1. Hello, I am trying to finish my build but keep running into some issues with the system stuck on ACPI Initialization (code 78). Spec Details - Motherboard - Asus Pro WS WRX80E CPU - AMD Threadripper Pro 5955WX GPU - A2000, RTX 2070, RTX 3070 RAM - 1. 32GB kit - Sk Hynix 16 GB 2Rx8 PC4-3200AA -RE2-12 2. 128GB kit - Crucial 16 GB DDR4-3200 UDIMM 1.2 V CL 22 BIOS - Version 1201 2023/06/07 PSU - Asus ROG Thor 1200 Watts OS - no OS (haven’t decided) Details on the issue - Then CPU was harnessed from a Lenovo P620 in working condition with the Sk Hynix kit. The motherboard in the current system has been replaced since the initial purchase had an error code ‘C0’ which has no reference in the manual nor Asus support had a clue. Got a replacement and now run into POST code ‘78’ (ACPI Initialization) with the DRAM amber/yellow led ‘ON’. Troubleshooting steps thus far - 1. Reseated the RAM 2. Reseated the CPU 3. Re wired the cables 4. Tried different RAM configurations in different slots (yes the same pairs of sticks) 5. Re flashed the BIOS with no errors (no way to tell as the instructions for flashback mention of the BLUE led on the IO blinks and then goes out indicating success) 6. Reset BIOS (CMOS clear) 7. Tried all the GPU’s I had (not in pairs obviously) 8. Going to swap the CPU and Sk Hynix RAM back to the Lenovo P620 to check if I haven’t damaged anything in the swap process Anybody has any idea on how to get this resolved?
 2. Hey all, I have a lingering issue with an Aorus B550I Pro AX Rev 1.1 Motherboard hosting an AMD Ryzen 5600X CPU. My USB ports not only are slow and throttle to 0 constantly, but they disconnect entirely. Copying files to a USB bounces between 8MB/s and 0, and devices will randomly disconnect. I did some research and people suggested newest BIOS, didn't work, manually setting PCIE to Gen3, also didn't work. Has anyone else come across this USB issue and was there a fix to it? Or do I need to continue to contact Gigabyte support? Thanks ahead of time!
 3. So I need b550 mini/micro board, what's the best board for max 120€? Things that are not necessery : WI-FI, usb c port Things needed : atleast 6 usb type a on the back, some argb headers, x4 ram slots, rgb on the board would be nice addition, water pump headers and x2 m.2 slots would be great Rest specs for my pc : r5 3600, rx 6700 non xt, 600w psu, 32gb ram, 1tb m.2, x2 2tb hdds, x 5 rgb fans P. S NOT PLANNING TO UPGRADE CPU AND GPU ANY TIME SOON. Tnx for help
 4. Hi, I use all AMD machine: cpu Ryzen 7 7800X3D with MSI Radeon rx 7900xt running on win11. Fairly new pc, having It for more that 4 months (Build It myself, but now I'm starting to regret It). Today top 20% of my screen flickers (or maybe gets displaced) at random intervals and system during that sometimes gets a hiccup. On a first glance It looks like driver issue or something with a hardware, but I reinstalled the lower version of the adrenaline driver (From 23.12.1 to 23.11.1)and saw that the flicker happend on that update once as well so I'm worried. What else do You suggest, please help. I was saving for that machine for a long time, don't want to lose It :I
 5. Hi there! I'm building my first pc and i've run into an issue while installing my cpu cooler. I'm working with a B550 Tomahawk Max motherboard and I'm trying to install a Peerless Assassin 120 SE cpu cooler for my AMD cpu. However, the standoffs that came with the Assassin 120 are not fitting onto the motherboard at all. One of the standoffs slipped on no problem, but the other three won't fit on the motherboard at all. What should I do in this situation? Any recommendations? Thank you.
