So I ordered the Lian Li V3000+ what I want to do is cover the bottom of the Case. I know I can use Acrylic. but I would like to use a sheet of Aluminum. I just don't know what thickness or what tools I would need to screw it to the case. I don't want to stick it on the case. I would like to actually screw it on. Any advice would be helpful. would I need to thread the Aluminum and if so what tool do you use? what paint would you recommend to color the sheet of metal? I am trying to make a clean look at the bottom where my hardline tubes will pass thru. this is my first time attempting this kind of mod. please any advice or tips.

Hey, Does anyone know if the casing of the MSI creator z16 is full Aluminum, or just part wise? And does anyone have a picture of the inside of the laptop? What do you think about this device in general?

hello everyone =) has anyone found out what type of waterblock the xtreme waterforce 3090 has, if it's copper, brass or aluminum? i'm referring to the xtreme waterforce without the AIO. Correct me if i'm wrong, please: i have a copper rad. having a brass plated block or a copper block, is ok for a copper loop right? it's just if other metal is aluminum is the problem. is my understanding correct? thanks in advanced! chris

Hi guys Question 1: If u have an AIO cooler with a 360rad and a custom loop with a 360rad, is it the fact that the Custom Loop is using copper in the rad or the fact that the custom-pump moves the water faster? (Jayz2cents made a vid claiming that pumpspeed dont matter) (i know that its kinda both but if you needed to pick 1...? Qustion 2: lets say i wanna make an custom loop out of AIOs... (3) Should i replace all the aliminuim rads and go for all copper? (the CPUblock-PUMP combo has copper) thanks guys

Hi guys Long story short: I made my own CPU-block on my CNC mill and would like to test it. However, I made it out of aluminium because its much easier to mill and now I can't seem to find radiators with aluminium pipes in them to avoid galvanic corrosion. Is there something im missing? All I see are copper and brass radiators (inside materials) which shouldn't be mixed with aluminium. Can you point me to a respectable manufacturer (not Aliexpress/Amazon no-name rads)? Thanks for the help Chrys

to start hello its been a while sense ive been here. Hi ? so I've had a issue with noise constantly being a issue for working and i in past years have come into income that i can now use to see this project through I want to have a system as quiet as i possibly can with also the ability to cool high end system the sacrafical pentium d from a thrift dell tower using linux i set the cpu to just ramp to 100% use for set times for testing the loop my retention method was not tight enough and so added coin spacer. because of testing and the wip of this build thermal grease would be a pain so 30x30mm and 40x40mm graphite pads used.i purchased a ek aluminum am4 block because the china block was proof of concept and didn't have the thermal transfer i needed. the anti corrosive i am using is fernox f1 this is used in mixed metal water boilers and the water on the left is 1 year of a steel nail and copper tube and aluminum fitting the right is fernox f1 and tap water 2200g 8gb ram gigabyte ab350n itx the system is still a wip the flex tape failed after 4 months the adhesive melted due to 60-80c temps on the aluminum more to come later sorry for piss poor formatting cheers transplanting myself here from other forums. have fun with this

Hey guys! Wasn't sure whether to post this in here or case mods, so I just picked this one. I've been designing my own custom Pc case in sketchup for the past few months, slowly learning things like which bits are needed to drill holes for motherboard standoffs, and what the dimensions are for a properly placed and sized I/O cutout. This is the design I've come up with so far! I wanted a nice triangular design. I knew it might be awkward to fit all the components I want inside that, but I took the time to make sure everything was spaced correctly. Also, at the tip of each point of the triangle, there is a small rectangular cutout which I would use to mount the pc on the wall, if I wanted to do so. Another design element I'll be implementing is hardwood panels to be fitted on the front triangular panel, around the fan cutout. These would be interchangeable for different themes, with their own carved designs and led light accentuation. For example, one theme would be Harry Potter. The case itself is a triangle, and the acrylic cutout at the front is a circle. So a wood panel with the elder wand going up the middle with some diffusive acrylic at the tip, and some blue/white LEDs to make it seem like the tip is lighting up, would turn the front into the Deathly Hallows! Any thoughts/notes?

Ok, although the title may be confusing, I want to know if I could replace a fluid gaming kit slowly until its fully copper but I don't know the specifics of it. I know AIOs mix metals and that I can add ethylene glycol to slow galvanic corrosion but I don't know what the ratio of water to ethylene glycol would be. Is there a way I could replace the parts from an EK A240 that are aluminum (Pump, Rad, Block, Fittings) with copper while running a ratio of water and ethylene glycol. I forget if the copper, aluminum or both corrodes in a mix metal setup so if you could say that too that'd be helpful. My current plan would be Buy A240 -> Replace 4 parts over 18 months, while adding ethylene glycol -> Have a full copper loop and upgrade that. Thanks in advance.

