Hello & thanks for stopping by, Im currently on i7-2600k from 2011 with a gtx 1060 using a SATA SSD for OS and HDD for storage. As you can see I hold onto my hardware to get the most value from it. I really want to get larger/high res monitor and larger SSDs for new game storage. This system wont handle the high resolution & I dont want to put money in a old system when it could go towards a new setup. Im ready to take the dive and upgrade to AMD5950x and RTX3080/Navi 21. However, this is the end of the AM4 socket. So there will be no upgrade path to the next gen cpu after the 5950x. Im not sure when AM5 will come out but should I just wait (hopefully just 1 year) for that or go with the 5950x?

I'm looking for an mITX AM4 board that's not too expensive. Under 250 CAD for sure, preferably under 175 CAD. I will not overclock. I'd prefer having USB-C and wifi but those aren't necessary. At least 1 4 pin RGB and 1 3 pin ARGB headers for sure. Colour doesn't really matter, just not green or red.

I am looking forward to upgrading my system at the end of November to a ryzen 7 3800X with the Gigabyte X570 aorus pro. My only concern is that I think my 4 year old dark rock 3 will not fit.I do not recognise the mounting system that I see on the pictures of the X570 mobo and seem way different to the mounting brackets I have left in the box. After a quick google search I've also noticed that AMD changed the way their mounting system works. My question to you, the reader is: is the highlighted mounting bracket compatible with the X570 motherboards.

Hello, this might be a bit of a long shot but I am planning on building a PC that will be partially used for virtualization testing. I plan on getting the new Ryzen 9, but due to type of applications, I would require as much RAM as possible, preferably 256GB. Would this be possible with AM4 board? Threadripper is sadly out of budget. Thank you.

Hello, I wanted to build my first PC and I was thinking of getting an rtx 3070 with the a new amd processor, but I don't know which motherboard I should use, my budget is around 1000 to 1200, I was thinking of maybe getting an Gigabyte B550 AORUS Elite for 150 dollars or a MSI B550M PRO-VDH for 100, I don't know much about motherboards but I would want to know which would fit better.

EDIT: If anyone finds this after all this time, I managed to get it to work with 4x32GB Dimms. I had to reset BIOS multiple times until the System was willing to boot. Does anyone have experience with using ECC RAM on Ryzen? I looked at the supported RAM for my Mainboard, which seems to support Unbuffered ECC RAM: https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-x570-f-gaming-model/spec/ The cheapest Unbuffered ECC RAM per GB I found was the Kingston DIMM 32 GB DDR4-3200 ECC (KSM32ED8/32HC). Can anyone approve, that this will work with my setup? Thank you!

Budget (including currency): $2,250 (USD) Country: US (Central) Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Just an all around gaming PC mainly for FPS, I mainly play Halo but also play Apex and Siege whenever my buddies are on, and a couple of strategy and MMOs Other details I have a build planned out on PC Part Picker but was wondering if I can cut some costs without losing too much performance. I already have a current set up but I'm wanting to make more for home server (seen in profile). And no need to worry about peripherals. This will be a dual monitor set up with 1 1080p (200hz) and 1 1440p(2k 170hz) both over displayport 1.4. PCPartPicker link: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/AlaskaBvR/saved/#view=XNCYdC

Hey there! So i was trying to clean the cpu cooler and a drop of water fell from the ceiling. It touched the aluminum dissipator and splashed like two smaller drops on the side of the am4 socket (photo), it was still with the aluminum dissipator attached so no drops touched directly on the pins. I tried to dry it all with little pieces of napkin, absorving the drops until i didn't see more water. Tried putting it in the gap between the socket and the board too. Is there any risk if i try to turn it on? Could the water have touched the pins if it got into that small gap?

I just bought a new PC as an upgrade from my previous and it works great so far apart from the constantly flashing CPU cooler with no easy way to change to a different lighting mode or shut off completely. My motherboard is an ASUS PRIME B550M-K (Ryzen AM4) micro ATX motherboard and have tried using Aura Sync to change it but the software cannot recognise the cooler. I searched online and many said to make sure it's plugged into the 4-pin fan header which it is and it still can't be recognised by the software. Just to clarify, the cooler is the standard Hyper 212 and not the black edition (if there's a difference or not I'm not entirely sure). Can anyone help with this?

Hey everyone, I’m having a very annoying over heating problem. When I boot up my system and go into the bios I watch my cpu temp start at like 79c and rapidly increase to over 100c and then my pc shuts down. I just got a new ek 240mm Aio and I reapplied the thermal paste. I’ve tried turning up the speed on my system fans nothing seems to be working. Can anyone shed some light on my problem. Is my cpu bad? Is my mobo bad?

