I'm currently running 32GB (4 x 8GB) of Crucial Ballistix 3600 (CL16) with a Ryzen 5 3600 (FCLK and MCLK at 1800) for number/database crunching and video editing. I recently upgraded to a Ryzen 9 5950X and was thinking of bumping up my RAM, too. Unfortunately, Crucial quit making performance RAM and their current DDR4 "Pro" offering is only 3200MT with CL22. I'd like to keep the FCLK and MCLK at 1800. I've been loyal to Micron/Crucial for many, many years, so I haven't paid a lot of attention to other brands. Can I swap out one pair of Ballistix 8GB's with a pair of 16's from another brand with similar timings and a good reputation? (If so, who?) Or do I just suck it up and buy another brand's 2x32GB DDR4 3600 CL16? (Crucial's "Pro" DDR4 3200 2x32GB is only $100 on Amazon right now, but I don't like the speed and timings.) Or is there another solution?

I am using 2x8GB Crucial Ballistix RGB 3200 RAM with an Asus TUF B450 motherboard and my RGB software is armoury crate. I've had this issue for a while. In a perfect world, my RAM would look like this (I changed the colors in armoury crate because my crappy phone camera couldn't see the difference between cyan and blue): working.mp4 but 4 out of every 5 times at boot, it does this instead (in slow-motion because my crappy phone camera also couldn't see the flickering otherwise): flickering.mp4 It looks like the ram sticks both get the color they're supposed to get, then flicker between that and the other stick's color. I can somewhat circumvent this in two ways: 1) Reboot until it decides to work 2) Assign a similar rgb profile where both sticks use the same animation so the flicker isn't visible none of which I like. Windows 10 is up to date. Armoury crate is up to date too and this has been going on for several versions. I don't really like the idea of reinstalling armoury crate because last time I did, everything worked even less for 2 weeks, and at this point I consider RGB to be some sort of black magic. I am not using any other RGB software, apart from Ballistix MOD which is installed on my PC (not running) but it's what allows any of this to work in the first place.

Hello forum, I was hoping that some smart or knowledgeable individual could help me in my dilemma. The plan is to upgrade from my existing 16 GB (2x8) of DDR4 RAM to 32GB. Problem: I can't seem to find an offer for the exact memory I purchased 2 years ago. What I bought: Ballistix 3000 MHz CL15 RAM for cheap. I was informed that it's the same die on the memory, regardless of whether I buy the cheapest 3000 MHz or the most expensive 3800 MHz kit. So I just overclocked it for the time being - worked out great and been running stable ever since. HOWEVER, upon checking shops, the most attractive deal is for a pair of 3200 MHz CL16 sticks. I would have wished to purchase that and run 4 RAM modules for a total of 32 GB. But the word has always been: do not mix your RAM. Would I be doing this by using the same manufacturer? What's the spec I need to check specifically to be sure that I don't run into any issues? God, has anyone ever done this or has any sort of experience? My assumption would be: It's still the same chip underneath and once I plug them all into my new motherboard, I set the timings for all of them equally. I check my RAM timings via some software and overclock afterwards if needed. Now, that would be glorious if that worked the way I imagine it, but PC building has a way of crushing many such hopes. I need someone to tell me where I am wrong Or if it at all possible what spec has to be equivalent as to avoid 'mixing' memory within my system. Thoughts on going for 4 modules for a 32 GB setup? I KNOW that selling my existing kit and simply buying a new pair of RipJaws or whatever is the safest route. But that would require me to sell my stuff on the second-hand market and get a fresh 32 GB kit for ~140 USD instead of just upgrading for 70. I don't think I'll get too much for a used pair of 8 GB sticks, even though they run just fine. RAM seems to be one of the more prone components to failure after all. I appreciate any sort of insight you can give me!

Finished my build with Asus Prime Pro, Ryzen 5 5600x and Crucial Ballistix 2x8gb 3600mhz. So the issue is while running XMP above 3400mhz the MOBO wont post while without it the ram is visible as a single channel and not dual channel. The motherboard is running the newest bios and I have no stability issues its just the ram that cannot hit its marketed speeds. From what it looks like after some tweaking the cpu is running fine 4.6ghz under stress. Ram: BL2K8G36C16U4W

