Hi! So the title pretty much says it all. I want to build a mid level gaming pc and I'm not sure, firstly, if I should get a cooler and just stick with the stock cooler or buy a cooler. Secondly, should I use a liquid cooler or air cooler I have no idea. What would be the best thing to do and if I should get a cooler what would be the best cooler (performance) for its price. Thanks in advance

I have seen a few youtube videos of people doing case mods and other stuff and they put air coolers like the noctua d15 on there 9 or 10 series graphics card. yes its noisier buts considerably cooler. whats peoples opinions on this. i know the 20xx series has other bits other than the cpu that over heats but i find i'm tempted to cool it with a noctua or bequiet. for the record i refuse to go water cooling on my new build cause the pc will be moved semi regularly and water coolers (even brand all in one, ones) have a tendency to dislike being moved. I'm geting a lan case to make it easyer to move.

Hiya everyone, I recently built a new pc, and I've been experimenting with RGB lighting (yes, im a huge rgb kid xd). anyways, i wanted to try out the usb 2.0 fan control, since its more advanced, and i wanted to change from the usual 4 pin i was using it with. However, I really want to sync it up to my motherboard effects. My motherboard is an asus prime x570 pro (it uses aura sync, naturally). any help is appreciated

So I originally planned on buying a 5800x, but after being disappointed by the unexpectedly high price, I sought out the best AM4 processor I could for around $350, and ended up snagging a used 3900x on ebay for $354. However, it recently dawned on me that the best cooler I have in the house is a wraith prism currently cooling my 3600. I knew I had to overhaul my cooling, but I'm kinda picky with the aesthetics with my build, so I went about finding the best looking, and performing cooler, for a good price. Well, the 'good price' bit flew out the window, because I ended up deciding on a Noctua NH U12S ($70) with 2 RGB fans ($34 total) and a chromax cover for the head pipes ($20) for a total of $124 for a single air cooler. This is pretty much the best I could do for a cooler that fits my requirements for aesthetics, but the price leaves something to be desired, so what I need to know is performance. Will a push+pull setup on the U12S be enough to cool a 3900x? I mainly play VR games at 120hz and do video editing on the side so I don't expect to be reaching extreme temperatures, but I at least want to keep it at a respectable temp at all times. Sub 70, if I could choose. Would this cooler be able to do that? Edit: for clarification, I decided on these parts but haven't actually purchased anything yet, sorry if it was confusing. Additionally, I know this doesn't have anything to do with cooling, but atm I have 7 ARGB devices in my system and my controller box only has 8 headers, so if I got 2 RGB fans for this cooler, I would have to find a way to connect them. Would both fans work off of one header if I bought a splitter for them?

Is there any liquid/air coolers that will cool overclocking on a 3600 or 2700x? Please let me know!

So I'm going to get a big air cooler for my CPU sence I given a Ryzen 7 3800XT and sence was told originally that it was a 3700x I planned on using the stock cooler and calling it a day, well the 3800XT doesn't have a stock cooler so I'm using the Wraith Spire that came with my 3600x. Now I also have a R9 Fury X (a lot of Xs in my build I know... AMD love the letter X) but right now I have it's Radiator positioned as the computer's only exaulst fan. I could move it to the top, but then because of the clarence of my case it either hits the motherboard's VRM heatsync and where it does have clarence in the front it doesn't reach the tubing is too short so it doesn't reach the graphics card. Is this a concern for getting a new air cooler for the CPU? Do I need to figure out a way to route the AIO in a different way or maybe buy a couple fans to use as exaulst on the top?