I'm between upgrading my AM4 CPU or upgrading everything to AM5. I will still wait for benchmarks and reviews, but I just wanted to read your thoughts

Hi, Some months ago I decided to dust off an old PC I had which uses a Intel i7 960. As part f the refurb I decided it was about time to replace the old 120mm AIO which had been running for 6 - 8 years however finding a cooler compatible with the i7 960's 1366 socket proved a challenge. I decided to go with a Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4 as PCPartPicker, Amazon and Scan UK all said it supported lga 1366 only to find out when it arrived that no it does not support that socket so I am returning that. Some members of this forum suggest I just look for a newer platform as a refurb on ebay so I found this this which appears to be good bang for the buck. I'm planning on running Proxmox with a VM for TrueNAS Scale, a VM for a VPN service (I've heard wireguards good), a VM for some python apps and other lightweight VMs. I'm expecting the i7 960 to not really be able to pull it's weight for all those so I think going with the 5800x from the ebay listing might be good but how would a 5600x cope with my goals? Should I buy a Noctura NHD15 and ask them for a 1366 socket mount kit for the 960?

We Have Tried Clearing The CMOS Multiple Times, Updated His BIOS To The Latest Version, Tried DownGrading To An Older BIOS Version And Did Nothing, Re-Installed His Windows And Tried Clean Installing Windows Multiple Times, Every Blue Screen Gives Very Different Stop Codes Every Time (I'll Try To Get them to Put In This Thread), But Yeah This Is Our Last Ditch Effort TO Figure This Out, Stop Code List So Far Is:(PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA)5 Times,(IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL)4 Times, Many Programs Can't Install Like MSi AfterBurner And Windows Update Refuses To Work(1st Image Down Below), I Think This Is All A Motherboard Issue But Idk, I'm Trying To Duct Tape His System Together So It Can Hold Him Over Until He Can Get a New Motherboard, Update: He Just Got This Error In Event Viewer(2nd Image Down Below) His System Is: CPU: Ryzen 9 5900X, Motherboard: Asrock b450m steel legend, RAM: VENGEANCE® LPX 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz C16 Memory Kit

Hello everyone, I was wondering which motherboard should I get for my PC. I currently own a Ryzen 9 5900X and Radeon RX580 8GB graphics card. I casually play and stream eSports titles such as csgo and valorant and use my pc for editing gameplay clips and photoshop. My previous motherboard got bricked during the bios update and now it won't post a damn thing on my screen. Now I need to get a new motherboard but have no clue which one to get. I've heard that X570 doesn't come for m-ATX form factor. I've also heard that a B550 gets the job done in terms of gaming and streaming for long durations. AM4 platform is also at the end of life but motherboard prices haven't dropped enough. So I want suggestions regarding which B550 or X570 one should pair with Ryzen 9 5900x

I am putting together my first build, and I am still deciding on a motherboard. I have decided on micro atx, and on AM4, but the one I have my eyes on (Gigabyte B550M AORUS PRO-P), does not have WIFI or Bluetooth, which is a must have for me. The router is on the other side of the house and I can not move it, and wiring a cable would be incredibly hard. I also need Bluetooth for all of my speakers and headphones. Is it worth it to get that board and then buy the adapters? Any suggestions would be helpful, thank you so much!

Hey guys. A little backstory here. I was doing some light office work this morning and all of the sudden the PC shuts down. No power outage, nothing spilled on it or stepped on it, it just stopped. After trying to turning it on back again, it lighted up and then shutdown. I knew instantly that the PSU was somehow protecting the system and probably something was making short circuit. I began to strip down the PC and at the end I tried all the componentes with another working AM4 board and GPU, CPU and PSU all worked flawlessly when I tried in the other system. However, the motherboard alone when connected with the 24 pin does turns on, it's when I include the 8 pin connector that fails and won't light up. I tried this with and without two working CPUs and two working PSUS and the result is the same. The system altogether, including mobo were brand new and bought them in December 2019. The only problem that I had recently was a faulty RAM that was replaced about 2 months ago and It was working without issues. Does it have a fix? Is the Mobo dead? How can I prevent this in the future? Btw MSI B450 Tomahawk Max Any answers will be appreciated, thank you!

