Hey guys. My little brother is in Calgary, Canada, I work abroad in the mideast. He's been saving up for some time now and I was supposed to help him build his new PC. I wont be making it to him in time. We will try video calling so I will instruct him, I've done it once before with a friend but my brother isnt tech savvy or handy at all with electronics so it will be challenging. I think some really easy to use packaged parts are required. Like a Power supply with clearly labeled cables (maybe even one that comes with the case), the case may be premium enough have enough fans pre-installed and separates the screws for him with labels etc. (I will take recommendations for all of these if you guys have any). Most importantly, an AM4 CPU cooler that uses the default latch mechanic and preferably doesn't involve unscrewing the bracket from the motherboard and involves more points of difficulty/failure. All help is appreciated guys! Ty I'm recommending him an MSI B450-M Gaming motherboard with a 2400G, single slot graphics, his monitor is sub-1080p so it's not that intensive even. ~~~(Post was also put up on the AMD subreddit. Need help.)~~~ Edit: After some looking, I could only find AMD's own aftermarket wraith coolers to use the latch mechanism which I still think is the best route to go

Hi guys I'm looking to buy a new cooler for my Ryzen 5 1600 I'm not sure if I should get an air cooler or AIO but I think an air cooler would be better value So, with a budget of 40 euros, what would be the best cooler with priorities being 1. cooling, 2. noise, 3.aesthetics I want the best cooling for under 40 euros and ideally the cooler would be quieter under load than the stock wraith spire cooler. My build is black with red accents (thanks to my motherboard mostly), so that would be nice. I've considered a few: Hyper 212 evo, arctic freezer 33 and the Gelid phantom black, which appears to be a very good cooler but it does not fit my build in terms of aesthetics. Are there any better options in terms of noise/cooling than the Gelid? https://tweakers.net/pricewatch/887315/gelid-solutions-phantom-black.html Thanks for your advice

Hi there! I have read articles and seen multiple videos about the ryzen processors, what I found out was that you could buy the r5 2600 rather than the x version and overclock it. The 2600 version is able to perform just as the ryzen 5 2600x when overclocked and even better sometimes. Is this true? If so what motherboard and cooler should i pair up with the ryzen 5 2600. I don't want the motherboard or the processor to overheat. I plan on buying the MSI b450 tomohawk motherboard and the Artic Freezer 33 Esports one. Is the MSI b450 tomohawk able to overclock without problems or should i try looking at different motherboard. Same goes for the cooler. Thanks for help!

I was surprised how weak the retention kit, it was running fine for two days at least then I couldn't run the PC for more than a minute. I took a look inside the case and found it in pieces. I have contacted the support for replacement but no answer for more than a week, now I would even pay for a new one instead of settling for a replacement, but the issue is I can't even find it anywhere. (except for this link which says it is not available) Now I am posting it everywhere and hoping someone somewhere would be able to help.

I'm in need of thunderbolt 3 for a audio interface but also wish to use my computer for gaming and streaming. For some reason websites never update their product compatibility lists. So is there anyone that would know what boards are compatible with thunderbolt 3 cards on AM4 boards? I'm currently looking at the B450 AORUS Pro due to a current offer. And the Gigabyte Alpine Ridge Thunderbolt 3 Pcie (either 1.0 or 2.0). But is there a current list anywhere or does anyone know if the newer AM4 boards support it. it simply means for me, for power for less money. Can anyone help?

Will I be able to run two NVMe x4 storage on a B450 ITX motherboard / Ryzen 3000 without sacrificing the GPU PCIe lanes (x16)? I am confused on how many PCIe lanes Ryzen / AM4 are available for m.2 drives, since a B360 / i5-9400F can comfortably supply two NVMe x4 storage and a GPU @ x16 without any difficulty, while a B450 / Ryzen 2600 can only provide two NVMe x4 storage while the GPU @ x8...

So I have noticed that no one in the media has yet commented on the fact that AM4 with X570 will support up to 40 PCIe 4.0 lanes. That seems like huge news to me, but it does beg the question of where all of those lanes are coming from. According to the chart below by Anandtech (Source) all of the announced chips are 24 lanes available - x4 to the chipset, x16 or x8/x8 to PCIe slots, and x4 to m.2 NVMe is the usual AM4 breakdown. So where are the additional 16 lanes? Are they all on the chipset and sharing that x4 link to the cpu? Or do you think their 16 core that we all know they have coming at some point will have more lanes? I'd love to be able to take advantage of PCIe 4.0 and the other Ryzen 3000 features, but I do need more than 20 accessible lanes for my next build.

