I've created my first build last july. Lately it's been giving me this annoying issue. Basically I'm playing some games such as overwatch or gta v and out of nowhere the pc gives me a black screen and restarts with no BSOD or any warning whatsoever. I'm pretty sure this only happens with games and demanding tasks, I've never had this sort of crash while browsing the web yet. I have not overclocked anything. Here's what I've tried so far: Updating the gpu drivers Uninstalling the gpu drivers with DDU and installing a stable version Resetting the BIOS to default settings Clearing the CMOS using the jumper I was thinking about returning both the mobo (which has 2 fried usb ports) and the psu to solve the issue. Do you have any other idea why this is happening or what to do? Thanks in advance

Ok recently I opened a case where I explained that my video signal just cust out, my sound cuts out, but the leds and drives keep spinning and working just fine... But to turn the pc off, I have to either unplug it or flip the switch on the psu... After that it boots just fine... This problem popped up since I upgraded my mobo cpu and ram. I have rmaed these parts in hope it would fix the issue. But it just keeps happening. I have tried every bios version available to me, did some windows config changes and and also reinstalled the graphics driver multiple times. It is just the weirdest problem I have faced with a pc so far. Could it be the psu? And since the gpu and all the drives work just fine with my old pc I am out of ideas. the problem started when i updated my BIOS from F23 to F24 with the help of gigabyte app center. Updating Bios isn't my first time, but updating from F23 to F24 didn't work out for me, it did the usual thing and i didn't turn of the computer while it was updating and i left to update on its own. It usually takes couple restart to update the BIOS but this time, It went into boot loop and didn't boot into windows, it shows the Gigabyte screen and turns back on again and again, I have this problem since yesterday noon, i tried to fix it by jumper to short the CMOS, removed the battery, removed ram, these options didn't work out for me so i decided to go with flashing the old bios version, but when i turned on the desktop in the morning it was able to the gigabyte screen and later decided to go to flash the bios using USB drive, soon i ran out of that option too cause now my monitor is total black and it doesn't show gigabyte screen, there are no beep sounds from the intel Speaker. Motherboard - Gigabyte H110-s2 processor - i5 6500

So lately I've been having a problem where both my screens go fully black at random times, then i see some random pixels with colour, then the programs that were open become white but when closed its all normal. It all happens pretty quickly and I think that something in my pc might be dying. Thanks for helping me. This is not BSOD.

Hi, i have a problem. My i5 8600k when using OCCT Linpack with AVX freezes even on stock, but just a little, like for second or two maximum. I don't know if it is a sign there is something not right with my cpu? When i overclock should i pay atention to even little freezes or just the big ones? I'm getting crazy

I have been looking at some other forum discussing about this problem, but I don't really think it is my power supply. Recently I have just built my new system and everything works fine including 8086k OC to 5GHz. However, no matter if it is stock CPU clock speed, RAM speed, there is no way to avoid black screen when my GPU went over 50% of usage. I have a EVGA SuperNova P2 850w that I bought few days ago with all other components except my 970. I have reinstall my drivers and reapply thermal paste, tried to add voltage or lower my clock speed, but it doesnt seems to be the solution.

I need some help with finding out what the problem is here. When I start my PC everything seems fine untill I get to the lockscreen. everything is displayed normally. Even the lockscreen itself looks normal. But after i type in my password and hit enter i gat a black screen. Windows itself still works i think because when i move the cursor it appears on screen and reacts normally but the screen stays completely black appart from the white cursor (no UI elements, no background, no app icons,...) I still can get to the lockscreen when i prse ctr+alt+del and select "different user" or "log off" but when I try to log in again it still gives me the black screen. Yesterday I logged into a different account and that worked like normal. Then I switched to my account again and it worked fine. today I tried to do the same thing but I got black screens on both accounts. I solved it by rebooting in safe mode and then back again. Now I could log in without any problem, but I don't know what will happen if I restart again and try to log in again. This is the pny geforce 6200 512mb card it doesnt have a fan and i never replaced thermal paste i dont remember and i dont have any all drivers work just crashes after game loads