Hey, I just was looking at one of the retailers, which sells PC components locally here in Finland. I came across a couple of interesting SKU's, all running zen 2 architecture, and coming with a wraith stealh cooler, and identical AMD Ryzen 3 4100 4c,4t, unlocked and comes with a wraith stealth stock cooler AMD ryzen 4500 6c,12t, unlocked and comes with a wraith stealth stock cooler Also, the clocks of this CPU are very close to the ryzen 5 3600, the 4500 has official boost clock of 4,1 GHz, compared to the 3600 4,2. And both have the same base frequency of 3,6 GHz However, the major thing here is the pricing locally at least The 4100 comes in with 119e (inc. tax), the 4500 at 149,90e (inc. tax) and the 3600 is at 245,90e (inc. tax). I have not seen any articles talking about these new zen 2 SKU's, which is pretty strange. It really seems that AMD is trying to capture the lower end of the market with these 4c and 6c CPU's Althought, If I remember corretly, wasn't the 4000-series of destop CPU's supposed to be only with AMD APU's? Or have I missed something major The listings https://www.verkkokauppa.com/fi/catalog/11428c/AMD-Ryzen?sort=price%3Aasc https://www.verkkokauppa.com/fi/product/778360/AMD-Ryzen-3-4100-prosessori-AM4-kantaan https://www.verkkokauppa.com/fi/product/778357/AMD-Ryzen-5-4500-prosessori-AM4-kantaan https://www.verkkokauppa.com/fi/product/556846/AMD-Ryzen-5-3600-prosessori-AM4-kantaan https://www.jimms.fi/fi/Product/List/000-1WM/komponentit--prosessorit--amd-socket-am4--ryzen-4000-sarja

Budget (including currency): 1800, US Dollars Country: USA, Texas Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Upgraded Rig will be used for - Adobe Premier Editing / 4k gaming. New Rig will be for HW, web surfing..etc Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Current build: - MD Ryzen 5 5600G 3.9 GHz 6-Core Processor - Gigabyte B550M AORUS PRO-P Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard - Crucial Ballistix 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory - Samsung 980 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive x 2 (got a local deal on the second m.2 for like 60$) - Cooler Master MasterBox Q300L MicroATX Mini Tower Case (plus 4 fans to cool case) -EVGA GQ 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply This cost me 680$ to build about a year ago. My plan was to wait until GPU's came back into MSRP and I just bought a 6900xt direct from AMD (!)... My GF wants to build a pc that can do multiple google docs tabs plus streaming. I figure that I can give her my 5600g, Ram, PSU and one of the 9800 m.2, and then just upgrade my system for editing with the 6900xt and a 5900x. Overall I am thinking I can spend around 1500-1800$ to upgrade and build a new rig. What do you think is the best options in terms of Ram and CPU for editing in Premier? (seems like 5900x is best price vs value range) Should I get a new MB for the upgraded rig, or get a cheap new one for my GF's new build? What would be the best ram to get with a 5900x? TY for you time!

Wondering if anyone might be able to help - I have updated my ASUS X470-PLUS TUF Gaming to the latest BIOS version (v6024 from v5216) - after successfully booting into Windows for the first time after the update, I noticed MSI Afterburner hadn't kicked in with my desired profile (MSI RTX 2070 SUPER Gaming X is my GPU) and was unable to select any profiles or change any options in Afterburner, I restarted my machine, but upon reboot, I got a message stating that Windows needed to be repaired, I tried rebooting several times and it would appear it failed to boot each time because a different key file or driver was missing each time. My PC was running Windows 10 21H1. Fortunately I have a basic laptop (also W10, 21H1( that I use from time to time, and decided to create the Windows 10 installation media creation tool using it, USB was made bootable, time to try the reinstall/repair. Upon plugging in the USB stick to my PC and going to boot menu to select it, I got the familiar black screen with 4 blue windows, before it displayed what I could only describe as a pattern of orange and white lines, with no options to proceed visible. I decided to try again and this time downloaded the ISO so I could use rufus to create the bootable USB, that went smoothly, but once again I was unable to proceed, though this time, it was a blank blue screen that I received, I tried a couple more times, and even redid the bootable USB, but I'm unable to proceed with reinstalling or repairing Windows. As for why I upgraded after sitting on such an old version of the BIOS that worked fine? I got a very lightly used 5800X from a friend (for a very reasonable price) after he decided to upgrade to a 5950X, and I knew I'd need to update BIOS version to get support of the 5000 series. Any help that folks can give would be appreciated Relevant Specs CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Motherboard - ASUS TUF X470-PLUS GAMING RAM - 32GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 3200MHz (4 x 8GB) GPU - MSI Gaming X RTX 2070 Super M.2 SSD (Boot) Drive - 1TB SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2, PCIe NVMe Additional Storage - 2x HDD (10TB & 2TB) & 1x SATA SSD (500GB) PSU - CORSAIR 650W TXm SEMI-MODULAR 80+ GOLD, ULTRA QUIET ----- EDIT: I have tried to install an older version of BIOS to see if it might be an iffy BIOS version update that looks successful but actually isn't - but I've had no luck with it even accepting the CAP file of older BIOS versions.

Im serioiusly considering the MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard. I'm thinking about the 5800X3D. On PC-Partpicker it says that it is supported but only with a newer BIOS. Is there any way of knowing what version it will come with because I don't have another AM4 CPU to upgrade my BIOS. If it matters my region is Germany. My second question is can I turn off the RGB? Really not important would just be a bonus. MAG-B550-TOMAHAWK.pdf
