So I have a bit of a problem. I opened chrome canary (my browser of choice) about a day ago and to my surprise I came a across this: (from left to right: Firefox, Chrome Canary signed in on my personal gmail, Edge, and Chrome Canary signed in to my school account) As you can see chrome is displaying colors oddly, almost like somebody messed with the color settings of a monitor and turned down the contrast. I have tried rebooting, checking for updates (I figured that if this was a major problem in the latest release that it would be patched quickly) and to no avail. I did some googling and I could not find anyone with my issue so that was a dead end. I have not tried reinstalling yet because for some reason it's a pain in the ass on this machine and if possible I would rather not have to reinstall chrome canary. Long story short how do I get the colors back to normal If you need my system specs they are in my signature.

Hello. I would like to make a website where you can only enter with Firefox or Chrome. I would like to have a GO that can be clickable only when on the proper browser.

Ah again I come here with an all new problem. So, here's the deal. I Upgraded to an i7-6700 on a B150 Motherboard, 16Gb RAM, GTX 1080, new Windows 10 64bit installation. All drivers are up to date and gaming wise the üerformance is as good as you'd expect. But. When playing WoW (not that taxing of a game, limited at 60fps, borderless window) I experience a significant input lag on my secont monitor when using any browser. Chrome, Firefox, Edge, all do that. Even the windows own explorer for data does it a bit. But, as soon as I put anything in front of WoW on my first monitor (any folder, another browser, game launcher) it runs perfetly smooth. Any of you any idea what that is and how to fix it? P.S.: I turned of hardware acceleration in chrome but that didn't help, however, turning it on perfectly replicates the problem. Maybe that helps?

http://blog.strml.net/2017/01/chrome-56-now-aggressively-throttles.html https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/forum/#!topic/blink-dev/-dmrNAFHd-4/discussion https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=13471543 In layman's terms, this can be summarized as: Tabs in the foreground run as normal Tabs in the background have a computing "budget" for how many seconds of compute time they use Once a background tab budget is zero or negative, it is suspended and has to wait for more budget to accumulate Tabs that play audio are exempt from this There are two thoughts in response to this. Everyone on hacker news is pretty gung-ho about it, but some developers are concerned about how this will "break the internet". Personally, I'm for it. Background music play isn't affected, and if I need something running in the background, I can make it a new window.

FIXED, answer down below So i have been using this pc for a few years now, overcame many a hurdles but am generally really happy with it but is currently a nuisance to use. specs: When i start a browser and surf the web a bit my C: drive rockets to 100% usage but it's transfer speed drops to 0B/s I have been able to reproduce the issue many a times on chrome, torch(also chromium) and opera, but this doesn't not seem to affect steam(as of yet(steam is glorified web browser)) also all the other drives don't transfer anything anymore, i assume this is a software issue, as it doesn't happen with other applications(games(warframe,banished,witcher3,etc),torrents,visual studio or any other imaginable task that is not one of the previously mentioned browsers. notably though it still samples the USB bus and applications that do not read data from the disk at the time of the freeze still work fine-ish foobar still plays music and i can play and pause with my keyboard shortcuts(thus USB still responding) but i cannot move the window of the application. so audio still works usb still works CPU doesn't freeze up as it still executes threads but when a program tries to access a read or write function at the time of the freeze the program halts(waiting for read/write to finish?)(basicly everything in time starting with chrome and in a blink of an eye the windows ui too and slowly the other applications. the most interesting would be that not only the ssd stops reading/writing but so does the other drive but only the ssd is at 100% usage, my suspicion: chrome trying to write to a bad sector on the ssd? i highly doubt it is a sata controller hardware failure, as then it would happen at different applications too. so i wonder what do browsers do that other applications don't do? and why is steam not afflicted?

