Telstra, a major telecommunications provider in Australia has been fined by the courts for ripping off its mobile phone customers by signing them up for a premium billing service they did not want, without their permission, and charging them a monthly subscription fee for the service, often without customers even aware they were being billed. The premium billing service was a system where the telecommunications provider offered billing services to third party companies where the billing would be charged via the account holders monthly phone bill rather than traditional payment methods. The service was activated as default for all of their customers and many customers weren't aware they were being billed for a service they didn't use. In some cases people were charged for the services when they were assigned a new phone number that had previously been associated with a different person who had signed up for the service (either intentionally or unintentionally). It has been revealed that the company has made over AU$60million from unlawful charges related to its premium billing services. The telecommunications company was fined only a fraction of this sum, being ordered to pay only AU$10 million in fines. This means after fines and legal fees, the Telco could be up to $50 million in profit from their dubious business practice. It goes on to say that Telstra was aware that it was ripping off customers and that doing so was an intentional act by the company. The charges were added to customers phone bills rather than being separately billed to their credit card or other payment method. This meant that users who did not review their monthly phone bill may not have noticed they were being charged extra for these services. Those who did discover the charges had difficulty cancelling the charges or seeking a refund for the charges as Telstra claimed that the customer would have to seek a refund from a third party company that Telstra was providing the billing service on behalf of. This is just one of the many reasons why Telstra is colloquially known as "Tel$tra" or "Hellstra". It's pretty sketchy in the way they billed customers without confirming with the customer before signing them up to expensive premium services. The fact that people were being billed for services that were tied with their phone number, even if it was previously another person who possessed the number that signed up for the service, just shows how little the company cares about its customers and that they don't give a damn that they're ripping them off. I'm sure their entire plan was to hope customers didn't realise they were being billed. Telstra is known to be absolutely horrendous when it comes to cancelling a service or trying to get a refund for incorrect charges, so I can't imagine the hoops that people had to jump through and number of phone calls to the service department that had to be made for someone to have the service cancelled after noticing it on their account. There is some hope for people who may have been incorrectly charged for the premium service, as it may be possible to seek a refund from the telecommunications giant for the charges. Users who have already contacted the company or the Telecommunications Industry Ombusman who have yet to receive a refund, should receive some communication from Telstra regarding a refund shortly. For other people affected you will need to contact Telstra yourself and seek a refund. Hi, Just wanted to know how to start coding with android apps to make them compatible with Android TV. I've tried the sideloader method which is terrible with touch screen user interface whilst using my TV's remote. I've also tried contacting the Devs regarding when they are going to bring support or Android TV. So I like to know what software and codes I should use. Cheers.

Hey all I have been planning my PC build for a long time now since late 2015, and over the past 3 years due to technological advances and financial issues, I never had the chance to start saving and buying many parts, and so throughout this period, my build has changed considerably since to match the current PC trends and take advantage of the best tech for the budget I have allocated. Now right to the point, I have purchased my case; an NZXT Phantom 820 gunmetal a while ago before the whole tempered glass, RGB and brushed aluminum trend came along and now it feels a bit dated for my now RGB build, and so I'd rather use it for something else (it was also an ex demo unit that has the filters missing and I can't be bothered trying to look for replacements, so I'll make my own whenever I use it). I would like some suggestions for a full ATX case with plenty of room for drives (yes we storage hoarders exist), room for a radiator, tempered glass and would look great in a full RGB build. I'd prefer to only spend $500 aud max The build: (its for gaming and workstation, I won't respond to comments about changing my specs) https://au.pcpartpicker.com/user/OtherSideGuy/saved/G64CJx

Hey guys. I recently made a post about trying to resolve a router issue I have had, but nothing has fixed it so I have decided that I will be taking it back for a refund and getting a new router. I would love to hear some recommendations about what to get as I am not too sure what is good. All I know is I have had terrible experience with Netgear and Billion so I would prefer to avoid them if possible (also, Netgear has horrendous customer support). Also not a fan of Cisco routers as I don't really want to use a command line to configure everything. I only have a basic understanding of networking. The router needs to have VDSL2, as I am getting NBN in my area (I'm in Australia). A quick TLDR of NBN; all areas now receive FTTN. I would love to hear opinions and suggestions from those who have good experience in networking if possible as I have had issues with recommendations from people who aren't too good in the area (yes, that is my fault). I want a router that is very reliable and has good features if possible. My budget is about $300 - $350 AUD ($235 - $275 USD). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I'm no writer so this will be brief I just wanted to get some Jesus in my life so I googled "what did jesus say". (As you can see this is a reenactment) Here is what I got. (Remember reenactment) So I clicked the top result and was presented with this brick wall. Notice how I have no way of accessing the site? The url is at the top of a google search so it should (in theory) be safe. Plus, my pathetic anti-virus has marked the url as safe. Discuss

This is a question to all Aussie based users: where are some good places to buy PC parts, both new and second-hand? Links would be much appreciated. I'm from NZ but will be visiting Melbourne, Sydney, and the Gold Coast in just over a week. I'm mostly looking for a new GPU, probably a 6GB 1060 and if I can find one significantly cheaper than at home I'll probably pull the trigger. Also what's your second hand market like? I'm assuming crap but not as crap as ours due to the larger population.

