrote under “specs” in my original post is still accurate. The Possibilities Guys, I’m really at a loss as to what’s happening here. The way I see it, there are only a few potential causes left: Something I’ve been installing on my PC is randomly messing up the boot process, and somehow relates to memory. According to DMs I dug up, my computer bluescreened for the first time after system wiping on the 8th of August. My computer broke on the 18th of July, and I finally reinstalled Windows on the 24th of July. The gap isn’t very big, and that seems very normal for the amount of time this issue would just randomly disappear for. I don’t think this is the issue. My CPU is damaged, but this wouldn’t make much sense. I got it all the way back quarter through 2021, and the oldest mention of this issue I could find was a message “Windows 11 made the blue screen of death bluer” from the 14th of February this year (and it seems to me this was a startup issue as it was the first message I had sent that morning at 9am). Funnily enough, this was 2 days after I updated to Windows 11. I’m also pretty sure my computer has not been moving around, which means little opportunity for physical damage. My GPU is damaged, which is still hard to believe. I got my GPU about halfway through 2022, and as mentioned earlier, that’s still a ways off from when I updated to Windows 11. Ethernet??? That’s something that hasn’t changed I/O wise, I’ve also always had this G915 and MX Master 3 plugged in I suppose? I’m really grasping at straws here. Is the GeForce Experience automatic tuning problematic? I’ve left that on since I discovered it at some point ages ago, since I don’t do any overclocking manually. I don’t see what clock speeds would have to do with RAM though. What is for sure is that this whole fiasco has forced me to invest in backup solutions. Weekly windows-7-style full C drive backups to an external hard drive with 2 8GB HDDs running in RAID0 now, with file history and a bunch of other safety precautions. I can’t have this happen again in a way that fully corrupts the data beyond recovery. Thanks for reading all of this, and please, any ideas or help is appreciated.
  4. Hya! Last year I upgraded my setup, by building a new pc with parts, and since then I had all sorts of non-stop problems (system freezes, total system crash, bsods, application crashes) with this system. After I've tried numerous fixes and changes, gpu driver versions, windows installations, cmd commands, stress tests for cpu gpu or ram, bios settings, even a different Motherboard, i've concluded that my RX 6700 (non-XT) that I had at the time was the culprit (I have loads of details about this "saga" as well), thus I've RMA'd it to the shop I bought it from and got another GPU, a RX 6750 XT, and after that the system was much more stable and the problems seemed to have gone away. Until now. Last week I found the same RAM I had, at a good price, so I went ahead and bought another kit, since I wanted to get more RAM down the line anyway (I only had one 2x8GB kit in my PC until this point). RAM gets to me, I install it next to my current sticks, and theeen... disasters. On the first day I've installed the RAM I kept getting Windows Crashes and System freezes on a 2 hour cooldown. "Well shit, i guess i have bad RAM, time to RMA". So I started testing the RAM with memtest86 (since I already had the stick ready, from the "bad gpu" troubleshooting era before this), and sure enough, with all sticks installed, after letting it run for the whole night, I had the test FAIL with like 40 errors, what's curious though is that when looking at the adresses and GB sector of each error, I had errors on ALL slots, but mostly the last slot. Good. Ok let me just remove the good ram, that I had before, and run the test again only with this "bad" ram. For the purpose of easier clarity: Before this, the initial sticks were placed in slots 2 and 4, in Dual channel mode of course, and i've read it's better to have the last slot occupied to avoid some sort of "echo" effect or something related to the motherboards and the way they are designed. We will call the above configuration of occupied slots - "default". Tested the good sticks in default configuration - Passed, 0 Errors - to provide a baseline. Tested the good sticks on the other slots - Passed, 0 Errors - to check faulty slots. Tested the "bad" sticks in default configuration - Passed, 0 Errors. - huh? Tested the "bad" sticks on the other slots - Passed, 0 Errors - nah