    Hi!

HI i made this profile like nearly 2 years ago and forgot about it. I'm gonna use it now... YAY EDIT: I ALSO HAVE COOKIES!!! Check my other post about a new graphics card.
  2. publisher 505 Games and developer Three One Zero are shooting for in Adr1ft, based on gameplay featured in a new trailer that debuted at the 2014 Game Awards. Described by the publisher as a “first-person experience,” Adr1ft follows an astronaut who’s been stranded in orbit after a catastrophic event leaves a space station in ruins. With no other survivors to lean on for help and a zero-gravity wasteland of wreckage to pick through for resources, it’s on the player to survive and, with a little luck, escape. Adr1ft is expected to arrive for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One in summer 2015. Also the game is powered by Unreal 4 !!! Source: http://threeonezero.com/ http://www.505games.com/games/adr1ft
  3. One of PlayStation Experience's announcements has arrived a little early, as Capcom today posted a teaser trailer for Street Fighter V, coming exclusively to PlayStation 4 and PC. The above teaser trailer was posted to Capcom's YouTube channel this morning. We already know that Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono is in Las Vegas for PlayStation Experience, and now it appears we know why. According to prior comments from Ono, Street Fighter V is still in the early stages of development. He also assures fans that the fighting game will not be "pay-to-win." The most recent core Street Fighter game was 2009's Street Fighter IV for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. 4. Original Link: http://store.steampowered.com/news/15117/?snr=1_550_552&utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter Interesting.... Like the idea, as long as it's well implemented! Edit: Looks like it's only for games, so no Steam powered WAN Show ;( Please share your opinions down below! ↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓
  5. The crew comes out tonight, who else is super excited? I have been waiting or so long to get this game and couldn't be more excited for a game. What are everyone elses opinions about this game and will you guys be downloading it as well?
  6. Hello, I recently purchased a NZXT Kraken G10 as it was on sale on black Friday and i had an extra liquid cooler to use on my gpu. I have a gigabyte 780ti GHZ edition and it seems to run around 75-80*c when under load(stock windforce cooler) before I went on with installing it I'm just checking to see if the fan will be enough for the vrm and vram cooling. I asked the nice man at micro center and he said it would be ok, but with all of the negative reviews on vrm cooling and the fact that this card is overvolted stock with dual 8pin pci-e connectors, I'm just making sure before i put my $700 gpu on the line. Please leave suggestions on vrm heat sinks if i need any and also can i get a suggestion on thermal paste. Thanks, ZachtheMan btw this gpu uses Japanese capacitors if that matters
  7. Hello Folks, Since few days I am doubting on getting a new mouse again! See, Since 2 months now, I have the Roccat Kone XTD. It's a nice mouse, for right hand like me, with some options and nice features. But here is the problem, The mouse doesn't feel always right for me. It's confortable butI have trouble handling it sometimes. So I was looking at the Steelseries Sensei. It has some pretty neat feature and I would like people that own that mouse to answer that thread. I am a CSGO player mainly (only), no COD, no BF, CSGO all the way. Are the features really good and helpfull for gaming? (like this features that keep the pointer in a straight line (no jerkies)). The lifting option? I tend to lift my mouse often so... Is it really confortable for right hand and left hand? Did you see any improvement in your gaming? confort? My grip is more of a Claw Grip. Nice sweet answers would be awesome.
