My relevant parts are: 2x 8GB HyperX Fury DDR4 RAM, 2x MSI GamingX 1070’s (SLIHB Bridge), MSI Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon motherboard, Intel i7 8700k Samsung 950 Pro 512GB M.2 NVME Drive 850w Corsair PSU I’ve been having this strange issue with my pc now for a little while. I’ll be switching from my pc monitor to my 4K tv every now and then when I play controller friendly games or watch movies. Nothing strange or weird happens when the pc is on, but when I shut it down for the evening and return to it the day after, it refuses to post. This doesn’t happen every time, but it seems to only happen when output signals are switched before a shutdown. I’ll press the power button, the PSU will give a startup click, but nothing will happen for 2 seconds ish (usually the pc fans and all start from the press). then the fans will spin normally, but the pc won’t boot or post. Pc lights will light up, except the SLI HB bridge. On the motherboard the “CPU” light lights up to indicate a cpu related issue. Now, I’ve tried to troubleshoot this quite a lot. I’ve tried only one GPU, no GPU, one stick of RAM, different slots with the RAM, reseat the CPU, adjusting mounting pressure on motherboard (I even replaced my dark rock pro 3 because I thought it might’ve been too heavy on the MB), reset CMOS, remove BIOS battery, cycle power. Nothing works. But then I’ll leave frustrated, and when I try again it will randomly boot without any issues again ?? I don’t know what to do, this is the third or fourth time it pulls this schtick, and I cannot for the life of me find a consistent way of fixing the issue. I don’t know if it is a bios related issue or HW, but it’s weird. Anyone have any ideas of what this can be? And any clever tricks for getting her to work again? This is torture. Help me guys ? I just want to play Destiny

After a quick dust removal service, everytime I try turn it on, it opens up on Asus UEFI BIOS Utility. Being a noob in this domain, I have no ideea how to boot in Windows. If you look at the pic below, I've set the boot priority on the SSD, on which Windows was installed. Anything I am missing ? EDIT: Just realized it recognizes my dvd drive instead of my Kingston SSD. Should I remove the dvd drive and start and see if it takes my SSD instead ?

Hi guys, I am about to acquire an Optane Module 32gb. As W10 64bits requires 20gb available, do I have everything to win by installing windows on my Optane module? Bests, Guillaume

Weird Boot bug+ windows update gives D6
FlexedBunny posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hi guys, So I seem to have a weird problem. Everytime I boot my pc I have to go into the bios to manually boot my windows m.2 drive. I have put it as priority number 1 so that isnt the problem. I have also updated my BIOS incase that wouldve been the problem. But none if it fixed it. I even went as far as reseting the CMOS. But none of it seemed to work. At this point I got tired of it and just started booting manually. But I mean its not supposed to work like that. Its an entire new pc and it should just work normally! I also thought it gave me a problem with my GPU. This for the reason that yesterday I updated windows and that caused a d6 error that had me reset the CMOS again. On a weird way everytime I seem to update windows it gives me a D6 error and I have to reset my CMOS again. Im using a asus strix z490e motherboard and a i9-10900k As gpu im still using a 1080 (F for my 3080 that is yet to be shipped) If more info is needed feel free to ask!- 1 reply

The title may seem confusing, but, here's what I mean really. I've been running my PC for about 2 years now. Ryzen 5 1600 With Asrock B350m Pro4 and 600W PSU I've been using it daily for gaming and I overclocked it when I first had bought it and it stayed stable at 3.8Ghz at 1.250 V. I use the PC all night ish and then turn it off and turn it on the next evening. Hasn't been an issue ever. But, Now in the recent months my PC has been acting weirdly. It sometimes freezes/Black screen and restarts(Mostly whilst Alt-Tabbing I noticed). With OC applied. And now when i turn off my pc, the next day it wont boot. My headphones only light up when connected, but other than that no sign of life. After Clearing CMOS it starts up again, and I apply my OC, and it seems to run just fine. I replaced my CMOS battery twice in a month to ensure. Then I found that My PC only can boot if I start it within 2~4 hours off turning it off when The OC settings applied. After Resetting BIOS to defaults then turning my PC off. My PC now boots normally, when ever I want. Turned on after 2 days and booted fine. If OC was applied and i turned it off in that state, I might've needed a CMOS reset again. What has gone wrong? I know a bit but not nearly enough to diagnose the issue here. Any help would be much appreciated as I still have Warranty left.

