Hi everyone! My issue is basically boot-loop, it first started when my PC was running normally on a fine morning, I started some game and I had discord connected, everything is OK. after a few minutes, the monitors went off but the system was still running and I was hearing discord channel people talking until 5 sec and then stopped, and boot-loop never stops. What I tried: 1. Replaced the PSU (power-supply) didn't make a difference, my PSU was totally fine, unfortunately. 2. Removed 2 RAM's (and used one on each slot to make sure if its functioning) same boot-loop, (chances of them being both dead? I don't know) 3. Removed the entire GPU, didn't make a difference. 4. Reset BIOS for sure, I don't remember that I overclocked anything except GPU. I left the PC for months on dust, I thought maybe its either the Processor or the Motherboard is the issue, If so, how can I tell if the issue is in one of them? How is it boot-looping Sometimes on first boot, it holds running to 4-6 seconds, then stops for a seconds, then boot-loops to nearly 3 seconds on same timing. And nothing goes on the screen, I think it even doesn't gives a signal to the monitor that the PC is on. I literally left the PC on dust and gave up, please help.. Thanks.

Soooo I just made my first computer. Yay! Side note; I used a hdd from an old computer with Windows Vista on it So anyway I made the computer and attempted to boot off of a flash drive for Windows 10, but even after I changed the boot order on the Bios it continues to boot off of the old hdd that is wiped and acts as if I still have Windows Vista on it. Says registry file is missing, or corrupt Just want to boot windows 10 off the usb Parts List: Motherboard: GIGABYTE H110M-A Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8gb 2400 something or other CPU: i3-6100 HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1tb and seagate barracuda 1.5tb Both from Windows Vista pc's

i have a 2010 mac pro with a sonnet Tempo SSD card. when i use this i get much better speeds because of the sata 2 limitations that the motherboard has, but when i install this card and use it the mac detects it as an external drive but the worst part is when i hold alt at boot it wont show the boot drives anymore only the mouse pointer and a white screen. So if someone could help with this issue that would be nice so i can dual boot back to linux and windows. Also a bonus if you could help with the drive showing as internal. Already a big thanks

Hello! I have a problem with my PC booting up.. It boots up okey, then hits the Bios screen where it kinda freezes, thinks (?) for like 20-25 seconds / Nothing works at that moment, I can't access the BIOs or anything / and then boots up like normal. I do have an SSD and it has never done that prior to last week. Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?

Hello everyone, This is the first time I am building a system. I decided to buy the following parts for it: -Intel i7 6700k -Gigabyte Z170X-UD5 -Corsair Hydro Series H100i v2 -Corsair RM 650x -Gigabyte 980 Ti Windforce -Ballistix Sport LT 16GB -Corsair Carbide 300R -Samsung 850 Evo SSD I wired up everything, and I made 100% sure of doing it right. After doing so, the only thing it does is starts up for a few seconds (no more than 5) and then it shuts back off. It keeps doing this until I manually switch off the PSU. I am attaching the pictures of how I wired up my build with no GPU installed. I'd rather get this going before installing the GPU on the motherboard. Could you please help me in diagnosing what I did wrong or what could be the cause of my computer not booting? Video of computer (please ignore the constant annoying sound in the background... it is my air conditioner): Pictures: (I think that I unplugged the CPU cooler to try to see if it was the cause in the photos, but it still behaves the exact same way...) https://postimg.org/image/wntcqqwu1/ https://postimg.org/image/dwrfgl29l/ https://postimg.org/image/530izhfax/ https://postimg.org/image/6w3fnt0hl/ https://postimg.org/image/edcn30q0p/ https://postimg.org/image/inraylv3t/ https://postimg.org/image/jrbfakfqx/ Could you help me please? Many many MANY thanks! Cheers!

If this image brings back bad memories... Or you get the "Black screen with a blinking cursor." That means there's a problem with the boot loader on your Windows install. The good news is that this doesn't mean the end of the world for your Windows install! The bad news is you're going to need to get your hands dirty in the command line. And there's also two paths you can take and I'll go through both. Using a Recovery Environment The only requirement is that you have a Windows 10 install disk or USB drive. Microsoft provides a tool to get the ISO so you can either burn it to a disc or make a bootable USB from at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 Now then, this is the best case scenario: you just need to fix the boot loader. Boot into the install media When you get to this screen, select "Repair yourcomputer" Select "Troubleshoot", then "Command Prompt" Then enter in the following: bootrec.exe /fixmbr bootrec.exe /fixboot bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd If this doesn't work, you'll need to create a new partition for the boot loader (Note: If you already have a bootloader partition (it should be a few hundred megabytes), you can skip to step 4). Shut down the computer, unplug all storage drives except the one Windows is on, then power the computer back up. From the last bit, follow until Step 3 then enter in the following: diskpart select disk 0 create partition primary size=200 This should create a small partition list partition Verify a partition of 200MB has been created (this example created a 500MB partition). Note its number select partition 2 Or whatever number the small partition is format fs=ntfs quick assign letter=s active detail partition Verify that "Active: Yes" shows. exit bcdboot C:\Windows /s S: This assumes that C: is the Windows partition. Verify which drive letter the Windows partition really is. If successful, you should get the following: Using another computer If you can install the disk on another Windows computer, it'll be a bit easier to work with. However, this method only creates a new partition. I believe the bootrec.exe option may muck with the computer's boot settings, not yours. Since I'm feeling lazy and I didn't really prepare for this one, I'll just copy this from a page I reference often: Use Disk Management console to create a new primary disk partition from unused disk space for the new System partition. Go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Storage -> Disk Management Use 200MB of free space on an existing partition and shrink the partition. Create the new primary partition, and format using NTFS. Assign the drive letter, S:. Mark the new partition as Active. Right-click on partition S:, and select Mark partition as Active. Use bcdboot.exe to copy the Windows boot files to the new System partition. Execute the following command: Bcdboot D:\Windows /s S:. Bcdboot copies the required boot environment files for your Windows install to the S: partition, and creates a new BCD store to boot your Windows install from the D: partition.