  8. Huge thanks to NicksplosionFX for the amount of effort he put into making this and the quality is amazing! This is great for me as i am from 99's i never got to know these stuffs and for most of you here this will be be a huge nostalgia trip of memories,It all consist of few seconds of each games opener and obviously these are all 8 bit/chiptune and most are monochrome apart from pokemon and few others (i don't know),and they're all alphabetically ordered so it will be easier to find what you're looking for. Its 2 hours, 42 minutes if you're interested in watching the whole thing. Enjoy Ps Pokemon is at 1h53m42 Source NicksplosionFX
  9. Okay, this is my first review, and I will be doing it for Windows 10... When the WAN show archive went up yesterday I wanted to become a Insider. So I did, and here are my first experiences. The thread will be updated if I didn't cover something and will be updated for some older game benchmarks. So, lets tune in, shall we? THE INSTALLATION The Installation via USB was hard enough... Now you wont see the (Press any Key) message pop up... A normal Windows 8 logo will pop up or your manufacturers logo, depends... Don't take your USB out! You will know if it's booting into the installation because it will take longer than normal boot in your current OS! (If you have already installed version of Windows 8) The installation starts and you do the same steps as in 8 or 8.1, but weirdly it doesn't ask for the code they provided you... if you're on USB and it does a first reboot reboot, let it reboot, go into BIOS and change the boot order back from USB to HDD, or you will just loop the installation which can corrupt your boot loader. This time there will be a black screen for a longer time, and a Windows 8 logo for a longer time... When it boots it will setup things and then you need to type in your email, and this time you can't bypass this (I couldn't) This makes sense, when you go into Hotmail you need to provide them another email address from now to use it (for backup purposes) and they even ask you a mail you provided in the Hotmail for activation purposes.... Activation goes like this! 1. Email here 2. Password here Click next 3. Secondary email you provided in Hotmail while becoming a insider Click next 4. Code they will give you on your secondary email PUT HERE! Click next It should activate everything now, and you're ready to go... It automatically installs a generic NVidia or AMD driver in your system FILES, FOLDERS AND NEW UI! When you boot up after installation, you will be presented with the same desktop as on windows 8... But, HOLY CRAP, THERE ACTUALLY IS A START MENU which reminds more of XP! I won't provide any pictures, if you wanna see you gotta do it for yourself If you already had Windows 8, even if you don't click upgrade in installation (because you want to dual boot just like I did), they will give you the same wallpaper you got on Windows 8, on your desktop... Also the Metro interface still exists, but you need to enable it... To do so: Right Click on taskbar -> Properties -> Start Menu tab -> Uncheck first option... There you go... There is also a search icon, it just does quick searches on bing, when you first use it the message will pop up: "Why didn't you use the Start Menu?" Which made me laugh as hell Third Icon on taskbar manages your opened windows, and HOLY CRAP! WHOLE DESKTOPS... Yes, you can add those... When you add them it just duplicates the first one you have, but you can customize the second one, and leave the first one alone! On your taskbar will also be pinned: Internet Explorer, File explorer that was renamed to "home", Store app and nothing else Everything else is pretty minimalistic... And did I say that the Metro apps (now intergraded in the start menu) don't have to be full screen? You get everything you got with 8.1, but it also suggest what you should install based upon your last OS, which is nice! Also there are animations which are actually cool looking (slight and smooth gliding when opening windows), so you won't need to turn them off! Also the Window borders are thinner which you can notice from my other photos DRIVERS, HARDWARE DETECTION All the hardware is properly detected, drivers for them are preinstalled, but the newer ones seem to be working fine... SPEED In daily use I noticed that it is a bit faster than normal, but, I will also have to do some light gaming on this (pretty weak laptop) INTERNET EXPLORER It is very fast, and sturdy, good for watching videos, playing flash games, but the software from this forum doesn't cope well with it... In fact I'm using it right now and you cant Quote, change the size and color, but everything else tends to be fine! DUAL BOOTING Dual booting is nice and in fact you can dual boot 8, 8.1 and 10 no problem, but it uses either 7 or 8 boot loader... (7 uses ASCII and 8 uses actual GUI) Even tho there is one weird thing, it says (recovered) next to the name of the older OS... EDIT: Dual boot menu doesn't always appear and can't find a possible solution for the problem... So multiple restarts required for 8 or Techinal Preview boot... GAMING This section is coming soon... Okay, had some time with the new Windows, and gotta say, the gaming performance is pretty good... And another thing i noticed is that heat output of the laptop is so much less defined... I currently tested on games like: CoD4 and Burnout: Paradise City. We all know that the new games will run well on the New Windows, but the older games are always the problem... The FPS was better... Before Windows 10 I had 10-30 FPS but now I have from 30-60 with drops to 15 when multiple cars are crashing and such... CoD4 was never hard to run... Mod on custom mods like Zombies and Deathrun with custom or not custom map I always keep above 30 FPS, but most of the times I get 250 lock if playing Deathrun servers... Next games to test: GTA: SA MW3 or COD2 TF2 NFS WORLD... For now, my grade would be 8/10, speedy, sleek, nice... But it all comes down to gaming, or it will be the same thing as the old pal windows 8, except with start menu BUGS AND GLITCHES The new Windows has some bugs! It will sometimes freeze, and the Explorer will sometimes glitch, requering a whole restart of computer or ending the bugged process, things sometimes don't open, but it almost never crashed, which is nice since it's only in Beta! Windows will automatically provide you with questions for feedback which you can answer on the fly... If you are experiencing a glitch just report it to Microsoft, still this is a very nice OS!
