  1. Budget (including currency): 2500 Euro Country: Sweden Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Clip studio paint, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects Other details: Cintiq, dual 1440p monitors I was wondering if there's some kind of tool where you could weigh hardware against each other using benchmarks for certain software? I am starting to research CPU and GPU for a build and if there already exists a good tool for comparison it feels a little silly to google for hours.
  2. Budget (including currency): $5,000 USD Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Blender, After Effects, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and some gaming for fun, not too concerned with top notch FPS when gaming. Mostly want to cut through render times, and make the Blender viewport lightning fast. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): My current configuration is looking like: CPU: Ryzen 9 7950x Cooler: Arctic Liquid Freezer II 420 Motherboard: ASUS ProArt X760E CREATOR WIFI ATX GPU: ASUS TUF RTX 4090 24GB RAM: Kingston Fury 128GB (4x32GB) DDR5 5600MT/s CL36 FURY Beast Black EXPO SSD: Crucial P5 1TB PCIe Gen 4 NVMe M.2 x3 PSU: Corsair HX1200 Platinum 1200 W Case: Fractal Meshify 2 or Corsair 7000D Airflow My main concerns are around the instability of DDR5 running with AM5. I've heard people successfully running 128GB at around 3600, but the use of 2 DIMM slots at 64GB can yield up to the full 5600. For productivity tasks specifically, would programs like Blender/After Effects benefit most from the lower speed 128gb (mixed kits as well), or the full speed running 64gb? I'm okay to start with 64 and see if the BIOS updates catch up and DDR5 starts to play nice. Since the 7950x is always sprinting to the 95 C, I'm thinking the 420mm Arctic can help out keep those thermals under control. I'm also thinking the 1200w is generously on the safe side considering the power hungry CPU, GPU combo. Would also love some reference on the case, I'm attracted to the plentiful size of the 7000D, but mostly wanting the best airflow. Additionally, since this is my first ever build, feel free to throw out any general things I should be aware of / references or homework I should take a peek at. Thanks and of course all hail the LTT Screwdriver.
  3. Hi guys. First of all, I'm kind of new to this forum thing and what I'm about to ask might have been answered before, so sorry in advance if I'm asking the same question again. So I enjoy casual video editing. I'm still in the learning phase, and recently my computer performance was very slow considering my pc specs are pretty good. Specs: Ryzen 5 2600X GTX 1060 6G 16GB 3000MHz Asus TUF B450-Pro I have had 3 Hard drives, 2TB, 1TB (both 7200RPM) and the 3rd one was 700gb (5400RPM). My boot up time was really slow, my software load up time was very slow etc and finally I got enough money for an SSD, so I went for a 500GB Kingston A2000 M.2 NVMe budget SSD. I'm happy the time it takes my pc to fully turn on and become usable has gone down from 4-5 minutes to 20 seconds.. (I'm not exaggerating). So now for my question. I know putting premier pro in the SSD helps load up the software pretty fast, and so naturally I have done that. But for the Cache files and Media Files, I am using my Hard drives. both the 7200RPM drives for cache and media files respectively. Now I still hear people saying its a good idea to put the Media files in the SSD as it will help load and process the video data faster. So my question is, should I put the media files in the same SSD that I have my OS and Software in? Will that hurt the performance in anyway instead of using the Software, media and cache for premier pro in all different physical drives? Help would really be appreciated. If I missed something, please tell me, I'll be sure to provide the necessary information. Thank you
  4. Hey! I'm looking to upgrade my RAM to 32GB for After Effects, Cinema4D and Premiere work. My current setup is as follows: - AMD Ryzen 3700x - G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16GB (2x8) 3200Mhz CL14 - Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti - Gigabyte x570 Aorus Elite I'm looking at the G.Skill Trident Z Neo RGB 32GB (2x16) 3200Mhz CL16 and the HyperX Fury RGB 32GB (2x16) 3200Mhz CL16, at 198€ and 170€ respectively. I'm planning to sell my current RAM sticks for maybe something around 85€. I'm aware 3200Mhz at CL14 is ideal for this CPU but the prices skyrocket way out of my budget and I've heard CL16 is also a pretty solid choice. My question is, is there a difference between the HyperX and the G.Skill sticks considering they have the same frequencies and latency or can there be differences in performance between the two due to different brands? If so, is it noticeable at all? Does the HyperX work as well with this Ryzen as the G.Skill does? Or do you have any other recommendations? Thank you!
