Ok , I understand this question probably seems stupid, however, I'm going to ask it anyway. Any Input would be appreciated. What I'm Looking for: I want to find an "app" or website, or whatever you'd like to call it, which me and my friend (me on windows/android) and her on iOS(Safari only: CANNOT INSTALL AN APP FOR THIS) can chat, IM/Send files/pictures etc. So similar to something like Kik, without the need for a cell phone (Just an iOS iPod). To reiterate, I have an Android Smartphone and a Windows PC. My friend only has an iPod on Wi-Fi ,however it cannot install apps for reasons. But we can do things in Safari on her end and Chrome on mine. Thanks. ~DivideBy0

So I installed Solid Edge because I Use it in school, but when I opened browsers and went to some sites I normally use (not all of them) Solid Edge have somehow changed the font on those sites. And I do not like that font it it changed in to. I have tried changing the browser settings that have to do with fonts, but nothing changes. Do anyone know a fix or workaround?

Greeting, first of all apologies if this is not the correct sub forum i wasn't sure exactly which category these questions belong to.. Onto my questions.. I've recently picked up browser games while taking a much needed break from larger MMO gaming and after a few months of this i need to try to fix some issues i am having.. 1. The game has a lot of in-game menus and stages each requiring a loading screen so i want to find a way to speed this up (if it's possible and not a server issue) some days it loads alright but most of the time it can take a couple of minutes to load, when it loads slow i tend to miss things for the in-game events each day. 2. Is it worth buying a new router? Currently using Technicolour TG797n V3 which was sent by my ISP and i never considered it to be an issue in my internet speed until lately as i've run out of other ideas. 3. Is there a way to prioritize my browser to receive bandwidth over other programs / computers on the same network? Currently one other computer on the same network playing the same game. Using a mix of EDGE and Chrome and both seem to run the same. I regularly run CCleaner, Malewarebytes and AVG scans to keep my system running smooth. PC Specs Win 10 pro 64-bit i7-4770k 3.5GHz 8GB RAM GTX 760 14Mbps down 0.80Mbps up (Speedtest.net) If anyone can give any advice and help soothe my rage when i see a loading screen it would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I've been using Google Chrome for years and did not care to try out Edge. But today I did, and honestly I'm starting to love the feel of it and just the way it looks. Are there any major drawbacks from swapping over to Edge?

So long story short I was tricked while trying to install an emulator. I cleaned my computer mostly but I have 2 persisting issues. Google Chrome is redirecting me to bing via s.coldsearch.com and I can't change the setting, because it says it's being enforced by the admin. Edge redirects me to search.mpc.am and when I try to change the default search engine the browser just closes itself. Honestly I've never infected a computer as badly as I did yesterday and I don't know what steps to take next. I thought it might've been something in group policy but windows 10 pro doesn't appear to have policy editing. Please help (sorry if this is in the wrong place)

I pay for 1 Gbps Internet (both download and upload) and when uploading to Google Drive from a browser the speed can vary depending on which browser I use. I am using a Windows 7 computer, 8 GB RAM, core i5 2400 and a realtek gigabit NIC to upload the file. It is connected to the network using a CAT 5E Ethernet cable. I am uploading a single zip file/folder that is about 200 GB in size. Before the upload I decide to run a speed test and get about 600 Mbps down and 600 Mbps up. I'm not going to complain about those speeds even though I pay for 1 Gbps both directions. I begin with uploading the file using Google Chrome and check my network utilization in task manager. It sits at about 6% to 7% meaning my upload is around 65 Mbps in Chrome. I then decide to cancel the upload which drops my network utilization down to 0% and try uploading from Internet Explorer 11. When I start the upload in Internet Explorer my network utilization jumps up to 35%-40% which is around 375 Mbps upload. The amount of time it took me to stop the upload in Chrome and start it in Internet Explorer was about 3 minutes and I changed nothing besides the browser. The questions I have are is it the browser to blame? Can an ISP throttle usage based on which browser a customer is using? Is Google throttling my upload? Hard to believe Google would throttle its own browser.

