  1. Hey Guys! I want to know how can i record my gaming videos on MSI Afterburner in 60fps while keeping it`s size small and maintaining quality.
  2. Hey. I've had the MSI GeForce GTX 1060 ARMOR - 3GB for a while now, and after doing some configurations on the fans while running some benchmarks i noticed that the zero frozr technology doesnt apply to this card. I cannot go below 49% fanspeed in afterburner and that goes for setting the up a fancurve aswell. I get around 40c with the fans at 49% but when i think about it, it is pretty loud actually. Anyone with a possible answer to this?
  3. Hi, i uninstalled my RTSS and tried to reinstall it and it gives me this error that RTSS is still active? My afterburner is turned off, all of the monitoring is disabled, RTSS removed, how is it still active? My guess is to delete the temporary files but i cannot identify which folder belongs to RTSS? I use Nvidea GTX 1070 (if it matters)
  4. I have seen a lot of posts saying pascal was 1.094v but not much on Turing. I also saw somebody say on here nvida is on the record saying anything under 1.064v I haven’t been able to confirm that. I also saw Nvidia say on a game or nexus interview turning the voltage slider up to 100% could reduce lifespan to one year but I hope that’s just them covering their butt. Some of you may recognize me from my other posts but a quick recap: I have an aorus 2070 super. I didn’t have the luck I had hoped manually overclocking with offsets, I can get +25 core at 2010mhz and +800memory before I start to get errors on OCCT 3D test. I found better results using the voltage frequency curve. My card runs mostly 1.050 stock and there I can turn it to 2070mhz and +800memory and not really worry sense that is what it does normally. However I can get up to 2100mhz at about 1.068v , and Maybe more but I stop there until I found out what safe long-term voltage is. I understand this varies card to card and model to model but I was looking for a general safe consensus. I also don’t get errors in OCCT when I use the curve this way , not really sure why but I think it has to do with I hit power limits instantly in that test which drops the voltage no matter what down to around 900 making higher clocks unstable. I guess when I only changed one point on the voltage frequency curve if I can’t do that it just goes back to what it normally does, but I’m no expert maybe you’ll know ? It may be worth mentioning to that one of the selling points if this car was “ Built for Extreme Overclocking 12+2 Power Phases” As opposed to nvidia 8+2. What is this really has any effect on lifespan at high voltage is I don’t know. Thank you for any help in advance !
  5. Hi , idk what happened but mem clock and gpu clock is high and temperatures are 40-50 even if i am doing nothing , is it a problem of msi afterburner or ?? please help fix it.
  6. Need help. I have an RX 570 (Powercolor Red dragon), bought it brand new. It's paired with an AMD Ryzen 2200G. I like to OC it a bit but the thing is i have a low end MOBO (Gigabyte A320m S2h-V2). Is it safe or do-able or should i steer away from OCing? Thanks in advance.
  7. I noticed that my GPU is getting really loud (jet engine loud) while I play demanding games, so I wanted to adjust the fan curves to bring the noise levels down a bit. Using MSI Afterburner I set the following settings and called it a day since I noticed that fans are quieter even with just browsing the web, however when I start an AAA game i.e Apex Legends and the GPU temps hit around 75 ° C my custom fan curve is being overwritten and fans go apeshit just like before (3200-3400 RPM) which is basically 100% fan speed. What is weird in this situation is that Afterburner Hardware monitor is showing different things when it comes to FAN SPEED and RPM, Fan speed according to AHM is around 50% (which is what it should be according to my custom fan curve BUT the RPM goes to 3400 which actually is 100% fan speed. I'm running: -Asus ROG Strix RTX 2080 ti 011g gaming -Latest Nvidia drivers version 451.67 What I tried already: Having "Auto" in the Afterburner on and off, same results with RPM going to 3400 Saving profiles in the Afterburner and Applying it Turning everything off, reinstalling drivers and afterburner, rebooting PC multiple times Using different software than Afterburner like GPU TwaekII from ASUS (exactly same results) Since the fan curves work until I start playing a demanding game I guess there must be something that has priority and is changing the RPM of the fans when a GPU hits a certain temperature regardless of what my settings in Afterburner are so I tried looking for any software that could be responsible but there is nothing I can find. Any ideas on what can I do here?