Hello everyone. Let's start off with that I have a gtx 1070 connected to a 1440p 144hz g sync predator monitor over a display port to a display port connection and recently I have encountered a strange issue. What happens is that when I boot up the computer, from time to time, the screen throws up a strange artifact shown in the picture. However the computer boots perfectly fine. If I unplug and replug the same display port I get an image right away or sometimes after a few unplugs and replugs. If I connect it to another display port on the card I get an image immediately. And this issue is hard to replicate. Sometimes occurring after 30-40 restarts if I try to force it. When the issue is fixed I am able to use the connection without any issues. But it bothers me as it seems that something is mulfunctioning. Please help me, as I am completely baffled by this some-what harmless issue.

Hi and thank you for your time for reading this. So I just built a brand new PC and I'm a new builder. Now my PC will boot with one stick of ram not two. I don't know why. It has the latest bios and xmp is on with default settings. But yet it still wont boot with two sticks. Any help is greatly appreciated. Both sticks have been tested on the same dimm slot and both work.

Hello everyone! This is my first post here and I hope someone could help me troubleshot this problem: I have experimented a bit with a ram upgrade for my pc and now it doesnt boot anymore (with the old and new ram). I can access the MSI boot menu though. Edit: Sorry it was my mistake not to mention where my operating systems are stored. I have w7 on the ssd and this was the normal way to boot. Since the problem arose i have installed ubuntu on the HDD. I cannot boot from either. This is my PC: CPU: AMD FX-6300 MoBo: MSI 970A-G43 GPU: Sapphire r9 270x dual-x oc boost SSD: Crucial CT128M4SSD2 HDD: Seagate st1000dm003 RAM: G-Skill F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL What I have tried: I tried the windows starting diagnostics tool thingy (check attachement for what it gives out). Changing back to the old ram and trying to start multiple times. Clearing CMOS and starting the PC. Installing ubuntu on my HDD from a bootable USB stick: This is where it gets weird to me. It booted ubuntu once from my HDD, but not a second time. I have used the option for trying ubuntu from the USB without installing anything and this works everytime. Plus once I am on the USB-ubuntu i can read and write data from the ssd and the hdd. Now I dont have that much experience and I was wondering if someone could tell me what to do next. Thank you everyone!

I built my computer a couple of days ago and everything as far as I know is going very well but when I turn on my computer I goes right to the Bios instead of launching/booting windows automatically. In my Bios under boot priority I have three drives show up (I only have 2 drives in my system an SSD and an HDD) one that reads Windows Boot manager (samsung 850 evo SSD), Samsung evo 850 SSD, and WD 1000...etc. Is this common? Is this an easy fix? Why is there three rather than two drives? Did I install windows correctly or is there something I missed?

I have a MSI X99A GODLIKE Gaming mobo. I recently purchased an m.2 SSD to upgrade from my current 850 evo. I was going to clone the drive, but to my surprise after adding the m.2 SSD my mobo doesn't want to boot. I looked into BIOS boot options and for some reason the drives were switched around. It was trying to boot from one of the other SSDs I use for storage. So I changed the BIOS to boot from the SSD that has my OS on it, than I rebooted again nothing happened. I just get a black screen with no message and a blinking prompt that looks like this _ so I rebooted again. This time I removed the m.2 and the system was able to boot into windows 10. I tried adding the m.2 again and this time when I went to check the bios i noticed that all my drives except one had a ? symbol there as if the BIOS didn't recognize any of them or something. Still I saw my drive with the OS was there as an option, but it still doesn't boot up and just loads the black screen. Sometimes I get a message saying that some changes were made and please go back to setup to select boot options... or something like that. It seems like no matter what I do, the m.2 drive just won't allow my system to boot and I am unable to clone my other SSD onto it. Also, the mobo doesn't support 2 sata connections when m.2 is installed and I made sure that those sata ports were not in use. Nothing seems to be working here... do I have a defective mobo or something? Thank you for any help in advance.

Hello guys, first of all i would like to say, that I am not a native english speaker, so it would help me to let me know if i made any wrong sentece, so i can improve my english. So... I have a problem,my PC is Asus x550vb laptop and I bought an SSD for it ... I put the SSD into a DVD to HDD caddy[which probably causes the probem] because the HDD at this place was unbearably noisy .... And when I turn on the computer, it usually gets me into BIOS, then most of the time I turn off my computer and I turn it on again and then it boots into Windows ... (occasionally it wants to check the disk, but I'm SURE the disk is OK...) I'm sure it's just because I try to boot from the DVD to HDD caddy thing... Does anyone have a tip how to solve this ? It's pretty annoying ... i had an idea to put a wrong option into the boot order to the first place to give some time to the computer to find the SSD and then try to boot from the SSD but I am using UEFI boot and I am unable to chhange the boot order...

Whenever I try to boot I get a black screen even though I have windows installed on the hard drive that is set to boot priority #1. I cant go to boot menu because whenever I exit bio to restart or shut down and then on I get a black screen so I can't go into the boot menu. It seems like I got an old copy of windows because whenever I download it, it's blurry and it is different from downloads I see in videos. I downloaded the latest copy of the windows iso onto my usb and used that. I can get into windows by going into bios and selecting my HDD that has windows on it but if my pc restarts I have to power down and reboot and it says I'm booting in safe mode because apparently it was booting. I am after leaving the computer in the "booting" state for around 8 hours and still nothing happens. When it happens my keyboard and mouse turn off.