Hi everyone, I'm having some issues with Internet Explorer. If I double click the icon for it, I get the loading circle next to the mouse pointer for a couple seconds, which then disappears and nothing loads, ever. No error messages either. I have looked in task manager and whilst this is happening internet explorer never appears (unless I'm missing it). Things I have tried: Running without add ons/extensions. Running as administrator Disabling internet explorer - restarting - enabling internet explorer - restarting Resetting internet explorer in Internet Options menu Running malwarebytes (no threats) All of the above has not worked at all and I'm at a loss of what to do. This is with a brand new installation of windows 7 professional, with mostly brand hew hardware (excluding RAM and PSU). The PC has 4GB ram and an I3 4170. This problem occurs when no other programs are running so it cant be a ram issue? Please don't suggest other web browsers, this is my fathers PC and he likes his internet explorer 11 (for some reason). I also want to understand what the problem is here. Thanks in advance, much appreciated.

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me with this please. I recently did a full format and reinstall of my OS (Win7 x64). Everything is now installed and up to date, yet, when I install and try to run Unigine Valley and Heaven, I receive an error on startup: "Windows cannot find 'browser_x86'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, then try again". I've tried 3 uninstalls and reinstalls of both apps, doing complete shutdowns in between, and I've checked in the install folders and 'browser_x86' is present as it should be, yet it fails to launch every time. Anyone got any ideas as I've used both these apps pretty much since they released and I've never experienced an issue, so I'm stumped Appreciate the help.

After 10 minutes on my PC chrome stops responding, I close it and try to restart chrome but when I click on it nothing happens. So I try to use edge but that dosn't work either. Now the start menu and file explorer do the same thing. However I can still right click on everything but file explorer and open control panel etc. I have ran malware-bytes and Sophos protection. Both returned no malware or quarantined items. I restarted my PC but it just happened again after 10 minutes. All that has changed since my PC was okay: I downloaded virtual box, Half downloaded Ubuntu Linux, and downloaded Malware-bytes after the restart. I have no idea what has happened, I know the internet is fine because I am writing this post on my laptop and can open Spotify and play music through the desktop on my PC. Someone please help, I need my computer working ASAP.

Hi, I'm curious to know what Firefox addons/extensions/plugins you have that you think are necessary. As I would like to use some of whatever is mentioned myself, my idea of necessary in my case is: Security (avoiding malware, virus', etc) Privacy, and; Improving performance. Not looking to change the appearance/aesthetics of the browser... nor will I need anyone suggesting Adblock. Cheers!

Hi guys, I am living in a rural area at the moment, with a limited broadband connection. My ISP does, however, allow for free data use between 00:00 and 06:00. I was wondering if there is any way to get a browser (preferably chrome) to only download between these hours (I leave my computer on normally at night). Thanks!

