Hello every one! First of all, thanks for your time. I need a budget PC for my University projects. I'm studying architecture I'm looking for a: psu + case + ram and mobo I got an: i3 8100 240gb ssd Sapphire rx580 nitro+ 4gb (got it in 4300mxn =210dlls in Amazon ) I'm in Mexico btw This are my questions: ¿How many watts do I need for this build? ¿Wich certificate should I look for in a Psu? Note I'm not looking forward to overclock or SLI 260dlls= 5500mxn it's all I have left ? Thank for your help!! I really appreciate it!

After building a Athlon 200ge based system for my parent's business I really got salty on how with cheap branded parts are now and now inspired to upgrade current pc and fully join the Ryzen hype train. I'm aiming for as getting the most out of my budget. I use Fusion 360, Revit and Autocad on a near daily basis (I'm still a student so not dealing with hundreds of assemblies or anything bigger than a 4 storey house), with the occasional use of Blender and After effects here and there. Don't game that much anymore just TW3 once in a while, but my sister plays Civ V on my pc religiously. (sometime when I watch her near the endgame of a match loading for the ai's turns takes +2 minutes lol) I saved up around 15000php ~ 285usd. I've landed on 2 options: Ryzen 5 2400g (@8,00php ~ 167usd) and the Ryzen 5 2600 (@11,250php ~ 213usd) (also maybe the 2200g; performance is not that great from what I'm seeing, but that price.) I've seen benchmarks of my options but no idea how it would translate to day to day use. To be honest my only real want from the upgrade is to not crash Fusion 360 after trying to move a joint with contact sets enabled. I barely have enough for just a 2600 and a A320 mobo, is getting a overclockable chipset from the get-go worth it? (never done overclocking before. does OCing make a difference on my workloads anyway?) And about ram size I hear going with a fast dual channel kits are optimal with the APUs, though I can only really afford a single stick of 4gb ddr4 when choosing the 2600 lol. My current pc is an 3rd gen i3 with a Gtx 750ti, 16gb and ram 500w Huntkey Psu. While reusing my GPU would be optimal, I would sell everything but the Hdd/Ssd if I have to. Thanks for reading!

A friend asked me to buy him a laptop and he is an architect. I'm used to giving advice for gaming laptops and PC's but I don't know that much regarding professional applications and what do they need. He told me he will be using Adobe Illustrator, CORELDRAW, AUTOCAD, SKETCHUP, and REVIT. The laptop must be around 800 to 1k USD. I will be buying it in Mexico. Maybe some Amazon laptops from the US will be available to ship here, but the prize will rise. Preferably a 15´ inch laptop, and no touchscreen is needed.

Hello, I am a long time watcher of LTT and finally decided to join the forums because I have a question I can not find a definitive answer to. We are ready to replace our CAD laptop workstations where I work, currently they are working on Dell Precision M6800 with i7-4710MQ CPU's, 8GB Ram, 250 Samsung SSD's and Quadro K3100M 4GB video cards. I am looking at two options to replace these computers, the first option is the Lenovo ThingPad P73 with an i7-9750H CPU, 16GB Ram, 512 NVMe SSd's and a Quadro P620 4GB video card or option 2 would be a Lenovo X1 Extreme Gen 2 with the same CPU, RAM and HDD but with a GTX 1650 Max-Q 4GB video card instead. My questions is what really is the performance difference between the Quadro and GTX? My engineers user SolidWorks 2019, AutoCAD 219 and KeyShot for design software. Could I get them the lighter X1 Extreme and still retain the performance of the P73?