  8. So I have a Palit GTX 1660 Super GamingPro OC and undervolted it, after lots of time testing and checking for stability I managed to find a stable undervolt, keeping the same level of performance and achieving my goal of reducing temps so that I can also reduce fan noise. So, MSI afterburner keeps changing the entire curve after restart or cold boot(I've already turned on start on windows and apply on windows startup), I've read this is due to GPU boost that it is gonna boost higher when it is given headroom and goes down when it reaches a temp limit. I already have an factory OC'ed card so essentially what I've done is down clocked the card(still overclocked though but I want to reduce or limit it's "over clock") and undervolt it. After testing multiple times for 3 days, I got to a stable 1920Mhz at 875mV for about 7 hours gameplay but most of the time its afk, but I know this won't reflect actual game play so in those 7 hours, I have about 4 hours of afk and 3 hours of playing at a certain point in the game where I know my gpu has to actually "work hard". At this point, I found my stable voltage and frequency. Thanks to GPU boost, like I said, it changes the curve so I tried to work my way around it by applying to a lower frequency at the same voltage since I know that it's going to change up after a restart/boot so that when it changes, it changes to the frequency and voltage that I want. The problem is, the "apply on windows start up" applies the last applied profile on MSI AB, say I applied profile X, then after a restart, it changes again automatically so that would now be X' and X' would now be the "last profile applied" then after another restart or cold boot, now its profile X" and so on. So, after this long post, my question is, is there a way to set AB to just keep applying profile X instead of using the logic of last profile applied? Since my desired undervolt and frequency wont be consistent as it keeps changing after every boot.
  9. I had water damage on my keyboard took very good precautions(and the computer ran half an year while playing a lot of games without any problem, than keyboard) and took it to MSI service center. They changed the keyboard and the keyboard is working just well. BUT after I got my computer back the GPU has been acting very weird! I was playing games between the time when it got water damaged and fixed, so this came from the repair. Computer: MSI GE72 6QF APACHE PRO NOTE: I played on this computer PUBG and BF1 over half an year without issue (on external keyboard), and everything was working just fine, I even had it overclocked! No way it is due to "Corrosion build up". As there is no humidity! Pictures of Afterburner (no load) (At start had valley benchmark on, before acting weird): https://gyazo.com/e254ba3a1dc83240aca0772607f7228f Pictures of afterburner (with load): https://gyazo.com/9fdc4fd198c58b208a17b967c9883346 I have tried HWINFO64, AIDA64, GPU-Z, EVGA Percision, but ALL of them show the exactly same things. (actually EVGA said it doesn't recognize it) I have also tried to reinstall windows,DDU and reinstall both of GPU's,Power settings.
  10. Hey Guys, noob here lol I have an issue, I manage a couple of GPUs for a Mining Company. Mainly 1070, 1070TI, 1080 and 1080 TIs. I keep having this issue with the 1080 TI cards, they keep getting too hot. Ideally, I would like to keep them under 80C to promote longevity. I use MSI afterburner to overclock them. I would like to keep the temp between 75C-77C, and it usually works with all the other cards. The Temperatur toggle does work for about 40% of my 1080TIs but not for the other 60%. Does anyone know anything about this issue?