  5. Country: Spain (€) Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: After Effects & Cinema 4D Hey! I want to start saving up for a Video Editing PC. I'm going to want to be able to use After Effects on the heavy side and render big workloads. What components will I have to prioritize? And, roughly, what budget will I be looking at? Thanks in advance!
  6. Hi all, Trying to decide whether I should get the 3700x or 5600x with my priority use being video editing (I will be using it for gaming and streaming too but editing is Priority 1 as it's how I earn my living). A lot of sites and videos only talk about the render/encoding time differences and seemingly no one mentions what the differences are when actually using the programs with the different CPUs. The render time differences appear minimal and won't make as much difference to me compared to what it's like using PremPro or AE, like scrubbing through footage with heavy effects applied, or booting up and using After Effects with Premiere Pro running in the background (like if I replaced a clip in my PremPro timeline with an After Effects composition, something I do a lot to do things like make keyframe animations much better). If it helps, my other components for the PC are as follows: GPU - EVGA RTX 2060 XC CASE - NZXT H510 RAM - 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX Black DDR4 - 3600 MHz - 2x16GB PSU - EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G5 SSD - Samsung 980 PRO 500GB PCIe 4.0 M.2 HDD - Seagate BarraCuda 4 TB Motherboard - ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING (WI-FI) I appreciate any help with this. Cheers!
  7. Budget (including currency): 450 Euro to 650 Euro Country: EU Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro Other details: My current PC: CPU: Intel i7 3770K Motherboard: Gigabyte Technology Z68AP-D3 Ram: 16gb mhz Graphic: Geforce gtx 660 2gb Resolution: 2560 x 1080 Hi, I plan to upgrade my PC - new motherboard, RAM and CPU. I will use my PC mostly for work / rendering in Adobe After Effects. Basing on Gamers Nexus video [https://youtu.be/y7ukz8WUdW4?t=438] I gathered all processors I would be most interested in one place: https://i.imgur.com/FjxbLWD.png I though Ryzen 9 3900X would be the best choice for me because of the number of cores/threads/cache - but scored less points than other ones with less cores/threads. I found also article from 2019 where Ryzen 9 3900X scored just a bit more points then cheaper AMD Ryzen 7 3700. https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/After-Effects-CPU-Roundup-AMD-Ryzen-3rd-Gen-AMD-Threadripper-2-Intel-9th-Gen-Intel-X-series-1533/ As for the motherboard - I am looking for something with the B550 chipset RAM 32 GB 3600 mhz for better performance. What would you recomend? Thx for your help! Rejken
  8. Budget (including currency): $2000 (but I don't mind going a tad over) Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, OBS, Skype Other details To be frank with you all, I know nothing about PCs. I've spent nearly a decade on Macbook Pros but never considered investing in a PC until I started using more heavy duty applications. I'm starting from scratch. I need a PC plus a monitor and I don't know where to start. I really just need to be able to have multiple programs open at once (ie. OBS and Skype) and not encounter difficulties with streaming like encoding overloads. I also need a lot of space. I plan to edit rather high quality video and possibly 4k in the future. I think I've settled on a CPU (AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 3.9 GHz 8-Core Processor) but that's about it. I definitely want to have some kind of color aesthetic and I'm looking for purple/pink. Someone of reddit created a build for me but I don't know if it's any good (and it's a little too expensive for me). Thank you guys in advance
  9. I use Premiere Pro and After Effects for video editing. I built a separate server to handle rendering to not bog down my editing rig. I set it up using media encoder. However, many of my projects utilize dynamic link between premiere and after effects. This gets missed when I have this machine render it. Any ideas on how to resolve this?
  10. Budget (including currency): Max $2500, $2000 target. Country: United States of America (California) Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: After effects, various 3D modeling, mid-heavy gaming such as Risk of Rain 2, Grounded, Elden Ring, and Ghostwire Tokyo. A friend of mine is looking to upgrade from a garbage tire laptop to a desktop for gaming and 3D modeling/after effects work for school. I've never done a build focused outside of gaming workloads and my knowledge is rusty as hell so I'd appreciate some help. He needs to wirelessly connect to the internet, he's working with a somewhat constrained space, see attached photo, and is looking for a larger 1440p 120Hz display with decent color accuracy. Personally I believe with such space constraints a micro-ATX or mini-ITX build with the Wi-Fi built into the motherboard is the best bet here. Last time I paid attention a build like this would have used a high core count Ryzen chip with high capacity fast RAM but I'm unsure if hardware has changed much over the years and I do not know how to look for a monitor with good color accuracy. If PC parts need to have a larger budget allocated to them, such as the GPU, my friend is ok with a 1080p display. Given the market used GPU's are acceptable as well. Edit: Anyone got a good keyboard recommendation as well? I'm rocking a model M and a Razer Death Adder Elite and I'm certain this is not a good combo to recommend to anyone for gaming lol. He wants something RGB if possible and I personally trust Razer but I'm open to all recommendations.