Millions of Firefox user might be vulnerable to a new kind of exploit. It uses a weakness in Mozillas Browser: lacking compartmentalisation of extensions. By using the capabilities and privileges of one or more of the vulnerable extensions, attacker could force a Browser to open a Website containing malicous content and eventually execute arbitrairy code on the victim's machine. Of the top 10 most popular add-ons vetted by Mozilla officials and made available on the Mozilla website, only Adblock Plus was found to contain no flaws. The Attack seem to be in the proof-of-concept stage, there are no reports of the vulnerability being exploited in the wild. EDIT: For the attack to be properly executed, a victim would have to download a compromised add-on in the first place. The Ball is now in Mozilla's park since only a proper vetting of extensions would lead to a short-term resolution of the problem. PLEASE NOTE: TOR can be used to access illegal services and websites, I do not in anyway endorse or encourage anyone to access these types of websites and use of their services. What Tor Does Tor is short for The Onion Router (thus the logo) and was initially a worldwide network of servers developed with the U.S. Navy that enabled people to browse the internet anonymously. Now, it's a non-profit organization whose main purpose is the research and development of online privacy tools. The Tor network disguises your identity by moving your traffic across different Tor servers, and encrypting that traffic so it isn't traced back to you. Anyone who tries would see traffic coming from random nodes on the Tor network, rather than your computer. To access this network, you just need to download the Tor browser. Everything you do in the browser goes through the Tor network and doesn't need any setup or configuration from you. That said, since your data goes through a lot of relays, it's slow, so you'll experience a much more sluggish internet than usual when you're using Tor. What Tor Is Good For If you want to be anonymous—say, if you live under a dictatorship, you're a journalist in an oppressive country, or a hacker looking to stay hidden from the government—Tor is one of the easiest ways to anonymize your traffic, and it's free. It's far from perfect, though (we'll get to that in a moment). On a more general level, Tor is useful for anyone who wants to keep their internet activities out of the hands of advertisers, ISPs, and web sites. That includes people getting around censorship restrictions in their country, police officers looking to hide their IP address, or anyone else who doesn't want their browsing habits linked to them. Tor's technology isn't just about browsing anonymously. It can also host web sites through its hidden services that are only accessible by other Tor users. What Tor Doesn't Do Tor is handy, but it's far from perfect. Don't think just because you're using Tor that you're perfectly anonymous. Someone like the NSA can tell if you're a Tor user and that makes them more likely to target you. With a enough work, the government can figure out who you are. Motherboard points to a recent FBI bust that shows how this might work: Furthermore, anonymity is not the same as security. It's hard to hack into the Tor network, but the browser is a different story. As we found at least year, the NSA can get into your browser a lot easier than it can the network and once it does, it gets access to everything else. So, "man in the middle" style attacks on Tor are still possible with help of internet service providers. Tor responded to these possible attacks with these comments: As the How-To Geek points out, you still need to use HTTPS whenever possible to protect yourself from man-in-the-middle style attacks. Likewise, Tor's only as strong as its browser, which has had security flaws before, so it's worth making sure you always have the newest version. So Should You Use Tor? As we mentioned above, if you're an average user looking at cat GIFs and browsing Facebook, you probably don't need to worry about the government spying on your activity, and Tor is just going to slow down your connection. It's more likely that you need to secure your internet rather than anonymize it, say, when you're using public Wi-Fi. In that case, you'd want to make sure you're using HTTPS on all sites that support it, and possibly even use a VPN to encrypt all your traffic when you're away from home. Hey guys, Now that I have my desktop in my dorm, the laptop is used out and about where I'm not that close to a wall outlet, and because of that I need to change the way I use it to preserve battery life. One of those things is not using chrome, because it uses more of the cpu can some of the games I play... (and still manages to be laggy as shit) same story with firefox, but to a lesser extent. Opera is just based of chrome, so there isnt much luck there. I have resorted to MS Edge up till now, but its just an awful browser to use... I'm having more trouble now than ever before, and it seems to be getting worse. Microsoft tries to shove it down our throats but refuses to make it a viable alternative to the aforementioned browsers. Guess its the trouble of using a laptop running the mess of an ecosystem that is windows... With that rant out of the way, is there any other browser that won't kill the battery life?

Why Google ? Why? Alas, the time has come, Begone ye old banished viking OS , it's time to swag things up a bit, Google has officially announced that it's ending it's support for older version of operating system for PC & Mac versions, Now don't worry, you will still be able to install run the browsers to a certain version , but the updates won't work & it'll pretty much be stagnant without further improvement, but still browsable tho.. Starting April 2016, Chrome will continue to function on these platforms but will no longer receive updates or security fixes.. Support ends for these versions of Operating systems: Windows: Windows XP Windows Vista, Apple: Mac OS X 10.6, 10.7 10.8 Google have provided a statement the main reason is that these platforms are no longer actively supported by Microsoft and Apple , meaning not properly updated & maintained , in a nutshell older platforms are missing critical security updates and have a greater potential to be infected by viruses and malware. Chrome running on windows XP Operating system Pretty sad news for those who are using an older pc with an older OS running on the background who is used to browsing on Chrome who relied on up to date secure browser Source: http://chrome.blogspot.co.uk/2015/11/updates-to-chrome-platform-support.html Post your thoughts on this down below..& rant on old OS users

Hi, my MS Surface 2 which I use for school always opens the mobile versions of sites, which is really annoying since I always use it with a keyboard and mouse. I almost always use my Surface in desktop mode, and rarely go into the windows 8 style start screen. Most sites have a button which allows me to change to the full site, but it would be great if there was a way to make it open the full site automatically. Anyone know how to do this?

I have been using win10 on my desktop since it came out. However since last night, chrome had been acting weird. It keeps crashing and crashing no matter what I do. I tried to uninstall, and later reinstall it , but the results are the same. After I opened it, it will freeze, then it closes itself. What info do I need to provide , in order to let you guys help me troubleshoot it. I tried to search on Google, some ppl suggest that I use 32bit version of chrome instead of 64 bit. I tried, it did not help at all.

Apparently the Microsoft Edge browser still records your browsing history in "In Private" mode. I stopped using the browser awhile ago because it just isn't as good as Chrome or Firefox when it comes to user interface, performance, or customization; but this is another reason for me to avoid it. TLDR: DON't use Edge's "In Private mode if you value privacy, it still records your history. http://betanews.com/2016/01/30/stop-using-microsoft-edges-inprivate-mode-if-you-value-your-privacy/
