So I've recently been able to build my own computer after saving some cash and buying some second-hand stuff components off my friend. Manage to save some good dollars since he's such a good buddy, haha. Didn't really take pictures during the building process because I was too excited. I just wanted to put everything together so I could quickly get back to gaming. Bought an acrylic sheet and some carbon-fibre pattern vinyl wrap just to make things look more "cool". I know I did a dodgy job but it doesn't really bother me. I'm not much of a perfectionist. It looks good enough for my eyes. Besides, the 200R has no window! Alas, it's what on the inside that counts (what I also say to tolerate my girlfriend). I'll probably look into modding the side panel to fit an acrylic window, but I'd have to mod the front so I can get reasonable airflow (Oh, the effort one must put in). Thinking about removing the entire drive cage and mounting my hard drives onto the bottom of the case; along with some vibration-dampening foam of course. Might buy some U-channel molding to make the routing holes a bit more cleaner and professional. And probably throw in another 760 because I love me the dual graphics card look (won't be for a while because I'm so poor -cries-). Anyway, try to enjoy the few photographs I've included. In case you don't know what they are of, I've included captions. Also, I'm painting the colour of my walls to charcoal soon so don't be hating on the current yellowy goodness. I actually just used my awesome photo editing skills to change the colours of the wall to a greyish colour. Yellow just ruined everything! Seems like the only colours that exist in the photos is like black, grey, white and blue. Specifications: Processor: Intel i7-2600K (4.5 Ghz) CPU cooler: Corsair H70 Motherboard: Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H Memory: 16GB Kingston HyperX Predator 1866Mhz Solid-state drive: Samsung 840 120GB Hard drive: Western Digital Blue 1TB Graphics card: EVGA GTX 760 Superclocked ACX Power supply: Silverstone Strider Plus 850W Case: Corsair 200R I don't know why this is on an angle. I suck at photography. This shows most of the insides of my baby. You can see the black and blue intestines. Also, you can see little trapped spiders breeding (not air bubbles, trust me) inside the right panel. Sorry if you are disturbed from this disturbing image. Closer look into the insides. This picture has no purpose but to make things look bigger. By taking the photograph at a low angle, the computer looks more powerful and dominant. This is also used in movies. The more you know. This is a picture of my memory. It is four sticks of memory. It says Kingston on it. It also says HyperX Predator in a different font. It looks cool. It is also blue but with a big black X-shape on it. The heatsink is also very tall. This says Gigabyte. The shadow above it symbolises south bridge's loneliness in the world. However, light can be identified which represents that there is hope if you believe in yourself. You go, south bridge. This is a close up of a graphics card. It says GEFORCE (LITTLE R IN A CIRCLE) GTX 760. The black and blue intestines are attached to it as they provide glucose which the graphics card uses as a fuel source. The human body also operates this way. When's the last time you replaced the graphics card in your body? New photograph - some people asked for a better shot of the graphics card and the shitty backplate I made, lol. There you go, you silly hoes. (Love all my hoes though). New photograph - even closer look at it. Trust me, it makes the card go faster. Why do you think they use carbon fibre on performance cars? The lighter the card, the quicker!

Recently I have put my old Dell keyboard on the shelf (I used the old one because the keys were hard, loved the loud sound and feel) for a CM Storm QuickFire Rapid (10keyless for easier transportation) and am loving the Cherry MX Blue Switches. I am kind of obsessed at keeping it nice. I use dishwashing soap to wash my hands before I use it so there is no grease. So my question is; how do you guys transport your keyboards? Just throw it in a bag? I was wondering if there is some type of hard cover case for a keyboard that I could buy in order to prevent it from getting damaged. Thanks all! -Hasan

I'm building a new pc. I'm from Europe (Slovenia). I was thinking to spend around 1500€ for the PC. I also need a good monitor for around 200€ - 300€. (In the future I'll be adding another one, for a dual screen configoration, but only 1 will be used for gaming). The PC will be in a red/black color scheme, so I want the parts to match that. It can also be in other matching colors. I'll mainly use the PC for gaming. I would like the system to be upgradable so I can add things in the future. I was planing my setup kinda like this and would like some feedback: (the prices are from local stores in my country) CPU: I5 4670k -260€ CPU Cooling: Corsair H100i 110€ Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VII Ranger 168€ HDD: WD Black 1TB -80€ SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120 GB -90€ PSU: deciding between: Corsair RM 650W -120€ or Corsair CS650M 650W - 90€ RAM: deciding between: Corsair Vengeance 1600 2x8GB - 163€ or Kingston HyperX Fury 1866 2x8GB -180€ GPU: deciding between:Asus DC2 GTX 780 -530€ or ASUS R9 290 -500€ Case: Haven't decided yet. So that is kinda around 1500€ The rest of my budget i will be spending on a good monitor (haven't looked at any yet). Any suggestions for the build and the monitor are welcome.