Hello o7, So I bought a new pc (3950x, 64gb ram) , but kept my old case ( a Cooler Master CM690 III ) and i'm willing to buy a new air cooler and a new case, Dark Rock Pro 4 / MasterBox TD500 Mesh. In the Case specifications, it's saying that the cpu clearance is 165 mm, and for the DRP 4, the height is 162.8, so everything is fine, my question is : does the case clearance for a cpu air cooler begins from the motherboard ? Just to make sure it all fits, like said in this website below. Thanks for your response :)

I'm planning to buy an adequate cooler I don't know if a 120mm AIO is good enough or just stick to air cooler. Hyper 212 is currently out of stock in here and the gammaxx 400 is only at $25 while the CM 120 lite aio is around at $45. My Case can only support 120 rad. CPU: I7-4770K @ 3.5 Ghz Temps Idle - 48c avg. Gaming (Bfv) - 71c avg. If you have a suggestion let me know Sorry for bad english

I was wondering whether i could get away with the stock cooler that comes with the 3600 or it would be worth getting something like the CM Hyper 212 or Cryorig m9a

I've a rig with stock intel cooler fan. Ideally the temp is around 50-60 C. Under stress, cpu temps reach 100 C easily. Please give me suggestions for a good upgrade. Processor : Intel i5-4460 with stock cooler

So, I am going to probably get amd ryzen 5 1600 and overclock it. Usually people say that the cooler that comes with it is not enough. Tell me advice that how much I should spend on air cooler. My budget is around 1k€ including the monitor

Hey guys, i'm totally new to this overclocking thing. I have recently build a new gaming system and am interested in doing some mild overclocking. I'm currently running on a, Z370 Gaming plus Mobo i5 8600k Cyrorig H7 Quad Lumi Seasonic 650w psu I'm interested to know a few things, 1) is it possible to overclock to 4.5 ghz with my current air cooler? Roughly what kind of temps would i be looking at this speed? 2) I did a bit of reading and what are the "safe voltages" at? I see quite a few users saying its at 1.28 to 1.375v 3) Do i need to update to the latest bios version before overclocking? 4) Is my current PSU enough to do this overclocking? Really would appreciate any help here, I mainly game a lot on RPG, RTS & MMO games. I have always been interested in trying my hand at overclocking, to get that extra performance power but at the same time been too afraid to try.

So I recently built a pc with an i7-8700 (locked) and a gtx 1060 6gb, but I think even for a non overclocking cpu, a stock cooler and the 2 case coolers are too little for a build like this. Is it worthy to replace my stock cpu with another air cooler, if so, what's a good one under $50. Last of all, if I do come across to replacing my cpu cooler, is it safe to remove my stock cooler which already has pre-applied thermalpaste, and then mount a different air cooler? Will everything still work smoothly and will it affect the noise of the coolers?

I am planning to build a PC based on AMD Ryzen 7 2700X and I am not planning to overclock the CPU but I want to achieve maximum performance out of the CPU non-overclocked. I heard that AMD's XFR2 allows all the cores to reach 4.2GHz but the cooler included with the CPU can't achieve that so are there any good air coolers that can achieve that. Also, being able to overclock the CPU with the air cooler would be good.

