I want to update my BIOS to the latest version (L2.62). I'm currently running the 2.40 version. The reason I'm asking is my CPU wasn't compatible with my motherboard out of the box. They added support for the 5000 G-series in a 1.60 update. So to out of the box I had to update the BIOS using a Ryzen chip with a different architecture. However that chip is no longer available to me. My question might be stupid, but I really rather not brick my BIOS. The manufacturer's website warning spooked me: "*To support Ryzen 5000 series processors, it requires to update the BIOS with Matisse, Renoir or Vermeer CPU.". https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B550M-HDV/index.asp#BIOS So, now that my MOBO is running a version that's compatible with my Ryzen 5 5600G is it safe to update my BIOS with it? Thanks

Hello all, I have an AM4 X570 system with the following configuraton: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X Motherboard: GIGABYTE X570 AORUS Elite Memory: 4x 8 GB Corsair DDR4 3200 MHz GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT I wanted to update my BIOS from F38a to F38b, I removed the CMOS battery from the board, waited for it to clear and put it back in so I could go into Q-Flash and flash the new BIOS, on stock settings. However, upon trying to power up the system, it never seemed to complete the POST. Fans spin, motherboard LEDs turn on, CPU & GPU were getting warm - but even after waiting 5-10 minutes the system never got to the UEFI BIOS. I was banging my head against the wall trying to work out what the issue was, swapping memory modules around, reseating the GPU, etc. This is rather difficult as board vendors like to not include PC BIOS speakers in the box these days... However, through some trial and error I found my system boots with 1 or 2 sticks of memory - but not any more. I can't populate 3 or 4 slots any more. This is odd as I've been running these memory modules at their XMP profile speed of 3200 MHz for over a year with no issue. I tried an individual stick in each one of the slots to ensure the slot or channel wasn't dead - and sure enough they all still work. It is also important to note at this point that even though all of these modules are CMK16GX4M2B3200, they're two separate kits. They all have the same SPD data when read out. Same JEDEC standard speeds, same exact XMP profile on both. Same voltages. Same everything, except for the fact two sticks are version 4.32 (supposedly Samsung C-die memory) and the other two are version 5.39 (supposedly Hynix M-die). What's confusing to me is that this setup was working fine for almost 2 years with no issue at all, but one clear-of-the-BIOS-settings later and it doesn't even boot. I'm at a total loss. I was reading online about increasing memory voltage or SOC voltage or IO die voltage but I've never touched those settings and don't know what the safe ranges are or what's recommended. I hadn't needed to before as it was working fine on Auto everything and XMP enabled. The system works with 1 stick or 2 stick in any configuration - but NOT if I mix the 4.32 and 5.39 sticks. Any help or potential solutions are much much appreciated. Thank you.

Budget (including currency): cheapest available, EUR Country: Germany Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: mostly gaming, no other heavy workloads Other details My current AM4 Mainboard broke, so its the perfect time to switch to an itx build in the fractal ridge case. My current parts are: 3600x, 16gb 3200mhz, rtx 2060, 500w ATX power supply, 1080p 165hz monitor. My current plan is to keep the am4 platform for the new itx pc, then upgrade the gpu in the future and then upgrade to the 5800x3d after that, but i am wondering if a switch to am5 or intel lga1700 would make sense. There won't be another generation of lga1700 cpus and the gaming performance of the x3d is comparable to 13th gen, while being harder to cool, so i don't think that really makes sense. Am5 mini itx Mainbords are still expensive, around 100€ more than am4 options + new ddr5. But would it be worth it for upgrading later down the road?

I am installing a Thermalright ARO on a AM4 platform. According to manual, the 2 plastic brackets on the motherboard (installed by default) should removed. Then, 4 nylon tubes (that comes with cooler) should be installed. I also put the anchoring mount on the top of it : Anyway, there a 5 millimeter gap on each side that prevent me to start screwing the 2 x M3L7 screws. The CPU is making good contact with cooler, it cannot go lower than that. The height on each side is 8 mm : This seems to be correct and about the same as in this review (see the picture with a ruler) : https://tiny-reviews.com/reviews/2130-overview-on-thermalright-aro-m14g-processor-cooler There must be something wrong but I cannot figure what.