Hello. I'm currently planning on upgrading some things on and around my desk, such as a printer, monitor etc. This also includes a new mouse + mouspad. I've been looking at some mice keeping aesthetics, price and quality in mind. This mouse is for overall purpose, browsing, some gaming and CAD software (no MMO mice with 15+ buttons). After some searching I've selected the G502 for it's good reviews, premium black look, grippy parts and blue LEDz (yay). Yet is has a price tag of $104 here, so it's in the 'somewhat expensive' category. I came across a somewhat cheaper mouse, the Speedlink Decus. I think this one also has a nice look, programmable LED colour and looks comfortable as well. The price tag hangs around $52, half the G502's price. I was wondering if someone here has had any experience with the Speedlink Decus. If it performs good, it might as well go for that one instead of the G502. It's not that I want the cheapest mouse, I just think that the G502 is a bit expensive. But don't rule it's purchase out, it's still on my wishlist. If I'm convinced that the G502 is worth the extra money, so be it. My second question is about the Razer Goliathus Extended mousepad. I've seen some video's about it, but I can't find the one they have anymore. They were showing a black mousepad with a green Razer logo on the right. The only ones I can find in webshops have a graphic picture of greenish waterdrops or cracked earth. Does anyone know where to get the black one? Thanks in advance, jb

Whenever I turn on my PC, my screen is fine and I see the booting information and such. I can go into the bios or choose where I want to launch, but the problem is that my screen turns black after about 30 seconds. Each time I turn off the computer and turn it back on I have less and less time before the screen goes black again. I have plugged in my tv via the hdmi cable, and the same exact thing happens. There will be no output because my tv screen will change showing that there is no signal. My monitor will do a similar thing where the light will just turn orange, and nothing on screen will be displayed. Also, my keyboard light and mouse light are on, but when I pres buttons such as num lock, caps, or scroll lock none of the lights turn on or off. The num lock light is on during this time. When I press a key on the keyboard, the num lock light blinks and that's all. I'm very certain this is a hardware problem as well because I recently opened my PC and got rid of all the dust in my computer and also applied thermal paste. Anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do?

I have recently been thinking about modding my Logitech G710+ by painting it, as seen in this thread. Instead, I was thinking of trying a matt black finish over the whole of the plastic surround. I have no clue about spray paint, so just wanted to ask if this would be the right stuff to use (Flat Black Matt (C29) option) Has anyone else tried this? Would be very grateful if someone had and could post pictures of the finished keyboard so I could decide if it's a good idea or not? I just thought that it could look nicer without the glossy plastic finish. Thanks

Hey guys, I own a razer mamba 2012 edition and I absolutely love it! I love the wireless functionality, the RGB leds and especially the matte black finish. However, I have been using this more or less every day since christmas last year and slowly darker patches where the fingers sit are appearing, (this is due to sweat and natural oils from the hand as I always wash my hands before using my computer). So, I cleaned my mouse with a very dilute solution of soap and water. This worked really well until I tried to dry the mouse. If you leave the mouse to repel the solution on it's own, smaller dark areas appear around where the fingers would sit on the mouse, and if i tried to wipe off the solution with a tissue or cotton wool pad it leaves very sutle smearing on the mouse. I also tried these two methods by cleaning the mouse with plain water after the soapy water solution but the same problems occurred, with dark patches or smearing. So, what do you guys suggest? A hair dryer maybe? I'm not sure, all I want is for it to look the same way it did when it came in the clear box, on a pedestal in absolutely perfect condition with an even colour (no dark patches). Thanks -Billy

Hey guys. So, I ran into a problem. I recently bought a black Apple Macbook (A1181). I got it for a very good price even though it currently has an issue. The Macbook had an original battery so I decided to replace it as it wasn't charging. Here's the problem: After replacing the battery, it still wouldn't charge it so it is now drained. I already replaced the MagSafe adapter as well as the cable going from the motherboard to the battery with no luck. I also replaced the charger. The light on the charger doesn't actually come on but both charges working when connected to another Macbook. I still have to inspect the motherboard and I might clean it up with some Isoprophyl alcohol. Did anyone experience this before? I have two option. Buy a new motherboard (Too expensive and I'd rather sell the Macbook and buy something else) or buy an external charger for around 60 dollars or so.