 6. Hi All, TL;DR Do either the MKV container or MP4 container support 4K AV1 content with HDR10? I've been having issues getting it to work. More Details: Recently I've been backing up my own and my father's Blu Ray collections which consist of both regular Blu Rays and 4K/HDR Blu Rays. I haven't had any trouble with the regular Blu Rays yet, but lately I've noticed some strange issues with the 4K HDR ones. For some context, I recently got an AMD RX 7800XT which has support for both AV1 decoding and encoding. I decided I should try to compress the 80GB 4K Blu Rays using AV1 because why not! The movie I used as a test subject was my Dune 4K Blu Ray, which contained both Dolby Vision metadata and HDR10 metadata according to dovi_tools The 4K Blu Rays are encoded using HEVC/H265 which my graphics card should support for decoding, and starting with the 1.7.x builds of Handbrake, they also support AMF AV1 encoding so I gave that a try. I found out that Handbrake doesn't support AMF decoding at all, so I was limited to around 40fps by the CPU decoding. This wasn't that big of a problem personally, but still kinda irritating. So I used the FFMPEG command line executable since they support AMF decoding through both the existing DirectX 11 Video Acceleration API and the new Vulkan Video API. This did technically work, and I was now able to transcode at closer to 80fps! Although when I went back to play the 4K AV1 MP4s, VLC wasn't tone mapping the HDR properly and everything was washed out. Strange. I checked that the original media was tone mapped properly by VLC, which it was (not desaturated at least). I did a bit of research and found out that some people were reporting that the MP4 container doesn't support all of the metadata needed for HDR (which I eventually proved false... Sort of) so I retired the transcoding but now into an MKV file. Same problem, although the HDR10 metadata was being detected by VLC, just without tone mapping for some reason. So the AV1 MP4 didn't have the proper metadata and wasn't getting tone mapped, and the MKV had the correct metadata but still wasn't being tone mapped. I re-tried the same steps, but instead of AV1, I used HEVC so basically I was just compressing the original by reducing the bitrate. That time, both as an MP4 and MKV, the HDR10 metadata and tone mapping worked properly in VLC. I was able to use dovi_tools again to verify that HDR10 metadata was present in at least the AV1 MKV as well as the HEVC MKV and MP4, so I'm beginning to think it might be a problem with VLC. I tried using Handbrake anyway to create the 4K AV1 files instead of just FFMPEG and confirmed the same exact behavior; metadata was present for both codecs in and MKV container, but VLC didn't tonemap the AV1 video properly. I made sure VLC was updated, same with FFMPEG and Handbrake. Any insights would be welcome
 7. So I need some motherboard suggestions for little future proofnes, my current b450 board has served me 3+ years(allmost 4) and I what's some upgrade. My needs: *Amd board, cuz my cpu is r5 3600(not planning to upgrade soon) *I think nothing more than b550 chipset(but if the budget allows(see below) it can be better) *preferably(but other options are very welcome) Asrock board (my last 10 years have used asrock boards) * has argb/water pump connector 1 or more *has atleast 6 usb type-a ports on back *midrange price point(90-120€ would be very good) *pci-express 4 port DON'T REALLY NEED!!! *Wi-Fi (have wired connection) My components: Case - Kolink Citadel Mesh mATX CPU - ryzen 5 3600 GPU - sapphire radeon rx6700non xt Ram - 32 gb kingston fury ddr4(yes I know ddr4) Psu - Be quite System power 9 600w semi modular Cooling - 5 Aigo rgb fans whit controller(will change them after motherboard upgrade) Tnx for help
 8. Hello! 9. so, i want to get a pc, small issue, i dont know whether i should get intel or amd, its the choice between the amd ryzen 7 7700 or the intel i7 12700. The ryzen 7 seems better but some of my friends say amd support is worse and amd is glitchy, please help
 10. Hey guys, Ive been rocking my Ryzen 9 7950X for the past year. I bought a NZXT Kraken Z Series Z73 360mm AIO and the performance is not what I was hoping for. Is there a better cooler I should invest in or should I try to undervolt/ mess with Ryzen master? I've tried to use Ryzen Master before but couldn't quite get a handle on it. Any advice would be great! thank you!
 11. Hi Guys, I've been thinking of upgrading my GPU. My current setup is: CPU: Intel i7-8700k (OC 5 GHz) MoBo: Asus ROG Strix Z370 Gaming-E PSU: EVGA G2 850W PSU GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080 Ti Monitor: Asus ROG PG348 (G-Sync Ultrawide- 3440x1440, 100Hz Refresh Rate) So the two options I have been thinking about are: ASUS GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 12GB ProArt OC Graphics Card Sapphire Radeon RX 7900 XT 20GB NITRO+ Vapor-X Graphics Card Both cards are priced the same at £810 ($1025 USD) I do a bit of gaming, racing sims (asseto corsa, projects cars, forza, eurotruck sim) also play FPS (COD BO, CS and similar) as well as games such as flight sim, shadow of the tomb raider and city skylines similar. I also do cad modeling using Solidworks and a bit of autocad. I do use photoshop and Lightroom for photo editing. The system is in a Cooler Master MASTERCASE H500P MESH, Plenty of room for any size card. My main concern is that if I switch to AMD I'll have issues with the monitor, but then if I stay with Nvidia the concern is that I'm not getting the best performance for my money.