An article from Bleeping Computer has quoted Bram Cohen (creator of the BitTorrent protocol) as stating that the next version of uTorrent will be moving to a web based interface from the desktop client. The article is quoting Mr. Cohen from an episode of the 'Steal This Show' podcast from the weekend as saying: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/software/utorrent-will-move-to-the-web-browser/ According to the article, some of this has been tried in the past several times with things like standalone Javascript Libraries, the WebTorrent project and the Maelstrom browser. Some of the technologies that they will be implementing will be those that were developed for the Maelstrom browser itself, however, this new version will supposedly run in the users default browser of choice. The article thinks that they are looking at how a change to an Ad generated revenue model over the toolbar installation revenue generation is allowing them to move to this web-based client as opposed to the desktop client. Personally, I think this could be a good move, however, it will depend on how well the web-client is at preventing malware from being delivered and spread. I am concerned about how much access to settings and how intrusive ads may be from the web-client over a desktop. For the sake of keeping this thread on track, please try not to go off on a tangent concerning the use of torrents for piracy of copyrighted material.

So I currently am using a zowie ec1-a and I use my side mouse buttons as push-to-talk for discord and teamspeak but I'd like to keep them from activating the back/forward functions in Chrome without disabling them entirely

I was just wondering if there were any browser extensions or apps that changed the background image to one of your choices while viewing a web page with them. Thanks for any input and please tell me if my thoughts are completely misguided and unfeasible.

This just started today. Any website I go on that uses https comes up "not secure". It doesn't matter what browser I use (Edge, Chrome, Firefox, hell even Steam). I've tried restarting, turning off and on my firewall, turning off antivirus, but nothing seems to fix it. Any suggestions?

Today I've been getting hammered by some adware or browser hijack. What happens is that at random times when I want to open a new tab, the tab I was on previously will redirect to some stupid gambling website, a sweepstakes website, or to a page advertising some junk Chrome extension. Today is the first time this has happened, and I haven't installed anything over the last several weeks. I did visit a website (extremetech.com) that hit me hard with ads, even though I have Adblock Plus with only a select few websites whitelisted. To address this I've deleted my Chrome user data from the past week, and I've run Malwarebytes 4 times along with Ad-aware, Junkware Removal tool, RKill, and Hitman Pro. Hijackthis revealed nothing out of the ordinary. Malwarebytes is the only program so far that has actually found anything. On the first scan it found 4 PUPs for some crap called NewTabTV. Rebooted after first scan. Second and third scans found nothing. Rebooted again. Fourth scan found 4 more PUPs for Mindspark. Rebooted for a third time. So far nothing, but I won't be surprised if this continues.

Microsoft Edge should be on Android. We all know and see and that Google Chrome is by far the most used and loved browser nowadays, be it Windows, Linux, Android or even MacOS or its mobile counterpart. The wide range of extensions, speed and ease of use make it the go-to option for most users. When we all saw Microsoft Edge for the first time, let's face it, it didn't suck. In fact it had potential and is still extremely easy to use, and fast as well. As for extensions, how many of us actually even use extentions? I decided last week to give Edge a trial run for a week and see how well it handled me. And to be honest, I was surprised. It's an amazing and fast browser, well thought out and blends perfectly with Windows 10. However, the only thing that kept me back from making Edge as my daily browser, is that there's no Android counterpart for it. Neither for Linux, or iOS. I missed being able to check my browsing data from one device to another and it hindered with my habit of doing a lot of my productivity on mobile devices. The ability to sync across all devices is just amazing, and not having it there makes a browser seem incomplete. Microsoft is heading towards the right direction by joining and linking everything to a single Microsoft account, and I wish it were the same with Edge.

I don't really have anything to do with this data, I'm just curious and I thought some other people here could use it.

Remember when Mozilla held a download day for its new version of Firefox, I think it was version 5, back in 2008ish? They broke a world record for most downloads in a single day and for everyone who signed up and downloaded the new version on the specified day, they emailed you a PDF saying that you participated in the download. You were able to edit your name into it and everything. My question is, does anyone have this PDF that they can share with me?