So, I'm gonna make my own rig and I'm going to use two Evga GTX titan black's. I want to water cool them and have all I need for the cycle except a waterblock and backplate. I have seen a few on the Internet but none seem to have any reviews so I was wondering if someone could give me a few links to some good ones.

Hey guys i upgraded my system yesterday with another 670 and a noctua NH-D14. I am writing this pretty fast because now i have a problem with my ram, yesterday they where working but now when they ar both inserted the MB make the error 55 which say that there is no ram. I tried both alone firts one and then the other one but they both work alone so i dont know what could it be. Before my second gpu was not attached right so it caused the system to boot up for a second and then it immediately turned off before i could trableshoot the problem, this appened like 4 times, but now its working. Kind of. And my WD Black 1Tb its not working after this "power problem", i removed it but i dont see burned point but if i sniff it it smell like somethings got burned. Please help me, im just cryng right now

Okay, so I get these weird blue dots in my blacks and I don't know what causes it, so I assumed someone here knew as you're all geniuses.

I have been pondering on this for a long time but I am still stumped. I am looking for some specific fans, all must be black, all must look relatively similar, all must be quiet, and all must be under $10. (Except for the 140 which can be up to $15) I need: 1 - 120mm pressure optimized. 3 - 120mm airflow optimized. 1 - 140mm airflow optimized. It is a difficult task, but I couldn't come up with anything on my own.
-
i need 5 fans for my build. i want 2 120mm high pressure ones on the h100i that exhaust air through the top. i want 2 140mm intake fans in the front which provide high airflow because the 780 is exhausting air in my case. and 1 120mm or 140mm exhaust fan in the back. i can put one in the bottom if its needed. i want to overclock my pc and the fans should be black or orange with no LED's. they need to be silent aswell!!! this is the most important thing. i dotn mind the standard fans but they are pretty loud. thanks in advance!

Hello everyone. So I was attempting to setup litecoin mining on my rig, and in the process it told me to download a certain catalyst driver, 13.1, so I did so. When I restarted my computer however, it boots up normally, signs me in (Windows 8.1 BTW) and as soon as it reaches what should be the desktop, it just has a black screen. Its an iluminated black screen however, and I can see my mouse cursor! I can boot into safe mode and it works fine, but when I try and install the new catalyst driver off of a usb (Had to download on laptop) it wont install properly because it needs to download a driver to detect my hardware... I tried using the intigrated gpu by plugging the hdmi into my motherboard (sabertooth z87) and my monitor doesn't detect the input Ive been working at it for awhile and this is getting very frusterating, please help! P.S I tried booting into "safe mode with networking" but it does the same thing that happens when I boot into windows normally, except I cant see the mouse cursor anymore.

First of all, I'm new to linustechtip Forums, so if this topic is ever in the wrong section, my apologies in advance. As the title suggests, my question is, what kind of colour schemes are good for a NZXT Switch 810 (White Version). I've thought of using Red, Black and White, but it seems too "in your face" sort of thing. I would prefer more subtle themes, not ones that scream performance or "Maximum Gaming". Maybe something classy would be a White, Black, and Silver scheme. Although I, because motherboards aren't really all that shiny (chrome like reflective properties) I don't know how to implement this. So, I've come across this build http://cdn.overclock.net/1/1d/1d3a52f0_vbattach232244.jpeg . Colours are subtle, and gives a clean impression. (My opinion is that I tend to think of the colour red relating to power hungry, uncompromising, non-conservative) I will be using a custom water loop in my build and my parts have been decided but are not all final (I have not purchased anything yet) Also, the items that I have not included in this list are the ones I am planning to reuse in this build. PCPartPicker part list: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/2wrZm Price breakdown by merchant: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/2wrZm/by_merchant/ Benchmarks: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/2wrZm/benchmarks/ CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($249.79 @ DirectCanada) CPU Cooler: Corsair H80i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($99.64 @ Newegg Canada) Motherboard: Asus SABERTOOTH Z87 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($259.25 @ Vuugo) Memory: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($179.99 @ Memory Express) Storage: Samsung 840 Pro Series 128GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($139.79 @ DirectCanada) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 4GB Video Card ($409.98 @ Newegg Canada) Case: NZXT Switch 810 (White) ATX Full Tower Case ($169.99 @ Memory Express) Power Supply: Corsair 760W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($143.98 @ Newegg Canada) Total: $1652.41 (Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.) (Generated by PCPartPicker 2014-01-06 00:39 EST-0500) Additional info that may or may not help: I chose the Sabertooth because it was almost all black, which is neutral and will fit with almost any build scheme I chose the Corsair Vengeance Pro for the same reasons I choose the Gigabyte GTX 770 because I'm not sure if I would be water cooling my GPU and so i may just keep the factory cooler. Hope this is enough, Thanks in advance : D