  11. Built my first PC this year so please be patient with my beginner knowledge! (Let me know if more specs are needed) Basically got the PC working, got adobe installed, and im not sure why im still getting sub par playback performance / rendering. Cinebench is 9006, yet it still seems to struggle with relatively simple projects. Opened up task manager to see if I could find an issue and turns out im only using 30% - 50% CPU while running AE / rendering in AME. Really not sure what my next steps should be. Pretty sure my drivers are up to date, my AE RAM usage is maxed, and I have 400gb on my NVME drive for storage that I purge frequently. Any idea why im only getting 30% - 50% cpu usage? GPU also varies around 10% as well using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (CUDA), is that normal as I know AE is not necessarily made for GPU rendering. 12. Hey guys can anyone recommend a good monitor for my new Pc. I usually create motion graphic templates in A.E and I will also be doing a good bit of gaming. I have a RTX 2070 Super if that helps . I currently have an Acer R271 which has been okay but since I'm going 4K Id like at least a 32" inch monitor. My budget is around £800 but I could stretch it a little. Thanks for any recommendations. I have done a lot of searching but I thought I'd ask possibly some one might recommend one that I maybe haven't come across... Some features that i was looking for in the monitor; Wide Color Gamut: atleast 95 - 100% in either SRGB or DCI-P3?? HDR Freesync or G-Sync Nothing higher than 5ms response time IPS Panel Id like to get a monitor that would take advantage of the features of my gpu
  13. Budget (including currency): 1800dollar (around 140000 INR) Country: India Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly After Effects and Video Editing Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hey, So I am a motion designer based in India and need help for the upcoming PC build. I do had taken few reference from Puget systems. Based on that I do had developed a system have a look. How I really use the PC? I do have heavy work on motion graphics done on after effects and lots of its scripts and extensions. There is no 3D element been imported from cinema 4D but use 3d camera and so. There are tons of shape layers. I dont do any vfx things. I do care scrubbing and caching should be fast. Then Premiere. I dont even put a single effect. Even a simple scale animation is done in After Effects. I think best way I would describe my Premiere use is to assemble the different animation into a complete video. Then comes audition which is used for changing a lot in sounds. Also I do open both after effects and premiere at the same time. And also quite many chrome tabs (sometimes chrome eats more ram then those software LOL.) And I dont care for gaming and neither too much fancy lighting except the front of the case Cabinet : Corsair 465x RGB (Moslty due to availabelity of installing 7 fan and look. Also I already using Icue for keyboard it helps in lighting effects easily) Processor : AMD ryzen 7 3700x. Puget System told processor with high clock speed is important. Q1. Should I get 3800x? I check review and comparison I feel that its like 6-8% boost. Q2. Should I overclock whatever the CPU I purchased? I dont know anything much on overclocking and havent done in past. Motherboard : MSI X570-A PRO (Cheapest 570 motherboard I find. I dont need any fancy gaming feature and neither wifi also need many USB ports for my different pheripherals) Graphics Card : Geforce GTX 1660 OC 6gb (Puget System told graphics card wont significantly Improve the performance also raytracing wont help after effects so I dont feel to invest in that area). Q3. I also use premiere for editing. But even my slight animation is done on After effects. And just use premiere to assemble the video and dont apply any effects. Is this graphics card is fine? SMPS : Cooler Master Bronze semi modular 750w Storage : Storage 1 : 500 gb 860evo 2.5 (OS and software) Storage 2 : 500 gb 860evo 2.5 (media and scratch) Storage 1 : 250 gb 860evo 2.5 (seperate scratch OPTIONAL or later upgrade) I dont need hard drive as I already own it. This idea is still came from puget system. Q4. Should I go with NVMe for scratch? Q5. Should I have seperate scratch drive? Q6. I thought to get 1 tb of 860evo as its just a little costlier than 500gb and use that as OS, software and media drive? Ram: Corsair 64gb ddr4 3000mhzvengeance (again puget recommed 64gb) Liquid Cooler : Corsair H100i Pro Rgb Q7. Is this is enough to cool even if I learned about overclocking and do it in future? Q8. Please tell me should I need amp or not? I do use lot of music in the tracks. Dont produce my own its from music subscription service. But do need to change a lot in effects. Q9. Do I need the thermal paste for liquid cooler? Q10. Should I go with Cooler Master Master Air MA621P TR4 Edition instead of liquid cooler? Please mention the changes, tips and guide and help in whatever way possible. Thanks
  14. Hey y'all, Quick question I hope someone can answer for me. My girlfriend is making one last upgrade to her GPU in her workstation PC before we build her a new one. She needs something thats good for Premiere Pro and After Effects. I was looking at the Radeon Pro cards (W5500 probably) while she's looking at GTX 1660 Ti or possibly an RTX 2060 (budget is around $300-400). TBH when it comes to workstation GPUs I'm kinda lost, plus her CPU is a 4th gen i7-4820k so I was hoping someone could help us figure out if there'd be any bottlenecking with a newer/faster GPU. She currently has a GTX 1060 in the system. Thanks in advance.