Two specific examples are in Day Z and Sons of the Forest. Day Z i typically get like 200fps but when i look at specific parts of cities my utilization drops to the above mentioned and my FPS tanks to like 80 and depending on the map 30fps. I have the same issue on Sons of the forest, when i am in caves or in open world on the beach i get 120-140fps but when i roam in the forest i cant seem to get over 65fps, where i have seen benchmarks of other people with the same setup getting 90-120 in the same areas. With those two examples i am seeing between 40%-80%ish drop in frames compared to similar setups. There are other games this happens in but those are the 2 most recent examples i have. Another example is my wife has my old 6800xt gpu with a 5600x and playing Valheim max settings 1440p (both comps), i literally get 10-20 less frames than her in dense wooded areas, but when we are sailing in the ocean i have 30ish frames more. Not sure what is going on. I recently upgraded from a 6900xt to the 7900xtx and this happened with the 6900xt as well, she was outperforming me in video games. Is my CPU bad? Possible bad motherboard? Memory controller issues? I have checked to see power draw while running benchmarks and i hit max power draw / utilization on both parts during synthetic benchmarks. sometimes even hitting over 400W on my GPU (standard is 350) so im not sure what the issue is. Initially My RAM was not set to 3400 and was sitting at 2800 in the bios (doing this helped a bit but only like 10%), I do not have DOCP activated. should i? Do i need faster RAM? Over 4G etc. is enabled and i am taking advantage of Smart Access Memory. My GPU and CPU are both just set to automatic overlock in the Radeon dashboard

Hi everyone, I am currently trying to set up my first home server using some spare parts that I have gathered over the past few years. The server is primarily for hosting Minecraft and other games at the moment, and eventually, I plan to upgrade it to be a proper NAS for file storage. However, I am facing an issue where the keyboard is not being recognized during the boot process. When I boot up the PC/server, it displays the "Gigabyte Insist on Ultra Durable" boot logo with the BIOS hotkeys below it. I have tried pressing del, f2, f9, or f12 to get into the BIOS to try and select a boot drive, but nothing happens, and it stays on that screen. I have tried several troubleshooting steps, including swapping the RAM sticks, resetting the CMOS, getting a new battery for the CMOS, putting in my GPU, trying a PS/2 keyboard, putting in a boot drive with Windows pre-installed, and checking for basic mistakes such as CPU power, motherboard power, proper RAM installation, etc. However, the problem persists. I have a speaker for boot codes and it isn't indicating that anything is wrong. The parts were my main build for a while before I upgraded, and I lent them to a friend for a year while they waited for their own stuff to arrive. It was all working fine last month in my friend’s build, and I made sure to store it safely. The keyboard is receiving power from the USB ports, but it seems to not be accepting any input. Here are the specs of my build: CPU: Ryzen 3 2200g Memory: Corsair Vengeance 2400mhz 16GB (8GB*2) Motherboard: Gigabyte A320M-S2H PSU: EVA 500w I would greatly appreciate any help or advice to resolve this issue. Thank you. Joey

At the beggining sorry but im not native english speaker, so there might be a couple mistakes. Hi i have a problem with Ryzen 5 5600x? Im not sure if cpu is the problem but freezes started after upgrading from intel cpu to ryzen cpu with new mobo and ram. Rest is the same. I have a problem with random freezes, after the computer freeze i cant do nothing, have to reset it with button in case. No matter if im gaming or watching youtube/netflix. I saw few problems with ryzen freezing while low stress but nothing seems to work in my case. I tried turning off xmp but it didnt work. After upgrading to ryzen i installed W11, then the freezes started, thought it was W11 problems so i installed W10, unfortunately its not the windows problem. Event viewer doesnt shot anything. I thought that the temperatures might be too high so i did undervolt, temperatures ale lower, pc passes all stress tests with no problem. I have newest bios for my mobo, installed all drivers for chipset etc. Sometimes pc can freeze even 10 times in 1 hour, sometimes it might work with no problems for few hours. Freezing is completly random and i dont know what might be the problem. Disabled every power saving options in bios, also c-state controll (which was the problem in some cases but not mine, these people had freeze problems while low stress, mine crashes with low and high stress.) Is it possible that the psu i getting older and is causing the problems? I bought this cpu in 2016/2017. Also, is 550W enough for 5600x + 1070? I want to upgrade to 3060ti, if psu is not the problem, will i need to upgrade it anyway to run with 3060ti? I've been having this problem for many months with no solution, back then it wasnt that bad, but its getting worse with time(crashes ale more often). Please help me... im losing hope My specs: CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x - same problems with stock and undervolted Cooling: Stock ryzen GPU: Gtx 1070 RAM: Patriot viper steel 2x8gb 3600mhz cl17 MOBO: Asus tuf gaming b550-plus PSU: SPC Supremo M2 Gold 550W (kupiony w 2016/17) SSD/HDD: crucial mx500 transcend 370s toshiba wd110 I dont know if that matters but i also have pci-e sound card - soundblaster z System: Windows 10, Windows 11 - problems on both systems