Hi! My system will only contain 2x WD Black 1002 FAEX 1TB 64MB HDDs. I wonder which raid I should set them in, 1 for securing my files or 0 for double the speed(?) and having 2 TB of storage on the "same" drive. Yes I know "you should have an SSD for boot drive and storage for apps etc" but my case doesnt really support that. Sure it got a drive bay or whatever able to contain 6 2.5" drives, but I removed it to make the wiring a ton times easier (curse the cube cases). But seriously, which RAID should I use? Thanks beforehand.

Hi everyone, I just bought an HIS Radeon R9 290 4Gb, and i'm having some issues with it, With the card installed and running at it's default clock (Core & Memory), black screens occur very randomly. I searched on the internet and found a lot of people with the same problem, some claim that it's a software problem (wich I hope is), others claim it's a hardware problem, affecting mainly owners of ELPIDA Memory rather than HYNIX Memory, although reports of cards using HYNIX Memory are having black screen issues too. After a week using it (I cant RMA it, i got it imported from France & I live in Morocco, impossible to find good parts here ), I just learned how to avoid (or try at least) the black screens. The typical problem steps are : - The card is running fine, rebooting after installing Catalyst drivers. - Right after booting the PC, the black screen occurs just when the Windows Desktop is loaded. I Reset. - This time the computer boots, and i'm able to use it for like 5 minutes before it black screens again. No heat issues, the card is not even under load, tested all the outputs (HDMI,DVI,DP), both in Uber mode & Quiet mode. This is what I found to bypass temporarly this problem, until AMD fixes it with some drivers : 1) Underclocking the memory I don't know what the hell is happening in that card in terms of memory, but I found that it's working perfectly stable when scrapping off 100 Mhz from the memory speed using MSI Afterburner. Also, to avoid booting problems, setting "apply overclocking on startup" seems to work so far. 2) Setting a custom fan profile Seriously this card goes from 20° to 95° faster than me running to the toilet after eating spicy KFC. When I monitored the temps it was freaking hot although my case is perfectly cable managed, plenty of airflow there. Found out that the fan is in fact .. Locked to 20%, it doesn't throttle at all. Applying a custom profile in MSI Afterburner resolved the problem, I set the max fan speed at 50%, still tolerable for a jet engine but temps are not getting higher than 70° when the GPU is at full load. Also, I had some problems with an HD7790 driver still lying around that was interfering with the R9, causing Amd CCC not opening, even after using Display Driver Uninstaller, I could not get rid of it so I had to reinstall Windows completely. I played BF4, Need for Speed Rivals on Ultra, Far Cry 3 on Ultra and a few others to stress it out and no black screen happened. No one in this forum seem to have this problem, do anyone have an idea if AMD is gonna release a driver update ?

I am thinking of changing up the storage drives in my PC. Right now I ave two 500GBs, one from a older laptop drive and one WD blue drive. I have an SSD for my boot drive, and now am stuck at trying to decide between WD Black or Green drives. Any recommendations or reason to go wit one over the other?

Project OmegaRed OK! So I finally got all my parts. I build this over the course of about 2.5 hours. The whole idea behind this build was something functional, sleek and a bit sporty. Hence I went with a black and red color scheme. The Corsair 350D fit well with the motherboard size and the other components that are being put into the build. This is my first personal machine build in over a decade so I am pretty psyched up about it. Without further adieu, enjoy!
