Hi, I am having problems with windows 10 on my Dell laptop. After an upgrade from Windows 7. My brightness is stuck at 100% even when windows says it's at 0% I've tried updating drivers, reinstalling drivers, and updating windows. My specs are Dell Inspiron 5547 Core i5 4210u Intel HD graphics 8GB ram Windows 7 worked fine and the SSD I put in my laptop was in an AMD desktop before.

Hello everyone, Recently I updated the driver of the integrated "HD 630" graphics card. However, since that update, at least so it seems to me, the display keeps changing the brightness and contrast based on the displayed image: -on white web pages, the brightness increases and the contrast turns to "normal" -if then a dark picture appears, (or simply a dark background - for example the desktop wallpaper or a youtube video) the brightness decreases (it seems as if the brightness is changing from something like 75% to 25%) and the contrast changes so that the image is (slightly) oversaturated. I did some research, tried some solutions, but nothing helped. I tried: -disabling adaptive brightness in the advanced energy saving options of the control panel -disabling the "display energy saving" option in the Intel graphics control panel -reinstalling the driver This "feature" is quite annoying since it's very noticeable (it takes about 2 sec until it begins to adjust brightness/contrast), so if anyone has an idea of how to solve this issue, I would be grateful. Best regards, Matthias Here some information that could be useful: CPU: i7-7700HQ GPU: Intel HD Graphics 630 Laptop: 17,3" Cosmos VI (PcSpecialist)

I recently bought a new acer swift 3 laptop and when I first tried it out, I attempted to change the brightness only to find that the shortcut (fn + left/right arrow) didn't work. I discovered this was a software problem as all other functions work correctly and I cannot even change my brightness by sing the windows slider, as it is greyed out and stuck at 0%. I have tried updating both the display and display adapter drivers through device manager but both are up to date. The system specs are: CPU: i5-7200U with HD Graphics 620 RAM: 8GB 256GB SSD

I have auto-brightness turned off in settings, but my iPhone 6s still randomly shifts the brightness, whats weird is that the brightness only shifts on the display, and not in the settings. (Brightness will still be set to full, visible brightness will shift down). Does anyone know how I could fix this, thankyou!

Hey all! I'm looking for a cheap high brightness monitor. With all this 'stuff' going on i'm forced to work from home. I really love to be outside on my terrace (and kind of my best option if i don't want to be disturbed), but i miss my triple monitor setup, because none of my monitors are bright enough, even in shade. My 2019 15" Macbook Pro seems to be bright enough (just barely though, it's around 500Nits i think). Don't need HDR, 4k would be nice, but i can live with lower resolution. Any recommendations are welcome!

I have an ASUS ROG G751JL. When i bought the laptop, I installed an SSD and wiped windows 10 to move it to said SSD. Since then, I haven't been able to use any sort of option that changes the brightness of the screen and no internet option I have found (updating drivers, disabling hardware, reinstalling drivers, etc.) has worked. This is slightly inconvinient as when im working away from a power source, it kills my battery that much faster so if I could get some help that would be great.

I recently replaced the ancient EVGA GeForce GTX 570 HD in my personal rig with an EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 SuperClocked. The new card doesn't support VGA in the sense that the DVI port has pins for analog output, so I had to buy a cheap DisplayPort to VGA adapter. I noticed right away the blacks were too black, despite my monitor having brightness maxed out (at 100) out of the box with the contrast at the default of 75, which worked perfectly with the old 570. The card recognizes the monitor to be plugged via DVI, according to Nvidia Control Panel. It shows two DVI outputs despite there physically being only one, though I am led to believe that is how DisplayPort works with adapters. Unfortunately this "too dark" issue haunts me in the desktop, I mention that because I'm well aware I can "fix" this in game by sliding the brightness setting up or something along those lines, but let's remember that brightness control only works in fullscreen games. So instead of fiddling around with color management, what are some ways I can fix my "very deep blacks to the point where I can't distinguish different shades of dark grey" issue? Don't question why I'm using VGA instead of HDMI, despite my monitor clearly having HDMI ports. I have my reasons.

I'm looking for a 1080p monitor, around 100-130$, but I'm not sure about a couple of things: 1) Will there be noticeable difference between 1ms and 5ms response time? 2) Are 60Hz enough for gaming? (not competitive or esports or anything, just smooth, enjoyable gameplay in all games) 3) What level of brightness is considered ok for a monitor? That last one is because I came across the Asus VP228TE which is relatively cheap and looks great, with 1ms response time and everything, but its brightness is 200cd/m², while other monitors have a brightness up to 300-400cd/m². Will it be seriously dim? Thanks a lot!

Hi guys, Hardware: Samsung 7 series laptop OS: Windows 10 Problem: Recently a windows 10 update broke my brightness hotkeys on my laptop. I used to be able to press fn+f2/f3 to adjust my brightness, but no longer! It is not that the function key is broken, the fn+f6/f7 still let me control the volume, and f2/f3 still work normally on their own. I still want the brightness functionality bound to those keys, I'm not here for advice on this issue!!! I have tried lots of fixes, drivers, updates, bios changes. Nothing works. I have given up fixing the root of the problem and just want a hack job to regain the functionality. I'm computer literate, so a registry change or hotkey macro thing would be great. Thanks, Rob!