Hello everybody. I had a Sony Vaio laptop, bought in 2010 and the time has come to change it because it doesn't cut it anymore. The usage is mainly web development, very simple image processing (change the colors a little bit, resize images and add a few filters, that sort of stuff) and gaming (but not major titles, mostly strategy, like XCOM for example). Right now the apps I use are PhpStorm, Visual Studio, Navicat, Photoshop. What I am looking for is (in order of importance) Screen: 15.6" CPU: Quad/Hexa Core, would prefer 8th-Gen i5-i7 GPU: at least GTX 1050 / 1050 Ti (this is probably an overkill for the games I play, but since I plan to keep this laptop for another 8 years hopefully , I would like a GPU that can handle future games). I could accept an MX150 for now if I have a Thunderbolt 3 available (see point below) USB-C, Thunderbolt 3. This is also important. Like i said I plan to have this laptop for a while, so being able to hook an external GPU adds to its longevity Numpad. Strangely enough, I use it all the time, so I really need it Chassis: Aluminum, thin and light and also (this part is important) not gaming. I plan on using this in the office and I want it to be discreet (so not rgb backlight or various colorful decals) SSD: 256GB HDD: it would be nice to have a second HDD for the simple files but it is not a deal breaker if it doesn't Battery: now, this is not very important as most of the times I use it plugged in and I will have a power bank with me I do not care about the OS, I already have a licence for Win10 Pro that I can use and I also will install Linux. Location: Greece but I do have relatives in the US and Canada that can purchase it for me and send it. Budget: around $1800 (~1500€), of course the less I spend the better. I was going to buy the Dell XPS15 9570 but unfortunately it doesn't have a numpad (though if I cannot find anything else I will probably buy an external one) and I also looked at some of the HP Premium laptops (but I am confused if they support thunderbolt 3 or not). Thank you in advance

Ok let's try this agian take number two. I want to actually build my next computer with that being said I'm new to this as I never have done this before. Things i have; 1 raidmax delta 1 case 1 1050 ti 1 1tb Samsung evo860 sdd 1 1tb Seagate hdd 1 static free work mate from Ifixit with grounding loop 1 ifixit pro kit. Now I am getting mother bored that can handle icore7 8700k The case can at least one 360mm rad I wanna use "blowyatrons" and there good fans. My issues is my issure I rad and all water blocks I dont wanna mix copper and aluminum. And am wondering what the empeller is made of in the D5 and mcp655 pumps as that is what like to use. And I want a rgb Reservoir as the rest of the tubs will be color. Now we are only talking cpu and expand to gpu. Later I am not trying to cheap out on these parts as they as they are transplant able from one computer to another. Hope this is enough to to work with.

Do you guys know whether the second part of a Mayhems Blitz cleaning kit will play nice with an EK Aluminum system? (Note, PART TWO - that's the general system cleaner, NOT the more extreme radiator-specific cleaner! I'm pretty sure that Part ONE is NOT compatible with aluminum, on account of Mayhems explicitly saying so!)

I bought an EK Fluid Gaming kit second hand - and after a few months of operation, the pump died. Second buyer = no RMA. I COULD buy a replacement pump - but I ALSO have an Aquastream XT pump lying around, which would work just fine in the system. Problem: to be used with 13/10 tubes and g1/4 fittings, the aquastream pump needs a 1/8-1/4 adapter - and the one I have is naturally NOT aluminum. I think it's nickel - but whatever it is, I can't use it. You guys have ANY idea where I could find an ALUMINUM adapter?? (I've sent mails to EK and aquastream, but I thought I'd ask here too!)