this isn't real And finally, I put all the sticks in the same configuration as I had them on the first day, when I got the errors and the system crashes, and let it run over night. - 10 Hours, 7 Passes, 0 Errors. Well, shit. I was so much in disbelief that I thought maybe the XMP profile somehow got disabled, so since it's not on OC speeds, the RAM is much more stable => no errors, but nope, XMP profile was enabled, exactly as I had it before. There's also something else, once when running memtest86, I had the PC just reboot itself without my input, interrupting the test completely... After that day and all those tests, I couldn't draw any conclusion so I just kept using the system as-is, with all RAM sticks installed. After 3 days of the system running just fine, with no problems, now they started to popup again: CS2 Crashes mid game, straight to desktop. Ready or Not crashes while in mission. Hell Let Loose crashes while playing a match. System freezes accompanied by forced reboot Windows blue screen. The Blue screen i've been getting is not quite "normal", it's only on half the screen, the rest being black, and it's very glitchy, the same section is visible like 3-4 times, on the same screen. As I'm writing this article, I kept trying to play Ready Or Not but It crashed 3 times in like 50 minutes, CS2 also crashed again today....so I capitulated. Is the RAM good for my system/cpu/mobo? - From what I've seen there shouldn't be a problem. Maybe it's a defective Mobo? Are AMD systems this bad when it comes to stability? - I've heard they have somewhat of a bad reputation, before the purchase, I didn't think so at all, but after all these months of pain, I don't know what to believe anymore... Is this maybe related to the "bad" GPU I've had? The symptoms are very very similar... maybe that poor RX 6700 had no fault... Could I have gotten "better" parts? - Yes, sure, these are not the "best" parts or brands known for the best quality or "premium-ness" of their products, but I'm not a guy who needs to play the latest and greatest on max settings. I'm a simple PC gamer, I don't mind doing optimizations getting my hands dirty and lowering settings.... Besides, it's more efficient to go for a mid-range build money-wise, the jump to high end is waay more expensive and you don't get much more "bang" for the buck. - So that's why I've chosen these parts/brands, and none of the chosen brands scream "problems" to me. They are not the best but also not the worst. Mid-range! PC Specs: System age - Hardware: 10 months, 18 days System age - OS: 5 months (I went through multiple Windows reinstalls recently...) I have no idea what is wrong with my system, it could be connected to the stability issues i've had with the "bad" GPU before, maybe the GPU wasn't even bad and it's the same problem but with different symptoms... I just want it to be over In Event Viewer on the fateful day when I first installed the new RAM, there were LOADS of DistributedCOM, Bits-Client, and also a few Kernel-Power errors:
  5. Hello, I'm an aspiring 3d artist and a not so hard-core gamer. I have an Acer Aspire 7 gaming laptop which I bought about 3 years ago. Now the issue is since last couple of months it's giving me BOSD errors specifically -DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR whenever I try to open a 3d application or try to play a game. I tried to contact Microsoft, Acer and Nvidia but they couldn't help me and just suggested me to go to a repair shop. I went to a repair shop but the thing is where I live, I don't think they are very well skilled to repair this kindda mess. So they said they couldn't fix it and just told me to buy a new PC. (NOTE- when I disable my dedicated GPU the PC works fine but as soon as I enable it the PC crashes on the last frame, but what good is a pc without a GPU right??). Fixes I have tried till now- 1. Reset it 3 times. 2. Updated all the drivers. 3. I showed it to a technician (who i think was not so skilled). Please help me out as I currently cannot afford to get myself a new PC. link-https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1dxaveU_GNKurJwDLz1-PfJpSWfgHzOSS?usp=sharing ALSO, I had issues with the perfmon command for some reason i was not able to save the performance report even though I opened it as an administrator info.nfo
