My motherboard is a MSI Z270 M7, can't tell if it is a usb problem or a software problem as the trend appears to happen when I plug my keyboard in the bottom most usb slot of my mobo. To my knowledge the Kraken pulls some power from USB, should I switch where it is pulled in my mobo from cpu_fan1 to pump_fan1 Pls help, the annoyance is real lol.

Well i have bought a dell g5 with i7-8750H and GTX-1060max-q lets say half a year ago and i really got into playing games(mainly fps such as Destiny 2) and i noticed that my laptop was throttling nearly every minute, on the details the game determined to be optimal for me, from around 80 fps to 30 ish and sometines even as low as 15 fps in some intense pvp matches so i naturally adjusted some details to low preset actually but still there are some occasional drops to 30-40 fps...so i was thinking of buying a cooling pad for my laptop to upgrade the thermals to be able to play at least at medium preset...can someone please recommend a brand or a specific pad that would make a difference for a reasonable price

Hi i have a 7700k and a deepcool gammaxx 400 and my temps are low 80s when playing games it was a prebuilt given to me and the thermal paste application is ok i just want to know what is the best cooling solution for a decent price, was looking at dark rock pro4 and non pro but dont really want to pay 80+ dollars i also intend to overclock a few years from now when my cpu is a bottle neck

So I am doing a full overhaul of a former small form factor build. here's the MOBO: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813119163 as I have already purchased the motherboard I have come up to a bit of a snag, originally the plan was to do an AIO water cooler, but I have since been scared away by the horror stories of leaks that many seem to have experienced. From this point I determined that I would go with the Noctua NH-D15 since everyone seems to recommend it for the 8700k. That being said, on the Z370-A II there is a sizeable hunk of heatsinking and plastic that covers the IO portion of the board and I am worried that this beefy cooler won't fit. I've already had enough issues finding ram that was low clearance enough to fit, but as a college student I really can't afford to buy a new board. Anyone know if it will fit in duel fan mode? if not, any suggestions on alternatives? Thanks!

I have a Meshify C with 3 Noctua Industrial PPC fans, two font one top and one fan that came in the case, is this an okay setup? or should I try something else?

Hi Guys, I just recently build my 1st PC (previously just own gaming laptop). My build is using Cooler Master Master Box MB500 TUF Gaming Edition ATX Gaming Case come with Three 120mm RGB Fans. 2 of the fans in the front for intake and 1 at the back as exhaust fan. I'm thinking to add more fans for the cooling my system as I'm planning to Overclock my GPU(Vega 56) and upgrade my CPU to the 3rd gen Ryzen CPU once it's out. Do u think I should have 3x120mm for intake and 3x120mm for exaust OR 2x140mm for intake and 3x120mm for exaust is better for the air flow? I'm still new in this area & your advise is much appreciated. English is my 3rd language sorry for the grammatical error . Thanks, Khan

So I have a Gigabyte Aero 14 (i7-7700HQ, GTX 1060 6GB) and I'm currently using it with my 2 monitors as a triple monitor setup for gaming (only using one of them for the actual game). But in order for the laptop to stay cool (in this case meaning 75°C on GPU and 85°C on the CPU) the fans need to do 4k-4.3k rpm which produces a rather unpleasant jet noise (even at max rpm of 5700 the temperatures don't seem to change much while the noise is unbearable), it's not too bad to be honest but I had an idea to connect a pipe to the vent hole in my room which is located pretty much just above me, I would then make a stand for the laptop that would connect the pipe to the fan intakes on the bottom. I thought this may work because my room temperature is always around 21-22°C while the outside is way cooler with winter temps being around 5-13°C (rarely goes below zero even at night). My main dilemma is condensation, personally I don't think that this should be an issue unless the intake air reaches a significant below zero temperature, but then again this being Ireland the average annual humidity is in the neighborhood of 80%. Also, if I was to change my thermal compound which one would you suggest I used (it's currently rocking the default which I don't know anything about or how it compares to some higher tier stuff). Thanks in advance for any help or advise.

Disclaimer: I guess this could be considered a mod post but I am less interested in the modding and process of modding itself and more with the cooling theory/practice behind it. Forgive me I haven't been active in a while. I have a Leno ThinkCentre M72e 3264 that I purchased to use as a MC server for me and my friends. It's obviously much quieter a more compact than the tower I was using before so I've taken to running it 24/7. My concern however is that from time to time it'll get a decent bit louder and the chassis will be fairly warm to the touch. While I'm sure it's technically fine I'm worried about it affecting it's longevity (and overall quietness) and have considered attaching a fan to the top of it in some way. This is something I had considered briefly while purchasing it but what I didn't realize was that it uses a blower style cpu fan that comes out the front, and only, exhaust. I'm hoping to give some of my thought process here as to what or what not to do and see if you guys can give me some advice on what to do, or if it'll even be worth it, because quite frankly I'm not sure if any of this is even accurate to how airflow and air cooling works. Original Idea: Drill a few holes on top and mount a fan to help blow out the hot air Cpu uses blower style so I'd be going against the Cpu's main fan as opposed to aiding it Would probably just suck out and fresh air from the passive intake vents 2. Just cool the chassis: Drill only the mounting holes ontop and mount a fan to help cool the chassis which will in turn help keep the rest of it cool Even with a thin fan I'd probably have to make sure it's raised a bit which would effect it's effect size but not much Is this even a thing????? Cool Chassis = Effectively Cooler Components???? 3. Drill some holes or cut out a square and cover it with a filter of some sort Give it more fresh/cooler air to work with Might compromise it's intended airflow? (Could the fan handle pushing more air?) 4. Get over it, it isn't worth it but i guess you can do -blank- for luls I appreciate the help.