 12. Budget (including currency): 400 Country: usa Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: gta sa, oblivion, nfsu, etc. Games of that Era. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I have had this acer aspire for over 15 years, it has a ht2000 motherboard, 512 mb of ram, and a single core athlon 3500+. I never use it anymore but it has sentimental value as it belonged to my grandfather originally. I recently had the idea to just dress it up in the best components of its own Era, just to play some old games on it. Whether it's good by today's standards is irrelevant, it's more of a pet project. The issue I want to address before I buy anything for it is compatibility for the motherboard, it is an am2 board, but being relatively new to computers in general really I'm just unsure of whether any am2 processor will do or not, nor am I particularly familiar with parts of that Era. Any input on the matter would be very much appreciated.
 13. I have a very absurd problem. I decided to switch from BOINC to F@H for a while for my RX480 and while it seemed things were chugging along, I checked the "Advanced Control" to find that my GPU folding slot has been marked as failed. Here's the system info from FAHControl (Note: F@H reports my install as Windows 10 Enterprise, it's actually Windows 11 Pro for Workstations 22H2) And there's nothing in the logs elaborating on the failure I decided to check my drivers to see perhaps an update had dropped but oddly enough, there doesn't seem to be a PRO update since Oct '22 Oddest of all, while doing some troubleshooting steps as suggested by the internet, I learned that my OpenCL drivers are completely unsigned... they're the only things that are unsigned The simple solution would be just to switch to the regular, Adrenalin drivers and call it a day but I've got two questions. I use PRO drivers for stability and that's worked out so far, BOINC (PrimeGrid) had no problems doing number crunching using the GPU so why does F@H have a problem (if it has a problem with that at all) Why are there unsigned OpenCL drivers on my computer? How'd they get there? I've never in the history of the system install allowed for the installation of unsigned drivers (i.e. I've kept driver signature enforcement enabled). I have no hardware that needs unsigned drivers.
 14. Essentially what I want is a new motherboard that doesn't feel like I'm downgrading my motherboard but it costs less than my taichi mb. I spent around $270 for that mb and It was a good board but I don't want to spend that much again for an older generation cpu. I bought my mb 3 years ago and I'm pretty sure it's out of warranty by now. The most important thing for my new mb is that it has 3 m.2 slots since I have 3 ssds.
 15. I recently upgraded my PC from intel to AMD and DDR5 Motherboard and ram. Running games is no problem until around 10-5minutes of playtime where it crashes and boots me to desktop often with no error. I have retrieved these crash reports from my system: 12/28/2023 8:31 AM Application Error Faulting application name: wallpaper32.exe, version: 2.3.0.26, time stamp: 0x651c8df7
Faulting module name: d3d11.dll, version: 10.0.19041.3636, time stamp: 0xfe2e2f13
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x0011d1e6
Faulting process id: 0x4340
Faulting application start time: 0x01da3963e0695939
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\wallpaper_engine\wallpaper32.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\d3d11.dll
Report Id: ebb51227-c90f-410e-82a8-521df5504917
Faulting package full name:
Faulting package-relative application ID: 12/29/2023 12:24 AM Application Error Faulting application name: eldenring.exe, version: 2.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x648ff746
Faulting module name: eldenring.exe, version: 2.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x648ff746
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x0000000001e753d5
Faulting process id: 0x830
Faulting application start time: 0x01da39ece7aabeb9
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ELDEN RING\Game\eldenring.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ELDEN RING\Game\eldenring.exe
Report Id: eb8cb108-f75b-4a98-a860-ec2844ab50a6
Faulting package full name:
Faulting package-relative application ID: 12/29/2023 5:29 AM Application Error Faulting application name: eldenring.exe, version: 2.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x648ff746
Faulting module name: nvwgf2umx.dll, version: 31.0.15.4633, time stamp: 0x6570b433
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x000000000040a830
Faulting process id: 0x45c4