  6. Can someone help me real quick, I got a BSOD last night I was playing some modded Minecraft and when I was done I switched over to Chrome however as soon as I switched I got a BSOD, and the PC restarted. This morning i decided to check in event viewer to see what happened and I got " 0x00000139". What doesnt make sense to me is why it only happened now because I've been playing that same modded Minecraft for months now without updating it, and the only thing I have changed with my PC in the past couple of days is switching from Nivida GPU to an AMD GPU and yes I ran DDU to uninstall and the Nivida drivers and apps. I am also going to attach my DMP file to see if that will help. I dug a little deeper into the DMP and I found this. 7. I bought a new ssd and installed a os not yet activated win10 home. *Kingston 960gb ssd 2.5 since its a new storage i download new drive for it and for my gpu the amd andrenaline. download a few games. but within along i notice that windows virus scan was prompted that something is trying to gain access so it blocked it. then the pc comes to slow or shows error or shutdown or bsod. i tried every cmd command from: -sfc /scannow -dism -chkdsk with either /f /r and another -attributes disk clear readonly cause it seems write protected, i did 3 clean install or format of the ssd all still leading to the same either problem. but another thing is that before i used a hdd no problem. installed another os and games, played a few on aother hdd no problem (did not download amd andrenaline cause amdrss is showing im afraid). im guessing its the ssd but it could be just trojan or something else im not looking up to. i hope to get some insight but ill keep trying but if it doesnt work for the 5th or 6th i might considered using a warranty on it if it covers it. specs : i5 9400 ram: 2x8gb hyperx beast 3200mhz at 2666 only since it cannot run 3200 mb: b365m ds3h gigabyte psu: 80+ bronze fsp something
  8. background: Purchased my Powerspec G472 from Microcenter (with 1 year warranty whether that makes me a sucker or not) and it has run perfectly fine aside from what *seemed* to be high temps (i now understand that’s just the 13900KF pulling lots of power) issue: ~3 weeks ago I use a motorized blower (nothing crazy powerful) to dust out my pc. Since then, I’ve been receiving completely random black screens. If that holds any relation to the issue I have no clue, but it was my first time cleaning it out and had no issues prior. “The computer rebooted from a bugcheck. Error code: 0x00000139 Kernel_Security_Check_Failure” solutions attempted: - ran windows memory test with 0 flaws - fully reset windows (via settings) - reinstalled graphics drivers - brought to Microcenter their diagnostics said all hardware was functioning as intended i paid $100 for them to reimage windows Picked up the computer from Microcenter tonight, and played about 3 hours before it crashed again with the same error code. The longest it’s gone without crashing was 2 days in the last ~3 weeks. Do I try my luck at Microcenter again or screw the warranty and go somewhere else? Absolutely any advice on this will be monumental as this has become a major thorn in my side.
  9. My lord. It has been a multiple of decades since I came to a forum to post about an issue, but I love this community, so It's probably time I stop lurking So the background of the issue is that I have been trying to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 pretty much since the option became available. For undiagnosed reasons, the upgrade process would always fail, and revert back to Windows 10. Fast forward to today, I purchased a new M.2 Drive to help in migrating to a fresh install of Windows 11 on a new drive. Installation appeared successful from USB media, but upon reboot it would suffer BSOD shortly after POST as it was trying to boot the new OS. There were a range of codes, Kernel Security Check Failure, Kernel Mode Heap Corruption, System Thread Exception not Handled.. etc., etc. It seems to speak to driver issues, but for the life of me I can't update drivers because I can't get into the OS by pretty much any means. I have since been able to replicate the issue on a 'known good' SSD. I have completed basic memory testing, have been back and forth on bios versions, and bios settings, multiple CMOS resets. I can boot to Windows 10 through the bootloader, but Windows 11 is a non-starter. I ran FurMark and Cinebench 2024(new one) to hit both CPU and GPU, It stayed 95 and 75 Degree Celsius respectively for about an hour. 10 seconds into CrystalDiskMark...Baam BSOD. Forget the benchmark, I cannot even download stuff over 15MBps. Why am I getting this? Thanks in advance.