  15. Does anyone have ANY clue what this guy is using to make his videos this smooth? I've tried my damndest to get my videos to look like this and cannot for the life of me. I record at 60 fps and render out to 60 fps but cannot achieve anything similar. I FEEL or think it is motion blur but I'm really not sure. I record and render/upload at 60FPS 1440p but if you watch the video it is almost like it has motion blur added too it. I've tried a ton of things and can't get anything close. I normally record on OBS with CQP at 15 and edit in After Effects and then render it out with a bitrate of 50 CBR through media encoder. I know this probably isn't the best place to ask but honestly I'm going to lose my mind if I don't ask others for help. x.x Here is the video in question I would contact him but he's currently in the Korean military until near the end of the year. So far I've tried the base motion blur option in AE, CC Force Motion Blur in AE, smart resample in Vegas, recording at a higher frame rate (120 to 240 fps to match my monitors refresh rate as I read this would make it replicate this "smoothness") and then trying both those options again, RSMB, Twixtor and I just cannot find how this video looks THIS smooth. If he used RSMB or Twixtor there would be warping but as far as I can see there isn't any at all. Any help or nudge in the right direction is greatly appreciated!
  16. This is my 2nd day doing research about what specs will really help my work in after effects. I find it much more confusing when I encounter new terminologies from intel and amd. My usual work in After effects is making explainer videos and create some 3d photo/video slide template. This is my current specs.i7-4790gtx97016gb ramssd - 2xIn terms of processor what will be the best in year 2017? because we have the new Ryzen 1800x compared to i7-6900k which is $1000 twice the price of Ryzen. I can afford a $400-$590 processor but I need a bang for buck because I live in Philippines computer parts are much more expensive here. Also the i7-6850k is just around $570. Im not sure weather Ryzen will be compatible with AE or they are in harmony in terms of computing, something I read in some comments that AMD lacks PCIe lanes etc. that made me doubt again for the Ryzen 1800x.For the graphics cards I have these questions. Can I use AMD video cards(more affordable)? I dont use raytrace 3d but I use the regular 3d like the camera tool. or should I just go with gxt 1070? will I benefit if I go to gtx1080? I also saw some words in the nvidia website that they will be making a comeback support to raytrace 3d on their pascal gpu in 2017. when I use the camera tool in After effects im using OpenGL right? notcuda cores(for raytrace 3d only)? I really prefer faster previews and ram rendering for previews. The sure thing is I will be having 32gb or 64gb of ram for my next build.Thank you so much for the help
  17. hi guys just wondering if anyone knows if adobe premiere pro and after effects support using more then one computer to renter a project out. if not does anyone know a program that does support using premiere projects and network rendering over many computers at once? want to avoid using final cut so anything you could offer would be nice. have about 30 imacs with the full adobe cc install with the latest mac updates thanks guys.
  18. So I have my machine setup and I'm looking at reinstalling Windows and was wondering what peoples thoughts were on hard drive configurations... I'd have been gaming a decent amount recently and would like to increase my performance there as well as in after effects although that's not a big issue as I don't do a lot with that anymore. I currently have 4 x SSD's in a RAID 10 setup (Used as my primary drive) and than 1 x SSD (for a scratch drive) I also have a 2TB drive setup for storage. I'm wondering if I should use another drive as my primary and set the 4 SSD's up as a seperate drive from Windows to install my games onto. Just looking for some opinions on the matter. Any input would be appreciated. I didn't put my other specs on here because I didn't think it would matter but I can list those as well if someone would like to know. Thanks! Ryan
  19. 1. Like lower thirds are there different objects of a video so one being lower thirds, another being titles/intros if so what are they called? 2. After Effects vs Premiere Pro i still don't understand what does what if someone can simplify it that would be nice?