Hi LTT community! LTT follower on YT for a couple of years now but never really came on the forums before so new here! As it happens, my current laptop is dying fast. The GPU is fried and sending constant panick attacks. Also the motherboard is fading away so it's time for something new! For the last 10 years I've been using MacBook Pro's, mainly because I was in university. However, now that I settled and got my own apartment I'm ready to go back to a PC as my main central power hub at home. For two years I've been back working on a Windows laptop at work and also all my work related software is running on Windows anyway. Looking at the current Mac line-up I'm really not sattisfied for the 'bang for the buck' ratio + the fact that current iMacs etc don't pack the latest tech that will become very much standard in the future. Some research I've done, but if you guys could help me with the final decisions or have some great tips for me that would be very much appreciated! Here's the format as demanded : ) 1. Budget & Location 2000-2500 Euro / The Netherlands 2. Aim MAIN: Producing Music in Ableton Live 10 Suite SECONDARY: Autodesk Revit 2019, Adobe CC 2020, AutoCAD, Rhino 6 - eventually some games (FPS )but not the main point of this build 3. Monitors 2x 4K 27” possible. However, I will start with my current 27" Dell monitor (non 4K) Might get one 4K display if budget allows it at the end of the build! 4. Peripherals Not needed, all set. - Logitech MX Master 3 - Logitech K840 Mechanical Keyboard. 5. Why are you upgrading? As mentioned above: My current laptop (Macbook Pro Early 2013) is dying, constant GPU panick attacks. No money for a brand new iMac, and also the current iMacs don’t have Wifi6, Ethernet 2.5 etc and RAM / SSD is ridiculously expensive. So back to PC it is! Lastly, I don't need a laptop anymore since I am not traveling back and forth to university anymore. A PC build seems to be the logical and wise choice! 6. THE BUILD what I've come up with so far: Motherboard (help)! Personal requirements: - Ethernet 2.5Gb - USB-C 2x or more - USB 3.1/2 gen 2 as many as possible - RAM 128 GB possible, - 2x M.2. slots for adding a second SSD storage in the future (1x 2TB SSD M.2. to start with I recon)! - The possibility to add 2 Graphic Cards in the future that work together - AMD? - Wifi 6 ? CPU - AMD 8 core, Ryzen 7 3800X 3.9 GHz. - ??? Good choice? Power vs price ratio looked very attractive. Overclockable? CPU Cooling Water cooling? Fans? Memory 64GB. - Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200 MHz 4x 16GB - ??? Storage - 1x Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2 TB M.2 2280 NVME - ??? Video Card Tier B+ - High End Build, best card value performance-price. slightly overclockable Needs to be able to run CAD software fairly well and be able to render some times and use live rendering software such as Enscape (plugin for Revit). - Radeon RX580 8GB - ??? Case Simple, elegant, clean, black, metal, no RGB needed. USB-C port and USB 3.1 gen 2 ports in the front Power Supply High end. Platinum certified or better? 750 W should do? Soundcard not needed, I have an external audio interface. - Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 gen 3 USB-C

Hi, a friend of mine needs a laptop which its main purpose will be AutoCAD work, both 2D and 3D. I had a rough idea of the specifications of the laptop she should get, but upon further researches on the mighty internet, I am more confused than when I started. I was trying to understand what component should be the most important for doing AutoCad work, since I knew that GPU were the most important part, but I wanted to be sure. Everybody seems to have their own opinion on that, there's who says that the GPU is the most important part, other say that's the CPU, other say that it's the RAM, and other even say that's the SSD, so I came here trying to get a clear answer. What is the most important component for an AutoCAD computer for both 2D and 3D work? Now for the laptop suggestion part. What she wants is a under 1000€ laptop that has great battery life, can do both 2D and 3D AutoCAD, and that has a maximum of 15 inch screen, possibly not too heavy to carry around. She doesn't care about thick bezels, aesthetics, thunderbolt, or gaming capabilities. For the CPU I was thinking that an i5 8250u or an i7 8550u would be great, but wasn't sure what to chose between the two, since I didn't understand how big of a role the CPU would play in AutoCAD; for the GPU I was thinking that a 1050 (non TI) would be fine, but reading around the forums I saw that many people said that an MX130 or MX150 would be plenty enough for this kind of workload. Also, I would install a 256 GB SSD, NVME if possible. She is an architect student, so I don't think that she will have to do a lot of heavy 3D work, just some medium-basic workloads. Also, if possible, a backlit keyboard would be a great feature, but it's not necessary. For her money is a big deal and if she could save a couple of hundred euros it would be great. That's why I'm searching really into what AutoCAD needs to work properly, because having to buy a laptop with an i5 and MX130 would cost about 650€, while an i7 with a 1050 would cost about 1000€ and that it's quite a big difference, so please don't suggest something with an i7 8700HQ and a 1070 MaxQ, because it just won't be feasible. I used Intel/Nvidia parts just because it seems that there are more laptops with them, but AMD components are welcome, if they can satisfy the requirements. So, recapping Requirements: AutoCAD 3D (medium-light workload) Great battery life Max 15 inch screen Under 1000€ Backlit Keyboard (optional) Location: Italy.

