As the title says i need to figure out how to activate windows 10 after reinstalling because of corrupt upgrade from 8.1. Originally I did not do a clean install and just upgraded from windows 8.1 with media creation tool. The installation somehow got corrupted and i HAD to do a fresh install because my task bar and other shit wouldn't work. Now my old windows 8.1 key does not activate windows 10 (as it once did.) So what do i do? Any help would be appreciated Microsoft blows.

so I upraded my laptop to windows 10 on release, and so far its been ok. However, ive been having an issue with my office 2013 install. I'll preface this by saying the Office 365 software was provided through my university for free. It installs the full version of office 2013 for up to 5 machines, so there's no product key to enter, just run the downloaded installer. On the page where i download the installer, it lists my laptop as having one of the 5 available installs of Office. It installed just fine, but when i opened a word document and it displayed the error message " Microsoft Office cannot verify the license for this product. You should repair the Office program by using Control Panel". Both the quick repair, and the online repair fail to fix anything, and the problem persists. Is it a windows 10 problem, and is there a fix, or should i go back to Windows 7??

As the title states, I have installed Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit onto my newly wiped system. The key I have is actually Windows 8 Pro, not 8.1. I had this problem before but was able to contact Microsoft and they gave me some code that I entered and windows was activated. I tried this again and I was told to basically buy a new 8.1 key. Is there any solution to this problem that doesn't invole buying a new key or wiping my system yet again? Thanks if you can provide any help!

I'm really worried about it because I have a group licence on my Windows 8 PC and I can't upgrade to Windows 8.1 via Windows Update. I can through installing it from the Internet, but it'll be in a test mode. I don't have the GWX thing and Microsoft says that only users with Windows 7/8.1 can upgrade for free and still have it activated. I have Windows 8 and I really want to upgrade and have it activated, but I'm not sure if by saying "7/8.1" users they mean this or "7/8/8.1". What do you think? I couldn't find answer anywhere else. Huge thanks in advance (it's really important to me), Thomas

I just bought a hard copy of GTA V PC version, and I can't activate it! Everyime I launch the game, it would require me to download a 60Gb update and that's where the problem starts. I would always give the Unable to connect to download server error. Is this a problem with my connection? can't I just skip this part and play the campaign immediately? I bought this copy because I thought I wouldn't need to download anything that large at all. It's a bit disappointing that I can't play the game immediately.

Recently i have encountered a really annoying window popping up about every hour repeating the message of "This computer is not running genuine Windows" at first i just thought it must of been a mistake , but i was wrong and ever since about a fem months ago i have been seeing the message. After searching through control panel in system i am being told my windows is genuine but still the message pops up even though it says in system that my windows IS activated. Im not sure why it continues to do this but would love some help. Hi guys, How is it possible that gog.com doesn't provide CD-Key for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. I bought the game on GOG last week because they had the best price and 20% discount for people whi own The Witcher 1,2. However I want to activate the game on Steam and Origin. I have requested a CD-Key but they refuse to give one because it is not a multiplayer game so there is no reason for me to have a CD-Key and they don't give keys just activate their games elsewhwer. Can they do this, I mean Steam provided games for The Witcher 1,2, that is how I activated theme on GOG, there is no way that they don't generate CD-Keys. How can I convice theme? If nothing else: is there at least a downloadable client for GOG, because I cant' find a download link for GOG Galaxy?

So I just got a OnePlus One invite, and as a teenager still in highschool without a job I can't exactly support a phone with a contract yet, nor will my parents pay for the phone service. My old iPod Touch 4th gen is wearing out and in need of replacement, and I wanted to go with Android since, in my opinion, it is superior to iOS. I have heard that you can use Android phones without them being activated to a service plan, but I couldn't find any documentation if it worked with the OnePlus One. I really want to get this phone since the pricing is better than any other smartphone out there for the specs that it has, but I need to know if I can go ahead with my plan and use a One without it on a service plan. Anybody out there know? Thanks

So I have my Windows 8 Pro copy that I bought a while back. I purchased the upgrade pack and did a clean install and, for some reason, did not have any problems. Now I'm about to do another clean install so I was wondering how to go about the activation process. Do I have to deactivate or just format the drive? How can I let Microsoft know it is actually a clean install of the same copy and not an install in another machine? Thanks!