I'm working on troubleshooting using cheapo minimal parts and I'm double-checking compatibility of boards & CPUs from eBay, and I'm watching auctions that expire within the day. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gNgX8r Combining an MSI B350 Tomahawk with an AMD Athlon 3000G or any other Athlon processor that uses the AM4 socket yields a corresponding compatibility warning as quoted below. Is this erroneous as I suspect? As far as I can tell they are perfectly compatible. Or is there something I'm missing? Any info is appreciated. "MSI B350 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard and AMD Athlon 3000G (14nm) 3.5 GHz Dual-Core Processor are not compatible" Thanks!!

Trying to update the bios for this motherboard so I was going to get a cheap CPU off of eBay but all the cheap ones are Bristol ridge CPUs like the a6 to a12 stuff and those are supported by the motherboard under the current bios version. With the new bios version though Bristol ridge support gets removed when adding support for 5000 series. My question being is it good to update the bios with this type of CPU or will it be an issue?

My M.2 NVME SSD(s) are "freezing" with 100% active time in Task manager. This only happens when gaming, and only in graphically intensive games (3dmark does not cause this issue), sometimes the PC will reboot itself but 9/10 I have to shut it off via the power button. Control, Vampyr, Half-life Alyx all cause this issue. if the SSD that "freezes" is my secondary one I can use the system just fine unless I try to access any files on that SSD. If the C drive "freezes" than the whole OS freezes up but usually i can still move the cursor around. Temps on everything are good. It started happening within the last 2 weeks, but may have been longer before I noticed what the issue was. I have tried: fresh windows install removing and re-installing the SSD's Only using one SSD clearing the BIOS Updating the BIOS Updating all the drivers for the system Updating the SSD's firmware (there were no updates) Updating/downgrading graphics card driver setting PCIE to gen3 disabling C-states Checking the SSD's (chkdsk, smart, samsung magician, WD dashboard) Checking the OS (DISM) Swapping PSU Removing all USB devices (sans keyboard and mouse) Different m.2 slots SPECS OS: Win 11 PRO x64 22h2 CPU: Ryzen 5 5800x MOBO: Gigabyte X570 Master rev 1.2 GPU: Nvidia RTX 3090 founders PSU: Corsair H1200x RAM: G.skill Trident Royal 4000 cl14 SSD 1: WD Black SN850x (freezes) SSD 2: Samsung 970 evo (freezes) I'm at a complete loss as to how to fix this, I can say 2 months ago everything was running perfect. At this point I've already spent over 12 hours debugging and doubt a repair shop would want to mess with a custom water-cooled computer.

Hello all, I recently decided on upgrading my PC from my intel system(i5-7600) to an AMD one. Budget isnt crazy so i went second hand on a Ryzen 7 5700G. Seller also provided The original AMD cooler(heatsink, fan, with 4 built in mounting screws. As im shopping for motherboards im noticing that the socket is flanked by what i assume is the bracket and back plate for a cooler. My question is do i need any other hardware to attach the cooler i have? Im new to AMD so im not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hello everybody, Some weeks ago I have started my pc after 1 month, it didn't start. After debugging other components I have come to the conclusion that my motherboard is fried. I have send the motherboard to service and got the replacement (it was in warranty). Now when I try to boot my pc it turns on then off immediately. I have tried a different motherboard and PSU with my old processor still the same issue (it turns on and off immediately). I have tried to boot up my pc with only PSU, mobo and processor. Is this means that my processor is dead ? Processor - Ryzen 5 1500x Motherboard - ASUS A320M-GAMING / Asrock B450M-HDV R4 PSU - 450W 80+ bronze/ 650W 80+ bronze

Hi, Recently I bought a new AIO and installed it into my system which was working completely fine before, however now it won’t turn on at all. At first I thought it might be my motherboard and I had no spare to replace it so I just decided to upgrade while I was at it, yet the problem still occurred. No boot at all only a small click on my PSU which I saw Corsair comment that it is a feature to ensure it is working. I have also tried using a different PSU which didn’t work, as well as different power cables. I also had two red lights show up on the DRAM and CPU which no longer appear after I removed 2 of my RAM sticks but still it refuses to boot other than a flash of light from the motherboards power on button. I am really stuck on what to try to find the problem. So any help would be massive appreciated. Edit: I have now bought a brand new CPU and still no boot. SPECS: Motherboard: N7 B550 CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 AIO: Kraken Z73 GPU: RTX 3070TI PSU: Corsair RM850e RAM: 4x8 DDR4 Vengeance Pro