I am working on new gaming PC and looking for a cooler but the site from which I am buying everything (live in spain - https://www.pccomponentes.com/ -- you may need VPN to access, they seem to be region blocked) don't have many air cooler options. I think the best air cooler option that fits my case is the Phanteks TC12DX. Would it be enough for moderate overclocking? What about OC up to 5GHz? Or should I go with a AIO, if so, which one. Also how much OC would you recommend for a complete beginner? Please don't recommend things which aren't on the site if possible. Thanks for any help. Hi, I'm seoz, and I've had first-hand experience with this cooler, and it's disgusting how underpowered this cooler is for the £25 I paid for it. I am telling you all right now, new builder or not, to not buy the Hyper 212, and here's why. First things first, before you're able to use the cooler, you have to install it. With the Hyper 212, things are particularly different. Here's the installation method: 1. Apply thermal compound 2. Install backplate onto back of motherboard 3. Place heatsink onto CPU IHS 4. ... attempt to try and work out how on Earth to get the X-bracket aligned with both the heatsink's base and the mounting screws from the backplate image courtesy of Tom's Hardware This problematic mounting method alone points a red flag towards particularly novice and first-time builders. I myself actually spent 45 minutes to install the whole tower cooler in my first build and even had to Discord videocall a friend to help me out. The mounting's difficulty is so immense that because of this alone, I advise against the Hyper 212, even if you can secure one of these for £25. Once you manage to install it with great difficulty, next comes the cooler's actual performance, yet another reason as to why nobody should ever consider the Hyper 212 as a CPU cooler. I've used this cooler and taken it through a lot of overclock runs on Cinebench, I was thoroughly surprised when I found it only ever reached 70°C on a 5GHz overclock on my 8600K. But that's not impressive, let me talk about why. Here's a quote from myself about how the Hyper 212 performed on a 4.4GHz run, and achieving 65°C. But here's another quote from my 4.6GHz run with an Arctic Freezer 33 eSports, and this time, achieving a little under 60°C. Here is proof of that 4.6GHZ run. You cannot deny the power of the Arctic Freezer 33 eSports. You can accept the weakness of the Hyper 212. Moving on. Now here's a quote from me that mentions how a 5GHz run on an 8600K with an Arctic Freezer 33 eSports only reaches 68°C max. Let me explain why this is impressive. Here is a graph of what I see is happening between the two coolers on a 5GHz Cinebench run on my 8600K; The Hyper 212 is immediately saturated with heat and to its credit, is able to retain a 68-70°C temperature reading, while the Arctic 33 eSports is able to hold its lower temperatures for longer before eventually meeting the Hyper 212 at just under 70°C. A cooler should be holding the colder temperatures longer and be fully capable of maintaining these low temperatures, and the Hyper 212 fails here by getting filled with heat the minute the Cinebench run begins. Okay, so this section is up to personal preference, but even if you are making a silver/chrome-themed build, please still do not consider this just for the looks because the performance is just downright embarrassing. This is the ugliest cooler I have ever seen on the market. I feel as if Cooler Master slapped some materials together and called it a day, this is a disgrace of an air cooler design. But again, this is up to personal preference. As a result of advising against the Hyper 212, I offer the alternative of the Arctic Freezer 33 eSports One*, mine set me back £32, a mere £7 more than the digusting junk mentioned above. I cover the bulk of why I recommend the Arctic 33 eSports One inside my review, so I direct you to that article to read up on it at your own leisure. You can also consult the CPU cooler performance tier list for alternatives to the Hyper 212, where Tier 6 options are the most budget-friendly. I just want to clarify that I have nothing against Cooler Master as a company, but this particular 2011 model Hyper 212 is a disgrace of the budget air cooler market and should never be considered when there are a nation of other options to go for, and for nearly identical if not cheaper prices for better performance. The sheer lack of quality and shame that's gone into this cooler is ultimately the biggest disappointment, it's a cooler that looks like it would sell for no more than £10 when you consider the fins are sheets of metal, there's four exposed copper heatpipes, a plastic 120mm glossy fan, and a metal brick at the bottom... Overall, Cooler Master, I'm disappointed in you. This product should not have the popularity it has in this era of computing. It cannot compete with any other budget cooler. It looks like hot garbage, it performs like hot garbage, and it is hot garbage. End of story.

I recently completed my first build. https://in.pcpartpicker.com/list/6mFrYT . under normal circumstances, this is really really nice. But when i start gaming(guild wars 2), with my xfr enabled, my temperatures average around 80 with occasional peaks to 90 C. The max temp was around 93 C. the temps when i do normal browsing range from 55 - 70. if i disable my xfr, my temps when gaming stay around 71 C. But i picked 2600x specifically because i don't want to overclock myself( since i don't have the technical knowledge) and get speeds more than 4 Ghz. screenshots of my msi burner logs while playing gw2: https://imgur.com/a/i3FcTJ5 I already tried remounting and new thermal paste, so that's not the problem. I only have one case fan as inlet on the front. my gpu temps average around 68. Are those temps normal? If not, how do i reduce them? thanks in advance for the help. since, gw2 is a cpu intensive game, i will post logs from watch dogs if it's helpful. Note: I attached logs of msi afterburner while playing gw2. 1:19 is the one with xfr. 1:52 is the one with xfr disabled. noxfr_unlfps.hml

Most of the companies don't ship to my country so I have to buy from chinese companies. I have shortlisted two cpu coolers https://www.gearbest.com/cpu-cooler/pp_009813217505.htm... and https://www.gearbest.com/cpu-cooler/pp_009204433448.htm....