Hi, I just picked up a laptop from someone on craigslist a few days ago, and everything seems to be running okay, the only problem being the screen brightness seems to automatically adjust on me and I can not figure out why. The screen doesn't seem to get too bright to begin with, but it's bearable indoors. I believe the model of the laptop is a Inspiron 5423 and it seems like this is a known issue with these laptops in the past, but the fix was to go into the dell battery application and turn a setting off. I have a fresh windows 10 installation on here and no dell applications at all, and would prefer not to install one if I can, though if it will fix my issue I wouldn't be too apposed to it... I have tried going into the power saving settings and playing with those settings, but it still appears to be an issue. I haven't tested this plugged in, but I was reading it was an issue regardless of being on battery or plugged in. The issue is a darker screen gets dimmed, and it makes it hard to read. When working inside text editors doing web development I prefer a dark theme like Atom's "one dark" syntax theme that comes with the editor. But when I switch from the browser to Atom, (from white to black basically) the screen dims down, and I can barely read the text. If anyone knows of a fix or can help me troubleshoot this, that'd be very much appreciated. It is pretty irritating regardless of only paying $110 for the laptop lol.

Alright so I have two Lg monitors and when I set them up the firs time the brightness was off. I managed to fix it by setting them both to the same settings, however now for no apparent reason the brightness is off again. and they are on the same settings but one is still dimmer than the other. They are both Lg 24M47VQ 24 inch monitors. i also noticed this strange "wave" effect on the dimmer screen. I say wave but it doesnt move though. I'll attach a picture. Thank for the help!

Hey everyone! Here's a question for you. I just hooked up my TV again to my computer using a DVI to HDMI adapter. I was watching a movie on my usual monitor (Samsung S24D590L) and after a few minutes, decided to kick back. So I pushed the movie over to my TV. That's when I noticed something. On the TV, the colours looked so much more vibrant than on the monitor. At equal distances, the TV wins hands down colour wise. Option for option, both screens are practically identical setting wise (If anything the Samsung should be better due to being calibrated through Windows) The screen options I use on my TV are as follows: Contrast 50 Brightness 10 (some seriously strong lighting, flat screen LCD with cathodes ~2007) Colour 50 Tint 50 Sharpness Normal Colour Temp Normal DNR Normal Usual monitor specs: Samsung S24D590L 23.8" screen - 1080p ~3 foot away PLS Panel TV Specs Generic TV from Tesco (Technika) 22" Screen - 1050p (scaled to 1080p) ~4 foot away (Wall mounted) Unknown Panel Is there any reason for this (The question is the title). I'm just curious. Thanks! Update: Fixed grammar in the title

I have south facing room with floor to ceiling windows and sliding doors across the whole side of the ground floor. The only thing is, that room is the only one available for the family computer room (it also doubles as a 2nd TV). While it sometimes gets direct light, during the day the amount of indirect ambient light is enough to render our current 25.5" 1920X1200 monitor useless as the picture is basically invisible. (Oh, and blinds are shall we say impractical.) So I am looking for a 1080p monitor of around 24" that's got really good brightness and contrast (when I've searched before the only ones that came up cost several thousand pounds more than the worth of the PC it would be hooked up to. I'm looking for something more in the sub-£300 range, with good viewing angles and general picture quality. Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks.

fn + f5/f6(brightness function key for this model) won't change the brightness! Not even the one at Battery Icon->Adjust Screen Brightness->Slider won't do! Help D: I type gently even though my WPM is 140ish and I'm very sure it's not the keyboard's fault since whenever I use the fn + f5/f6, the brightness slider will appear on the upper left but won't move. I tried using the mouse when it appears and slide it but the brightness won't still change. Help :I currently stuck with the lowest brightness, which I prefer, but when I play CS:GO, I'd like to increase the brightness but I can't do it anymore D: This model is the one with the AMD A10-5750M w/ Radeon HD 8670M + 8650G. I tried using the CCC's setting to change the brightness but that's a different story, not the kind of brightness I was expecting :I

hey guys. I have a Acer Aspire 6935g, which i have installed Windows 8 on, and yes i know that my Laptop doesn't have support for windows 8(drivers) My problem is that, i cant control my brightness level, i can see the brightness box come up in windows 8, but it does not affect my brightness level. I have tried to do some research, and has downloaded programs, that can control the brightness, but they just make the screen look washed out. BTW. Screen brightness level did work in windows 7. :-)

Hello everyone, I'm planning to buy some lights to put in my case, but I have a few questions: 1. Wich one is brighter? The "tube's" or the LED light's? 2. Are the tube's very fragile? (the colour I'm planning to buy is blue) What I mean with light tube's: http://tinyurl.com/kgysjjb

I just got the Fit 14A (Or Flip) and the brightness almost sent me over the edge. I can't control it at all! The brightness control will just set your "Preference" brightness. And it will do the rest. I usually like the auto brightness on these things, but this one us really annoying. It's usually too dark, and making it hard to see. And then at night, i have the brightness down. And it will turn up for no reason! I have tried the Sony forums. The only fix is in the VAIO control center. But (For some reason) i do not have that option. The "Turn Auto-Brightness off" switch is just not there. I will attach a screen shot. Anyone else know another way? Because this is crazy! Is it a windows setting, intel setting, or Sony setting. The snip has the model also.

So I have an Asus VG248QE and when I first boot up my PC the background looks fine and the way it's supposed to look. It is a dark background and has very sharp colors. Here is the background so you can get an idea: http://www.walldime.com/static/wallpaper/1920x1080/hd-wallpapers-evga-wallpaper-colors-bigb-town-mac-1920x1080-wallpaper.jpg But after a few moments my monitor gets brighter (probably because of the dark wallpaper) and then it looks sh*tty. I have a Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 graphics card. I am letting you guys know this just in case it has to do with something in Catalyst. If anyone knows where I can turn off "auto-brightness" in the settings for the monitor or Catalyst, let me know. Any information is much appreciated!

I have a Sony Vaio Y but after doing a clean install of Windows 8 64 bit, I cannot adjust brightness of the screen at all. It is pinned at 100%. My guess it is the incompatibility between the original Windows 7 32 bit drivers and Windows 8 64 bit. Any help would be appreciated.