At random times (sometimes after clicking "continue from save", sometimes 2 hours into the gameplay) my screen would suddenly go black, sound would freeze for a moment and some fans in the computer would turn very loud and at the end my monitor would say no signal. Only a Hard reboot would bring graphics card back. The wierd thing is, the sound would still work and I could talk to people on discord. What makes this problem wierd: Whenever I play, I follow my temps very closely and keep logs of things. My GPU temp would only go as high as 74c at max settings, and CPU as high as 55c. Completely normal right? Fans working fine at 40-45% usually. Voltages to GPU usually 1.05 volts. All normal. I have tried to make the GPU crash using stress tests and benchmarks. Ive ran; Unigine heaven and superposition. Getting good values for my setup, no crashes. I've ran FurMark and Prime95 at the same time for 2 hours and GPU temps never went over 74c and CPU temps over 62c. I've ran Windows Memory Diagnostics and have gotten 0 errors. All other games work fine and the computer can handle every other aspect very well. How can my computer crash on a simple game but have the power to run furmark and prime95 at the same time for hours? One wierd thing; whenever I would click multiplayer mode in the game The Forest, I would hear a very silent russtle. U can't hear it if you don't put your ear near the case. Hasn't happened in any other game. I havn't overclocked any of my stuff, and they're all at their factory speeds. Could the problem be game related, i have tried to reproduce it and I've managed that going to the same spot in the game - meaning it has crashed on the excatly the same spot twice now. Event viewer and what it tells: I've looked at the event viewer when the graphics card crashes. Playing SC2 and alttabbing showed the graphics card crash in the events. It told something along the lines: "The graphics driver went unresponsive and didn't recover". The crash that happens playing The Forest left atleast 100 of these behind: But these erros happened only once, now it leaves no traces behind it. Only the "critical" of Kernel-Power that computer lost power unexpectedly (This is because of my hard reboot right?). What I've read, this would indicate a hardware problerm, wouldn't it? What I've tried: - Updating Bios. - Using most recent graphics driver, and rolling back a patch and using one from march - Unistalling and reinstalling the driver using DDU in the safemode - Checking the PCI express wires to components (though not on PSU side) - Unseating and reseating the ram - Formatting the computer to factory settings - Having the game on both HDD and SSD - Turning settings to as low as possible (Still occurs!) - Taking one of the monitors out of the setup - Running the game as adminstrator - Running Memory Diagnostics - Checking HDD and SSD for fragmentation The logs and what they tell: Since I can't see anything when the crash happened, I followed the logs using GPU-Z. Everything is going fine and all values are completely normal, then suddenly all the graphics card values go to 0. Even the fans! Yet I hear very loud fans when the GPU crash happens. After the crash, the CPU keeps going as normal and it's temps from before the crash dont change one bit (before crash 44c after the crash 42-44). LOOK AT THE ATTACHMENTS FOR THE GPU-Z SENSOR LOG REPORT. Conclusion: If you guys have ran in to the same problem, I would really appreciate the help. Im quite poor student and can't afford many replacement parts. I appreciate it if you made it this far and would take any suggestion! My dell XPS 13 9360 touchscreen won’t turn on the fans start up and the backlighting works but nothing comes on the screen

Okay I haven't done this in a long time. I hope I am placing this in the right place. So here is the problem, I have a lenovo notebook equiped with an intel core i7-5500u and an amd r7 m265 gpu. The laptop has a vga port and an hdmi port. The hdmmi port works just fine but when i connect a monitor via vga the monitor goes all freaky on me. the screen will go black, then turn back on, sometimes it will it will have a static like screem for a second making noise and sometimes that monitor will go into power saving mode. the built in monitor is fine, hdmi is fine and I have tried the monitors in my desktop and the vga monitors work fine. One strange thing I have noticed is that if I play a game the monitor is more likely to stay on. I really don't know if this is a concern or something to do with a dual gpu set up in a notebook. P.S I know this set is not good for gaming. I use this notebook for work and would like to use 2-3 monitors without hasle. Just sayin.