Hey! So I have a bit of an older setup which is: 4960x @ 4.5 p9x79 ws/ipmi 32gb ram @ 2300 (I think, I'll double check) gtx1080 hybrid Silent Pro M2 850W The cpu, ram, and motherboard came from an old high frequency trading server. It was a good deal (I think 350 cad last year), and while I was expecting issues down the road I don't quite know whats causing it. I can boot the computer, and it will very rarely give a bios code or display. Meanwhile, if I boot the computer and flick the power on the PSU on and off via the switch it will do a reboot and boot into windows fine. Its not the best solution so I was curious if you guys could help me out at all I tried using one stick of ram, using a different GPU, I went through OS reset (got a new SSD) , the one thing that I would like to test would be a different power supply but I'd like other peoples opinions before I buy a new one since I don't wanna waste 80 buckeroos on a psu thats just gonna sit around. Thanks ahead of time! I got reccomended to unplug the 6 pin plug to the GPU and then plug it back in and see if it works and, that works and will be fine until I do a complete shut down (turning off computer and then switching the psu off, unplugging it and holding the power button). Occasionally, the computer will also just randomly reboot and when it boots up its fine. Thanks for the help ahead of time

So I have been having trouble booting into windows and I have tried scouring the forums for a hint of what my problem may be to no avail. Hopefully one of you guys will have some ideas. So when I start my desktop I usually can get into windows no problem, but on ocassion I wont be able to boot into windows. It will show a blinking dash and just stay there. The only way I have found to fix this is simply restarting and going into bios and changing my bios settings to UEFI default, even if they are already on the default settings. This usually fixes the problem. This is not an ideal solution though and I haven't been able to figure out the cause. Maybe it is just the motherboard itself though. My motherboard is the the ASRock X370 Pro 4 with a 2700x and a gtx 1060 6gb.

Hello! Some time ago, I used a bad software to resize my partition and windows got corrupted. No biggie, I pulled valuable data from the SSD and proceeded to install new OS. After choosing language and that kind of stuff, the PC shut down after some time and gave me some options. I tried all of them, but none worked, so I loaded a Flash Drive with Dban and wiped the SSD. Thinking this would help, I started installing windows, but it did the same thing. I have no idea how to fix this, if you have any thoughts, please let me know. Thanks for reading!

Hello guys, Im just doing some cleaning, and find my (kinda old) laptop AsusPro. So i try to boot it but nothing happen. I tried changing hdd, cmos battery and ram for a working one and now i can hear hdd disk whirling sound and the fans are blowing gentle but it still blank screen even if im waiting for couple of minutes. I dont have a spare screen, so i can't check to make sure that it wasn't broken. Also it didn't make any beeping noise so i can't really find the problem myself Is my motherboard broken ? or maybe my cpu cease to function ? sorry for my bad english btw Specs Brand : AsusPro P2420L CPU : I7 xxxx (idk the series because i forgot about it) Ram : 4 GB GPU : Integrated Nvidia GEForce 920M Memory : HDD Windows : Win 7 Home Edition (Came from the box) note : I'll attach some picture for reference Thanks in advance

I had this problem previously when the pc did not have any power for about half a day or something like that. The fix that always worked then was reinserting ram a few times. It's doesn't seem to do the magic n I have been trying for about 2 days now. All the fans and lights are working. I'm not hearing the single beep in startup which I used to previously. Can anyone help me solve this issue? Thank you. What I tried. Switching Ram slots Trying a different Ram Reinserting GPU Changing SATA slots Removing CMOS battery for a few mins Removed dual monitors Tried with VGA and HDMI Anomalies observed. My mobo doesn't seem to have the CMOS jumper cap. And also my pc has a 2 pin CMOS jumper My specs. MSI 970-g43 GTX 960 gaming edition 8 gigs Corsair 1600MHz AMD FX 8350 Dual monitors What I can't do for the next few days. Try my current components in other PC's.