Hello all, I am a 17 year old Asian student living in Australia right now. Frustrated with my outdated 6 year old Lenovo Thinkpad, my parents have offered to purchase a new laptop for my final year of secondary school. They said that they offer a maximum budget of $1500 AUD, but I can add some funds from my own part-time job so probably max looking like $2000 AUD. I am looking for a recommendation for a laptop that is: Within $1500 to $2000 AUD Able to get in Australia Something that is capable of doing work well, chill on and game on too. Only game I will play is CS GO really Something that has good-specs, good CPU and memory Preferably has a separate GPU but integrated is fine as long as it can run CS GO (XD) RN I'm leaning towards a Dell Inspirion 7000 15 Gaming, but I would like other input. Thank you, I would research more myself but I would like to hear from seasoned veterans in the technology field. Thank you again.

As this is my first gaming rig, I need some help in terms of compatibility, some cheaper parts that have the same if not better performance, etc. As I live in Australia the prices are in AUD and replace some of the prices as PC PartPicker does not have them. I do work in 3D (revit and inventor, with blender on the way) and building a new pc to replace my crappy laptop will become a huge benefit, with a bonus in playing Games at 1080p or 1440p gaming over 30fps if achievable (as in the likes of GTA V on ultra and rainbow six seige on ultra). Mouswe and Keyboard and other peripherals have already been covered. *These prices are based of my research https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/YgQFV CPU Intel - Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor $454.00 CPU Cooler Corsair - H100i GTX 70.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler $149.00* Motherboard MSI - B250M PRO-VD Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard $99.00 Memory Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory $198.00 Storage Samsung - 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive $132.50 Seagate - BarraCuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive $62.00 Video Card MSI - GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Founders Edition Video Card $647.60* Case Corsair - 350D MicroATX Mid Tower Case $128.00 Power Supply EVGA - SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply $129.00 Optical Drive Asus - BC-12D2HT Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer $89.00 Operating System Microsoft - Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit ~$100 Wireless Network Adapter Asus - PCE-AC56 PCI-Express x1 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi Adapter $67.00 Monitor Asus - VX248H 24.0" 1920x1080 60Hz Monitor $249.00 Sound Card Creative Sound Blaster Omni External Card $109.00*

Hi all, Currently overseas with work, and wanting too purchase a prebuilt rig so when I return I can jump into the action. I have a budget of < $3000 AUD; and am abit unsure as too which prebuilt rig to purchase through PCCG. Scoped out Scorptec; however they seem more overpriced than PCCG, so PCCG ticked the box. Below are the builds I am looking at (I am assuming the most exp is the best pic; although feel this may not be the case so want recommendation, what would you choose?) https://www.pccasegear.com/products/39319/pccg-cobalt-1070-gaming-system https://www.pccasegear.com/products/39427/pccg-ryzen-elite-1080-gaming-system https://www.pccasegear.com/products/40054/pccg-hellcat-1080-gaming-system https://www.pccasegear.com/products/39956/pccg-battlebox-1080-gaming-system Is it even worth considering the 1070 build, or disregard that all together and stick to the 1080s? If you say the 1080s, then will the cheaper Ryzen 7 be still high end saving me $$? NOTE - I am intending to use this purely for gaming (no streaming, rendering, photosop etc), I also don't return until Nov (Should I await and see if prices drop / release of Intel 8th Gen?) Peripherals I have awaiting whichever build I purchase are: Corsair K65 LUX RGB Mechanical Keyboard Corsair M65 Pro Gaming Mouse Corsair MM800 RGB Polaris Gaming Mousepad Acer Predator 24" 144hz 1080p G-Sync monitor (Only going a single monitor set up) p.s As stated, I want to go prebuilt, so please no comments about building rigs / cost comparisons etc... Much appreciated! Morryjr

Hey All. I'm a teenager from Queensland Australia. Our internet its terrible. 1mb upload and around 7mb download is an utter joke. Both my parents are accountant and do all their work online. We also have 3 teenagers in the house all older then 16. If everyone is online, the internet is unusable, however my parents need it for work. We need a better solution. We are with Telstra. Are their any Aussies out their who have a solution? We cant get the NBN, So dont even suggest that. Thanks Alex