  11. Hello. I build a PC for a friend, and everything was running fine for two days. Suddenly we got a drive repair on boot, windows still working. At the next restart BSOD code 0xc0000185. Tried fixing it with help of Google, ended up doing a clean reinstall. Same problem again, PC works for a few restarts, then BSOD. I tried everything I found on Google, from repair, CMD repair, various programs, used different boot drives created on different PCs. I got a fatal Error ID 41 too, fixed it by changing power settings. Only thing I haven't tried is bios update, but I once bricked a Mainboard so I don't want to do it if this wouldn't fix the problem. Thanks for any help.
  12. So I added 2 more rams of Team Elite Vulcan TUF 2x8 3200mhz. These are same model, die, and timing as what I have been using. I am using these on a Ryzen 5 3600, and B450 Aorus M with F64 bios. I have been experiencing a problem when sometimes BSOD will show but only when booting to windows. But when it does successfully boot to windows, everything seems to be stable. I have verified stability by running OCCT for half an hour. Running it on 3066mhz seems to eliminate the problem. I am wondering if I can fine tune the settings so it would run at 3200mhz stable. Update: Fast boot was causing BSOD. However I noticed that 1st boot is always stable, but when I restart it would become unstable.
  13. Hi, My computer will not boot into anything, other than Win10 safe mode on its boot drive. I cannot perform a clean install as every attempt to boot into an install USB causes a BSOD. I have read the rules for posting about BSOD related issues, however I cannot perform any of the steps required as I cannot boot into any working version of windows (including installation media). Unfortunately this means I cannot provide any dumps, I know this makes troubleshooting much more difficult. Find a description of my system followed by a brief explanation of the previous system configuration, and then an explanation of the testing and diagnosis I have done so far. I am now out of ideas and don’t know what to do next. System Details I have a i5 9600k, ASUS PRIME 390Z-P, 630w PSU and 32GB (4x8GB) of Corsair Vengeance memory. I have a variety of drives types (HDD, SSD, NVME) and all different sizes. The main and target drive for OS installation is a Samsung 990 Pro 2TB. Previous Configuration I was running my boot drive as Windows 10 Pro on a Samsung 980 Pro 1TB. One day I came home from work and the CPU was pinned at 100%. I did some investigating which resulted in turning off hyper-v as the fix, however I continued to see my CPU pinned at 100% and then suddenly a couple of weeks later this behaviour subsided (it did not completely disappear, it became intermittent). A few weeks later, I migrated my boot drive to the current 990 Pro and then started having boot issues. Originally, it would boot after a couple of tries. At this time I wasn’t using it often and I hadn’t noticed it had restarted and had stayed on a BSOD since. (It should be noted the BSOD error message is different every time) Testing and diagnosis Booting into safe mode from the 990 Pro works, both with networking and with command prompt. Sfc, bcd and other common command line tools report no errors with the OS, boot drive or other configuration. Booting into the Win10 boot drive, Win10 USB installer, Win11 USB installer, WinPE USB all fail each time with a BSOD (random / new error code each time). I have attempted to boot after the following: I have removed all drives from the system, the GPU, and all other peripherals. I have removed all but one memory stick and rotated which motherboard slot it is placed in. I have tried every combination of secure boot, fast boot and CSM for each boot attempt too. I have also completed a memory test (DOS style blue ish screen) with WinPE and the Win10 USB, which reports no errors with any of the 4 memory sticks (all tested individually) To be thorough, I used numerous different USB drives to attempt to boot, to eliminate this as a factor, with no changes to boot success. The BIOS has the latest update from ASUS, and has also been reset to factory defaults. I have left the computer several times boot looping, each time it may fail slightly earlier or later, and each time with a different error code. What to do? To me the next logical step would be to attempt to eliminate the PSU, motherboard, CPU (in that order). However I do not have spares for these components that I can drop in, and I would like to avoid buying new components “just to see”. I don’t believe I can conclude the CPU is dead, as it boots into safe mode just fine. I can even perform relatively heavy tasks like transcoding with ffmpeg without stability issues. I would be truly grateful if anyone has some insight into any other troubleshooting tips or suggestions. My data is backed up so I am open to wiping / deleting / resetting anything (although not sure what this could apply to as it still BSODs with no drives!)