How do you specifically download windows 10? I've seen a lot of guides online on how to do it but I just wanted to clarify on the step where people go to the Microsoft website on another PC and click on the "create the download media creation tool" and then do some other stuff where they accept the terms and conditions and settings but would I need windows 10 on my USB drive before I do this step? FYI: I have windows 10 on my USB, not sure if it's reliable and legit but wanted to know how to activate the actual windows.

I recently got a shuttle pc for fairly cheap (I was looking for a itx but this was the next best thing) and I haven't had any problems with it until now. I bought a 4tb Western Digital HDD and installed it. The PC refused to boot past the American Megatrends bios splash screen just before the options to boot into bios and such show up. I tried switching which sata port it was plugged into and then it booted. However, i bought some 12v leds and wired them up to a sata power plug (Correctly as i've done this type of thing many times before) and the PC went back to not booting. Now no matter what it will not boot with more then one Sata device plugged in. The PC model number is SH67H3. CPU: i5 3470 RAM: 16GB DDR3 GPU: ASUS GTX 960 PSU: 300W Shuttle Branded PSU 80 PLUS GOLD

Hello all, Long time no post. I seem to be having an issue with my motherboard. By the title of the topic I have an Asus Maxiumus IX Hero motherboard that seems to not be booting from the UEFI like it was supposed to. I've looked on other forums and seen people have the same issue, just not on this board so I am getting pretty frustrated. The build includes the above MB, corsair vengence lpx ddr4 8gb *2, EVGA PSU, MSI gaming Z 1070, corsair MP500 M.2 SSD, and a Kraken x64 280mm liquid cooler. I am in the process of talking with ASUS customer support but so far they have yet to be helpful. I've tried to clear the CMOS, and a few other things. The computer boots into windows just fine it just does the legacy boot thing which I am pretty sure is not the way it should be. Anyway thanks in advance for the help.

Hey there fellas. I've got a server that runs here at home that I use for network backups and whatnot. Its a pretty basic build, it has 2 7200 Seagate drives, an Athlon 2 X4 640 (OC'd to 3.7ghz), onboard graphics, and 8gb of DDR3. I've got a 450 watt Thermaltake PSU that came with an old case a few years ago, that would work fine, but for some reason it just can't power the 2 drives at once. Running a single drive it does fine. I've also got a Corsair CX500W that can power everything just fine, and once booted is flawless. However, whenever I do a full power down and try to boot back up it becomes a nightmare. Everything in the PC powers on, fans, lights, HDD's, etc. but there will be no video and the motherboard doesn't beep. The other day I just ripped the power cord out of the back, plugged it back in, and it booted and ran for several days. Once again today I'm having the same issue, and that "solution" doesn't work. The Thermaltake PSU will boot just fine (with one HDD) but the Corsair will not. Currently I have the Corsair powering just the hard drives while the Thermaltake handles the CPU and motherboard and its running without issue. Anyone knows whats going on here? Thanks!

Hello everybody, I'm here because of an issue that's never happened to me before and I don't see many people having the exact same one. Ok, first things first... I was normally using my computer to do some work on the web this morning, everything was working perfectly fine just like this whole month. I turned it off, since i had to go. I just came back home, so i come to turh on my pc, all ok, but, I keep looking at my screen for a minute or more and it's stuck in the BIOS/Mobo boot screen, the one it goes through everytime i turn it on. (See picture attached) So, since it was stuck, and pressing any button did nothing, i just did the typical holding for like some seconds turning ofd because nothing's responsive. Ok, i turn it back on again... it's still stuck and no response frok any buttons. And i tried turning off the psu and turning it on again, and still the same thing. My computer specs are: Core i5-6600K 16GB DDR4 3000Mhz (Corsair- 2x8GB) Asus Z170 Deluxe Zotac GTX 980 Ti AMP! Extreme Samsung 950 Pro M.2 SSD (boot/OS drive) WD 6TB Black EVGA Supernova 850W G2 80+ Gold If there's any more info needed, tell me. Thanks, Tommy.