  10. This is kind of a long one, took me quite a bit to write due to the ADHD, it was strong. I have this post on my website/blog, but I'd thought I'd share it with you guys on the LTT Forums. I'm not very used to writing reviews, so sorry if it isn't up to standards. It might also be a tad bit boring. The BlackBerry Z10, the first ever BlackBerry 10 smartphone from BlackBerry, previously Research in Motion. That’s a lot of BlackBerry in a sentence. Being the first of its kind, the device is not without its quirks, but this little guy is not one that you should be taking for granted! The Z10 doesn’t pack much of a powerful punch but it is just enough to impress and perform. I’d really like to skip the specifications of the BlackBerry Z10 but that wouldn’t be right for a review even if it’s this late right? So here you go! It’s nothing to drool on really. 4.2″ 720p IPS LCD Display 16GB Internal (Expandable to 64GB w/ Micro SD) Qualcomm Snapdragon Dual Core 1.5 GHz Krait chip Adreno 225 1,800 mAh Battery 8 MP rear facing & 2 MP front facing 1080p video recording @ 30fps NFC Bluetooth 4.0 So really, this device doesn’t have all the beef that it needs to go head to head with the big boys in terms of specification, I’ll give you that. What is important though, isn’t all about what’s under the hood, it’s the interface that runs on it. Like Windows Phone, BlackBerry 10 works surprisingly well on low specs, only difference is that it’s usable. Let’s set the ground rules on what BlackBerry 10 is, and isn’t right now. It is a brand new iteration of BlackBerry OS, revamped from ground up to improve the overall BlackBerry experience and give it an update, cause BlackBerry OS felt like a very dated OS, even with OS7. For a brand new OS, BlackBerry 10 is actually quite good and a pleasant experience. What it isn’t is an Android device or some end all be all best OS in the world type of thing. This OS is young and obviously can’t compete with the likes of iOS and Android. BlackBerry fans, face it. Rest of the world, understand. BlackBerry 10 took what BlackBerry was all about and gave it a new face. Back when I was on the iPhone or any Android powered device, I was visiting apps after apps after apps to consume all my media and information and communicate. Now, with BlackBerry 10’s new BlackBerry Hub, I have all my text messages, emails, BBM, Whatsapp, notifications all in one..well hub. I can easily read the things that comes in, or if I’m in a hurry, pinch the hub to show only my important emails and messages. This hub of information saves me time when I need to consume all there is to consume. The hub is also the one stop shop when you need to contact someone, because everything goes into the hub, you can compose a text, IM or email directly from the hub. It’s just magical. Did I mention this thing is a beast to communicate with due to its awesome keyboard? I didn’t? Well with BlackBerry 10 in place, BlackBerry has received a new upgrade or improve in terms of their touch keyboards. BlackBerry was king of their physical keyboard, I am now proud to say BlackBerry has now win my heart with the keyboard on BlackBerry 10. I have to say, my best typing experience on a touch keyboard was with SwiftKey, now it has been pushed down to my #2 keyboard with the introduction of BlackBerry 10’s new touch keyboard. Auto-correct is not like iOS’s terrible system, word prediction gets it right almost every time, and the software even remembers where you normally hit keys and moves the contact point of that key. So for example, if you often hit o instead of p and correct your mistake, it’ll slightly shift the contact point of p closer to o! This is what I call remarkable! The system of swiping up your word prediction is also very intuitive and makes one-handed use even easier. Now, the new OS is great. Albeit with its obvious drawbacks. Although it is an OS that promotes productivity, that can be hindered by what you do. If your work depends on certain apps that are ONLY available of iOS or Android, you’re pretty much out of options. But BlackBerry has Android Runtime and has support for Android apps you say? Yes this feature exists and it is really great that I can run apps that aren’t available on BlackBerry but available on Android. However, this experience is not without its flaws. Not