I need to transfer the blocks and position of them from one drawing to another. When i just ctrl+c & ctrl+v, it appears in the new drawing, able to save, but when i close and reopens the file, some blocks vanish entirely. I am attaching some screenshots if that may clarify the problem. In the screenshot you can see the circular block is not there in the new drawing even after copying it. It vanished itself when I reopened the drawing. So is there a method to transfer the entire blocks from Old to New Drawing?

Hi guys, I'm planing to buy new monitor for my PC, there are so many options and different prices, i god dizzy and came here for help. thats my build (just in case): ASUS GTX 1080TI (Poseidon), Ryzen 1700X, Crosshair VI Hero (WIFI AC), all overclocked and watercooled. i was looking at these monitors: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0728JH3RQ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A1EG1PSPAL6ZIA&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079FV8S5M/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01C83BE6U/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 (for asus swift monitor i read so many bad reviews... waxnot expecting that) Main use of this monitor would be for architectural work, like CAD, as well as smooth gaming experience. i was told that curved screen would make me see that lines in cad are curved too. i dont know how much of truth is that, probably experienced people here know more about that. and about the budget, i dont want to spend over 1000 USD, if i can get 2 good monitors for that price even better. also this G sync Freesync messed up my whole mind about gaming... hope anyone would be able to help me, thanks a lot!

Hi everyone! i´m new in this community, so many thanks for letting me be part of it I´m currently looking a new laptop for architecture with a budget of 1100€, European market (probably Germany or Spain). We will use it for architecture software: mostly 2D plans (Autocad and Vectorworks), sometimes medium-detailed projects in 3D heavy software+Renderings (3ds Max, Vray, Revit, Rhino) and medium-big (1GB) Adobe files (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign). Of course Microsoft Office, movies, social media, etc. The "ideal" laptop should have a decent 15,6" IPS Matte good-color screen (80-90% sRGB), i7-8750H CPU (if possible, if not maybe i5-8300h), 8-16GB Ram, SSD+HDD and a decent-good Nvidia GPU (not for gaming, but CAD/3D-software/PSD; will avoid Quadros because of the price/performance) Decent portability, so if its under 2.2kg would be top (up to 2.5kg) and decent cooling system / not too hot temperatures at least under medium load like working with Autocad or Photoshop; renderings could be an exception. Battery 3hours for watching a long movie would be enough. Also, no dragons / excessive gaming designs, as we will take it to the office sometimes. After a loooong research, I discovered that most budget gaming laptops have a mediocre display (TN or IPS with 40-50% sRGB), and most proffesional ones are too expensive (+1500€). For example i really like the form factor of the new Lenovo Legion Y530, but the display is mediocre and the 144Hz is still not available... My actual list is the following: - Optimus IX Clevo N850EK1 (2.5kg) with I7-8750H, 16GB Ram, 1TB+256GB SSD, GTX1050Ti 4GB and IPS144Hz 72% NTSC LED Widescreen matte (no SO) for 1120€ https://www.pcspecialist.es/ver-formulario/optimusIX-15/Optimus-IX-Ti/ - Recoil II TongFang GK5CN6Z (2.2kg) with I7-8750H, 16GB Ram, 1TB+256GB SSD, GTX1050Ti 4GB and IPS60Hz 72% NTSC LED Widescreen matte (no SO) for 1140€ https://www.pcspecialist.es/notebooks/recoil-II-15/ - Gigabyte Sager 15-G8 Clevo? (2.5kg) with I7-8750H, 16GB Ram, 1TB+256GB SSD, GTX1050 4GB and IPS 60Hz 72% NTSC matte (Windows 10) for 1270€ https://www.izarmicro.net/ordenadores/portatiles-gaming/156-pulgadas/art-12099-gigabyte-sabre-15-g8 - HP Pavilion Gaming -cx0005ng (2.2kg) with I7-8750H, 16GB Ram, 1TB+128GB SSD, GTX1060 3GB and IPS 144Hz 72% NTSC matte (Windows 10) for 1300€ https://www.cyberport.de/?DEEP=1C24-62H&APID=117&gclid=EAIaIQobChMItcfE-am63AIVzLTtCh2itg9FEAQYASABEgJW6vD_BwE What do you think about these models? any better choice? what about the temps of the Optimus IX and Gigabyte Sager 15-G8 (I think they are both the same Clevo N850EK1)? I´ve read that the 850s tend to be hot...but its really difficult to find a good review of this specific one... Many thanks for your kind help!! Victor