Hello everyone! It's been many months now, maybe a year, and I still haven't solved this huge problem, then someone recommended this forum to me. Basically I have RAM with limited bandwidth, they are slow, I've tested other PCs and my RAM performs really bad in comparison, but, if I put them in another motherboard they performs well, so it's a problem with my motherboard in particular. My system Motherboard: Gigabyte Z390 Gaming X (BIOS version F10i) CPU: i9-9900KF stock, no OC. RAM: Ballistix Sport LT 3000 (2x8) , dual channel mode, timings are 15-16-16-35 at 1.35V. (XMP Profile 1 mode) This is the benchmark I did using AIDA64, which demonstrates the problem: (woah, huge screenshot sorry, I have 4K resolution) For some unknown reason they performs just like to 2400 mhz kit. This is XMP mode, BUT if I disable the XMP and run them to the default 2400 mhz, the memory read is 22.000 GB/s, just like DDR3 ram.... that's insane! What's wrong with my settings? Everything is stock on the BIOS, I haven't touched any settings, plus I've cleared CMOS countless times and reinstalled the BIOS a couple of times. Fun fact: If i try to OC the ram, they can't even reach 3600 mhz, but max 3500 mhz and the bandwidth is still too slow, plus they are unstable. If you're wondering that maybe the rams are defective, no, they have passed the test of OCCT, HCI MemTest 400%, and TestMem5 with Extreme1@anta777.cfg but only with XMP 3000 C15 , If I do for example 3200 with same timings they are immediately unstable. But I have no interest in OC, I just want to solve the limited bandwidth problem, which is really oppressing. Thank you all in advance for your time!

I am trying to get a 5900x and pair it with a MSI x570 tomahawk mobo. I have been comparing the G.skill trident Z RGB vs the Crucial Ballistix RGB both are CL16 3600 is there any real difference? Both seem to be on the support memory list

Is this deal any good? is this RAM even any good? I don't understand B-die/ E-die as much. This deal is the cheapest right now I guess. DDR4 Ballistix M.O.D. Utility Not working

I bought a 16gb kit of Ballistix gaming memory ddr4-3200. Put them in my machine and was running with Aura and had no problems. About a month later, i bought another 16gb kit, plug them in and now i cant control it with aura. So i download the DDR4 Ballistix M.O.D. Utility, it controls all 4 sticks for a while and then the leds lockup. I try and load the utility and it gives me a motherboard not supported error. If i reboot it works again for a while and then locks up again. Is anyone else having this issue? Any thoughts on fixing it? I only have 8GB and would like to extend it to 16GB but astonishingly what I have now just isn't sold anymore. It's a 8192MB 2400MHz CL16 DDR4 Ballistix Sport - BLS8G4D240FSB and other than eBay, which would ship it in 2 months, I couldn't find other options. In the process of writing this I just found this: Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 8GB (2x4GB) DDR4 2400MHz CL16 SODIMM - BLS2K4G4S240FSD I figure this would work, right? I have enough RAM slots on my mobo - a B350 PC MATE. -
For those having constant BSODs using an AsRock motherboard with Crucial Ballistix RAM, I have found a fix that not many people have suggested, and I want to make it more known. If I had known to do this earlier, it would have saved me from a week of troubleshooting and trying to fix blue screens. My build uses an AsRock B450 Steel Legend and Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer RGB 3200 MHz RAM, but this fix may also apply to other AsRock motherboards and Crucial RAM. Here is a list of the blue screens I was getting (if they do not match what you are getting then this fix probably won't work): memory_management system_service_exception irql_not_less_or_equal pfn_list_corrupt Here are the steps I took to fix this issue: Run the Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool. I just did a single pass basic test. If you get an error, you probably have the same problem as me. If not, it's probably because of something else. (Optional) Replace your RAM. It may be because of faulty RAM. However, this may not be the issue, and isn't what fixed the problem for me. I actually did replace my RAM, and was still getting errors when running the Diagnostic Tool. Go into motherboard BIOS and make sure your motherboard is running the RAM at a high enough voltage. My motherboard was only supplying 1.2 V, and my RAM needed 1.35 V. Run the Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool again. If you got an error before, but don't get one now, the problem should be fixed. After doing steps four and five, I haven't had any blue screens for over two weeks. If those steps didn't fix the blue screens, and you are still getting errors when running the Memory Diagnostic Tool, you probably just have faulty RAM and should get it replaced. Hopefully this helped fix the issue for you as well though. -
I just built my first PC today, and I am having an issue controlling the RGB on the ram. The RGB control in the ballistix MOD app does not change the RGB on the ram. It is currently stuck doing a color cycle pattern that is very annoying. I really want to set the RAM RGB to match with everything else, but seem to be unable to. Could it have anything to do with my motherboard? I am using an Asrock B450 Steel Legend. Any help that could be given would be greatly appreciated.