I have been looking to buy a mATX motherboard to make a LAN box with. I'm going AMD because a friend accidentally gifted me a ryzen CPU since he knew I was on an AMD system looking to upgrade. (I'm on FX processor lol) I'm all for used and open box items for a steal and have my eyes on a MSI B450 Mortar on Craigslist listed for $75 (hopping to wiggle down to $60 since it's been listed for over a month) I've looked at some basic reviews but come to you guys for a final thought, other than the risks of buying used, are there any reasons not to go with this board? And if so, what board would you recommend in it's place? Unfortunately this is been another case of people not removing their Craigslist post until another person asks if it's still available. All's well that ends well though, as I forgot third gen was coming out soon. So now I'll wait till new motherboard hit shelves to see what the landscape for mATX and mITX boards are then.

I bought ASUS ROG X470-F Gaming motherboard for my high-end 2700x Ryzen build. It works pretty well but I figured several frustrating issues with it after 5 months of usage that I would like to share with community here. This is a high-end ROG motherboard and I expected quality for the money. Apparently this is not the case with ROG brand anymore. There are hardware and software issues with this motherboard and it is nearly impossible to reasonably explain it to anyone on the Asus team. 1) Support team responds according to their standard answer sheet and is not helpful at all. And trying to post anything on official ROG forums is a tough quest. User is required first to PM some dude on the forum in order to get your profile verified to be able to post. I did. I never got verified. Just being able to find his profile and message button took me some time. 2 No proper VBE (VESA BIOS Extensions) support. This is especially annoying with ultrawide setups. Latest motherboard BIOS still does not have proper VBE support and will not properly detect your GPU until after OS boots up. Meaning that every time you boot it looks like your OS is having seizures because of re-scaling. And forget about nice looking smooth boot loaders like Clover. I dual boot Ubuntu and Windows. And this frustrates me every time I have to watch my PC boot. 3) RAM OC is unreliable. I am not very well experienced with this, however sometimes mobo fails to boot with XMP profile enabled, and motherboards leds indicating RAM failure. Boots up after few restarts, sometimes resetting all the settings back to defaults. RAM sticks are ok. Tested with AsRock motherboard. 4) Terrible ASUS software. System monitoring and control. Asus AI Suite is terrible and there is no SpeedFan support for this motherboard and only option you are left with is purchasing Argus Monitor. Software that comes with the motherboard is terrible. Other than ASUS AI Suite not being able to properly install itself (sometimes some of the utilities are missing even tho I use same installation package and tick same options) it is also caused my PC to crash. I get BSODs with latest AI Suite for my motherboard. Downloading newer AI Suite for higher tier mobo fixes this particular issues but comes with other problems like not being able to take full control over your fan speeds. Advertised AI Quick Charge just doesn't work. I've tried multiple different versions. It just sits there in your trays with disconnected icon over it. Other people reported this on the internet. But ASUS just doesn't care. You bought the product already. ASUS Aura has major security issues and has been used by cheaters to execute malicious code in games. Any game using EAC (pretty much every Unreal Engine 4 game) will not launch unless you manually kill LigthingControl process from task manager. According to EAC team, Asus have been informed about the issue and have done nothing. Some rant. Idk why business still insist on using proprietary software solutions for motherboard software. It gets outdated very quickly, they never fix the bugs and/or listen to the community feedback. And even every software iteration is often exclusive to one specific motherboard which means using newer versions for other same chipset/line up motherboards does not often work. I owned Gigabyte motherboard before and it had similar issues with the software, however I found a workaround by using newer version of software intended for other motherboards on same chipset. However once product was officially out of life cycle you basically receive no more updates for the motherboard software and often manufacturers purge/remove download links and files. I expected quality from the pricy ROG brand. Product quality, after sales support quality and software quality. Apparently I expected too much. So after 5 months I can't use any of the advertised ASUS features like quick charging and RGB control or even monitor/control my system sensors without help of paid thirty-party software. Definitely do not recommend. 190521032541.BMP

I was wondering, for a gaming focused channel starting out on youtube for £350 for the first pc what one is better. Most people would opt AMD due to the cheaper price-core ratio but intel has a higher upgrade path, and more games and software work better with intel (Games like CS:GO). I was just wondering because a friend has £500 but needs to get everything including a desk, microphone headphones monitor ect.

Hello, Im currently working on a project that requires the use of ECC memory. Id like to use a R7 2700 in this build for the higher clock speed, ECC support, and the high core count. The issue i'm coming into is finding an AM4 motherboard that supports ECC memory. Searching for them online, there are threads that say AM4 boards do support ECC memory but when I attempt to find one, its a lot more difficult. I've read that it doesn't validate but is still supported. Ultimately i'm trying to go around the standard xeon build for a server if possible. Are there any motherboards out there that support it? Thanks for help!