I read elsewhere in various posts that Microsoft Office 2010 64b ("MO10") is multi threaded and, in short, seem to utilize hardware etc etc. So I got a claimed to be a cracked version of MO10 from [REDACTED] in my newly built PC. I learnt this week that this is actually a trial and in need of a licence. I tried various so called cracked versions but non worked. I sought to buy a licence from Microsoft's main website, however I can't seem to find the link!?!!? They are pushing for the 365 version.

Hello, So I've recently upgraded to a larger SSD and since doing so Windows has constantly prompted me to buy a new activation key. I tried contacting support several times and once I got through I was cut off. My question is can I buy a brand new Windows package from Amazon to be delivered to me, then simply put in the License key that comes with that to activate my current installation of Windows? Or do I have to buy the license key they are promoting for right now? Since buying a new package is cheaper I would prefer to do that. All help is greatly appreciated!

Hello, new member here. I've been trying to figure this out for the best part of a weekend now to no success. I'm moving soon and my only computer will be an Acer S3-391 ultrabook that I had lying around. Problem is, it had a 500GB HDD full of bloatware and the drive was pretty slow to start with. So I swapped that out for an old yet reliable Intel 520 120GB ssd. Luckily I already had Windows installed so I could re-install within Windows once it was on my new laptop but here's the problem. If I want to reinstall using USB it won't work. Apparently OEMs now stick their Windows activation key in the BIOS and Windows will always check that rather than letting you enter your own. I've tried editing the PID.txt and EI.txt files in my USB installer to no success. Is there any way you lot know of to bypass the BIOS activation so I can activate using my legit product key?

Hi guys, I'm in a bit of a jam here, I recently got back home to Sri Lanka after a trip to the states and switched out my graphics card in my rig. I was able to get the card installed without any problems and it runs perfectly fine but after changing it my copy of windows 8.1 pro that I purchased online is saying that it is no longer activated. I tried activating it but all I got was the error code in the title of this post ( 0xC004F012 ) I contacted customer support here in Sri Lanka but they said I had to send an email to the Indian support line which I did but they were even less helpful. Below is the email they sent me Hello J, Thank you for contacting Microsoft Customer Service. I understand from your mail that you are unable to activate Windows 8 and receiving 0xC004F012. I bought a Family Pack of Microsoft Office 2010. I registered one copy on Windows 8 on my old SSD before it died, and I was unable to deactivate it before it died. I am now installing it on my new SSD. My dad and sister are going to take the other two licenses, all 3 of which work off the same code. The question is, will the original activation (on the now dead SSD) be overridden by the three newer activations, or will I have to call Microsoft?

I'm not sure this is the perfect section for this question but it is close enough. I am looking to find a website that sells just the windows 7 home premium 64bit activation keys. I know amazon/scan and what not sell windows 7 but they are all with the disk and i want the key as soon as possible. i was also hopeing that if i just bought the key it would be cheaper than buying the key and the disk. If this isn't a thing then that's fine i guess ill have to buy a disk but any help would be great. Framski