Looking to build a new home server based on ITX. PCIe bifurcation is important because I intend to run a bunch of NVME drives an other peripherals (SATA/GigE cards). I'm probably looking at AM4 because Intel has restricted the the desktop LGA1700 chipsets to x8x8. I would consider LGA1200 since they can do x8x4x4 but z590 ITX boards are almost impossible to find these days. AM4 has no such limitation and can in theory do x4x4x4x4 but it is up to the board vendor to add support in the BIOS. Unfortunately it is tricky to work out what most can support because it isn't the sort of thing they put on the specs page. Does anyone here have any of the following ITX boards (with recent BIOS) and can confirm what they can support. Please respond with the model of board, BIOS version and level of support (x8x8, x8x4x4 or x4x4x4x4). ASUS ROG STRIX B550-I GAMING ASUS ROG Strix X570-I Gaming MSI MPG B550I GAMING EDGE MAX WIFI MSI MPG B550I GAMING EDGE WIFI ASRock Phantom Gaming-ITX/Ax ASRock Phantom Gaming-ITX/TB3 ASRock B550M-ITX/ac Gigabyte X570SI AORUS PRO AX Gigabyte X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI ASUS publish this guide which shows their B550 supports x8x4x4 and the x570 does not but I always wonder if this is up to date? I could look at a card that can do x16 bifurcation (using an ASMedia PCIe switch) but I am not aware of many that don't cost $$$. The QNAP QM2-4P-384 QUAD M.2 Card is one option but it only uses x8 to x4x4x4x4 which is a bit of a waste of bandwidth. Thanks,

Hi guys! First of all have a great end of Year and Holidays. So, as the title states im building a new Rig from the ground up and was planning on buying an R7 5700 to pair along with a Rtx 2060. Then last minute I got a nice deal for a Pristine Used RTX 2070 super and purchased it on a Hype. (Figures..) The thing is... I've already bought a Thermaltake Gx1 500w 80 plus Gold.C and I found out the 2070s eats up almos 220w. So I went into some PSU calculators and on Cooler master's/Outervisions's (BeQuiet's and others) my total Wattage TPD shows as 394w (including mini-Atx Mobo, NVME, Fans and Ram) I didn't had the chance yet to try it out on my own since some components are still under way from amazon. But my question is if such PSU will be able to handle the rig as Is? I've seen some builds here and there that are more than able to sustain similar and even more power hungry builds on 500w PSU. The exact model is Thermaltake Thoughpower gx1 RGB 500w 80 plus gold. Thanks in advance and cheers!

Today was a bad day, I pushed my computer off my desk with the back of my office chair. I was lucky my tempered glass didn’t break but my computer didn’t power on after that. Thankfully I’m currently working on multiple PCs projects so I have a spare AM4 B550 motherboard so I took my 5700X and placed it in the said spare motherboard and it worked fine. I took the CPU that was in this last motherboard to put it in the motherboard that fell off my desk and it worked as well (the other CPU is a 3100). At that point I’ve tested every component that was in the PC that fell off my desk and tested them all with other parts and everything worked fine. Weird… so I reassembled all the parts that were in the PC that fell and now the PC is powering on but I’m getting a CPU led error from my MSI B500m Mortar motherboard, so it doesn’t post… if anyone has a clue of how this is possible and what can I do to test it out that would help me out a lot

My thoughts and ideas - I normally use my computer for gaming, school-work, and light coding. With college around the corner I figured I could make some upgrades to the PC. - With PC games starting to become more demanding I was wondering if I should give AM5 a chance. Two issues I have with AM5 is everything is insanely priced and will I ever actually use the max power of DDR5 and PCIE Gen 5. - AM4 seems like a great choice from that point of view, but I don't want to spend a fortune on something that isn't going get any new CPUs. - For my next GPU I am looking more towards AMD for the affordability, performance, and security. - I mainly posted this to find more information about AM5. -Or should I wait or just get a PS5 lol

I just bought a new PC as an upgrade from my previous and it works great so far apart from the constantly flashing CPU cooler with no easy way to change to a different lighting mode or shut off completely. My motherboard is an ASUS PRIME B550M-K (Ryzen AM4) micro ATX motherboard and have tried using Aura Sync to change it but the software cannot recognise the cooler. I searched online and many said to make sure it's plugged into the 4-pin fan header which it is and it still can't be recognised by the software. Just to clarify, the cooler is the standard Hyper 212 and not the black edition (if there's a difference or not I'm not entirely sure). Can anyone help with this?
