  2. Don't even ask why I'm using Windows XP, it's a hobby project. Anyway what the title suggests is true, running the very latest Catalyst drivers available for XP. When on the desktop its extremely laggy and black rectangles frequently appear. Any GPU intensive application runs worse than it did on the older board-integrated graphics. CPU is an AMD Athlon 64 4000+.
  3. So I've basically already decided on the 6800 but I wanted to hear what some of you guys think and if maybe I should go for the 6800xt instead and or if the 6700XT and 6800 are so comparable it that I should go with the cheaper one. As far as I know the 6800 is better than the 6700XT by quite a bit.
  4. Hi, just made my account to seek for help after digging ~5 hrs into solving the problem... I installed the AMF enabled ffmpeg, following exactly how the Github instruction said, and compiled ffmpeg without issues. Driver Linux · GPUOpen-LibrariesAndSDKs/AMF Wiki (github.com) However, things are getting tricky when I try to use the h264_amf flag. As someone had also raised an issue here [Bug]: AMF failed to initialize on the default Vulkan device: 1 on Ubuntu 22.04 · Issue #358 · GPUOpen-LibrariesAndSDKs/AMF (github.com), I encountered this issue as well. I did a fresh install on my machine, Minisforum UM780 XTX (7840HS, Radeon 780M GPU). At the end of the day so sad nothing seems to be working with AMD... Tried AMF and VDPAU. Essentially, I want to use it to convert videos to m3u8 for streaming services, and I used the following command for testing. The result is attached, `ffmpeg -hwaccel auto -i input.mp4 -c:v h264_amf output.mp4` Would be appreciated if any help could be offered. Cheers.
  5. Budget (including currency): $2000 CAD Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Starfield, F1 23, streaming & recording (including from external consoles), emulation, LoL, potentially some light video editing Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Current parts list: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/BjtrCd Current system: MSI GE62 7RD Apache Laptop Buy plan: Probably at least a few months to a year, but sorting out how I'd like to build today so I am ready with a plan Preferences: 1440p resolution 100-180 Hz refresh AMD CPU / GPU Low-cost PWM fans Seasonic power supply (Really like the company / build quality / want to support them and include in my build) Prefer Sapphire GPU (Nitro+ / Pulse) for personal preference on looks over other GPUs and stupid personal reasons Want most of my money to be in the GPU Chose parts with RGB working together in mind after a few parts ended up being RGB. Hello LTT Community! I am a long-time YouTube watcher, first-time poster, and first-time builder. After doing a bunch of research on how I would like to build my PC, I landed on the PC parts listed above. Here is a little dive into some of the justification as to the parts pertinent to my questions: Asus Prime AP201 MicroATX Case: This is one of the cheapest mATX cases I have found with looks I like, has a USB-C front IO, and a smaller form factor that isn't in the mid-tower size. It's also great for airflow based on my research, but provides a few challenges on that front (more on that later). Sapphire Nitro+ RX 7800 XT: First of all, I couldn't give two hoots about ray tracing, and AMD's extra VRAM alongside its great pricing compared to NVIDIA makes this an easy choice for me. I also just like the fact that I'm choosing AMD over NVIDIA from a company standpoint. I think 4K is a waste of time for me, and 1440p is more than adequate for my needs and wants. I also went with the 7800 over the 7700 since it was a minor price bump for significant performance improvements. I went with the Nitro for personal preference on looks and RGB (one place I decided to splurge a little for myself), but still considering the Pulse as a possible alternative, and I just like Sapphire as a GPU builder in general. ASRock B650M Pro RS Wifi mATX Motherboard: I find it really silly just how much money motherboard manufacturers are selling their boards for these days, and I think you get very little extra for expensive boards that I really care about. This board has everything I need, except maybe enough headers to accommodate my airflow/RGB needs (again, more on that later). I really want to spend as little as I can get away with on my motherboard, and this seemed to work well for my needs. InWin Luna AL120 3-Pack: These fans aren't perfect solutions, but they are currently my top choice for static pressure, good airflow, lower