I need some advice from anyone that can give it, I have been asked to look into software that can design gardens, so we can show customers what their gardens will look like after our work. I came across one piece of software 'Architect 3D' which cost's from £24 to £144 and it can import designs from Autocad. Now looked at Autocad itself and that cost's £1,758.00/ year. Now Autocad I can get a trial basis off for 30 days, the Architect 3D I can not, so with this price difference to me the Architect 3D seems a bit too cheap. In all honesty, when I was asked about this, the first idea that came to my head was a piece of software using the Unreal engine or another 3D game engine so we could walk the customers around and create a simple world for them based of the design of their own home. Does anyone know of a piece of software that can do this, basically where I can draw a 3D world, place items like tree's garden bench's, fences and so forth in it then using a 3D engine walk around it? Thanks in advance

Is there a command for trimming 3d solids like the surface trim command? It's irritating because the material i am modeling is only 1/8 thick so it is basically like a surface but there's no way to trim using another 3d solid that is only 1/8 thick. Thanks to anyone with any expertise!

Hi all! I'm building a PC for a relative who is a self-employed architect. They do all of their own 2D and 3D rendering on software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Sketchup and other 3D software I forgot the names of. I've put together a few builds, however I have a few questions that should have simple answers: 1. GTX 1070 or P2000? (In Australia the P2000 = $595, GTX 1070 = $650) 2. Say I have 1 system with two graphics cards: A GTX 1050 and a P1000. Will the 3D software (if any or some) use both cards, or only the one that provides better performance? Many thanks!

Im going off to college for engineering and am commuting. I already have a desktop for most of my engineering tasks. I may need to use my laptop a little bit for AutoCad software though. I probably wont be running insane projects on it yet and if I do ill probably just be designing the small components not the entire assembly in the future on the laptop. With this in mind I was wondering whether Intel UHD 620 integrated graphics would get the job done or if I would want a dedicated graphics card. I am asking because I am either going to get the LG gram as I can upgrade the storage and ram in the future but it was 620 integrated graphics. My other choice in laptop was the asus zenbook Ux430UN as even though stoarage and Ram are not really upgrade-able it has a dedicated gpu. My budget was 1500 dollars.

Looking for the best laptop for college as an Engineering student. I am commuting so their may be times I may not be able to get to my desktop at home. So I was looking for something that is preety portable and small but also is good for using AutoCad software. preferably something where i can upgrade RAM and Storage in the future. It probably would need a dedicated graphics card as well.