all Android apps run smoothly on BlackBerry 10. It is definitely run, or attempt to, but sometimes it’ll just crash or work so jittery that it’s unbearable. For the most part it is quite an ok experience, though you’ll notice you’ve hit an Android app if you feel slight lag. It isn’t 100% smooth in terms of experience but it works, some better than others. Second drawback is with battery life on the Z10. It isn’t shall we say, a contender. It has a tiny 1,800 mAh battery, though replaceable, still puny in today’s standards. Sadly, the Z10 doesn’t make up for the tiny battery with ‘super power efficient OS’ or some other gimmicks either. It’s just plain small. I get it, first BlackBerry 10 device, first generation stuff isn’t always the greatest. However, BlackBerry has been in the game long enough to know that a first generation device that holds the ‘comeback’ responsibility must be able to compete with the norm. Processing power and other aspect is on par, just the battery. The Z10 was the turning point for BlackBerry and sadly they didn’t come in with a big enough boom. The battery will last you a day if you behave, but any sort of moderate use just drains the battery right down to 0 in half a day for me. Your mileage may vary, but #ProTip turn off WiFi when you’re outside and not using it. I’ve noticed on numerous occasions where my Z10 just kept prompting logging in to a WiFi hotspot and draining massive amounts of battery, not to mention heating up. This phone is awesome! It has a solid metal body! Oh wait..that’s the HTC One M8, my bad. Sadly, the Z10 comes in a plastic body. If you get the black one though, you have this weird but nice soft matte rubbery feeling back. Overall the plastic construction doesn’t disappoint. Fancy brushed aluminium finishes or foe plastic leather is not present on the Z10 but the plastic for the most part feels very solid. BlackBerry doesn’t disappoint when it comes to build quality in the past, and they certainly didn’t disappoint me this time round. The soft matte black back the Z10 has is prone to scratches given the nature of its material, but it’ll only show deep scratches, mine has a gash on the side having dropped the phone numerous times. The rest of the body will show little to no scratches as the plastic feels very solid and will only show deformations and dents if it lands on the corner. Nothing that is noticeable from the distance though, you really have to squint to notice. It doesn’t slip out of your hand easily and one-handed use is splendid. Be warned though, dropping this on asphalt or rocky surfaces might chip your sides, like it did mine. Wow, the ADHD on this post is strong guys. ANYWAYS, in conclusion, yes finally right? OK OK, in conclusion, the BlackBerry Z10 is a fantastic device, for once, a full touch device from BlackBerry didn’t make me want to rage quit with their phenomenal keyboard and typing experience is wonderful. Though the device is not without its flaws, it is still a wonderful device to use and productivity doesn’t lack with this one. This is my review of the BlackBerry Z10 after almost 2 years of use. It has served me very well and we will see if it’s replacement can beat the satisfaction I’ve had using this wonderful device. This is my review of the BlackBerry Z10, about 2 years later. With how promising this is, and the massive improvements in the later models like the Q10 and Z30, this Canadian company surely deserves attention for whats coming next. Look out for the BlackBerry Passport, a bizarre concept that might just blow your mind, rumored to be released in the coming months. With that, I rest my case here.
  11. Is there still going to be a wan show, and if so what time? Thanks everyone!
  12. Best idea ever. If your like me, then you love fantasizing about building computers, I spend a lot of time on online looking at cases, looking at parts, fans, WC loop parts, etc., and I can only wish that I had the money to just tinker around a build to my hearts content. Then I had an idea, a VR program for something like oculus, that contains all known popular computer parts, which would allow you to build just about any system you want in VR space. Just for the fun of building a badass looking computer. Would also be good for people to get a feel for a case before they bought it.