This is really strange. I've been streaming using OBS (have now changed over to OBS Studio) for a while now and using Window capture has always worked just fine. Now all of a sudden, it doesn't work for browsers. Only browsers. As in, they're just a black screen. The cursor shows up, but not the window itself. It first happened with the browser I usually use: Vivaldi. It's fairly new and has the occasional bug so I figured alright, it's probably just the browser. So I tried Chrome, and that doesn't work either. Vivaldi's Chromium based, so maybe it's just that? Nope, Firefox and Edge won't work either. I can't find any other program besides browsers that won't work. I downloaded and installed OBS classic, and I'm getting the same results with that as well. What is going on?

Hello ^^ I'm having a problem since yesterday with my browser. When I'm e.g. go onto a YouTube-Video then there is sometimes a part of the title marked a as a Hyper-Link. When i click onto it it opens up a new Tab with Yahoo serach and the word marked with a Hyper-Link. I realized the same on other websites and it's anoying. I got another problem, that when i search something in the URL-line it shows up that it searched with Google for a second then it redirects me to Yahoo. When i go back one page im back on Google. And the last thing is when i e.g. R-Click onto a YouTube-Video i normaly want to "open in new tab" but it opens up automatically in a new tab and on the tab where i R-Click, ad popped up with ad for games and pornographic Websites. I've used AdwCleaner btw. Someone had simular Virus and knows how to fix it? I don't want to completely reset my computer cause I probably gona forget to safe important data. Hey everyone, over the weekends my friends came over and downloaded some weird things on my laptop and now whenever i google something on Chrome, it will say waiting for loadstart.biz. The strange thing is that it brings me directly to google. Is it tracking my data? And how should I remove it? I tried using adwcleaner, hitmanpro and mcafee internet security but none of them detected anything. I even reinstalled chrome, checked my installed programs and the registry but found nothing. Can anyone please help me?

I have a search engine that has installed itself in Chrome called chromesearch.today that is impossible to remove. I have tried getting rid of every single Chrome-related file, as well as the registry key for it using Malware Bytes, yet it is still there. I have checked the Chrome shortcut target, which is default, so no issue there. Have googled possible solutions and nothing so far has worked. I have little experience removing these sorts of things, and would really appreciate some help. Thanks

So here's the deal: Got an "old" laptop (Sony VAIO Duo 13) from my father a coupe days ago. It had some Chinese programs installed and I removed them all. Went on configuring my browsers (Microsoft edge, Chrome) and removed baidu.com from settings and added some sites to favorites. After restating browser every time baidu.com resets changes search engine, browser settings, and startup tabs to baidu.com. I tried removing "spigot" folder and used CCleaner but still doesn't work. Plz help. It annoying to type addresses and passwords every time.

I'm trying to do something on my work portal and when I navigate to a page it says: "To view this page ensure that Adobe Flash Player version 13.0.0 or greater is installed." Chrome has it's own Flash Player but I installed Adobe Flash Player anyway. I still get the same message. I googled around and there are a lot of random "fixes" for this problem. I tried a few with no success (disabling/enabling various settings in Chrome, changing browser etc.) Not sure what's going on here. Cheers for your help.

Hello everyone, the mission is quite straight forward. I want to know which web browser LinusTechTipsForums users do prefer. Motive: I always thought Chrome had the best performance out there untill i saw my benchmarks in Peacekeeper... (i know it's no longer supported but it's a fine feature test available online). I leave here my benchmarks: (6564=Waterfox 50; 6111=Vainilla Firefox 50; 4360=UCBrowser 50 with GPU Flags forced ON; 4319=Vainilla UCBrowser 50) A quick search in google showed me a lot of people changing to Edge for its VP9 hw decoding and a lot of people using firefox as daily driver which surprised me a lot... hence this poll Link to Peacekeeper benchmarks You can run your bench and post your results & rig if you wish... My rig: 5820K@4.0 1070 Strix @1.9Ghz(ish) 16GB Ram (2400Mhz) quad channel. 30MB UP/Down WAN speeds. And Sandisk SSD Plus 240GB for OS and browser installation/cache folder. This info will be used for tunning web apps in development, the show who voted what is just to create a faithful compromise in the answer, which may not work... but hey you can't avoid internet trolls, death and taxes. I did a quick search in this forum for this exact question and returned nothing, if this is a "repost" please link to the post so i can relate it to Thanks in advanced!