  20. Recently bought a new system, i7 7700k under a Silverstone tundra TDO2, 16gb ram, MSI Carbon ac mITX mobo, Be Quiet! Pure Power 9 600W CM Power Supplyand a Gigabyte Geforce 1070 G1 gaming . Since building it the PC will soft crash to desktop whilst gaming, but Premiere and After effects was working. I did a clean install of windows and the crashing persisted, Tried DDU to change the drivers again, system still persisted to crash in games. This was odd as performance is as expected and there is no heating issue with the PC either and no overclocking of GPU or CPU. Clean installed windows for a third time, and discovered the TDR Delay fix, which seemed to have stopped the. I kept with this setup for a while until I reinstalled after effects and Premiere and Lightroom. Lightroom has no issues with teh build, but both Premiere and After effects cannot get past the launch splash screen without giving a GPU manager error with varying error codes. With this issue i suspected again drivers to be the issue so updated the adobe products and reinstalled graphics drivers with DDU once more. Still no fix to the crashes, whilst also removing my TDR delay fixes from the registry. My question is, where should I go from here? Try another clean install? Try another video card? RMA the video Card? Any help would be great, been dealing with this for 3 weeks now on and off and its getting very draining... Cheers:)
  21. I have AE CS6 and i downloaded template from 2017, but the problem is i cannot open it here is the problem: Can i do anything or i need to delete my AE and download the requested versions
  22. I am trying to decide which graphics card is better for 4k video editing in Adobe Premiere and some After Effects. More specifically I will be making music videos with multiple effects including chroma keying. I am in the process of getting all the parts together to build a computer purely for video editing is it worth getting the 980ti (ASUS ROG MATRIX) or a 1070 (not sure which model) as both are around the same price on ebay in the UK . Alternatively would it be worth it just to get a 1060 or RX480 for less? My goal is to edit 4k in full quality in real time using one 1080p monitor and one 2160p monitor for the preview video. I know the 980ti has more cuda cores and possibly a higher IPC? The parts I have so far are: Ryzen 1700 (I plan on overclocking it with the cooler it came with) ASUS Prime B350M-A AMD ATX Motherboard Adata XPG 32gb 2 x 16 DDR4 ram 2800Mhz PC4-22400 memory I have yet to get the rest of the components, I will get a power supply depending on the graphics card and I plan on getting a silent case and SSDs. Any advice will be greatly appreciated, I don't play video games and I am using it purely for video editing.
  23. Hi all, So I am planning to upgrade my current iMac (Yes I know shut up) this year for a good Rendering, Exporting, Machine. My primary focus is being cost effective as possible so $1,500 Cad would be the maximum (not incl tax). As I often work with AE, PR, and AVID (Avid Media Composer) this computer would simply spit out stuff. Please note that AVID does note use the GPU for what ever reason that is when exporting out of it. I will still use my current iMac to compliment the system as a ingest and cutting station, I want to put the primary workload on this new machine. I would like some advice on the build that I have set and would love to see some suggestions that match my target, also a name would be nice for the machine too just to add some fun. As a side note I will be happy to consider anything higher than $1,500 up to $2,500. Cheers all. YT Bob the Assistant Editor Machine. 24. So a long time ago I tried to enable my gpu(gtx 970) to render in after effects and saw almost no difference between "cpu(i7 5820k)" and "cpu(i7 5820k) + gpu(gtx 970)" also no difference between "cpu(i7 5820k) (multiprocessing)" and "cpu(i7 5820k) (multiprocessing) + gpu(gtx 970)" I searched some video's and came at this video called "Premiere Pro CC - CPU vs. GPU Acceleration" In the benchmark results there were almost no to no differences between rendering on cpu(i7 5820k) or cpu(i7 5820k) + gpu(multiprocessing) I would like to get an explanation why there is no differences and maby also a way to get it working better. robin. rig : OS windows 10 pro Cpu Interl Core i7 5820k @3,30GHz ( no overclocked )Gpu MSI Geforce GTX 970 4G ( no overclocked )Mobo MSI x99a Raider Ram Kingston HyperX Fury 16 GB DDR4-2133 ( no overclocked )Cooler Corsair Hydro Series H105 Psu Cooler Master G650M Hard Disc 1 Samsung Evo 840 240 GB Hard Disc 2 Seagate HDD 2 TB