  13. Hey guys, Just wanted to promote an FPS game that i play called Cube 2 Sauerbraten. Its free, it can run on almost any PC and the gameplay is awesome! Check it out! http://sauerbraten.org/ I would add a spoiler if i knew how
  14. I found this really amazing Kickstarter and Thunderclap campaign. I am have 144hz monitor at home, and my current pc is a Asus ROG g750. I would love to be able to take my dual monitor set up everywhere, and I found this! Just wanted to share it with the whole forum! (Or the people that see this) Such a great idea. I want one Link to the product! http://duoscreentech.com/
  15. Source 1: http://www.razerzone.com/cortex/earlyaccess Source 2: https://www.facebook.com/minliangtan/posts/745883512136100 <Secondary for the obvious reasons. I didn't find any similar article using the available search functions (including Google). According to Source 2 (again, take that one with a grain of salt just in case since it's FB), it will be out in 2 weeks-ish. I think this is pretty awesome overall. It's something gamers have needed for a while imo. I'm surprised no one else came up with it first. Or that there aren't any other Open Source/Crowd-sourced projects out there that do this. If there are, I've never heard of them. Then again, I've never tried looking. Kinda wish it wasn't Razor, but at the same time, I like the way Razor makes software. I liked Comms (so sue me). I hope I like this just as much. Shameless: @LinusTech @Slick

  18. Alright so this is not my first build, however it is my first build with new or semi new components. I am super happy with how it cam out and i tried to build it with room for upgrades without actually have to make just about an entire new pc in order to upgrade which was an issue that i ran into with when trying to upgrade my lga 775 pc. So anyway a little background info about me, i am a YouTuber with both a tech channel as well as a gaming channel, i am in high school and so i needed to keep it semi cheap. Also something else to mention was that I only got into computers about a year ago and have since do not much else in life other than research computers. So anyway let's jump right into this: CPU: Alright so being a YouTuber and just in general i need something that would be great for multitasking, so i know in performance the i3 and fx 6300 are super close but as soon as you start to do some multitasking it really excels. I have actually been able to compare it to my friends cpu and i'll be honest just gaming they are very close but when ever we start multitasking he doesn't do nearly as well as i do. So it is safe to say that i am super stoked on the performance on this very cheap cpu. Also by sometime between Christmas and July i should have an 8350. MOBO: Ok so i am not to happy about this mobo but it isnt all that bad. However i am going to complain a little about it. 1. Only has sata 2 which will bottleneck the performance of ssd. 2. No usb 3.0 header so now i have no case usb ports. 3. No sli which is something i kind of hoped to do. But it is still decent and so i am still pretty happy with it. Gpu: Alright..... not super happy on this component. But for $60 i cant complain to much. I got it refurbished and now have fan issues. However the performance is actually not very bad it out performance my friends gtx 650, very slightly and i got it for half of the price as he got his for. I am hoping to have a new gpu by Christmas and it should be some where between a r9 270x and r9 290. Ram: It's ram..... not much to say. It does its job. But fairly soon i might get another 8gb due to a lot of editing, but then again it isn't very necessary. PSU: So although this is not the psu i originally intended on getting, i am really happy with it. It Does its job and is really quiet. I know i did not need 750 watts but i do plan on getting some very power hungry components. Case: This case is really really good. The only downside is that i cant upgrade to another mobo size because it only supports micro atx. But the build quality is awesome and it can support a lot considering it is only matx. WINDOWS: I Got it for free and is better than windows 8. HDD: I got the blue due to money issues. However i do intend on getting a crucial ssd some time fairly soon. But it was cheap and has a decent amount of storage so that's good. MONITORS: Currently i have a acer 900p 23" monitor, and another acer 900p 20" monitor . I would like to get some new 1080p ips dell monitors but that isnt super necessary right now. Alright so that was a lot of typing and don't think many people are going to read all of that but it was worth it. So anyway guys if you have any questions or comments definitely let me know because i would really like to hear what people have to say about this pc! Thanks for looking! Oh and i do planning on oc'ing but i need to get a new heat sink first probably a hyper 212 evo. Alright now good bye.