So I am looking for tips for a motherboard that will both support Ryzen 5 2600/2600X and has NVMe Boot. And I am having difficulty in finding many options. Will be grateful for any tips for maybe a site where such filters when choosing a motherboard are available. I am having difficulty with finding a site with NVMe Boot filter available for motherboards. I'm looking at RX 570 for my graphics solution, if that info is any help. To clarify, I'm from Russia and looking at hardware on russian sites. Maybe that is the reason for me not finding many options. Anyhow, any advice and tips are very much appreciated.

So is the am4 platform still suferring from same memory support issue or have they resolved it? I have a x470 ultra gaming but I don't know if I should buy 3000mhz module?? Cause what if it doesn't work on the rated speeds. It is hard to find samsung b die chips here so I would have to go with the hynix or micron rams. But before purchasing I want to make sure that is it right time or should I wait for ryzen 3000 series and maybe then the support will get better for my mobo?

What are some inexpensive am4 boards with t topology memory channel? I was wondering if it would be cheaper to go with 8gb of ram in dual channel and add 8 latter(2 more dimms).

There are only these 2 motherboards available here atm because everything else is out of stock or way too expensive. These 2 boards are at the same price. Which one should I buy? I heard a lot of bad reviews about Gigabyte x470 auros that it dies after few months etc. Can anyone who has been using it confirm this? Which one should I decide to buy please help.

Hello I want to buy an AIO, the reason is that there is no custom water cooling kit available in here. So I was searching around and find some really good AIO like Cooler Master MasterLiquid Lite 240 or Thermaltake Water 3.0 or Corsair Hydro H100x. But because of taxes they are very expensive and then I find out a local company that's been creating cooler for decades and their product is 360ml and far cheaper than the others with 18 months warranty. (Those from cooler master and ... start with 250 USD till 420 but this one is only 99 $ because no taxes.) BUT on it's page I saw its only compatible with till AM3+ but it support all of Intel's chipsets. Here is the product link. So should I pick this one or get one of those?

Hello there, i want to build myself a new pc, itx form factor to be precise. CPU will likely be a ryzen 2nd gen , ryzen 5 2600. Now i have a "old school" 5.1 sound setup, where my current motherboard has dedicated jacks for front, rear, and the center/sub combo jack. the following link is the price searching/comparing site (i live in germany but for the sake of writing english i switched to the uk variant) https://skinflint.co.uk/?cat=mbam4&v=e&hloc=de&hloc=uk&sort=t&xf=317_B450%7E326_7.1%7E4400_Mini-ITX So i looked for an itx board but to only see they claim to have 7.1 sound and only have 3 jacks(except the asrock but this seems to be not good(?)) https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/does-msi-b450i-have-7-1-audio.3372750/ here one does say it works if you plug the center/sub cable into the third jack and tell Realtek that it is a speaker. Does this work and does this work well? can you still use the front connector for a headset(mic and of course audio)(usb sound dongle would be fine if its only that problem)? or do i have to buy a shitty usb soundcard where there seems to not exist a good one.

My new PC works fine when its first installed, but when I update it, the screen goes black and does not display. The SSD light stick flickers a little, indicating that its doing something (I imagine). I tried taking out the CMOS battery, unplugging, and holding power button. that did not work. I set the boot drive to the SSD. I think the problem may be the display out, as there is no GPU and I am trying to use the integrated graphics.I'm using HDMI (the only other option is displayport, which my monitor does not have. The motherboard may be problematic, as the reviews for it were not very good. The problem may also be the drive-- I get the "Reboot and select proper boot device" error if I set it to boot from the SSD, and I get a blank screen if I use Windows Boot Manager. 2200G Gigabyte b450 DS3H Motherboard (Bios version from 08/08/2018) 8 GB Corsair vengeance RAM 400w EVGA PSU 500 GB M.2 Crucial MX500 SSD Cooler Master Q300L Case Monitor: Dell S2716DG ***SOLVED: After installing windows, the computer stopped displaying because of the automatic display driver update. Hi I need help. I bought a Ryzen 5 2400g APU for one of my clients. At first it would output through with the integrated graphics but after those tries it started to lag + it wont turn on after shutting down for the night (MSI VGA LED turned on). So I thought the solution was just buying a graphics card (just put in a 960, then output through the graphics card),disabled the igpu in bios, but still didnt solve the problem. So I ultimately decided to swap out the 2400g apu for a R5 1600 CPU, My question is, would I need to clear bios or remove something etc? or just pop in the new cpu, then let it boot?