Faulting application start time: 0x01da3a17e129e40e
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ELDEN RING\Game\eldenring.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nv_dispi.inf_amd64_866484083fc526af\nvwgf2umx.dll
Report Id: 824ca9a4-7a8a-4eac-a7da-605b8baf51b6
Faulting package full name:
Faulting package-relative application ID: 12/29/2023 5:48 AM Application Error Faulting application name: eldenring.exe, version: 2.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x648ff746
Faulting module name: eldenring.exe, version: 2.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x648ff746
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x00000000004bca40
Faulting process id: 0x1f1c
Faulting application start time: 0x01da3a199f7a476c
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ELDEN RING\Game\eldenring.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ELDEN RING\Game\eldenring.exe
Report Id: bd2e521a-b33c-48d9-b31f-2bef12d79015
Faulting package full name:
Faulting package-relative application ID: And my specs: Any help would be amazing and I will forever be in your debt. 16. I've been thinking of switching out my specs and completely re-doing it but on the AM5 Platform My specs are: Motherboard - Asus ROG B550-F WIFI II CPU - Amd Ryzen 9 5900X GPU - Amd Radeon 6900XT Ram - Corsair Vengeance LPX 32Gb DDR4 3600Mhz PSU - Corsair RM750e SSD - Western Digital Sn770 1Tb I was thinking of changing just about the whole build to this: Motherboard - Asus ROG B650 - A WIFI CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X/7 7800X3D Gpu - Asus Tuf RX 7800XT OC edition Ram - Corsair Vengeance 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6400 PSU - Corsair RM750e SSD - Western Digital Sn770 1Tb The reason I'm changing the CPU is because I don't have much use for the extra cores because this is a gaming build, and it's never at 100% usage, and I found that the 7600X gives better gaming performance, has a decent IGPU, and loads of other technical differences. I'm changing the GPU because it's not an OEM model, as it's a tester card from an AMD factory, and it doesn't work like other GPU's most of the time. Eg. the maximum frequency is 500mhz ( I posted a pic below ) and I have to manually change the settings which sometimes causes crashes. It also heats up a lot because of that, meaning that when I set it to 2300mhz it stays there and heats up to 80 degrees when I'm playing games like battlefield 2042. I also can't decide whether I want to pay the extra amount of money on the 7800X3D. The games I play (1440p at 144Hz) are: Battlefield 2042 Need For Speed Heat R6 Siege Dead Space F1 22
 17. Budget (including currency): around 600 usd not including the mobo and cpu Country: usa Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: mostly gaming maybe streaming and editing Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I have a 1080p monitor I already have a b650m pro rs wifi and a ryzen 5 7600
 18. I only have 70% isopropyl alcohol on hand and the thermal paste I'm using is from nuctua. I saw youtube videos of people putting in alcohol on the socket and using a tooth brush to clean. I tried doing the same thing but I just but in a little bit of alcohol to clean.
 19. Cpu is currently limited at 3.90Ghz in windows. But my cpu is actually capable of 4.20ghz. Any ideas? -specs: MSI A320m-a pro Ryzen 5 3400g igpu
 20. Budget (including currency): no more than 9000 PLN (that's polish zloty) Country: Poland Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly as a home media and entertainment center, for gaming I'd say BG3, Jedi Survivor, Hogwarts legacy, Witcher3, GOW etc. As for others just for movies, some light excel work, web browsing, music Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I'm upgrading from quite an old pc, this veteran kept me company for what seems like forever, but sadly my i5-2500k and 8gb of ddr3 ram are no longer viable in almost any gaming use. I upgraded the storage to a 500gb Samsung 860 evo and graphics card to a GTX 1660 Super. I'm planning on keeping my SSD and HDD the SSD will be a dedicated windows drive and the HDD will be for backup and media. I also plan to keep my sound card Creative Labs Sound Blaster Z SE but if it wont fit I'll change it for something like an external dac (Creative Sound Blaster X3) As for displays I'm torn between a 27" and 32" 1440p 144hz monitor. The only caveat is that I'm planning on building a mATX pc as space is not a luxury I have This is what I've gathered after some research: CPU – AMD Ryzen 5 7600X 949,00 zł MOBO – Gigabyte B650M GAMING X AX 819,00 zł RAM – G.SKILL 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MHz CL32 Flare X5 AMD EXPO 539,00 zł GPU – Sapphire Radeon RX 7800 XT PURE 16GB GDDR6 2749,00 zł or ASUS GeForce RTX 4070 DUAL OC 12GB GDDR6X 3099,00 zł SSD – Samsung 1TB M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe 980 PRO 399,00 zł PSU – ENDORFY Supremo FM5 850W 80 Plus Gold 499,00 zł CPU cooling – Deepcool AG620 2x120mm 259,00 zł Case – DarkFlash DLM21 Mesh White 219,00 zł Display – LG Ultragear 27GP850 NanoIPS 1649,00 zł or Lenovo Legion Y27h-30 1699,00 zł or LG 32GP850-B NanoIPS 1949,00 zł Of course all will run on Windows, probably win 11. These parts come to approx 8200 pln I'd be really grateful for any suggestions