  19. Well, Hello everyone on the forums! As my second post on our lovely forums here, I would like to thank everyone who helped on my last post, that build never got made, but I have the list saved, and I'm sure that list will come in hand one day, so formally. Thank you everyone! Now, onto this post. I have a friend who came to me, asking me, to build him a gaming computer for a mere $400. As I love building computers, and even planning them, I accepted without hesitation. So now, I've compiled a list, with the things we need to buy. We do not need an aftermarket cooler, he has an HDD, he has a CD drive, I have the OS on a USB ready for him, no sound cards or network cards or anything needed, no extra fans or such, no monitors, no keyboard or mouse, he has both, and no speakers, he has some already. So now, I've compiled a quick list, with things already, note this is a little over $400, but he said this price was alright, so the closer to $400 you can get this, the better, but if you can improve anything and it stay under $450-$500, I can still show him and let him talk about. The build I made: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/RktsVn I currently can't get his PC specifications at the moment, but I know it is some stock HP computer, he isn't home to be able to check, but I know it's close to a quad-core, AMD, 2.9GHz, I think it has 4GB of ram, and his video card is a EVGA Geforce 610, he upgraded just the video card, without my consent of course, so it wasn't the best upgrade for his money, but I digress. He is looking for a custom gaming computer for $400 dollars or less. Linus forum posters, please help me with this project, it would be very appreciated! Thank you! -Giraffee
  20. Because we had our national holiday yesterday and I'm still not online as frequently as I should be due to ongoing health issues I didn't notice until today, but some time between July 30th and July 31st we generated our billionth credit! Now if only those were actual moneys, then we could be all Anyway, since they are not, we shall need to be content with numbers. Behold: Well then, on to the second billion! @Slick: Just thought you might be interested in this. EDIT: Shoutout on the WAN Show, 2014-AUG-08, 58:46 Min. http://youtu.be/nl8nhDHH07A?t=58m46s
  21. Just wanted to share this pretty awesome game with you. For those of you that dont know already, it is a third person robot crafting game, where you craft your own robots out of lego-like cube components and battle with them against other players in 10 vs. 10 matches. Since 8th of July it is on Steam early-access and completely FREE to play. I personally find it to be really really awesome. The gameplay mechanics are good considering its alpha development state, there are updates at least once a week with new blocks and maps and the amount of customization is huge. Its easy to learn and understand, but also quite strategic and has a good amount of depth to it due to things like the Tektree, where you research new items and blocks. Oh, and it less than 1GB of a download. http://store.steampowered.com/app/301520/ And you can also build aircrafts, here is mine
  22. Hello! Thank you for checking out my thread! Just recently (Saturday 19th July) i bought an intel core I5 4690k. It works perfectly so don't worry . I was just wondering, This will be my first time overclocking, can anyone give me any guidance / safety tips when overclocking such a beast? For example, voltage control, and ratios etc. I really don't want to break it . Thank you very much! If it helps, my motherboard is an Asus ROG Maximus VII Hero First time using the forums, looking forward to getting to know the community Thanks for reading -MysticMeatLoaf
  23. "Losing is fun!" - Official motto of Dwarf Fortress (It's literally in the tutorial.) Here is the official site: http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/ Dwarf Fortress is an ASCII art based game that is ... well ... extreme. In so many ways. And I love it so far. You can consider this my first impressions. Reasons this game exemplifies PC games for me: Incredible complexity Immense potential built upon that complexity Very Free (Lol) Very Moddable It requires time to truly experience and appreciate it. I feel I could describe the PC the same way in most cases. Although regarding "free", tons of freeware, but not much free hardware (giveaways are exceptions). Before I continue, read this please (it'd take about 2 minutes I think). It's a story about a fortress that experienced quite a bit of traumatic of events. So yeah. The possibilities are endless in most cases. Note, however, that the game is currently version 0.4.1 or so. It's been in development since 2006 and the developer considers it his life work from what I've heard. In fact, what are features and what are bugs is a very big grey area. Good luck with that. But regarding the bug vs feature topic, here's another story from Dwarf Fortress that gave me chills. Note that this is audio and is around 16:30 long or so. I feel it helps define DF for new people (as it did me). http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/09/18/dwarf-fortress-story-the-queen-is-now-available-and-you-should-listen-to-it/ I can't believe it took me so long to hear about this game. I found out about it on Slashdot (http://games.slashdot.org/story/14/07/09/0335213/dwarf-fortress-gets-biggest-update-in-years). The Tutorial is very sparse. It basically just gives you can overview of each thing that is about an inch deep. i.e. "Go here to do this stuff, you need these requirements to do it." and that's about it. I've yet to experience combat, but I'm waiting for my first Goblin hoard with anticipation. I feel like this is the type of game that your enjoyment is tied directly to how you choose to experience it. If the ASCII art graphics turn you off immediately, then ok, but I feel like the way the game separates you from what is happening (as the reader mentions in the above story "The Queen") is important for the story aspect. It, imo, pushes you to make your own story about the events unfolding via your imagination. Even though I consider myself to have a pretty bad imagination regarding creativiy, I'm doing well in this game enjoying the story I've given my characters personally. I guess that'd only appeal to a certain type of people, but I encourage everyone to try this game at least to the point of learning it enough to get a basic fortress started (a few rooms, some supplies, things that'd take you about 30 minutes to 1 hour of playing after you learn how to mine and such). You might love it like I do. You can stop reading this here and check out the game or post in this thread if you want. From here on out, it's just my experience with the game (somewhat blog form).