scratch built Roisin Dearg (a Scratch Built "Modular" Case)
Lady Fitzgerald posted a topic in Build Logs
A little over a year and a half ago, I started working on a case for a new computer to replace my aging one. Unfortunately, I ran into frequent delays due to life happening (including my toilet falling through the floor while I was taking care of business, blowing out my back) and various health issues (being a handicapped, flatulent geriatric doesn't help any). I'm finally getting back to work on the thing, which has become a higher priority since the aforementioned aging computer just died (trying to do anything I had been doing on the late desktop machine, other than web surfing, on my little notebook ranges from being a total pain to completely impossible). The name of the new computer is Roisin Dearg (roe-sheen dare-ug), which is Irish Gaelic for Red Rose (actually, Rose Red). To hopefully make this the last case I ever need to build (I'm too old for this kind of stuff anymore), I'm making it as modular as possible so I can just swap out, add, or remove portions of it as technology or my mind changes instead of tearing down the machine so I can do major surgery on the case or have to build a new one. To achieve this, the MOBO tray is removable. The case has 14 5.25" bays I can put in things like an optical drive (don't laugh, I still use ODDs for ripping optical discs), a switch panel, the front panel I/O, various hot swap bays, my SSD cages (I've switched over to all SSDs), storage drawers for small items like USB sticks), and anything else I may happen to want or need. Whenever practical, I'm "stealthing" the 5.25" devices for a cleaner look. The frame is made from 80/20 aluminum extrusions. The top, front, and two side panels are held on by magnets for a cleaner look. While the frame and inner panels will be all satin black, the top, front, and two side panels will be covered with a highly figured Anigre wood veneer. I'll make most of the power cables myself but they won't be individually sleeved; I prefer to hide my cables as much as possible. The left side panel will have a small, tempered glass window. Also, since I live in the dusty Phoenix, AZ area and live in a mobile home that isn't exactly dust proof, I've designed the case to take a 10" x 20" pleated paper air filter which fits in the floor of the case. There are eight 120mm fans for pulling air through the filter and four exhaust fans, one in the back and three on top. I will also be putting sound deadening foam inside the case. I have it in the deceased computer and really makes a difference in the amount of noise the computer puts out. I could barely hear it from two to three feet away at my desk and not at all from further away. I was running a build log over on OCN Forums but their ownership recently changed and the forums were migrated to another platform that makes posting photos a royal pain in the neck (actually, the pain is about two feet lower). Since migrating everything there over to here would be a massive undertaking I just don't feel up to doing, here a couple of links to what I have already over on OCN: http://www.overclock.net/forum/15-case-mods/1602023-preparing-scratch-built-case.html http://www.overclock.net/forum/15-case-mods/1632464-roisin-dearg-scratch-built-case-part-2-preparing-scratch-built-case.html I've been ready to paint the various panels of the build and the frame for quite some time but every time my health was behaving, the weather wasn't. Today, health and weather cooperated although I had a pretty narrow window to get the painting done before it got too hot so I was able to get all the panels painted today. Hopefully, I'll get the frame painted Saturday or Sunday, depending on the weather. Anyroad, here are some shots of what it looked like today after I finished painting: I managed to get all the panels back into the house and everything put away before dark. Right now, my tired hurts (along with the rest of my carcass) and I'll probably hibernate all day tomorrow. -
Is there an aluminium/aluminum GPU waterblock for the Zotac GTX 1060 6GB AMP! Edition graphics card. I’m trying to look into the EK Fluid Gaming’s A240G. (https://www.ekfluidgaming.com/ek-kit-a240g) Here’s the link for the card: https://www.zotac.com/us/product/graphics_card/zotac-geforce-gtx-1060-amp-edition

Does anyone know of any purple coolant that is aluminum safe? I was looking at the Vue Candy Purple but it said do not use with aluminum.

I'm trying to find a solution for a drain port on an aluminum loop, but I've been seemingly out of luck. I found an acrylic splitter that I can put some of EK's fittings into but I've been hard pressed to find a G1/4 male to male adapter to plug it into my pump, and then I also need to find some sort of ball valve of plug so I can seal off the port with a tube connected. Thanks.

I'm looking into a kit from the EK fluid gaming line-up (A-240) and I wanted to get the blood red dye (100ml concentrate) and I wasn't sure if it would cause problems with the clear concentrate they provide you or if you would use the red dye as a substitute for the included clear? This is gonna be my first watercooling setup outside of AIOs so I'm not sure about any of this especially because of the aluminum radiator and block ect...

Is it possible to change my HP Laptop's plastic case to an Aluminum Case?
-
what if you were to add one of these to cool the VRM? I don't need any comments about copper, trust me i'm an engineer.... it's aluminum on purpose there is a copper variant of this. to be fair a flattened pipe would be about the same i recon but i'm pitching the concept here.

Hello! I'm new to water-cooling and am looking to build my first loop. Since I am super cheap I am trying to buy parts for as cheap as possible. Because of this, I don't want to buy the "standard" EK Pump/Reservoir that matches the rest of my copper stuff. Instead, I found an XSPC X4 Photon 270mm Reservoir/Pump (aluminum I think). My problem is that I have a copper water-block and radiator. Will the aluminum pump/reservoir hurt my loop? If I use an anti-corrosive fluid will it be ok? Thanks for the help! lahren1

Hello again, nice people on this forum! I'm here to make more questions everyone finds hard to answer I'll keep it short: I'm looking for a case with the following characteristics: black, brushed aluminum like finish, windowed, micro atx, ample filtered front intake and direct airflow path towards the back (I kind of like the define mini C, but I also think it looks kind of cheap). Also: do you know any forums with nice computer design pictures? I'm looking to get inspired Hope you can help me and thanks in advance for your attention