  14. Hiya guys, I'm new here but I've been struggling with pc issues since I upgraded when the 4090 launched last year. I upgraded my entire rig to top end specs and since then I've been having constant struggles with my pc. Taken it into a local computer repair shop and tried to troubleshoot it myself to no avail. The issues I've been having are frequent BSODS and game crashes. An example of some of the BSODS are 'KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED' , 'BAD_POOL_HEADER' and 'SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION'. The computer repair shop said that it was a ram issue and since then I've bought new ram and am still struggling with these issues but less frequently (this is how it started last time and it got worse over time). If anyone can help that would be great as I've been struggling for a while. My full specs are: Zotac trinity RTX 4090 i9-13900k 32gb TridentZ royal 4000mhz (F4-4000C18D-32GTRS) rog thor 1200w (not new psu spec) rog strix z790-A gaming wifi d4 nzxt kraken z73 rgb nzxt h9 elite I've also got some custom psu cables if that helps anyone come up with a possible solution Thanks so much in advance!

Sysnative BSOD collector is still running. Will update this post once it finishes. Failures happens at irregular intervals and the BSOD screen dissapears so fast I can't even read the error code. It happens intermittenly, mostly while playing games (Anno 1800), Sometimes it crashes while browsing (just watching youtube). I ran furmark and prime95 for 30 minutes to check if it is an overheating issue but it didn't crash. I swapped out the SSD I thought was overheating because it was unavailable multiple times just before a crash. Had some crashes happend while just downloading steam updates, not actively using computer. Still have to test if the problem persists with stock clocks. Reset GPU for now and will reset RAM at next reboot when checking BIOS. How can I reinstall windows while keeping my files nowadays? I would like to try that
  17. Hi, since a few months I have problems with my custom build PC from 2019: 1. It irregularly crashes with different BSOD. Sometimes multiple times a day. Sometimes once every few weeks. Some of the BSOD messages are: KERNEL DATA INPAGE ERROR KERNEL STACK INPAGE ERROR SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION MEMORY MANGEMENT DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL amdkmgag.sysNDLED dxgmms2.sysD AREA They all seem to point to something different, either it's the RAM, the GPU driver or the hard drive etc. 2. It irregularly does not boot. Although the fans are running and the GPU shows some light, the displays stay black. After about 10 seconds I hear 5 quick beeps. While this officially means, that no GPU was detected, some research shows that this could either be a GPU, CPU (wich has no onboard graphics) or Mainboard issue (e.g. see here). As I don't have an extra CPU or GPU laying around and the errors sometimes do not appear for several weeks, I don't know how further narrow this down. A method to solve this problem in the past was to turn off the power switch of the PSU and wait for 30-60 minutes. 3. Often it does not awake from putting int into power saving mode. Nothing happens when klicking on the keyboard or mouse. Only a hard restart via the power button helps. In some but not all of these cases the PC will not boot as described in no. 2 What I tried so far with no result: check storage health for all hard drives (with chkdsk and CrystalDiskInfo) check memory for errors (with Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool) only run with different single ram bars uninstall and reinstallt latest AMD GPU driver update BIOS disassembly the CPU and apply new thermal paste disassembly the GPU, including the attached cooler and cleaning it from any dust unplug some of the hard drivers Currently my PC is not starting at all (see no. 2). Therefore I also cannot provide something like a crash dump or event log export at the moment. But I will happily do so if the PC boots again. (EDIT: I attached the files in this comment) Any help to solve this problem or at least narrow down the cause would be highly appreciated as I don't know what to do anymore and don't want to buy new hardware if I am not sure that this will solve the problem. 