noise, and the bonus of RGB. Currently deciding on how many fans I need, between 3 and 6. Not a fan of the fact that these are sleeve bearing fans, I would prefer fluid bearings as I heard they function better mounted horizontally and are generally quieter, but I am still a novice in this area (and in general ) and I'm not entirely sure as to what makes the most sense on bearings. I also absolutely want PWM fans. Deepcool GAMMAXX GT V2: I definitely want air cooling, hate the idea of having water-cooling in my PC, and this was a reasonably cheap option that looked nice (especially with the RGB endplate) and seemed more than adequate for my needs. Ryzen 5 7600: Small note here, I chose this intentionally over the 7600X for its lower TDP and lower price while still being more than enough processing for what I need. On to the questions! 1) Fans: sleeve vs fluid bearing & static pressure My current understanding is that sleeve bearing fans are best used in the vertical position, and since I only have one option for a vertical fan in the AP201 case, should I instead be considering other options? I chose the InWin Lunas for their static pressure for the bottom intakes to get past the dust filter, great airflow, low cost, being moderately quiet, and the bonus RGB. I was also considering the Thermalright TL-S12-S fans for similar reasons while also being fluid bearings, but was largely concerned about needing another kind of fan to have more static pressure for the dust filter at the bottom of the case. Maybe this is me being overly cautious about the filter and it's actually a non-issue, please let me know! I was also considering the Noctua S12B redux-1200 fans for their fluid bearings, good airflow and unmatched low sound while also being low-cost, but again was concerned about static pressure in front of the filter. They also have no RGB, but I care less about that. Between these options, I guess I really need to know if the horizontal nature of the majority of my fans is going to cause a problem for my sleeve bearing top choice, and if I need to consider static pressure considerations at all when considering that dust filter. I am also open to hearing suggestions from the community for low-cost, low-noise fans that suit this case / configuration. 2) Setting up an optimal fan configuration for slight positive pressure in the AP201 case While this case is excellent for airflow with its all-mesh design, the ability to mount fans is limited to (in 120mm size) 3 on the top, 1 in the rear, and 2 on the bottom. The power supply is mounted at the front, so no fans can be mounted there. It is also important to note that there is a dust filter on the bottom of the case which is causing my novice brain no end of headaches. This leads me to a couple of different possible fan configurations. 3 exhaust top, 2 intake bottom, 1 exhaust rear: Max fans for max cooling and max light show. This is probably my least desirable setup because (I think) this would almost certainly lead to negative pressure in the case and is just asking for all kinds of dust build-up. I'm assuming fan speed can be adjusted to accommodate, but that just seems like I'm wasting money on too many fans at that point. 2 exhaust top, 2 intake bottom: Simple math, two in, two out, likely good for neutral pressure in the case, but I'm also unsure if the dust filter at the bottom is going to cause a static pressure problem and once again lead to negative pressure. This is largely why I chose the InWin Lunas as they were supposed to have good static pressure while also providing excellent airflow with the light show, and I wondered if fan speed can be adjusted to compensate. 2/3 exhaust top, 0/1 exhaust rear: Maybe I don't even need bottom fans. One of the hardest questions I've had to find an answer for is whether or not GPU fans should be considered in the airflow profile of your case for ensuring positive pressure. The Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT is a beefy card: a three slot, three fan design. It will likely be very close to the bottom of the case and I don't know if there will even be enough space for the 2 bottom intake fans after that, and I'm unsure if the card itself will be enough intake to balance out the exhaust. Again, also concerned that this is where the dust filter is too. Is it recommended to have those fans under the GPU or not? If there won't be enough clearance for fans, should I also consider the Sapphire Pulse 7800XT, which is a two slot, two fan design to help make room for the extra fans to help balance out the exhaust at the top? I haven't really found a straightforward answer to this question for a case with this kind of cooling configuration (as most people do mid tower builds) and would definitely like to hear opinions. 