  11. Hi friends, sorry for bad english. i'm experiencing a nasty problem with my 1080 Aorus, for those who don't know it has rgb lighting and it is controlled only via the Gigabyte's proprietary software "Aorus Engine" which controls the overclock too. So the problem is that i use Msi Afterburner to have an OSD while playing and seems like it is interfering with the Gigabyte's program, i cannot set the overclock because if i leave the Afterburner settings on default it will "Lock" the voltage limit of the card to stock even if on the Aorus engine is all the way up to 150% (I found a stable OC +125 core +400mem) while if i overclock only via Afterburner everytime i restart the setting are not applied because the other program loads a bit after the msi so it overrides the settings (yeah i could set manually everytime i log in but i think there is a smarter way) Seems like afterburner is controlling the Voltage and power settings while Aorus the frequencies, this creates stutter and frametime spikes in games such as Rust PUBG FFXV etc. The funny part is that i cannot uninstall the card software otherwise the led would go white, at the same time i wan't to monitor the system via MSI's OSD because i love that program, is there any way i can get the rgb controls without the app? Thank you
  12. So this is the first time this has happened to me. If it's a common thing then I'm sorry. I opened a free game called Osu! after a week of not playing it and I got a detection problem/glitch which is annoying and distracting. At first I thought it was just glitching out but then I saw it's switching between OGL and DX10. The interesting thing is that it only happens when I record with OBS. Since I want to record it it's annoying but I have no idea what to do to stop it other that turning the overlay off(which I kinda dont want to). If anyone has any idea that would be very helpful. I'll attach a video to show it. The overlay is in the left corner. vlc-record-2018-09-24-00h43m30s-2018-09-24 00-13-01.mp4-.mp4
  13. MSI AFTERBURNER STUTTERING! Hello everyone, I'm having a stupid issue that's really getting on my nerves. Whenever I have MSI Afterburner open and running, it CONSTANTLY 'applies profile' 1 which is a saved profile that I only have for my temp and power limit (No not for mining, just taking care of my hardware). When I play games, I have Afterburner opened on my other monitor and I see the "Profile 1 applied" sign pop up every 2 seconds and it stutters my game. Doesn't stutter my desktop though , possibly something to do with fullscreen of my game? idk. Anyways, don't know if anyone else has experienced this, though I genuinely couldn't figure it out, tried reinstalling and to no avail. Even got rid of my profile to no avail. Help please!
  14. I have a couple questions about drivers and software with my MSI R9 390 8G: 1. When I used the driver version before 18.2.3, every time I played a game, after about 30 mins, my computer would freeze. When I restart, it says that the Radeon Wattman settings failed, but I have no idea what that is. What should I do? I went to the Windows 10 driver settings and clicked rollback driver. That has been working for me until the last update of Rainbow 6 Siege. It says that I need the latest driver for optimal settings and then just crashes. 2. What is MSI Live Update? 3. How do I overclock my GPU safely using MSI Afterburner? 4. What is MSI Gaming APP? Thanks!
  15. MSI afterburner overlay just showing temperature any help?
  16. I have no idea why but on one of my computers which happens to have a 970 in it I wanted to do some mining just for fun as well as on my main pc. I cannot change the memory clock on the 970 GPU it just resets back to default. I reinstalled drivers and did restarts but it just won't let me. Anyone had this issue and know how to fix it?
  17. Hi! I've been looking everywhere for a solution but I don't think there's any... and I'm not surprised. This is such a weird problem. I have voltage control and voltage monitoring unlocked and I'm using a GTX 980 Ti Strix. My CPU and Ram are overclocked if that even affects anything. Also, why does Afterburner report a different core clock than Unigine Heaven?
  18. I was wondering if it is safe to turn core voltage to 100% on msi afterburner if you are overclocking a 1070 ti, right now my overclock is 215+ core clock, 480+ memory clock and 15% core voltage and the gpu is stable. If it is safe to turn it up will i be able to increase core and memory clock up and have it be stable, also what is the negatives of having it at 100% core voltage?
  19. Intro As I see this question a lot, and the general way of solving the problem is time consuming, a lot of members flat out ignore these types of questions. Much to the, no doubt, dismay of the victims of said micro stutter. I'm going to make this thread for myself to put in my signature, but feel free to paste it whenever is having these particular issues. Also feel free to ignore this in "newly posted" if it doesn't apply to you. Terminology. Lets set something straight first, and that is the terminology used. A lot of people misconstrue "lag", "stutter" and "microstutter". Lag, or latency, is a terminology usually reserved (in IT) for network related issues. Which i'm not going to delve into in this topic. I will only refer to "input latency", so if this is what you mean with "lag", as in the perceived delay of input to output, refer to it as such. I will refer to "stutter" as engine halts or noticeable frametime spikes in afterburner (more on that later), and microstutter as mostly undetectable frametime/framepacing inconsistency usually only picked up by FCAT. Something like a hardcoded double-buffer v-sync that outputs 16,67ms - 33,33ms - 16,67ms - 33,33ms frametimes like the new Deus Ex. You will see a stable 60fps, but the visual appears jittery. How do GPU's output frames. This is important to understand when you're experiencing stutter or microstutter. Most of the times it's vsync related. Without delving into much detail on the specific details of v-sync, here is the gist of it. Going from the perspective of a static refresh rate panel at 60hz. If you want a really in-depth explanation, I suggest reading this excellent article from Anandtech: https://www.anandtech.com/show/2794 The short version is that the GPU exports drawn frames onto the