18. Before you go into the comments, I have all the latest drivers and have freshly reinstalled Windows. If you still think there is some lesser-known driver I may have forgotten, go ahead. For over two years now, I have been having multiple daily issues with my computer. Here they are in chronological order as they´ve shown up over time. 1. STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION error on YouTube, tab crashes (became less common after the first few months) 2. Blue screens (BSOD) : (multiple daily) (see errors below) 3. Random restart (rare, weekly) 4. PC turns to a slideshow, ~5sec per frame (super rare, comes and goes) 5. Game/chrome just closes, never happens when gaming, only when idle with the game open in the background (few daily, increasingly more common) 6. Full Freeze, no input works (very rare) 7. Windows File Explorer dies, stuck loading (multiple daily) The interesting thing that I´ve noticed is that I never blue screen when gaming. So to test out this theory I decided to keep a game open in the background.. and it worked! Out of all the games I´ve tried, Dota Underlords works best on its own. So every time I launch the PC it is a race to launch Dota Underlords before I blue screen. Interestingly, even with it open, I still need to be doing something on the computer to mitigate the blue screens. I can be sitting here watching youtube or whatever for 5 hours straight with no issues, but the moment I leave the room for 2 minutes, I return to a restarted computer. Recently however, even that is not enough, the problems keep escalating and Dota Underlords keeps crashing on its own (showing a gpu usage spike in task manager) leading to the blue screen shortly after. I´ve found that having Civilization 6 open on top of that minimizes this. My conclusion then was that it is either a Windows issue, or a disk issue. The various blue screen error codes tell me either of a corruption or maybe something wrong with the anti-virus/security, since another thing that I´ve noticed recently is Windows Defender almost daily gives me a status report of how it scanned the device 6 times and found nothing. So, I opened up the PC, cleaned it using my hands, compressed air and a vacuum cleaner. I also swapped around which SATA ports my SSDs use. I took out the GPU and dusted it. Then I put in a BRAND NEW type of drive (M.2 NVMe Samsung 970 EVO PLUS) that my computer has NEVER SEEN and installed a BRAND NEW operating system (MX Linux, allegedly the most stable OS possible) on it that my computer has NEVER SEEN and the result??? No difference. While it doesnt crash (self restart) like the Windows installation, the browsers (firefox, chrome) crash upon launch or within 3 seconds. IT CONSISTENTLY FREEZES after a while of doing something like downloading discord, opening pdfs or browsers. So load seems to have an opposite effect than it does on the Windows installation, but while it is "stable" when idle, I STILL CANT DO ANYTHING. Listening to LTG is the only option I feel I have left. 19. Hey, for the past few weeks ive been getting a BSOD. Its taken me time to narrow down why but im usually getting the stop code of 'WHEA_UNCONTROLLABLE_ERROR'. Usually when i play games both a short or long period of time. Ive also looked into the event logger and found the event 46 id: A fatal hardware error has occurred. Component: Memory Error Source: Machine Check Exception The details view of this entry contains further information. Could it be something I need to do in the bios? or my hardware? I struggled with the bios when I first built is as I dont really know what to do. Ive reinstalled my ram twice but have not done a deep look behind the motherboard for any stratches. Ive also reinstalled my graphics drivers a couple times and seen no good results. I have a custom built pc built around 3 months ago but my issue has only really just come up. 21. SOLUTION: I ended up replacing the RAM and it works fine now. I just build a new PC and randomly get a bsod with MEMORY_MANAGEMENT. I have a MSI Pro Z790S with an i7-13700K and Corsair Vengeance 2 * 32GB DDR5 5600 ram. I have tried tweaking some settings in the bios (like turning off XMP, using MSI's Memory Try it!, changing voltages, speeds...) with no luck Here is the Minidump: Minidump.zip