Just got the Asus rog Strix 1060 chucked it into a system that had never had a GPU only igpu and it has never failed me but when I put the card in the system plugged everything in i start the system and after a bit of loading (really low resolution btw) it goes black and after like 30min of waiting for nothing happens so when I boot in safe mode and install the drivers same thing any help also I suck at pc's also using a 6 pin and 2pin instead of 8 pin no power errors tho. SPECS: AMD A10-9700 RADEON R7 8gb don't know what speed ram 64-bit os windows 10 igpu ( or you know if i can get it 2 work 1060 )

Hey everyone! I have an 1 year old Gainward GTX 1080 Golden Sample. After the install of the new NVIDIA driver (398.82) I’ve got some big problem. I’ve been try to solve it for 2 weeks, no luck. My problem is the following: When I open anything (Search bar on Windows 10 tray, Google Chrome etc.) my cursor starts lagging. It moves a bit, then it stops at a place, and a few moments later it jumps to the place, where it should to be, if it moves continuously. Google Chrome opening is also lagging, Sometimes after the laggy cursor comes a few seconds black screen at random intervals with one or more 4101 event (Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.) Then the screen comes back. 2 day ago there were 10 black screen witihin a minute. One time it caused this: Normally it is like this: On the original system I've got this: Things what I did in the last 2 weeks: -run different tests: Prime95 (OK), FurMark (OK), Memtest86+ (OK), Heaven Benchmark (OK) -about 50 clean install with different Windows 10 versions, with full storage format and with the latest firmwares -try 10 different NVIDIA driver (problems are still here with all of them too) -a lot of DDU in safe mode -Core and Memory clock reducing in MSI Afterburner -try hard performance in Windows 10 and NVIDIA Control Panel -ignore DriverSearching in Registry, ignore and stop Windows Update -try it with only NVIDIA driver installed on my PC -try it with different HDMI cable, and with Display Port cable -try it with different display (Sony Smart TV) -try it with 3 different mouse -Windows 7 try: no black screens, but cursor lag is still there -Linux Mint try: no black screens, but cursor lag is still there The problems do not occur when I use the Intel HD 530 integrated GPU. AND: the problems do not occur when I run stress tests, like FurMark and Heaven Benchmark. The GPU’s values are in the normal zone: 43C-67C, avg. 85 fps. How is this possible? The card is dying when I browse, when I click a simple Windows 10 Search Bar or open a browser etc. But it can handle a 10 minutes long FurMark test, without any problem, without any lag or black screen. How? I suspected to hardware problem, but I can’t believe it in the knowledge of these facts. May the PSU (EVGA G3 SuperNova 550W) can’t cause this, because then it should affect the integrated GPU, too. All parts of my PC are about 1 year old. I heard about a secret storage on the newest graphics cards, which can not be cleaned with Windows clean install. It was a thread on the https://forums.geforce.com/ site, but it has already been removed. Maybe that is what it causes my problem? Or what causes these problems? Have you ever experienced something like that?

HELP! my computer just crashed, and when i tried to restart via the restart button, my PC only turns on and only a blank black screen is the result of it. all fans run fine, and sys lights are on. I dont have sys. error numbers, not have any idea that to do. please help

My Lenovo Yoga 3 won't turn on. I tried removing the battery for a few hours, only using the AC adapter, pressing the novo key but no success. The AC adapter works fine and there is current on the motherboard. I also noticed a high pitched sound comming from near the WiFi adapter. I tried removing the card but it still won't turn on. No LEDs turning on, no fan spinn, nothing. Could it be that there is a broken transformer or cpacitor that prevents the laptop from turning on?