Ok, I need help I have a Lenovo ideapad 700 laptop and it is serving me perfectly, just the battery was crap from day one ,putting out a maximum of 2.5h of internet-less movie reproduction at medium brightness just to totally fail a few months back, giving me a laptop that is more of a desktop. The battery refurbishing or buying a new one would cost 200+ US$ since there isn't a a service provider for that type of battery in my country, and the battery capacity wasn't good enough when it was new... I need a laptop that i can take to college and be able to go at least a couple of hours of cordless work (5+ ideally) and that like in the title it can support photoshop and autocad. My main laptop/desktop would be the main workstation and this would be for class workflow since i am an architecture student. I have scoured the internet shops here and so far i have found only LG gram for about 1300$, Windows Surface starting at about 1500$ and so on. Cheaper variants like the amazon most popular Acer Aspire e15 is not available in my country at all and amazon would charge me 350$ price + 175$ shipment. So far as the shops here go the cheapest variant is Macbook air starting at around 1200$. Can you list a few cheaper laptops with decent specs and battery life, so i can check the availability here. PS. I have no brand/OS/spec preferences just please no Chromebooks my college internet sucks and Im forced to use mobile data on my phone (thank god for 4G) Thanks a lot

Hello all, At my place of work, we deal with larger file sizes from AutoCAD. Typically anywhere between 3-5+ gigs. There are two main locations we work from, with a pretty decent 50/50 fiber connection shared between the two, we run into problems when transferring files from one office to the next. It ends up capping itself to around 350 kb/s, which is very frustrating and extremely time consuming. Our storage box (which is acting kind of like a server for our computers to upload/download files too) is losing connection randomly (I believe to be due to a hardware issue) and we need a longer term solution. Unfortunately, the budget isn't particular high so a Storinator solution isn't viable. We have about 10 TB of storage, which would be expanded upon in the future. Our normal file server for the rest of the company is roughly 2TB and there are no plans due to expense to upgrade that one. This has to be a separate solution. I've had a couple of ideas which might help, however I'm unsure which path to take and would appreciate any input/suggestions. 1.) Build two storage desktops that would act like one server. Bridge them together so when one file is upload, it would be mirrored in the other office location to be used by those employees. Problem: 350 kb/s transfer speed between the two offices. 2.) Get a used server and load it up with storage and put into our server racks. Again problem: 350 kb/s transfer speed. 3.) Cloud storage. Problem: Most bottleneck upload/download speed, regulates cost in time Thanks, Sam

Hello! I work for an architecture company, and I am looking for a laptop that can run the programs that I use at work. The most strenuous program we use is probably AutoCAD (a software used for making floor plans and rendering parts of the building). We mostly just use it to design two-dimensional floor plans however. If you could help me make some decisions as to which of the following components are a necessity, that would be greatly appreciated. - 8 or 16gb Memory - Hard Drive or SSD or Both - 7th or 8th generation i7 - 4gb or 6gb Dedicated Video Memory Any specific laptop suggestions would be great as well. Thank you

Having a hard time picking parts, im on a very tight budget. What build would run autocad BETTER 1ST OPTION: CPU: intel i5 7500 GPU: GTX 1050 Motherboard: MSI H110M RAM: 8GB Storage: 1TB WD . . 2ND OPTION: CPU: Ryzen 3 1300x GPU: GTX 1050Ti Motherboard: MSI B350 RAM: 8GB Storage: 1TB WD . . on the second build I traded the i5 for a Ryzen 3 1300x, then use the money saved To get a B350 motherboard for overclocking and a better graphics card “GTX 1050Ti . what build would run autocad better. Most bang for my buck. Also gaming is in mind

Question! So my current rig is Ryzen 1800x 4.0ghz with a gtx1080 and 16gb of 3000-speed ram, My buddy is updating his rendering rig and we were wondering would it benefit me any to have a Quadro card for 3d and video editing and my gtx1080 for gaming? And would adobe premiere pro, after effects, solidworks and autocad use both cards?