3) Adequate fan / RGB headers As a follow-on to the previous section, the ASRock B650M Pro RS Wifi motherboard comes with 1 CPU fan connector, 3 chassis fan connectors, 1 RGB header and 3 ARGB headers. Some of my fan configurations call for as many as 6 case fans and 1 CPU fan, all potentially with RGB. Ideally I would like to have my fans controlled by the BIOS and set my fan curves that way, and I would also ideally like to have all my components' RGB (which may include the graphics card if I choose the Nitro+) synced up, with only 3 or 4 headers to make use of. I do know that fan controllers do exist, but I am waaaay too novice to know what I need in this department. Am I just short on headers, or is there a solution that allows me to keep the motherboard I've chosen while allowing me to control the fan speed and RGB how I'd like? 4) GPU size and the AP201 case Like I mentioned above, the Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT is a big three slot, three fan design that is 320mm long. It TECHNICALLY fits in the case, but am I going to need a bracket for sag, does the case even support that bracket, and am I just being too ambitious in the size of the card here? Should I just go for the 280mm long Pulse 7800XT instead and save myself the headache? And if in the fan discussion above, it is determined I do actually need bottom intake fans, will the Nitro+ give me enough clearance for those? 5) Monitor recommendations I'll keep it simple: 1440p, soft ceiling of 180 Hz (since I don't really care or need to have refresh rates beyond that, but willing to go beyond if it happens to be a cheaper monitor), would like to be able to turn it long-ways if I want to, low-latency, good colour/contrast, reasonable IO, IPS preferred, and as budget as it can be (not interested in spending a crapton on a monitor. I was shooting for around $300 CAD, but I can go higher if the monitors just aren't good). I just have no idea what I'm doing in this space, and the Acer monitor in the parts list is my best guess at a good monitor for my needs. I know that this is a whole lot of stuff, and I hope the community can help. Thank you very much in advance, I am a very excited (and enthusiastic!) new builder who is a bit of a perfectionist when wanting to get everything together in a new project. I also welcome general suggestions on my build if you have a personal preference one way or another.
  6. Hello everyone, I have a Phillips 499P9 32:9 5120x1440p monitor. For gaming I like to scale it down to 2560x1440p in the middle of the monitor with black space on the sides. Up until now I had a GTX1070 and if there was a problem with the game scaling properly, I could go to the OSD Menu of the monitor and force an aspect ratio there. I recently upgraded to XFX Swift RX6800 and the aspect ratio option in the monitor does not work. The menu item is still there but it is not active and cannot be selected. This kinda sucks because I bought the GPU for 1440p gaming and if the game scaling does not work properly (e.g. like in Witcher 3) I am forced to use the whole monitor, requiring the GPU to push something like 80% of 4k. I tried various combinations (both global and per-game) of scaling settings in the AMD adrenaline app but they seem to have no effect at all. Can anyone here advise, whether I should look for some specific setting that would give the aspect ratio control back to the monitor? I'm starting to think that this whole foray to AMD was an error and that I should be a man and go back to nvidia. Thank you.

  8. My GPU ramdomly disconnects from my system, it is very similar to just ripping it out while it is running. I have no idea why it is doing this, I have tried everything from different drivers to using Linux to running it a different system which ran fine in tell i put the gpu back inot my main system(i am going to run it in this secondary system some more). It started happening right after both a bios and windows update that happened at the same time (windows didnt give me a choice). I have a i7-7700, Rx 5600 XT, dell precision 3620 motherboard. I have tried downgrading the bios and it simply will not let me as the most recent update was a "critical" update. Anything is much appreciated as I dont want to spend money on something that isn't the problem.
  9. Hi all, Edit: the issue seems to be more fundamental. I can get into BIOS, and I opened hardware monitor to look at my CPU temps and after being there for a while I wanted to close it and my BIOS froze. Rest of the story provides context on how I got to this situation... I'm slightly panicking here. I had a good working setup with just Windows 11 (pro) installed (upgraded from Windows 10 pro) on my newly build machine (tech specs will follow). I installed Ubuntu as dual boot in a separate partition on the same SSD as my windows is located. It booted into MOK (I had secure boot set up) but I had issues with that so I passed it. It booted fine a couple of times when so I performed the necessary updates but after that it the problems started. I reboot into ubuntu and at the login screen it works fine, but trying to login in or open a different tty (ctrl+alt+f2 e.g.) it froze again (not getting into the desktop at all when logging in or not even reaching the tty). I tried rebooting into windows and I'm getting a different BSOD every time. Trying to boot into Windows recovery mode works, but when opening CMD I'm getting different BSODs as well. Couple I've had were: - IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL in ntoskrnl.exe - MEMORY_MANAGEMENT when trying to run DISM in cmd in recovery And a couple more but didn't have time to take a picture because my pc rebooted immediately. I tried swapping the boot order back hoping that was the cause, but then my BIOS froze... I don't understand how to get the dump files in this situation since booting from my Windows 10 install USB is freezing as well on the windows logo. My BIOS is on E7E26AMS.150 (just the version with which it shipped) and I see on the MSI page that there is a BIOS update available. But honestly, with my BIOS freezing I'm really afraid to start flashing a new version on it... what If it happens during the update? 11. Hello, I searched the forums and the broader internet but couldn't find a good comparison of an M3 Max vs an equivalent Intel or AMD processor. A lot of the comparison sites just don't have comparative fields for Apple vs Intel processors. (Aka price to performance calcs). Can anyone point me to a good Intel or AMD processor that would be on-par with an M3 Max chip? I certainly don't need an Intel Core i9-14900k, but I am looking forward to using a proper Desktop class processor. I have not built a computer for about a decade. I currently have a 16" m1 Pro MBP, and an m2 MBA for work. Looking to build a gaming, 3D modeling, and 4k video editing windows PC. I plan to game at 1440p and don't care about ray tracing. I won't be playing many AAA games like Cyberpunk or Tomb Raider, more indy titles. So 1440p at 120hz will be my target monitor. Perhaps a second monitor at 4k with great color accuracy but a low refresh rate. Thank you!
  12. Hello, I am planning on buying a laptop for myself for regular day-to-day office work and some/ rare gaming. I have been looking at Lenovo and Asus and I am confused between 2 specifications. A-> Company- ASUS- TUF A15 CPU- AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX GPU- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop RAM- 8GB DDR4-3200 SO-DIMM *2 Storage- 512GB PCIe 3.0 NVMe M.2 SSD B-> Company- Lenovo LOQ CPU- Intel i5-12450H GPU- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop RAM- 8GB DDR5-4800MHz (SODIMM) *2 Storage- 512 GB SSD M.2 2242 PCIe Gen4 TLC Both systems have 8GBx2 = 16GB of ram. but A has DDR4 ran whereas B has DDR5 ram. Both are at an approximate same price point but the ASUS laptop is refurbished. My approximate budget is 70,000 INR +/- 5,000 INR. I am unsure as to which laptop to select. Please feel free to ask any questions/ clarifications/ details required from my side. Kindly help.
  13. I have a gaming pc with an Intel I9 processor and and everything is intel compatible, but about a year after I bought it ,Windows Update keeps giving me a popup that says it can't update any further until I fix the raid issue..the pc works great otherwise. properties on the hard-rive show a AMD raid ..My pc has a M.2 with Windows on it and a sata drive with all the rest of my programs and data.... is it worth the time to fix and if so is there a way to fix it without reinstalling everything?
  14. Hi!! I just recently finished my first build- I have the ASRock Challenger RX6600 GPU in my motherboard (with a AMD Ryzen 5 5600G cpu) and ive been having issues trying to connect a second monitor and was curious if anyone had any tips on troubleshooting. Integrated graphics has been turned off and my main monitor is plugged into my GPU in the HDMI port, the second monitor I want to use is a display port cable and every time I attempt to plug it into the GPU it either says no signal found or my main monitor will go black and the second monitor will boot up (but not post into BIOS) and then completely shut off back into the no signal screen (the second monitor is a dell monitor that doesn't even have an HDMI port and only has VGA and dp so im wondering if its too old for the graphics card). Ive tried different cords and It gives the same result. If anyone has any idea why this happening I would be most grateful!! Would love a second monitor in my setup so would love a solution : D
  15. Hi there! A year and a half ago I bought a RX 6700 and I've been having an horrible experience with it. As mentioned below, I use 4 monitors where one usually has a tab from Twitch or Youtube. If for some reason I open another tab of Youtube for exemple, both videos will be lagging a LOT. Whatever monitor they're on. Same if I open a webpage with some animations (this include some media players: if the HUD? of Youtube is showing while the video is playing, the video will lag until it disappears), everything will lag for some time. In top of all that, when I press Alt+tab it's all buggy, even if I have only one Twitch/Youtube it will show like 7-8 of that tab. Few screens of this mess: https://imgur.com/a/GNNzvK9 (the screens are on Opera but the same happens on Chrome + Firefox, I just can't stand these web browsers). I've deactivated the hardware acceleration on Opera and it's now usable, but I still have all that. Sometimes the fourth monitor won't even be recognized anymore. I don't turn off any screens, I'll have to reboot maybe 5 times in order to get it to be detected (already tried to turn them off and everything but still the same). It struggles with a few games too, which I can't remember now from the top of my mind, since I've abandonned playing on PC and switched to the Steam Deck and Ps5 because of this GPU. Here are the specs of the PC: GPU: Sapphire RX 6700 CPU: Ryzen 5 5600 Motherboard: Asus ROG B450F RAM: 2x16GB CORSAIR PSU: Nox 650W Monitors: Main 1080@144, other 3 1080@60Hz Operating System & Version: Windows 11 23H2 GPU Drivers: Adrenaline 24.2.1 I have already tried this: - Uninstall drivers with DDU in safe mode. - Updated from Windows 10 to Windows 11 23H2. - Switched all cables, bought new ones, changed from DP to HDMI all screens, etc. - Main monitor switch from 144 to 60Hz like the others 3. Even while using only two monitors at 1080p@60 each, still the same. - Updated BIOS and chipset. - XMP deactivated and reactivated. - Turned off Freesync on the main monitor. - Someone on Reddit advised to turn off MPO, it kind of helped but the Alt-Tab thing is still happening. I'm about to switch back to Nvidia since it doesn't seem that the card likes multi-monitors setup, but am I missing something? Thanks in advance if you read all this!
  16. In the pursuit of constructing a high-performance PC, I’ve meticulously selected components that harmonize both efficiency and power. The chassis of choice is the Phanteks Enthoo Pro TG, a versatile enclosure that comfortably houses six hard drives. This allows for a substantial storage configuration, currently envisioned as six 2TB Seagate Barracuda internal drives, culminating in a voluminous 12TB of storage space. Yet, I remain open to the idea of integrating higher-capacity drives should the need for expanded storage arise. Complementing this, I’ve incorporated a Western Digital Black SN770 1TB NVMe SSD, elevating the total storage capacity to an impressive 13TB. This strategic amalgamation of storage solutions ensures a swift system response while maintaining ample space for extensive data accumulation. The proposed memory allocation consists of 64GB Corsair Vengeance RAM, ensuring fluid multitasking and proficient data management. Powering this ensemble is the Corsair RM650x power supply, a paragon of stability and efficiency. The graphical prowess is delivered by the XFX Speedster QICK308 Radeon RX 7600—a judicious selection that promises both performance and value. At the heart of the system lies the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, a formidable CPU that’s cooled by the Deepcool AK620 DIGITAL 68.99 CFM CPU Cooler, ensuring optimal thermal regulation. The foundation of this build is the MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard, a future-ready platform that offers both robust performance and connectivity options. This setup is primarily engineered for tasks such as Unreal Engine development, and I believe it represents a significant enhancement over my previous configuration. However, I am eager to hear your expert opinions and recommendations for any potential refinements or alternatives that could further optimize this build for my intended use cases. yes it will be used for gaming.
  17. I've got an Acer Aspire a315-g42-r5yr Laptop from a friend for basic maintenance. After cleaning everything, changing bios battery, i went to reinstall windows, i successfully booted the installer, installed windows, and then: no bootable device found. I've tried all over again, and again, then i started troubleshooting. I went trough every posibble setting in bios, least 3 times and if windows is installed, i get no bootable device error. But if ubuntu is installed, everything is working fine. Any ideas why is this happening?
  18. Brand new PC is having black screen crashes in Destiny 2. Long story short, I just built a brand new computer last week (specs below). On first boot, I wanted to test my most-played game, Destiny 2, and was super happy to see it maxing out with 144fps and FreeSync-type smoothness. However, over the past week, Destiny has been crashing randomly, sometimes even as I first load into an area. I have done just about every Reddit/YouTube troubleshoot in the book, still to no avail. My PC seems to run fine in everything else, it's just Destiny that has constant issues. I'll summarize the list of issues below, including specs, and the common error code when my system crashes. Issue: Destiny 2 black screen after playing for anywhere between 1-20 minutes, booted back to windows home screen, presented with error code "Broccoli" (GPU issue in-game), restart required to open Destiny again. In game before crashes is very stuttery, lots of screen tearing. PC is still running after crash, no MB debug lights come on, and I'm able to use most desktop apps post-crash as well. Things I've noticed: No GPU or CPU temperature peaking during crashes, super high scores with no crashing 3DMark or Heaven, no issues in other games, VRAM MHz sits around 1000 even when idle, game sits around 75-85% GPU utilization in intensive areas. Tweaks to my system I've made: XMP enabled on RAM, CPU undervolted to max 85W, tested GPU clock speed to max at 3000MHz, undervolted to 1050mV, power limit increase to 15% (all stable but not in Destiny). Fixes I've tried that haven't worked: 1. Resolution tweaks with CRU to reduce idle VRAM MHz. 2. Disable and fully delete Xbox game bar. 3. Reset GPU overclock to out-of-box tuning. 4. DDU graphics drivers. 5. Went back to old drivers that were "more stable" for the 7x00 series of AMD cards. 6. Windows memory test (just to make sure it wasn't the RAM). 7. Set power plan to high performance, also giving Destiny 2 high priority graphics settings. 8. Updated chipsets and BIOS. 9. Verified game files via Steam. 10. Disabled full screen optimization (this has helped with overall smoothness). Error Code: Display driver amduw23g stopped responding and has successfully recovered. This is the error code I have been receiving every crash. I'm not 100% sure this is the culprit, but there are no other warning codes around the crashing times. People on reddit whop receive this code seem to have similar issues to my own. I have linked a pic of this error code below. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edit Log: Few hours after posting this, I'm having worse stutters in game. I ran a strike with no crashes, and I had GPU-Z handy on my second monitor. GPU-Z shows that when these stutters happen, the following drop to zero or near zero: GPU clock, GPU load, Board Power Draw, and GPU voltage. These stutters are like skipping frames, imagine freezing for half a second before the game goes right back to normal. Specs: CPU: Ryzen 7 7700x GPU: AMD Radeon 7800xt RAM: G.skill 6000Mhz CL32 MB: MSI B650-p Wifi PSU: Thermaltake GF1 850W (2024) Case: Corsair 3000D Monitor: Dell S2716DG (GSync, no FreeSync) Thank you to everyone who responds with help. I'm hoping I'm able to figure this out soon.
  19. Hey All, I Have been having random crashes very randomly on my desktop. I recently upgraded back in October from an Intel CPU to an AMD Ryzen 7800x3D so I also got a new motherboard and ram. SSDs all stayed the same as well as my GPU (EVGA 3080), PSU was upgraded from a powerspec 850w gold to a seasonic 850w platinum. The crashes are random and there is no noticeable common occurrence. I don't seem to have issues with any performance, just the very random crashing. It has happened the last 3 days and I think I was only watching Youtube/Twitch at the time. Any help would be appreciated as it has started to get mildly annoying and I haven't been able to figure anything out.
  20. hello everyone!!! it happens that several days ago I have noticed that my games every time I open them after turning off the pc restarts its installation of shader cache, that seems to me something strange because I had previously installed them and in my previous pc once the shader cache are installed remain installed without problems until I update my drivers why does this happen? is there any solution to stop this from happening to me? my graphics card is the rx 6700xt with the latest drivers installed with DDU. and a ryzen 7 5700x processor. PS: I read somewhere that if I have a special character in the windows user could give a problem, my pc had a accent mark in my main account and then I removed it, but I don't know if that solved the problem.

  22. I would like anyone to help me understand a couple of things? I am playing with AFMF and FSR 3.0 Frame Generation. There are a few things I don't quite get in relation to Frame Generation and (input) latency. I use a fixed rate 60hz monitor. For example, my first question, in the picture below, what "Frame Gen Lag" means exactly? does it mean the Frame Generation is lagging 26ms when creating the new AI frame to inject? or it is telling me the added input lag? (Also, I see stuttering of 36% which seems a bit high but I have 118 FPS on a 60Hz so sounds like plenty enough even if there was a minor drop of 25FPS I am still past 60FPS; I understand it might drop from 200FPS to 150FPS at times but does the micro-stuttering percentage matter at all if you are still past 60FPS for my 60hz monitor?). I can understand how VSYNC might increase input latency and I understand that injecting a frame comes with an added latency but it still confuses me quite a lot, I don't think 45FPS native to 60FPS generated frames should make a difference in input latency; let's say I play COD MWIII with FSR 3.0 and Frame Generation on my 60Hz monitor and I get 110 native FPS on Quality... in theory, the more FPS even beyond my monitor's refresh rate helps to decrease input latency but now I have introduced Frame Generation which adds some latency (reduced thanks to Anti-Lag) and I managed to double my FPS: from 110 to 220 FPS, am I reducing my input latency or in reality I am making things worse with Frame Generation given I was already past 60FPS in my fixed refresh rate monitor? I have noted "FRAME GEN LAG" in the image above shows "N/A" when using FSR 3.0 Frame Generation, which is not the case when you use AFMF from the AMD Adrenaline driver. Why is that? I am guessing it is related to the fact that AFMF only reports real FPS via the performance overlay and not the in-game counter (whereas FSR3.0 Frame Generation reflects the added frames in the FPS counter correctly). With regards to input latency I have various scenarios. Let's assume my fixed rate monitor at 60Hz AMD Anti-Lag is on, and FSR 3 on Quality gives me 120FPS on a game, say Call Of Duty but could be any other game where latency matters. Using Frame Generation (AFMF). How is the effect on input latency on each scenario, what is the benefit if any or why it could have an undesired impact in smoothness or input lag. Scenario 1 - vsync off - enhanced sync on I enable FSR3 with Frame Generation ON, no frame limit. Then I double my FPS from 120 to 240. Scenario 2 - vsync off - enhanced sync on I enable FSR3 with Frame Generation ON. I set an in-game frame limit to 60, doubling my FPS to just 120. Scenario 3 - vsync off - enhanced sync on I enable FSR3 with Frame Generation ON. I set an in-game frame limit to 30, matching my 60 FPS to my monitor's refresh rate at 60Hz. Scenario 4 - vsync on I enable FSR3 with Frame Generation ON. No frame limit. I get more than 100 FPS. In these scenarios: enabling Frame Generation would make input latency to increase or decrease? Thanks in advance, any advice or comment to clarify this will be welcome.
  23. Hey All! IDK if this is the place to post this, but I would love some guidance on how I should proceed in getting a MOBO replacement. TL;DR - My Asus Tuf Gaming X570 PRO-Wifi has died yesterday and my warrenty expired back in October 2023. After reaching out to Asus, I have determine that my choices are to either send it in for repair (which they said could cost anywhere from $75-$200 depending on the hardware issue) or purchase a replacement (either new or used). I would Like some advice on If I should send my board in for repairs, or just say "screw it" and buy a different one. My current system core components are: AMD Ryzen 9 5900x Radeon RX 6900xt 64gb (2x32gb) of Crucial Ballistix 3600mhz cl16 RAM Samsung 980 Pro 1TB SSD (OS) Crucial P5 plus 4TB (games and projects) Corsair RMx1000 PSU The key features I want/need on my MOBO are: 2.5g Lan Onboard Wifi 6 or higher + bluetooth two M.2 slots (at least one being PCIe 4.0) USB 3.2 Gen 2 USB-C Front panel connector So far I have narrowed down my choices to the following MOBO under $200: New Boards w/ 3 Yr Warranties: Gigabyte B550 AORUS ELITE AX V2 ($140) MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI ($160) Used Boards w/o Warranties: MSI MAG X570S Tomahawk Max WIFI ($175) ROG STRIX X570-E GAMING WIFI II ($200) I am leaning towards buying the Gigabyte board, as it does like 80% of what my old board did, comes with a new warranty, and it seems like the best bang for the buck. However, I am not opposed to sending my board for repair. I have a laptop and an Xbox Series X, so I'm not deviceless on the computing and gaming front, but I dont know if its worth it to potential spend the same amount of money to repair it as it would cost to just by a replacement. As for used options, I am hesitant. While they are high end MOBO's, and newer than my current one, I have heard a lot of horror stories in regards to used boards, and I don't necessarily what to be in a similar situation in a year or so (at that point, it might make more sense to just upgrade to the AM5 platform). So, what do you guys think I should do, should I go new, used, or repaired? I am also open to different options/perspectives if you have them! I dont REALLY want to change platforms rn, but if you have differnet MOBO suggestion, I am all ears!
  24. Hello, I have been having issues regarding my CPU temperature spiking. It is something that (obviously) should not be happening, as I have water cooling, sufficient fans and thermal paste. I had really bad temp issues about 5 months ago, and I figured out my fan layout was incorrect and needed new thermal paste. I did this and the issue was now been fixed. However the problem has crept up again however its slightly different. When I turn on my PC for the first time, the issues show. Temperatures reach ~100oC (at its worst, so playing games) and back down again to ~70oC. The spiking pattern is concerning me as I'm pretty sure it was a more steady figure 5 months ago. I don't think its a sensor issue as my computer does suffer a lot while happening, it runs painfully slow. Maybe my CPU was damaged from the previous incidents, heck could be some weird bitcoin mining virus that works in short bursts to stay hidden. (I think I have shown plenty here that my computer knowledge is very limited). A handful of the times the PC has turned itself off due to this issue, particularly if I am watch YT. As a temporary fix, I currently turn off my PC, leave it for 10 mins and come back. After that, the temperature is still high-ish like 70oC-80oC range, but manageable enough to play with my friends I use a AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU Obviously I would prefer not to replace it, as I am not made of money but if I am to, I would love to get some suggestions in £100 range Many thanks for reading Henry aka Progue
  25. Hello Guys, thank you for reading in advance! So I have a problem which I have never even heard of. I Built a new PC and got the : "New CPU installed. fTPM/PSP NV corrupted or fTPM/PSP NV structure changed. Press Y to reset fTPM. If you have Bitlocker or encryption enabled, the system will not boot without a recovery key. Press N to keep previous fTPM record and continue system boot. fTPM will NOT enable in new CPU, you can swap back to the old CPU to recover TPM-related keys and data" The problem is that it is unresponsive, If I press y absolutely nothing happens if I press N or Del mostly nothing happens, I found some Spanis video where he "solved" the problem by pressing n+del at the same time getting into the bios and disabling "Security Device Support" which I suppose disables TPM. The problem with this fix is I can't install Win 11 of course because it needs tpm. I tried resetting the CMOS, and installing the newest bios. I reseted the bios too. Do i have a bad CPU or mobo? I had some trouble just getting to this problem. I had a black screen of death and I'm not sure what fixed it (maybe re-seating the RAM) Spec: B550M aorus elite rev.3 5800x 2x16 cl 16 3600 ram 750w seasonic g12 power supply 1tb 980 Samsung SSD I would appreciate your help!