I'm rather new to building computers so please bare with me on this. Any help will be very much appreciatedI have recently built a new PC. I got it up and running Saturday night on 6/16/18. PC was running fine with no issues all night. The following day on 6/17/18 I continued to use the computer as usual with no issues. Doing my normal typical work, gaming and web browsing. Computers CPU temperatures ranging from 35-40 Celsius. Video Card Temps at about 35-48 Celsius. Towards the end of the night I installed the Asus Utilities download from the Support Page of the Motherboard which has AI Suite 3 and Dual Intelligent Processors 5. The next day on 6/19/18 I began using the computer after work to do some web browsing with some YouTube. After a while the computer monitor went blank and showed no signal. Everything in the computer is still running, fans, video card heat sink fan. I tried powering restarting via reset button in the front and nothing. I then tried holding down the Power Button and no luck with that either. I also noticed the HDD Lights weren't lighting up anymore either. So I had to manually shut it down via the back with PSU. I let sit for a bit and tried the computer again. I did the same, web browsing and YouTube. Left computer idle playing a video with no issues. Once I began activity web browsing. The same issue occurred. At that point at I didn't fire it up as I didn't want something to happen to the computer as I wasn't sure what is causing the problem. I then proceeded to look up threads for any similar cases but was unable to find anything, at least that I noticed. So I asked a friend of mine who has some building experience suggested I check Video Card for overclock. My Card was is overclocked by default. I can see this in the Asus GPU Tweak II Software. It has 3 default Profiles. Overclock Mode, Game Mode, and Silent Mode. I set it to default setting which is Silent Mode on the last try as it was set to Game Mode. When I fired up the AMD Ryzen Software I did notice the CPU was running Overclocked at a speed of 4.2GHz. As Far as I understand, the chip I have runs at 3.7GHz. I never messed with any settings to Overclock or any of that as I'm not to familiar with such steps. Now my questions is, what could be the possible reason this issue is occurring with the computer? Could it be the chip is overclocked? Hardware issues? Software Issues possibly? I'm afraid I could have overlooked something during the building process. Hi, I have this weird problem. When I run OCCT after a while i get visual artifacts. I See like some rectangles with multiple colors and generally f up graphics for few seconds. This shows only in occt linpack. I use it some with avx and some without. Also screen gets black for a few seconds, and everything is after that back to normal, and test runs fine without reported error. I tested with Prime95, RealBench, Intel Burn Test, Unigine Heaven, 3D Mark Time Spy, and no such errors occur. Also my onboard sound chip is getting nuts when I use occt. It continuously alternately notifies my about that my audio device was plugged in and then plugged out, but all of them are plugged in tightly. My PC: i5 8600K on stock, NZXT Kraken X62 mount front, air take in, MSI Z370 Gaming M5, GSkill TridentZ RGB 3000MHz 16 GB DDR4, MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, Corsair RM750X PSU, Samsung Evo 850 250 GB SSD, 1TB WD Blue, Windows 10 freshly installed, newest bios. Description of Original Problem: It started like 2 weeks ago, Before i was able with no problems, to play games for HOURS (5-10Hrs) it was when i updated from windows 10 to a newer version of windows 10 i think it was the april update, before the 1803, i dont know if this is really the cause. The crash is pretty much a black screen, system hangs and the sound makes a Stuttering annoying loud noise/buzz/freeze sound.. when im on desktop it crashes sometimes too, while listening music, whats weird is that when that happens, the screen is black but the music is still going in the background. My Card is not even 2 years old i think, and its already showing faults? it was functioning perfectly a few weeks ago, playing for HOURS, no crashes, sometimes i get instant crashes as soon as i launch a game too, how is this possible? whats more infuriating is that there's no dump file or ANYTHING to tell me what the fuck is wrong with it and whats causing it. worst of all, there's no authorized Repair service where i can send this so they can check. Troubleshooting: Things already tried: * Removed Video drivers with DDU and Update Video Drivers * Update Realtek drivers * Updated M/B BIOS * Did a memtest86, it Passed and came out clean * Defragged the HDD * Did system files scan with sfc, 1 file came corrupted and replaced it, crashed still happen * Also did a chkdsk on both drives and still got a crash * took out the PC Tower and took off EVERYTHING, cleaned, replaced thermal paste even though my temps were fine, paste was still fresh, Reseated Ram slot and SATA Ports, removed the mobo battery and placed it again, Resetted CMOS, cleaned the whole thing, still crashing. * Drive C had a few sectors wrong so i swapped to a new 320gb i had lying around, sectors are fine on the 320gb, re-installed W10 Pro, still got a crash * I once again Formatted and Swapped to windows 7 Ultimate, still got a crash.. * Uninstalled the latest AMD Driver with DDU and let windows download automatically the driver which is version 17.7.1, so far no crashes after 1hr of gaming, needs more testing... EDIT: After 3hrs, it got a crash.. * Downgraded to driver 16.11.5, got the same crash * Downloaded Driver 18.6.1 since aparently no matter what driver i install, even the most stable ones like 16.11.5, still got a crash * Did some stress Testing with prime95 for the cpu, FurMark for the GPU and GPU-Z / HWMonitor for monitoring, i've attached the .txt files and FurMark Picture, the first test lasted longer than 10 minutes, later i did another at a 1600x1080 resolution at x8 MSAA, and it crashed almost inmediatelly, at around 1-2 minutes At this point I gave up, I have tried literally EVERYTHING in my power to fix this, I dont know if you guys can help me fix this for the love of.. I also dont have any spare parts so i can try with something else.. And also i think i cant RMA the card if its faulty, i bought it in 2016 and there's nowhere to send it to repair to an official repair center or something. i have recently bought a PNY 1060 6gb variant. when i finished installing it into my pc it would power on but there wasn't a display on my monitor. i previouslty had a 960 2gb and i removed the drivers so it wouldnt conflict with the new graphics card. i am wondering if i bought a broken one or i am simply making a mistake somewhere. I have an older hp laptop and the back light does not function anymore (hold light up to screen and see items). i cleaned the board because i noticed corrosion but now i have no display. My only question i need answering is if a laptop does not post will the caps lights and num lights still function (by enabling and disabling it) because mine do and i dont have a monitor.