Retrieving your key In a lot of cases, people want to do a clean install of windows on their machine for whatever reason, and don't have the OEM key. While in most cases the sticker on the bottom will telly you what you need to know, but if you lack the sticker or are otherwise unable to find your key, I will show you how to retrieve the key from any properly activated copy of windows, OEM or not. While there are a lot of programs out there to retrieve keys, the one I will be demonstrating is called Belarc Advisor. I picked this program for a few reasons. First, it's free. A lot of programs charge for retrieving windows keys, and that's really counter-intuitive. Second, it's a security program that I happen to really trust. Also, it doesn't feel like bloatware, run when windows starts, or install any shit like Bing toolbars or anything unwanted at all. It's a company that is really geared towards professionals, and I used their software back in my IT days. While Belarc Advisor isn't for commercial use, they do offer other programs for that. The last reason is that it's the most detailed, and I have consistently gotten the best results from it. Not only does it show your keys for windows, but other software as well, like Adobe products, and even a lot of games. So here we go, it's pretty simple. First, download and install Belarc Advisor. http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html When you install it, you may skip looking for security updates and scanning the local network since we are just using it for keys. Once it's done loading, an IE window should pop up. (Yes, IE. Regardless of default browser) Scroll down to "Software Licenses" You'll likely see almost everything you've entered a key for in here. (Sorry about the big black boxes. I was gonna blur, but Photoshop keeps crashing after I updated to windows 8.1 from 7, and I don't feel like messing with it at the moment.) Once you find your windows version, the key will be be listed right next to it. That's it! Just write it down or email it to yourself for later. I keep this program on a USB drive. It's a good tool to allow you to fix other's machines without needing them to buy windows again, regardless of the state of the sticker. Deactivating Windows Sometimes you'll want to transfer your license from one machine to another. Maybe you got an upgrade, or a new system. It's important to note that an OEM license may or may not transfer to a different PC. Keep in mind that this may not be necessary, as despite only being allowed on one machine at a time, the non-OEM keys allow for as many differnt installs as you like. As it turns out, in a lot of cases it may allow you to run multiple machines at once, maybe two or three, all activated. This seems to be especially true with msdn keys. Keep in mind that you are only allowed to have one machine activated at a time with most key types. And that's what this deactivation guide is for. It is your responsibility to know what is and is not technically allowed with you key, and act on that with your discretion. Here's a good place to start. http://www.microsoft.com/oem/en/licensing/sblicensing/Pages/licensing_faq.aspx#fbid=fe0Yk5SF4Ax Also, I would like to mention that I'm not responsible if for some reason you deactivate windows and are not able to reactivate it, or you don't have your key or something. That's you own fault. This is pretty simple. First, make sure you are connected to the internet. Next, open command prompt as an administrator. Enter this: slmgr.vbs -upk[i know this works in vista and up, but I'm not sure about windows xp, and I don't have anything running it right now to try it.]If successful, you should get no feedback or message in the command prompt window. Instead this should pop up To check to see if your computer is deactivated, go to Control Panel > System. Activated Not activated I have done this quite a few times now, and thus far i have not had a problem. But you may. So what if this didn't deactivate, or your were not able to activate on the new machine using the key you just removed from the old machine? Try again. If you are still unable to, the last resort is calling the hotline, and explaining your situation to a representative. Here is a tutorial for phone activation. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950929 When you call, you'll need to talk to a person. This can be an issue as it's is all voice prompts and totally automated. However, according to gethuman.com, you can get to a person by staying silent. I called to verify this. The voice asked me about activating Windows XP quite a few times. I never new a computer could sound so impatient. Finally, it asked about talking to an agent, but encouraged me not to. I was able at this point to say "Transfer Me Anyway", and it connected me to an agent. You'll need to have the activate by phone screen up on the new computer, with your machine code on screen. They can assist you with this if you can't find it/or it wont take you key at all. There is no guarantee they'll be able to help you with this, but in cases where you are allowed to transfer to a different PC, (look at the MS article about licenses I listed above), namely non-OEM keys, they should be able to/are supposed to. Some of them simply will not know what you are talking about. Be patient and polite. Maybe try again to get a different agent. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Well that's it! Do not PRE-ORDER games! Here are some example with explanation: Battlefield: Hardline Because its EA. They give unfinished & broken products. Remember Battlefield 4. Assassins Creed Unity, The Division, & Rainbow Six Siege If you are on PC do not Pre-Order because Ubisoft make games unoptimized on PC like Assassins Creed Black Flag and Watch Dogs. Call of Duty: Advance Warefare If you are on PC do not Pre-Order because Activation make games unoptimized on PC like Call of Duty Ghost.