I build my personal rig a few weeks ago in this Silverstone Grandia GD09 HTPC case. I am planning to buy 120mm fans for the left and right side. (Noctua only) Should i go with 2 120mm fans for each side or should i buy 2 for the right and 1 for the left. Which one should be an intake and which one out. If yes.. Should i go for the high airflow NF s12a or the all round best NF A12? This is my current setup. It has a 80mm intake fan on the left and a outtake on the back, a nh u9s cpu cooler with a extra 92mm fan and on the right side the stock 120mm fan that came with the case. The temperatures of my ryzen 7 3700x (stock clock speeds) are around 45-65 degrees Celsius while internet browsing, 65-70 degrees when at full load. And 65-75 degrees while gaming (PUBG, Modernwarfare) (What are your experiences with your 3700x? Let me know) Thank you!

Hey LTT community, Like the title suggests I have two Nvidia Titan RTX GPUs and I'm running them in NV-link for deep learning purposes (sorry, not a gamer ). I have a Fractal Design Meshify S2 TG case with five 14cm fans (see pictures, three push (front), two pull (in rear) to create overpressure) but the top card keeps thermal throttling under load. I've read that the dual fan cooling is not ideal for multi gpu setups, but I am still asking if there is a way to improve airflow or any suggestions you guys might have to prevent thermal issues. I'm using the 4-slot nv-link bridge to create as much space as possible but still no luck. I looked at watercooling the GPUs but since they are not mine, I cant take them apart to mount the waterblock. Any suggestions are welcome! I currently lose out on about 20% performance due to thermal constraints :( PS. the case fans are set to full power, gpu fans are controlled by Nvidias drivers (under ubuntu) but go up to max rpm under load so its not a fan issue. Also, I took off the glass panel to take the pictures but that is on when I run the system (dustfilters would be useless otherwise ? )

Hello people. I was wondering if any user of a Gigabyte Rtx 2060 Gpu has been able to find an aftermarket air cooling solution for this card as it does not seem to be compatibñe with ani of the Arctic Cooling accelero Heatsink and Fan combo, nor with the Rajintech MORPHEUS Heatsink... Has anyone found an alternate to the stock fan/heatsink? Any help will be much appreciated. Best regards. Mike.

Phanteks P400S, Do I plug in the fan pins in my MotherBoard?.
Dibowac4178N posted a topic in Cooling
Yeah I am not sure where to put them, the cables are in these 2 ping connectors, and I don't know If I have to put those fan pins in my Mother-board or just leave them as they are. [02-01-2020-20_18.]- 7 replies

So im building a whole new system, and the only part im on the fence about is the cpu cooler. It will be cooling a 9700k in a Define C case. Id like to OC it to ~4.5Ghz atleast and possibly more depending on the silicone lottery. Anyway these two are what it came down to for me. Looking at youtube reviwes they seem almost identical in performance, with the bigger NH-D15 being a few degrees cooler than the NH-U12A. However a few also said these new fans on the U12A have a lower pich noise and are one of the least annoying ones to listen to. Having read a few topics here it seems people are a bit more in favor of the D15 saying its quieter. I thought about going with the U12A for the aesthetic reasons but im not sure anymore. Price isn't an issue. Can a few people chime in with their experience? Thanks in advance!

Hello LinusTechTips, I am building my first PC this month and need some advice regarding fan set up on a Fractal Design Meshify C case. The main components of my build will consist of a i7-8700K, an ASUS ROG Maximus X Code motherboard, and a EVGA GTX 1080Ti SC2. I will be cooling my i7-8700K with a Noctua NH-D15 and would like to know if two Corsair LL140mm fans (front intakes) and one Corsair LL120mm fan (rear exhaust) will be sufficient to keep my components nice and cool with good temps. Another set up I have in mind is three LL120mm fans in the front, two on top, and one on the rear. However, I have been told that having a beefy CPU air cooler eliminates the necessity of having fans at the top of your case. I would appreciate some clarification and input from you guys on whether the information regarding the air cooler is valid or not; as well as your opinions on what fan set up is best for my components and this case. Thank you! - Sageboy

So I'm planning on replacing my acrylic glass window with a stainless steel woven wire cloth/mesh(http://www.industrialmetalmesh.com/sale-10112309-t-304-stainless-steel-woven-wire-mesh-metal-mesh-screen-30m-roll-length-for-screening.html) after seeing how cooler my pc runs with the glass window off. I have a conventional balanced air pressure fan placement (2 intake, 2 exhaust) in a matx case (https://www.rakk.ph/Rakk-Anyag-Gaming-Case-Black/n/e8cc43742ef41bf114b0448bdefae0b27a338b56.html). Before, while gaming, I'm getting a gpu temp of 83 C and a cpu temp of 76 C in a closed case, but after removing the window, the temps dropped to 73 C and 65 C respectively. Do think this would be a good idea?

