Hello! I'm about to buy a MSI 980 and i'm currently using a 6 years old Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 600w, it has 2 6+2pin connectors but being already 6 years old is concerning me, should I change it now? I'm using this psu with this specs: -i7 2600 @ 4.2ghz -Crucial Ballistix Tactical 4x8 32gb -XFX R9 270X 2GB (using x2 6pin) -Sentey Arvina -Asus P8Z68-V LE -Cooler Master 212 EVO -x3 1tb WD Caviar Black -120gb SSD Kingston The computer is pretty much loaded, prices here in Argentina are really high but i'm really considering to get a new PSU. What do you recommend?

I have another SLI issue, last time i sorted it out with DDU, but this time, the problem persists. I am playing the division, on 2x gtx 980 sli, and when i turn it on, i drop 10 frames in the game. So these are what I have tried: Uninstalling drivers using DDU and reinstalling latest normal and BETA nvidia drivers. Re-installing the game using only the game and nothing else. The issue that i am having is that when ever i check GPU usage, i get 99% on main and 70% on the second one, that should be a GOOD thing. BUT, it ends up COSTING me frames!! Specs are as follows Asus Z87-A Motherboard CX750M PSU 2x MSI 980 In SLI 2 SSD 240gb 1 500gb HDD Intel I7 4770k processor 16gb of ddr3 1600mhz ram connected to 3 monitors, one being the predator x34 and 2 generics 1080p monitors. I want to know whether the SLI bridge could be an issue, the motherboard ? the power unit ? what am i doing wrong!? If anyone can help that would be fantastic, I would normally chalk it up to drivers / game optimization, but others have reported good fps with sli, sigh. Running it on my acer x34 at 3440x1440p

Hey guys, I've got a H440 atm abut it's too smalle. Can't close the side panel with my water cooler on the back, as it's too thick. HDD bays are out and HDD's are sideways due to the ginormous G1 Gaming 980's. I need a large case that's nice, not TOO bulky and that's neat. Any recommendations? I think the 750d is cool, it's just quite expensive. Cheers

Hi All, First post here, big fan! I got an EVGA 980 Ti SuperClocked, and I was wondering if it is possible to modify it so it is watercooled like one of those AIOs from, say, Corsair. Any recommendations are welcome, I'm looking for 2x 120MM (Since this thing heats up like there's no tomorrow!) Thank you all!

I am building a hardline watercooling build in the parvum s2.0 and I have run across the issue of not having enough room to store all my cables. I have an 80mm radiator in the back with some tubing, and I am using large cable extensions which means I have to shove all the full length psu cables behind the case as well as the extenders. In order to free up some space, I invested in a molex splitter: http://www.performance-pcs.com/top-quality-18awg-molex-to-6-x-molex-cable-splitter.html to power my pump and lighting, but I was wondering if I could also stick some of these: on the splitter to power my GPU (GTX 980). If that doesn't work, I can also plug it into the remaining 3 molex connectors on the psu cable. I was just wondering if this would be theoretically possible because that would save my bacon in terms of cable management. (I do plan to overclock the GPU). (My powersupply is a Corsair RM1000)

I am in the market for a new GPU...one or two months sooner than I had anticipated. Once I sold one of my HD 7970's, the news started to spread around the University campus like wild-fire... Anyways, coming from two HD 7970's in Crossfire, I am looking into upgrade to a single R9-Fury. Just earlier this week, a used GTX 980 came up in the local classifieds. It is a used EVGA GTX 980 SC with the reference cooler, and the asking price is $550 Canadian. Considering a brand-new GTX 980 goes for about $660 (i.e. Gigabyte WindForce 3X) -- $550 seems some-what reasonable. Unfortunately, the seller is selling just the card itself -- no original accessories, packaging, nothing. Additionally, the person is not in town, they are about a 1 ~ 1.5 hour driver away...so 2~3 hours driving round trip. The new GPU will be going into my existing AMD system (I have both an AMD and Intel build). HOLD ON. I know, I know, but listen to me. I am in the plans of doing an major over-haul with my AMD system; either jumping on the X99 platform with a i7-5820K or Z170 with a i7-6700K. Frick, even I know the AM3+ / FX-8350 will hold things back.I won't be placing the X99 / Z170 order with the new GPU...because ~$2000 for the X99 set-up or ~$1600 for Z170 -- then again, I am throwing money on ASUS ROG boards. (I've used three ROG boards in a row; hard to let it go...the addiction is real ) So...R9-Fury, or GTX 980 SC? Sapphire Nitro R9-Fury: ~ $750 (because crappy USD-to-CDN exchange rate right now) Used, reference EVGA GTX 980 SC card alone: ~$550 (and gas money + time) If anyone is curious, here is the GTX 980 ad: http://www.usedvictoria.com/classified-ad/EVGA-GTX-980-SC-_27037857 Another option is to go down a step or two, and grab a R9-390 or GTX 970...but dammit, I only upgrade my GPUs like every other generation (i.e. a bunch of HD 5850's >> two 7970's). Any input on this?

Hello guys, im very much new to this whole computer building scene (as I am 13 years old). So i was wondering about two things: What gpu i should get for two 1080p monitors (one of which could become 144hz). Also if i should buy 16 or 8gb of ram. So the current build i have in mind would have: i7 6700, 8gb or 16gb of ddr4 ram, asus maximus VIII ranger and (most likly) the graphics card i you guys recommend to me. EDIT: If you didn't notice, i'm also new to making threads and those sorts of things, so. I would be playing games from League of Legends to games like Battlefield 4 and 5 when that comes out . My budget would also be in the 500 to 650 us dollar range maybe i could manage 700 so keep that in mind. BUT the currency converting is kind of tough, because if im gonna order from a website such as Amazon, it will add 24% of the gpu's cost on to the final outcome. But if im gonna buy it in my local store the budget will be quite a bit more by like 200 or so dollars. And also i was thinking of getting the 6700k, but i have no idea how to overclock, hyperthread and do all that fancy stuff. OMG I JUST NOTICED THAT I WROTE "Battlefront" instead of "Battlefield" and i am so sorry it will never happen again please don't yell at me. Thanks dudes ANOTHER EDIT: So i haave pretty much decided on the R9 390x But... Now i have more questions for you guys(im sorry). Firstly: Now, should i upgrade to a 6700k even though i don't know how to overclock or hyperthread it? Secondly: Ram, how much should i get of it 8 or 16gb? And on that note, 3000mhz, 2666mhz or 2400mhz? And, as i said, im very new to this whole pc building and i am sorry if this annoy's you, but i'm just trying to get my pc not to suck and get the most out of my money, so thank you for your answers

Hey guys. I need a final answer for FreeNAS. important data will be stored on here that I really don't want to lose (home videos, valuable pics etc) which is why I will definitely be going with ECC ram. I have about 5TB of hard drive space to put stuff on. so, Which the better option? 1) g3220 Pentium, h87 ASRock mobo, 24GB micron ddr3 ECC ram, $140 in total OR 2) 2x x5260 Xeons, Supermicro X7DCL-3 dual socket mobo, 16GB Kingston ddr2 ECC ram, $70 in total Thanks a lot for all the help because i really need help deciding

Hi all, First time posting here, ive been following the youtube forever but i recently came across a glitch that i cant figure out and google isnt helping me find an answer either. I just started playing diablo3 again and it randomly freezes, then all the walls and models disappear except for the floor, then 2 seconds later, everything catches up. It seems like anything 3D vanishes. