Hey all, So for some reason windows 10 keeps setting my pc's power plan back to balanced and it's driving me crazy. I even tried changing the default power plan preference in the registry and it's still going back to balanced.

So i just got a Ryzen 5 1600x and i don't know if my GTX 960 will bottleneck with it. I'm clueless when it comes to bottlenecking and stuff, and would appreciate some help

I just built a new gaming pc that I also use for productivity. As the title suggests my pc won't boot into bios on my Samsung monitor which is connected display-port to my rx 580. But when I unplug this monitor and plug in my old 60hz gateway monitor via hdmi, you can enter bios. specs-- https://pcpartpicker.com/list/sZVpYr more in depth- when pressing the power button (with the samsung monitor plugged in) the status light under the logo glows/lights up (this means its turning on) then it displays a black screen and powers off because there is no display then turns on in 5-10 secs because windows has booted. my idea- the graphics card sends a signal to my monitor. The monitor powers on, then my monitor turns on before the bios is displayed so the screen is black and then the monitor powers off. So I need a way i think to change auto shutoff on my monitor but don't know how. Other monitor- using other monitor it powers on but takes a bit longer to do so and i can enter bios no problem, i dont like leaving this other monitor on the ground just for entering the bios

From what I have heard from my original post on this subject, an overclocked ryzen 5 1400 will NOT bottleneck a GTX 1070 at 1440p. In my original post I wasn't able to get a clear answer. Can anyone confirm that I will or will not get a bottleneck on CPU intensive games at 1440p using a 1400 at 3.5 and a 1070? Should I buy a 1400 for a 1070 or save up more for a 1600?

So I plopped together a list for an AMD Ryzen rig (PCPartPicker). Here are the specs, AMD RYZEN 7 1800X 3.6GHz 8-Core Processor MSI X370 XPOWER GAMING TITANIUM ATX AM4 Motherboard Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory Samsung 960 PRO 512GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB FTW Gaming ACX 3.0 Video Card EVGA SuperNOVA G2 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply Corsair SP140 49.5 CFM 140mm Fan Corsair Carbide Clear 600C ATX Full Tower Case So, that's all fine and dandy, but I need a CPU cooler. I wasn't sure which one to pick because I'm not an expert at this stuff (that and I want to have the parts fit without any trouble). Prices are a bit high (mainly due to the graphics card but) prices do need to come down just a bit. If anyone could provide some recommendations, that would be great. That, and I'm not so sure about AMD Ryzen. Should I go with Intel i7?

Hello there! I have been eyeing a desktop computer build since 2014 when i accompanied my aunt to buy 3 computers for her company. (They were prebuilt) I finally have enough money to buy a decent desktop computer. (It's a pain when i can't use my father's iMac which i fried the motherboard while gaming once, but it's not under warranty anymore.) About 2000-2200 SGD which is 1430-1580 USD to buy parts. Here are the list of things I have: Cooler Master Elite 431 Casing ACBEL 400W PSU with NO 8 pin connectors 500GB 2.5' HDD (came with my MBP) 240GB 2.5' HyperX Savage SSD (currently in my MBP) 16/32 GB of standard green-colored DDR4-2133 RAM (hopefully my friend would give it to me, it is from his Acer Predator which has 64GBs of RAM!!) 2 x 320GB WD 3.5' HDD (from old computers) I was thinking of two options, go with an ugly but performance per dollar build (4K monitior) or a sexy black/white themed build. UGLY: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/w8dW7h (the GPU to be changed to VEGA gpu of same price) SEXY: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Xc2W8K add NZXT Hue+ maybe? (the GPU to be changed to VEGA gpu of same price) Take note, even though I'm from Singapore, the prices of parts here is extremely expensive, (150USD for a S340 Elite), luckily there is Amazon.com free international shipping over 125USD for participating vendors and as long as its within the weight and size limit. (Try not to go over 290USD per order or else import tax {YEY!}) Alternatively if the item is not available on Amazon, I'll use ezbuy.sg to ship things. (pretty affordable price) If i were to get a case from the U.S., ill probably have to pay an additional 40-50 USD to ship it across (depending on the weight and dimensions of the case)(If you help me construct a part list, reserve 70 USD for shipping). Games I want to play: GTA V (and 6 when it comes out), FIFA 17, CS GO, F1 2017, Forza Horizon, Cities Skylines. Also doing coding (Python, JavaScript) I would love if it could be AMD RYZEN based because this computer will be used for 5 years and I may upgrade it to a Ryzen 3rd Gen CPU in 2-3 years compared to Intel which is basically Coffee Lake and that's it. I'm incredibly confident of being able to build a computer by myself as I have tested a couple video cards and upgraded CPUs, applied thermal paste and the CPU cooler, installed RAM with absolutely no hitch. I would definitely appreciate any tips though! Thanks for taking the time to read this post and have a great day!

I recently just built my new pc using an old hdd (by old I mean like 1.5 years) specs Amd ryzen 1300x 8gb drr4 corsair vengence lpx Msi b350m gaming pro 1060 6gb Corsair VS 450w 1tb wd Stock amd cooler Anyway I booted up the pc and it went straight into the bios, I looked at everything it was detecting ram, cpu etc and then I excited it, Just before I exited the bios i noticed something weird my cpu frequency was from deafult - 3.9ghz idk if thats normal or not but anyway I exited the bios and it went to a black screen I investigated and my hdd wasnt plugged in so i turned off the pc and plugged it in to a sata port. After that I am always getting hdmi no signal and my pc wont post. It boots up and the leds come on and fans spin but the caps lock key wont light up. On the mobo the dram debug led is always lit up. I have tried new ram and it still wont post. Any help or info would be highly appreciated. Thanks

I am new to PC gaming & one of the main reasons why I wanna build one is because of how great emulators are. I will be running a Ryzen 5 1600 with a RX 580 8GB. Is the Ryzen 5 1600 a good CPU for emulators or should i get something better? I heard that emulators are more CPU heavy then GPU heavy so I wanna ask if i will be all set or if i need to get a better GPU or CPU

I've been seeing that AMD plans to continue on AM4 platform for the next few years and essentially improving and revising the Ryzen architecture we have today. How different do you think Zen 2 and 3 will be if at all? I'm (wishfully) hoping they will stay on the AM4 platform like they've said so that you can just swap out CPUs but if the improvements require more pins on their PGA layout obviously that would mean a need for new boards.

I am building a New PC for the first time and I heard that Coffee Lake might be releasing Next Month. Now i was gonna go the Ryzen 3 1200 & 1050 TI route and save money but will it be worth to wait for coffee lake next month? A good benefit would be that I can save up enough for a 1070 or 1080 once coffee lake releases but i'm still having a hard time deciding

Hello everyone, I plan on getting a new Ryzen CPU I haven't yet decided , but I'm mostly gonna go with a Ryzen 5 as I thought they were cheap and had great gaming ability. But I know realized that I would have to upgrade my motherboard as well which would raise the cost. So I'm looking for a motherboard which is compatible with this setup CPU : Intel core 2 duo E7500 GPU : GTX 750 TI GIGABYTE 2GB RAM : 8 GB DUAL CHANNEL @531 Mhz DDR3

About the build: I started off wanting to start building a custom pc about 2-4 years ago but never had the money. I submitted my current gaming set up at the time to swashin's pimp my setup ep 114 and got a big fail on his show. Since that happened (by the way that setup took me 10 hours to cable manage) I set out to build this one. I worked since last thanksgiving and made $10/hr. Had enough to buy these parts some parts I got for free which I will talk about and others I bought over 1-5 years. Enjoy! ----ps buy this for your pc https://pcpartpicker.com/product/jJX2FT/3m-adjustable-cpu-stand-cs100mb gets it up off the carpet i posted a picture of it too Benchmarks: Look at pics.. I run all games at 1080p 144fps for my 144hz display and record using obs so I put the rest of the power to obs. -more pics @ https://pcpartpicker.com/b/mFgwrH -- Part Selection: CPU: Amd Ryzen 7 1700, I overclocked this to 3.9 stable @ 1.4 volts and can't get any higher and when I do it boots into windows at 300mhz I'm a new to overlocking to if you have any tips I'd like them. CPU Cooler: I ordered the Cryorig R1 universal for overclocking my ryzen 1700 to 3.9 and for ram clearance issues Motherboard: I chose the Asrock x370 over getting the msi b350 tomahawk, simply because at the time the asrock was only $20-$40 and had more features like wifi and Bluetooth. Besides that the bios is easy to get around and customer support is amazing. Memory: Corsiar LED ddr4 3000...blue led and fast not much else to say although I was going with the 3200 model but found this was $40 cheaper at the time and read up and found out that ryzen was hard to get past 2933 Storage: OK so for storage I bought a Intel 600p m.2 ssd becuase I wanted an ssd The WD Black I took out of my old digital storm gaming rig(dad bought it back in 2013)I received last Christmas prior to building this after he upgraded. If you want the specs i'm happy to give them to you. Then for the Samsung drive, this is in the rosewill hdd enclosure plugged into my negear nighthawk for file sharing. I received this drive from my friend. Video Card: AMD rx 580 from sapphire, I chose this card after realizing the 580 would be out soon, so i waited instead of buying an rx 480. Originally I put this card in the before mentioned digital rig to replace its graphics card. I am going to keep in in this rig until amd vega is released to the public. I overclocked with afterburner to 9gb/sec ram speeds and 1.450 ghz on the core....when using this profile load temps went up 10c and i only gained 6fps in furmark Case: Silverstone raven rvo2b-ew, I wanted a very good case for air cooling. I wanted a dust free case. I wanted a small case. I wanted a stylish case. Well I got everything I wanted except for it being small. I mean it is smaller than a full atx case. But This case can cool my gpu right now is at 28c with its fans off. my cpu is at 32c at idle with an overclock of 3.9 @ 1.4v its very quiet. For the dust practically none just got to go change those filters every 2 weeks or so and clean the inside with a rag about once a year. Power Supply: I was going to get one with corsair link but decided it wasn't worth the extra $40-$60 so I went with the EVGA g2 850. Top tier power supply not much else to say. Operating System: I am running on windows 10 education as My academy's web store is sponsored by Microsoft and didn't feel like paying for a new OS. It has the same features as home but has better security. Monitor: I went with the samsung as it is the best 1080p monitor on the market 144hz refresh , 1ms response time, 125% srgb support and calibrated from the factory, and it has a curved matte va pannel. Other Parts: I will update this if people ask questions in comments on parts but as is i bought the chroma from my work for $16 new and got the g502 for christmas. and the computer riser is a must I didn't want it on the carpet

I'm wondering if it's worth getting the ROG STRIX X370-F GAMING over the PRIME X370-PRO, there doesn't seem to be much difference between them to be honest, looking at the specs. I can live without a lot of the minor differences. But what i am wondering is if, the more expensive ROG STRIX X370-F GAMING has better overlocking capability than the cheaper motherboard? I heard some people say that the more expensive motherboards have better support for overlocking and bios updates etc. Or is it the case that the more expensive one just has more features that i'll probaly never use? Thanks, GR412

Does anyone of you guys have benchmarks, in which the AMD Ryzen 1700 or 1700x or even both get compared to the intel 7700k in 1440p? Or can anyone tell me if the 7700, for example, is straight up better than the Ryzen CPU´s

AMD Ryzen Customers Falling to RMA Fraud via Amazon Apparently two customers who bought AMD Ryzen CPU's were shocked to found Intel CPU's from their shipments but also what was included in the package they received. Included in the article are pictures of the customers who bought the so called " Ryzen " CPU's. This is to warn the tech savy people and also the not so tech savy ones to always check and make sure what package or shipment you'll receive once you bought the item you want to have and to be conscious on inspecting so called package received. Instead of receiving a AMD Ryzen CPU the customer received a Intel Celeron instead. Apparently an elaborative mass RMA fraud is seeping through Amazon. While Amazon did offer both of them refunds and even a gift card, these type of scams might turn away first timers who want to try experiencing building their PC's first time or to try what AMD Ryzen has in store or maybe the people who are waiting for the bang for the buck CPU's it may even lead to damaged motherboards or other damaged PC components that in some cases (which Amazon will probably not cover). Looking from both the processors they look like they have the exact same heat sink (and looks crappy by the way and it isn't the AMD Wraith cooler) with a unique and dated looking design and since both processors have the same elaborate false-Ryzen markings placed on the package, we can conduct a safe conclusion that thiis is a work of a single entity. The fact that whoever is behind this seems to be doing this on a regular basis means that this isn’t some ‘lone’ scammer trying his luck with RMA fraud but rather a relatively well planned fraud. If you happen to know someone you knew who plans to buy an AMD Ryzen CPU or any PC component you know that are not tech savy please do advise them to check or atleast do it for them. Hello, I'm building a gaming rig for a friend and he's looking to spend no more than au$2000. I think I've pulled together a got set but since I'm still pretty new to this I thought I would ask for some tips. Here is the build: https://www.pccasegear.com/sc/cDb. I was wondering if there would be any bottlenecking/incompatible parts that I might have missed or if the ryzen 7 1700 would be a better option, or anything else, Thanks.