Hey everyone, so i'm having issues with my current x299 build and i'm not sure whats the problem. At the moment im testing out all of the hardware to make sure everything works before putting it on my pc case. Everytime I turn on the power supply and hit the motherboard on button the AIO fan would move .1 inches before stopping along with making a ting noise. The lights on the motherboard would stay on but besides that it doesn't post at all. I posted a video showing my build and my current issue. Here is all of the build specs. Build specs: -Power Supply: Corsair AX860 -Graphic Card: EVGA 780 -Motherboard: Asus X299-Prime-A -RAM: G.skill Trident Z 32gb DDR4 3600 -SSD: Samsung 840 Evo -CPU: Intel i9 7900X -CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken x72 Video Source: Here is a link to the video of my build, In it I break down all of the hardware that I'm using for this build along with all of the connections I made so far. If you can help me in any way people leave a comment down below!

Hey guys, I recently build a pretty cheap pc out of an old dell pc with a q6600, replacing the psu, drives, and gpu with better ones. I ended up installing w10 on it and left it for a couple of weeks, but now when I start it up I'm getting no video signal. Thanks in advance!

System Configuration: Motherboard: Asus Prime B350-Plus bios version 1002 CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 Memory: 16GB DDR4-3000 G.Skill F4-3000C16D-16GTZR GPU: Palit GTX 1060 3GB VBIOS: 86.06.11.00.48 Driver: Geforce 388.16 OS: Windows 10 x64 (16299.125) Ok I'll give a quick run up timeline wise until the problem started. Built the rig about two months ago and upon first boot DOCP would not work. No problem updated to bios version 1002 which addressed all the past problem with DDR4 compatibility. After flashing the bios the docp profile loaded up just fine and I had the Ryzen oc'ed to 3.7 and everything was stable after running some stress tests. Fast foward to yesterday. For reasons I wanted to turn off SMT to check performance on an application without the use of virtual threads. So I go into bios and disable smt and go to reboot. I got the dreaded triple flash on the keyboard lights (num lock, caps, scroll lock) and the system posted into safe mode. Uh oh I thought I guess turning off SMT isn't going to work so I go back in and enable it and reset again. Still flashing lights and posting back to safe mode. I'm panicking now so I restore the entire bios to optimized defaults. System boots up fine. I immediately open up cpu-z, gpu-z, hwinfo64 to run a check on all the numbers. It all looks good. So I reboot again into bios and set the exact same Ryzen OC and RAM DOCP settings I had before. Triple flash again. Fast forward 3 hours of me turning off and on settings to see what will post. Finally I narrowed it down to the ram. The system will post with any OC on the ryzen I enter but the RAM HAS TO BE set to auto to post @ 2133 with the non-oc timings of 15-16-16-16-36 1T. So I thought ok well I've read docp doesn't work for everyone and I'll just manually enter the xmp profile settings. Nothing worked. Then I did another simpler test to see what's going on so I defaulted all the ram timings to auto to wipe all my changes, did a reboot to make sure it does boot. Got into windows fine. Verified the default 15-16-16-16-36 1T timings and went back into bios and changed only one thing, manually set CL to 15 instead of having auto. This SHOULD work since that's what's been posting and verified in windows. NO POST, triple flash. Go back to bios and changed cL15--> auto. posts again just fine. So essentially what I've discovered is that if I manually enter ANY value into DRAM Timings, the system will not post even if the timing is what auto would have selected. Does anyone have any idea wtf is going on with my system?

Hello guys, My friend has a new custom built pc - x299 mk2 motherboard new intel i5 x series CPU two 4GB RAM sticks Corsair 750W PSU Both him and i built the pc, taking necessary precautions for static etc. For some reason there is no video signal to the Monitor - 4 LED's at the top to indicate system status (second one is orange and its on (DIMM)) The RAM was taken out and placed back in as well as other components but the issue is not resolved - the system keeps rebooting/turning off. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