  24. Good evening LinusTechTips forum members and @FloRolf After months of being a hypocrite as usual saying that I was going to a get a headset (I was using earbuds ) or headphones + mic I finally got around to doing something about it last Saturday. I took the plunge and threw my monitor at my money customizing and buying the MMX 300 headset from Beyerdynamic. This is then a review of my process of having them sent to me, breaking them in over a period of 24 hours and using them for several gaming sessions since then. I will update this tomorrow (clock was 4 AM when I wrote this, but I fell asleep on the keyboard so I suppose I am posting it now although I will still need to take the actual pictures... ^^) with high quality pictures and some further thoughts from a few friends of mine I will include those in it's own section, but if you can't read reviews without pics in them then I am sorry to disappoint you, but you will just have to to come back later. Without further ado though, let's take the leap of faith we take every time we start reading these reviews and get into this. Comfort 10/10 I may as well say it now: I have customized this headset heavily using Beyerdynamics "Manufaktor" option for these so my experience when it comes to comfort and other things which you can customize there will be "biased" by how I customized them. I will add my options below so that you can see what I chose. I will also try to mention that this is something I have added when I say something about stuff which I customized. If you configure them the way I have though they are an absolute joy to use. You can sit for hours with them in the summer and still not actually really be bothered by sweat or any other issues that might cause you to want to take them off. They are just an absolute joy to use with even weight distribution, excellent sound isolation (too good for me, more on that later), this super soft pleather filled with memory foam (customized) and a headband which I can't really even feel. They sit firmly on your head (if you have adjusted them properly they won't even fall off your head if you start headbanging furiously which I suppose someone might do...). Over all I will just have to give full score here since I am not one for "saving" top scores just for the sake of it and even me who have never in my life actually used headphones before (#SpeakersOpPlsNerf) just find them to be a delight to use. 'Nuff said. Software ?/10 The headset itself doesn't actually come with any software which means that there is no "ultra fantastic" gamer grade reboundable stuff going on here, but I am frankly deeply grateful for that. For the moment I am just using a program called "Sound Blaster Pro Studio" which I actually don't even know how I came in possession of, but which is actually quite excellent. It gives me all the stuff I need to do so I am pleased. Quality 9/10 When it comes to pure and raw quality this headset is a true testament to german engineering and quality. It is handmade and you can truly feel that hardware problems which may have been there when this product first came on the market have been completely rooted out. The headset is made up of the aforementioned amazing pleather and memory foam (customized), loads of metal, and high quality plastic which really only seem to be there to keep weight down and which is not used anywhere metal might have been better to use. I also customized them to be this black soft touch with midnight blue accents which in my opinion looks really nice, but if you want something else then that is also possible My point being: The paint (or whatever this is) seems to be of excellent quality and should last for many, many years without wearing out. I suppose I need to mention the packaging as well, but it's really not much to speak of. It comes in a fantastic bag inside a box inside another box with manual and that is really it. 'Nuff said. As for why I gave this a 9 is because I find it quite, quite hard to adjust the headband size which might be due to slark inside the headband and that I think they should expand the headband adjustment in itself. I actually have to have them as far out as I can and even then I first thought "Unicorn, this headset doesn't actually fit me. FML...) before I found out that I simply just needed to adjust it a bit further down on my head since I apparently have a really high "middle head" (we learn until we die I suppose...). Nothing to major though, so I might just be a bit strict here... Audio Unicorn approved What is a audio review without actually talking about sound? As useless as a knife without a blade I suppose so let's get to it. I'll divide this section into two "sub sections". One where I talk about the headphones themselves and one where I talk about the microphone. I must also apologize, but I am no audiophile and these are my first proper pair of headphones(ironically enough though I have several speakers a lot more expensive than them) so I can be properly addressed to as a newbie. I will try to only use terminology which I actually completely