framebuffer (a portion of the VRAM) that is currently designated to output to the screen. The monitor 'scans' images at 60hz, meaning every 16.67 milliseconds, it scans a new frame from the GPU buffer. This all works well assuming the GPU can output a new frame within 16.67ms. When the GPU however cannot maintain 60fps and starts outputting some frames later than this window, in traditional V-sync operation the framebuffer will not swap and the previous frame that was drawn will remain in the front buffer. What this means is that the monitor will scan the same image again, and as a result you will be displayed the same image twice (or even three times assuming how long the GPU takes to render the new frame). This visually appears as a microstutter or stutter to the player, because it's image is frozen for 33.33ms or even 50ms. As you can see, frame 1 and 3 are drawn within the window, but frame 2 is drawn outside the windows. The monitor will scan the image twice creating a stutter. As v-sync is mostly turned on by default, most players who experience stuttering are most likely just experiencing double scans. The way to solve this is two fold. Either turn off v-sync or invest into adaptive refreshrate monitors. Turning off v-sync will get rid of the stuttering but it will leave you with so-called tears across the screen. Due to the GPU no longer synchronizing the output with the scantimes of the monitor, it will swap the front and back buffer whenever the frame is completed, regardless of whether the monitor was currently scanning an image. Resulting in the displayed image on the screen consisting or 2 or more frames. Note that by disabling v-sync the screen will not appear more fluent, as the scantimes and framedraws are unsynchronized. It should, however, remove the double scans and result in less severe stuttering. Some other solutions exist, but those are constantly in flux/development, and if you've established it's a synchronization issue the topic can be dealt with swiftly and specifically (as the solution depends on the application, adaptive/fast sync, etc). If this didn't solve the issue, something else is wrong and the members are going to require information to determine the problem. How to fix this? You can disable v-sync by using the ingame options, and you can also force the v-sync on/off by going to your Graphics Manuf. control panel under the 3D Graphics settings. Try using the graphics card provided options instead. What usually works well is adaptive v-sync for Nvidia (or Enhanced Sync for AMD), or when the game is really high framerate, something like "Fast Sync". Make sure the game is set to "fullscreen" though, they won't work at windowed or borderless modes. Online games disclaimer. Also make sure when determining where the problem lies, that you also test out offline games. In online games your dodgy internet could be causing (actual) lag that can be misinterpreted as stutters. Collecting the information. First start by collecting your system information if you have not done so already. You can do this by pressing Start and typing in DXDIAG.exe. It will collect your system information which you can store like this: Now open the .txt file, press CTRL-A and CTRL-C, and paste it in the thread. When pasting this information into the thread, make sure you put [ spoiler] [ /spoiler] around it (without the spaces), or when having it selected press the "spoiler" button (eye icon) on the draft. As it will quickly flood the page. As system halts or game engine halts can be caused by a plethora of reasons, a selection of data is required to determine which. For this example i'm going to be using MSI Afterburner, downloadable here: http://download.msi.com/uti_exe//vga/MSIAfterburnerSetup.zip Install both Afterburner and the Rivatuner Statistics Server from the executable and launch MSI Afterburner. It should launch like this: Press the highlighted cog and lets set a few options. I think the new skin is very convoluted so I'm going to be first making it intelligible by going to "user interface" and selecting this option. To go back to the settings on the new skin, the cog has been replaced by a button "settings" in the bottom-right. Go to the monitoring tab and set "hardware polling period" to 100ms. And in active graphs click on the little checkmark in front of: GPU Usage Core Clock Power Memory Clock Memory Usage Framerate Frametime CPU Temperature (not CPU1, CPU2 etc) CPU1 t/m CPUn Usage (meaning all numbers of threads you have, don't select CPU Usage without a number) CPU clock speed RAM Usage Pagefile Usage De-select anything besides those listed. And press "OK" to leave the settings. For AMD Graphics card users: In the "Genaral" Tab, in the bottom select the feature "Enable Unified GPU Usage Monitoring"!! Now you can monitor these real-time in the game by also pressing "show in OSD", but i'm making this topic for the layperson, and i'm going to make this topic so that I can check on the data myself instead of relying on a third party to relay the information to me. Storing the information and posting it. Now that you have the proper nodes graphing at sufficient pollingrate, now you need to collect the data on the game you're having issues with. Make sure that you have already established V-sync isn't the issue and that any form of v-sync is disabled. Either via the game, control panel (or both). You can log the data by rightclicking on the graph of MSI Afterburner like so: Then before you start the game, hit "clear history" and then click "log history to file". It is now logging to a file. Start the game, start playing for a few minutes and make sure the issue occurs a few times preferably and close or alt-tab out of the game. Rightclick the graph again and deselect "log history to file" by clicking on it again. Now go to your MSI Afterburner root folder (by default: C:\Program Files (x86)\MSI Afterburner) where you installed it and it should contain a file called "HardwareMonitoring.hml". Just like with the DXDIAG put this file into the attachments of your post. Now people can view your issue in detail by opening up this file, which should dramatically speed up the process of finding the issues. If you open it yourself it should look something like this (make sure to press the datapit at the top). Thanks for reading. Additional information could be added in time.