Hello, I have seen so many mixed opinions online about air cooling with an i7-8700k and was wondering what the recommended cpu cooler would be. In my previous build I have a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo, and since I'm trying to save parts to save money because of a lower upgrade budget, I'm curious if that cpu cooler (roughly 5yrs old) would be sufficient in my new i7 build.

hi Reddit, quick question about case fans. The case I bought comes with 2 120mm fans installed. I bought 4 RGB 120mm case fans and I’d like to place them at the rear and front. That means I’ll have to remove the 2 other ones and place them at the top/bottom. First of all, how should I install my case fans, intake or exhaust? then second of all, where should I place the remaining 2 case fans, bottom or top, and should they be intake or exhaust? Thanks in advance EDIT: if any more information is needed feel free to ask.

Hi Guys, I am thinking of replacing my Noctua - NH-D9L(six months old), i have two reasons for this, one is that i am building a PC for my partner and she may need a better fan and this could be it. On the other hand this would fit in my build better(Colour Scheme) and better a better cooler i think... based on the max TDP. I am not by any means an expert on air coolers and have no interest in a water cooler at all. Would this be an upgrade or would this be a waist of time? Please see the link below of my current built and honestly the cost doesn't bother me so its not a factor due to wanting to get a better air cooler for my partners new build anyhow. Many thanks for taking the time to read this in advance. https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/b/2KMZxr

Hey, I have a question if a Dark Rock Pro 4 would fit in a Photios 250, I´m kinda confused about the "depth (????)" of the cooler and would need advice. I´d like to get my i5 8600k to 5GHZ, and if the Dark Rock Pro 4 doesn´t fit - Any other recommendations?

Hello everyone I recently built a gaming pc with a Ryzen 5 3600 (with the stock crap cpu cooler)and a gtx 1650 super OC from Msi. While playing cpu demanding games my cpu tempurature goes up to 93 Celcious and my pc sounds like a jet engine.. I want to replace the stock crap cooler with an aftermarket one but I also do not have alot of money for watercooling or high end air cooler. I saw a video on an Aliexpress Cpu cooler (https://www.aliexpress.com/i/32958534669.html) and i wonder is it a good idea to use an 25 euro aliexpress cpu cooler and will it keep my pc cool n quiet? Also I want to add that I dont overclock my cpu cause of warranty and the ryzen 5 3600 doesn't hold my gpu back in the games I play.

Right now this is my first PC build i have ever done. I have my computer here and it sits at graphics card 43* idle and CPU at 48* idle. When I play high graphics games i get 70* on GPU and in the 60s for the CPU. I don't know if i have my fans in great spots and if anyone can suggest me on where the best spots would be for them to help my case air flow that would be amazing! Also don't mind cable management i know its bad. My fans right now are 3 on top 3 on the bottom and the GPU is a 3 fan on the bottom of it. I know at least one needs to move to the backside of the CPU cooler or just buy another fan for the CPU cooler but that what I know for now. Thanks guys! Fans are Corsair LL120s

Before mods take this post down I would like to inform that I do not want to know if Air cooling is better than water or vice versa, Neither do i want to start a debate. Because people here are from all over the planet and might have much better experiences than I do, and hence I want to know what steps can I take to make my setup run cooler. The case is Thermaltake Versa N27 Average temps here are 29-30C in rainy season, 33-35C in summer and 24-27C in winter. System consists of Asus Z270F Gaming mobo, i7 6700k not overclocked by me, CM Hyper 212x with one fan pushing out to the rear exhaust. Asus strix R9 390X, Antec 750W PSU, 8GB RAM, 500GB HDD and a 512GB nvme SSD. The case has the following mounts for fans: 2x120mm in front, 2x120mm up and one 120 rear. The PSU sucks the air in from down below pushes it back and has a dust shield down. I have installed 2 fans in front for intake, one rear for exhaust which also does the job of sucking the CPU air out as the air cooler is closer to the fan and no fans on top. And despite of all this, under load the system goes above 80C while editing videos or playing games (GPU and CPU both) It used to cross 90C but I had a Corsair H60i lying around with a failed pump so I installed it's fan in the front. Now. I was thinking if I can use the H60 radiator by creating a custom water cooled loop for the CPU. I have read that AIO rads do not have the mounting which is in custom rads but I can try to buy one if it helps. Would adding more good quality fans in the case would bring out a better result in this case? (2x intake front, 2x exhaust up, 1 exhaust rear) Or A water cooling solution would be perhaps better given the high ambient temps all around the year? Also, The HDD cage is right behind the front fan intake, and the GPU has 3 fans, so I guess the front fans must have a better airflow I guess? Case image attached below