Hey everyone. So few days ago I built my first PC. Everything went well except the ram XMP or like Asus call it, D.O.C.P. I have 2x8gb Ballistix Elite 3600Mhz ram sticks which works on 2600Mhz on stock. No matter what I tried, I couldn't make the PC boot at the given D.O.C.P settings. My bios version is 1405 which is latest. I'm very disappointed as I know making rams run at 3600 would boost PC's performance significantly. -
Hello everyone, I was wondering if the 16gb kit of Ballistix Tactical Tracer RGB ram would be compatible and in working order in my ASRock B450 Steel Legend. I tried looking up the compatibility in Crucial's website but the checker was not working properly. If anyone of you knows if the RAM would work on my board, it would be very helpful to let me know :) -
Hello there ! First post on this forum, i'll try to make it quick ! I recently decided to upgrade my old rig so i went and bought: i9 9900k + 2080 from aorus + 4x8Go 3600 CAS 16 from Ballistix (here is the reference: BLE4K8G4D36BEEAK) + 1To mp510 from Corsair, running on a z390 Aorus master. My point is: did i make something wrong in my choosing ? I mean compatibility wise. Did i pick up components that are not supposed to work with eachother ? Why am I asking this you say? Because when I assembled those pieces together, they worked fined for maybe 40min then the PC froze. Since then it won't post. The MB gets stuck on weird error codes like D4 (04 ?) or 71 which are respectively referenced as "reserved" and "PCH SMM initialisation" (wtf is that ?! even the tech guy from gigabyte couldn't tell me what it is). Of course i tried to reset, Clear CMOS, use back up bios etc it's always the same. The only thing that creates a different outcome is when i boot with no RAM installed, in which case i can hear the continuous beeps. Anyway, I called tech support, they provided me with a brand motherboard, but nothing changed. Same error code, so as im writing those lines, my CPU and RAM aer getting replaced, but i can't but wonder.... Did i do something wrong or is it just my karma that's really really bad ? PS: do you guys know something about code 71 on aorus card ? i've been loonking for answer but couldn't find a hint. Such a shame i read so many good comments on this MB Since it's my first post and english is not my first language, i'm sorry if my writing is tough to go through. Thx for reading !

I am currently running 8gb kit (2x4gb) of ballistix sport red oc to 3000mhz at cl14 with ryzen 2600. The problem is I getting very bad sutterting in some games, pubg/bf. I want to upgrade to 16gb but I can't sell these ram and I don't have the budget to get 16gb ddr(150$ here) . So the point is should I get 1 8gb stick of 3000mhz trident z and then manually set the timings of all 3 rams the same? Will this work? I can later on buy another 8gb trident z but for now I can only buy one. Will these 3 ram work fine at same frequencies?

I have a friend who had just purchased new RAM that was on sale. He installed it and now his computer won't show a picture. Below is what he had posted on Reddit (r/pcmasterrace) hoping to get a reply. I wanted to post here to see if anyone would be able to help with some suggestions. My friends initial post: "Just got new RAM (2x8GB G.Skill ddr4 2133) to replace my 2x4GB Ballistix ddr4. Switched the RAM out and plugged everything back in. Switched the computer back on. It kicked on but the monitor wouldn't recognize it. Switched back to my old RAM to see if maybe the new RAM was the issue and now that doesn't work either. I have made sure everything is still connected, RAM has been reseated, computer has been cleaned out with a can of compressed air, CMOS jumper used to reset BIOS and motherboard battery removed and put back to reset bios, single RAM stick used in each of the four slots still nothing. I am running out of ideas and am just hoping my mobo isn't fried (as far as I know there isn't a speaker or light on it so I really don't have a way to tell if it is or not). hi, so I'm planning to get i5 8400 and asus b360M E gaming board, i know that the board only support 2666mhz ram but i got a good price for ballistix DDR4 3000mhz 8x2 ram. i check list of board compatible ram and i couldn't find the ram serial number, does this mean that the ram will not work? i dont want to buy and throw it away. board and ram attached.

hi, i already have vega 64 and i want to upgrade other parts whic are i7 4790, hyperx 16GB ddr3 as im starting to struggle while gaming on my 2560x1080 monitor. i think of getting ryzen 5 2600 asus tuf b450 gaming plus 16GB (8x2) ballistix sport lt, number attached. i read that dual channel bandwidth for them is around 32GBs which is low compared to similar ram, can i overclock them with ryzen as i read they are xmp compatible with intel only. are the rams compatible and runs well with the cpu, gpu and board? dimm, udimm, buffered, unbuffered...etc are the rams good enough? or hyperx fury ddr4 2400mhz? thanks

Hello members, Sorry for annnoother ram stability topic. The topic is so vast I decided to create a topic. I have been reading for weeks now about ram stability, and would appreciate any specific help: - I specifically purchased 3000MHZ ram (Ballistix Tactical Tracer 16X2) but can't seem to get a stable system above 2400MHZ on "auto". - System stability = 1 hour AIDA64 stress test (is this sufficient?) Should I even care? I certainly would like to take advantage of any benefits (for a content creation workstation) a higher RAM frequency, but the more I read forums, the more it seems it doesn't really matter. Are there any suggestions you all might have? Edited up to date notes: Bios is up to date I ran several configurations but found that DOCP or Auto tune to anything above 2400MHZ crashes system in AIDA64 *No, my ram is not on the QVL