  22. Hey! For a few years now I've been having random BSODs on my PC, and recently I've decided to change some parts of the PC to check what could be the issue. The usuals BSODs I have are: -IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL (ntoskrnel.exe) -HYPERVISOR ERROR -PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA Clean reinstalled W10 few times and still having issues. Updated to W11 and still having those. Recently, apart from the BSODs, every game I play crashes without an error code, usually when playing around 10 minutes or so. I bought new RAM yesterday to see if that was the issue (even tho I ran a memtest on the old RAM and passed the tests). If it helps, my CPU (Ryzen 5 3600) had a few pins bent when my dad was trying to install it, but he straightened them all and I've been working with that CPU since then. What could be the issue for all of this? I'm really fed up with this problem. EDIT1: https://www.mediafire.com/file/738k8eaq81zaj63/Minidump.zip/file Minidump (just reinstalled W10 one hour ago, only had 1 BSOD since then)
  23. (Sorry for the bad english it’s not my first language) I recently upgraded my system massively to this: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Yodaking8549/saved/#view=WghTmG and I reinstalled Windows (10). I got a Bluescreen saying MEMORY_MANAGEMENT during the install. The PC started again and went on to finish installing windows. After that I had no issues for about a week. Then (only sometimes not all the time) the PC bluescreened with the same error code (After a restart everything worked fine tho). Another week passes and I get the bluescreen while starting. Then windows automatic repair pops up and says windows couldn’t repair your PC. I went through all the troubleshooting options but nothing worked. So I decided to reinstall once again, this time windows 11. The same issues occur in the same time frame. After I got to windows automatic repair once again I ran command line and tried sfc /scannow and was met with „windows found corrupt files but could not fix them“. I thought it may be the new 980 pro that is broken so I reinstalled once again and ran the extended test in Samsung magician. No bad cells. I’m so confused in what my problem could be and how to fix it. If anyone has any ideas PLEASE let me know. Thanks in advance
  24. Basically my computer was running fine for awhile and now I get Clock Watchdog Timeout / BSOD errors more and more fequently. From playing games my computer would close the game almost like ALT-F4 and go directly to desktop. Or more intense games it would lock up the computer and then crash to Clock Watchdog Timeout / BSOD, where it trys to run the percentage but stops at 43% then I have to force a restart. It got so bad to the point when downloading games on Steam could cause a crash. I have reinstalled Windows 10 Version 22H2, reinstalled latest drivers, did a Chkdsk on CDRIVE /Windows, run a memtest86 which all ram sticks have passed, Running anything like prime95, passmark, 3dmark, cinebench, will run for a few seconds then I get a Clock Watchdog Timeout Here are my specs: Power Supply: Corsair RMx 1000W Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z690-E GAMING WIFI ATX LGA1700 Ram: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 64 GB (4 x 16 GB) DDR5-6200 CL36 Memory Graphics Card: EVGA - GeForce RTX 3090 Ti 24GB FTW 3 Cpu: Intel Core i9-12900KS 3.4 GHz 16-Core Processor Cpu Cooler: Noctua NH-U9S 46.4 CFM Everything on my motherboard is at Auto, I never changed anything to OC GPU or CPU, I have updated to the latest bios and now I have removed the CMOS battery and running the test again but still crashes.. Problem: For the last two or three graphics driver updates (via GeForce Experience), the screen goes black (as usual) but then I can hear something changes with the fans and then after waiting a while I get a BSOD (see attached image). I have no idea what causes it. It is only when I update my drivers that it does this. The only other weird behaviour that I see with my PC is sometimes after I close Path of Exile my computer often lags a lot and is super slow. That may resolve itself eventually but usually I shut the computer down then. Any idea what could be the issue? Should I be worrying about my hardware? Should I reinstall windows?