Windows 10 decided to update when I turned on my PC. For some reason it said it failed to update and will undo changes. After it restarted I get the black screen with the windows logo and a loading wheel of dots. But after that it's just a black screen. I can move the mouse and the cursor is the blue loading wheel. I can't get into my PC. Help. Edit: I booted in recovery mode/repsir mode or whatever. Used start up repair and got this message. (Image 2)

Hello everyone, first post on this forum. Wish me luck! Initially, I ran my set up with an R9-390 for two years, never had a hardware fault or problem. Last night I was playing a game when my PC rebooted itself and on the other end of the restart, my keyboard and mouse lighting profile loaded, fans slowed down and everything seemed fine but, my monitor did not come alive. Steps I followed: (Any guidance on best practice is most welcome.) Dr Debug code, AA (Seemingly standard since I built the machine, never had a hardware issue before) Hard restart the PC through the reset button, same issue. Unplugged PC, discharged capacitors, hold CLR CMOS button for 10 seconds, plug in, PWR on, same issue. Power down, changed UEFI switch on Mobo from A to B, same issue. (Changed it back) Unplugged the GPU, cable in to integrated graphics i/o, monitor boots with PC, into windows, PC is happy. Update DDU, reboot in to safe mode, run DDU (Clean and Restart) with DP cable in Mobo i/o; boots up. Power down PC, put GPU back in, plug DP cable in to GPU, black screen. Unplug cable from GPU, back in to Mobo, Black screen... okay. Hijack 1070 from friend(he'll get it back), uninstall AMD drivers, download NVIDIA drivers, plug in GPU and... Well, the fact that I am here should indicate that I still have no output. Try all PCIE lanes, same issue. I have plugged DVI, HDMI and DP cables in every port and in every configuration imaginable, so I am confident it is neither the cables nor ports. Now, I know there are a few other things I can try, to preempt a few answers, tonight after work I am yet to try a few more tricks I read about before I left the house. Essentially, I was just hoping one of the gurus in this community have come across this before and know what the issue is. I am open to having a new one torn because I have made a detrimental mistake. As I have stated in my profile, I am nowhere near as experienced as I could be. I built the PC back in October 2016 and up until now the worst issue I have had is the fact that I bought a 390 months before the 480 came out. (To be fair, I picked it up off a friend who only used it for benchmarking for £180 so I thought it was a steal when bundled with the i5-6500 for a grand total of £250)
