Hey all, I am looking to buy an entry level laptop for my grandfather who’s current laptop barely boots into windows yet alone chrome and was wondering if anyone knew a laptop that would fit these requirements. The laptop will only ever be used to watch Youtube videos, open PDFs, pictures and word documents and once in a while to open his emails. It would be nice if the laptop had onboard ethernet. The laptop should also have a screen at least 16”. The budget for this upgrade is between €100-200. While searching myself I found the HP 255G9 with an AMD ryzen 3 chip inside but I don’t know if that fits these requirements as I am still quite new to the world of PCs and computing hardware. Thanks for the help!

Hi everyone, first time here. I was trying to set a Raid 1 on my dad's computer (first time doing that too) and I realised that the 2 drives need to be connected on the same way, but mine are m.2 and sata, so it didn't work. That was AFTER changing them to dynamic disks. I don't know if dynamic disks may cause some trouble, since microsoft doesn't recomment its use anymore, but it feels safer to come back to basic. The problem now is that I don't want any data loss, specially on the C: m.2. So I wanted to ask if there's some safe, free way to do that. The only way I can find is to copy all that data to my PC and format the m.2, but I don't if that may cause some problem with windows or any software, so I wanted to ask here first. thanks!

Title is pretty obvious. Each thread would be a different project. these project guides should be pretty basic so that anyone can do it and include lots of pictures for the tech illiterate. Example projects: How to set up a NAS on Windows ” on Mac How to host a free HTML website on github How to link your HTML website to a custom domain How to make a website with google pages etc etc

Does anyone know what new case would fit my Dell Optiplex 745 USFF pc? I got the computer for free, but I wouldn't mind a flashier case, but I do not want to buy one that wouldn't work.

I’m currently working on building a workstation which is a whole other matter ? but I’m looking for a small laptop roughly £300ish that just needs to run word, download files and surf the web for when I’m in class. Any recommendations? I seem to see a lot about the surface go but this laptop needs only basic features as it’s almost exclusively for notes. I would prefer it to be slim and stylish with small bezels.

I been thinking about what parts I need for my PC (I don't like to spend money in something that I don't/won't need). I use a lot programs at the same time: IDE, 2 databases, multiple spreadsheets, 2 browsers (multiple tabs), chat/voice calls, email client, remote desktop, and a time tracker; sometimes a graphics editor but for minor stuff. Sometimes I play web games (flash/unity/stencil that i can complete in 15/20 mins when I'm "done for the moment"), YouTube videos, Spotify and some movies (using VLC). I was thinking on Ryzen 5 2600U but, right now, a Ryzen 7 2700, 16 GB of RAM (in the future to 32 GB, maybe 64 GB), and 250 GB SSD is better. As you can read, I don't play AAA games (don't have time for that) so I need a very very very basic video card (VC). I only need to reproduce videos at 60fps in a 1920x1080 screen and play my web games (my current PC suffers trying to do these). What VC do you recommend for a person like me with these needs? I only found recommendations for top notch VCs. Note: To put you in perspective, currently I have an Intel Core 2 Duo with integrated video of 4 GB of RAM (8 years old)... and still works fine (except for videos at 60fps on some web games).

Hello guys & gals~ I am currently looking for a keyboard for my workplace. I would like to have the cheapest, no frills keyboard (No RGB; although backlit in white might be possible option, media keys etc.) If possible, it needs to look like your average office keyboard, not gamer-y that sort of stuff, BUT it has to have Cherry MX Blue, or similar feeling. Can you help me in recommending a suitable keyboard? Thanks

Hey guys, Parents want a newer faster PC for basic home use (ms office suite, web browsing, etc). I kept telling them I could build them one for cheaper than they could just outright buy one. I still believe that but I'm doubting myself a little. This time of year workstations already bundled with windows home premium and coming with peripherals are getting heavily dropped in price. I'm debating to buy or build. I guess what I'm looking for is a good deal on a basic machine or parts suggestions for a build like this. I would probably be fine with it just coming with a regular terabyte or so hard drive, also it will need two HDMI ports for output. Budget is $400 or under, trying to get it more around $300. Oh, and peripherals coming included or os/office suite is a plus. Also disk drive is needed and wifi is a plus. Also R8 this one that I'm currently debating / weigh this machine against a possible build : Acer Aspire TC-885-ACCFLi3 EDIT: by peripherals I mean basic keyboard and mouse, not with monitor

wanted to hear opinions on the best options on putting a reasonable windows pc behind a 60"-65" LG non oled tv with a pull out and tilt wall mount that should give me good room its going to have a 4k fire box ,the router ,modem and a spread design power strip I might customize a bit to take slack out of cable runs I solder and do house electrical so no worries on capability and ability to judge space its going in looking for small and thing but still snappy and have ethernet on it to hard wire it in possibly a 2 or 3 usb3 would be nice but 2.0 is fine just need 2 or 3.

This may seem like a dumb question, but I am looking into soundbars for a new TV, and I was wondering if all soundbars work with all TVs or if since I have an LG TV I need an LG soundbar, with proper cables and connectors. Recommendations are appreciated, but I mainly want to know tips about compatibility. Thanks!

Hey Guys, this is Aus... never mind But jokes aside. I need help with my really basic application (Music player if you want to call it). Im creating basic music player with functions like PLAY, PUASE, NEXT, PREVIOUS. I have 2 "screens" one screen is list of all *.mp3 files and the other is actual player with buttons. I have them kinda separated that means that when I tap one music file in the first screen, it opens the second screen and starts playing music. But what I would love to have is actually some kind of "sliding" tabs. that I would have 2 tabs at the top of application one callled "LIST" and one called "PLAYER" and user would be able to slide throw those to screens or tap one of the tabs. As a attachments I have got JPG1 with is the actual look of player and the second is JPG2 list of song, then the TABS picture is what I would love to have but I cant find any solution for it without "reprogramming" the whole stuff. Thank you very much! PS: Code of that application is written in MainActivity and WoM attachment. THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP!! WoM.java MainActivity.java

Hi, I'm aiming to build my parents a new PC because their old one is unbearably slow. They won't need dedicated graphics or anything intense - it will be used for video, word processing, excel etc. It will definitely need an SSD for Windows and at least 1TB HDD, and to be upgradable in the future. As I'm a novice to all this, could people please help me with what the build should be? I already have peripherals, monitor, and Windows 10. Thanks!

Hey, I'm building my first PC and was planing on running UnRAID, virtualising Win 10 and running some servers off of UnRAID. I thought I could use the iGPU for the UnRAID console output. Silly me didn't realise that there is no iGPU on X299 CPUs and so there is none on my 7800X. Now I need a really really basic GPU (preferably with HDMI output) but I don't know which to buy. I was looking into the Nvidia GT 1030, just 'cause of fancy pascal architecture and stuff, but it really has more rendering power than I need. Can you recommend something cheap but functional? Thx in advance! ~SaltyPillow

Does anyone know of any basic video editor that allows you to do frame by frame work and basic cuts without re-encoding? I usually use ffmpeg, as it's great, but are there any other options that have a UI?

Starting a business course at school and will need something to use instead of my gaming PC and laptop. Was thinking of something like a SUS ZenBook 3 UX390 12.5" or even the "new" MacBook Air. In the U.K. these run around £800 which is the upper end of my budget since I will only use it for school. Has anyone tried the 2 in 1 laptop tablet style touchscreen systems. They are reasonably cheep with 8gb of ram but not sure. I usually build PCs not buy laptops so was looking for ideas.