understand, but I won't be able to provide the most amazing over the top, clinic review of the sound ever made and proposed to men since the beginning GabeN, but I will try. Headphones 9/10 Since I broke them in (no clue if I broke them in for long enough, but yeah...) I have been listening to as broad range of music as I could possibly imagine me ever listening to (Classic, EDM, Pop, Metal ect.) and as far as I can tell they have a solid bass performance with tight and punchy bass and good although not as detailed high end. This headset is though quite mid centric with fantastic detail while still not actually overpowering the other two so you won't have the problem of bass overpowering everything else just so that you just get slapped with a wave of low frequent sound obliterating everything else. It's actually a quite good thing that they are mid centric (talking gaming) because a lot of the sounds in games are in the mid end (whereas the rest are all mainly in the low end with some things like loud weapons being in the high end) . Overall: Their sound signature bears resemblance of that of the DT 770 as far as I know, but they are far less bass centered than those are supposed to be and an outright relief compared to other gaming headsets. Microphone 8/10 This is nothing like the normal semi garbage you find on lower end gaming headsets, but a proper mic stuck on a proper pair headphones. It's picking up the sound I want and leaving out the sound I don't like (such as the sound of my computer because I refuse to let my GPU run at over 60 degrees even in the summer, because unicorn) so voice comes through clear and loud. With the different stuff you can change in any proper software which you may want to install after you get them they sound outright fantastic. My reason for the lower score is purely because it's still a boom mic which I kinda have to agree with Linus on that is kinda stupid and that it got no inline or on ear cup mute and volume control. Actually doesn't seem to be an issue for me, but yeah it's still to be preferred. The mic doesn't mute when you put it out of the way either. The whole shipping and interacting with the company part I ordered this headset last Saturday (it's not night to Saturday here) and since no one is at work in the weekend I got the confirmation that Beyerdynamic had started making them on Monday morning. It apparently got sent very rapidly the same day with them saying that they would try to get it here in 3 weeks. Well yeah... Tuesday afternoon it was in Oslo (Norway's capital) and since the Norwegian mail is just derp and over all apparently not as efficient as german (#GottaMoveToGermanySomeDay) it got here on Thursday afternoon (albeit on my door so kudos I suppose). If anyone is interested in stalking me I live on a medium sized island outside of Bergen which is Norway's second largest city and is on the west coast. The whole process from deciding I wanted headphones to actually having them in my hands where excellent. The experience was excellent and I would say that it is a quite good testament to german industries excellent quality. Conclusion 9/10 They are an excellent headset with superb all-round audio quality, Orgasmic (I am sorry) comfort, amazing build quality and without what I would consider to be software bloatware. It might be Beyerdynamics first attempt at entering the gaming market, but even with their first attempt they are really outclassing 90% of the competition, albeit at the lack of few key things like mute/volume control in-line and a massive price. They have also had years to perfect them since they launched so yeah, there is that Overall though, if you got the cash and are like me whom doesn't like mics cluttering up my desk and just want to have a darn all in one solution at the same time as being able to customize them (I actually customized them with name as well...) then these are indeed fantastic. Mostly because they are german and I like things which is made in Germany Final thoughts rounding up: This is a high-end mic slapped on an audiophile grade pair of headphones marketed towards gamers with money. And it just kinda works. How I configured them Screenshot: http://puu.sh/9XUCM/599b21c407.png Hope you had fun reading this and that I didn't fuck up on my grammar (too lazy too proof read it now at least ) + learned something from inexperienced me ranting about headsets 4:30 AM in the morning. Signing out. -Odin/Titanicium/Mensch/Person with a unicorn fetish.
  25. The title mainly explains everything, but there are some additional details. 1. I am building this system for a friend. 2. I would like the $600 gaming PC build to be more future upgrade(able) while still being able to maintain a med-high frames on BF4. 3. I would like the $800 Gaming PC build to be able to play BF4 on Ultra. OS,monitor, keyboard etc. DO NOT need to be included. Any additional questions feel free to ask. Oh, if possible try your best to fit them in the Bitfenix Prodigy because he will be going to a lot of LAN Parties/Travelling. EDIT: US Dollars is the currency.