 21. Hello everyone, I upgraded to 5950x from 5600x. First boot seems fine, I did cpu stress test for an hour and everything is fine but the moment I try to reboot, the PC just keeps resetting over and over! My motherboard is Asus B550 tuf gaming and I'm running 120gigs of ram. I checked everything and I'm sure that motherboard and ram is not the issue for sure. My OS is linux mint and when rebooting I see this error and then everything rests: https://imagesupload.net/image/hQ3Pa I suspect cooling is the issue/my cpu is running too hot specifically during the boot which is causing this issue but I'm already using an AIO (Corsair Link H150i) Here's the results from stress tests: https://imagesupload.net/image/hQoU9 How can I solve this issue that I'm facing during boot?

 23. Hello everyone! This is my first forum post, so please let me know if I'm doing anything out of order. Recently, one of my fans stopped working on boot, so I was getting a System Fan (90B) error. I went into my BIOS and changed my fan settings to be always on, which is how I figured out that it was only one of the fans that stopped working. After booting the computer, everything seemed to be working fine, except that my CPU was being throttled down to 0.38 GHz, which, after some digging, seems to be the lowest speed for my CPU. (I used this link, but it was referring to an Intel CPU.) Every once in awhile it jumps back up to around 3-4 GHz, but immediately goes back down afterward. Does anyone know how I can keep the clock speeds up with something like Ryzen Master? I don't want to take apart my laptop to see what's wrong with the other fan just yet because I'll have to buy new rubber feet and thermal paste after the teardown. Any input would be much appreciated :) System info: System Model HP ENVY x360 Convertible 15-eu1xxx Processor AMD Ryzen 7 5825U with Radeon Graphics, 2000 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 16 Logical Processor(s) OS Name Microsoft Windows 11 Home Version 10.0.22621 Build 22621
 24. For a couple of months my ThinkPad E15 Gen 3 AMD (w/5800U & soldered 8G & 1x so-dimm ddr4) seems to work really fine like before, expect for one fact that it use over 30 seconds to launch my bootloader (systemd-boot menu of Arch Linux, if that matters). The strange thing is that it's NOT the case where the Lenovo logo appears a long time after pressing the power button. Instead it IS the case that the logo itself instantly shows up after powering on, and (after prompting for boot interruption) it just stays there for a LONG time before bootloader kicks in. Other details: If I interrupt the boot immediately after powering on (press Enter), the interrupt menu pops up immediately too, if I select a boot device, "the daze" happens afterwards. But if I wait for at least 2 seconds, "the daze" happens before the interrupt menu pops up. `systemd-analyze` shows `Startup finished in 30.838s (firmware) + 3.064s (loader) + 1.251s (kernel) + 4.562s (userspace) = 39.716s graphical.target reached after 4.562s in userspace.` Hardware I modified: Upgraded the RAM (from 8G soldered + 8G so-dimm to 8G soldered + 32G so-dimm, DDR4-2400) Once I installed another NVMe to the spare slot, but soon for reasons I removed it. (It mostly happens before the problem appears.) Things I tried: Updating to the December firmware (just did that, nothing changes) Resetting the firmware settings (no effect) Tweaking the boot order (set NVMe or Linux to top, no changes) (problem persists even when I boot with a thumbdrive) Installing other OSes such as Windows (no effect) Disabling every security & integrity related settings in FW (no effect) Disabling AMD-V and memory protection (no effect)
 25. Not really all that knowledgable or update to date on this stuff anymore. I have already got a 6800 and the PS, what CPU would be the better pairing? I was looking for around $300 and the 7600x is currently slight cheaper than the 5800x. This was the current build plan https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/fRtRwg