  20. I have a machine running in a closed case with (currently) 5 GTX 970's installed. (Once I get temps under control I plan on putting in my other 3) Im mining Equihash and am running into thermal throttling. I have 5x 120mm intake fans and 2x 80mm exhaust fans. The GPU fans are running at 100% as well. A lot of the tutorials online say to unlock voltage control, and then hit CTRL + F. When I do this nothing happens. I am able to adjust voltage in the main page, but I cannot decrement it. Theoretically an alternative would be to overclock the cards, and leave voltage alone, then decrease the throttling threshold. Then at a given voltage it drops down to due to throttling, its running closer to stock frequency. But that is assuming that the temperature limit is manipulating voltage first, not frequency. Any tips? Should I switch to Sapphire Trixx?
  21. Hi all, I'm pretty sure right now that Afterburner conflicts with Wattman, since when I only use Wattman (I'm undervolting my RX 580) the settings tend to stay the same, while using both wattman tends to behave strangely, like resetting power states to stock levels except for P7 and not applying correctly new values. Is there a way to use use a more complete OSD than the one included with AMD settings, without creating conflicts with wattman? I mostly care about monitoring fps, power and clocks. HWInfo, for example, doesn't include a fps counter AFAIK. Maybe some settings on Afterburner can solve my issue? Thank you
  22. I don't know what's wrong with my PC, but before I game I have to downclock my GPU using MSI Afterburner. If I don't, my PC restarts. I'm using an Asus RX470 with 8GB of ram and 2TB storage. My power supply is also a be quiet! 450W and my CPU is an i5 3470. The problem does not occur if I play at the lowest possible settings on the factory settings or if the game is not graphically intensive. I tried to figure out the problem by running FurMark with all options enabled, and the Pc did not restart. I can't think of any other thing to do. Thanks.
  23. I got a Fury X new about 18 months ago and only just recently decided to mess around with overclocking it. I'm somewhat of an amateur at overclocking graphics as I only ever messed around with it once before on my old 7970. I am overclocking using Afterburner. For some reason I can change all of the settings on the card including memory but when I hit the apply button it just defaults back to 500MHz. This does not happen for any of the other settings all of which I can change and they will apply successfully. I am on Radeon software version 17.11.2 and Afterburner version 4.4.0. I also just updated the bios on my card to the latest official bios which didn't solve the problem. Also I know that the fury x is not meant to be a wonderful overclocker but I am having trouble getting it to run at even 1160Mhz core clock. Any information from somebody who is familiar with fury x overclocking is appreciated as I'm not able to find much information as to what voltage is safe to run or why afterburner cannot overclock my memory.
  24. I just installed MSI After Burner but when i try to execute it i receive error. "The application has failed to start beacuse its side-by-side configuration is incorrect." Any ideas??
  25. Hi, I recently started mining on nicehash with an R7 370 just to see what the hype from almost a year ago was about. Because the earnings weren't that good I decided to put in an older card so they could mine together or so I could still use the PC while mining. (hd 4450) I can still use my pc with my monitor connected to the hd 4450, but mining isn't possible because nicehash says "the card isn't functioning correctly", even when the AMD driver tool autodriver downgraded the driver. But what is weird is afterburner doesn't show temperature and clock correctly, and the R7 370 is "invisible" (see pictures) So what can I do? Sorry if this is in the wrong sub forum.
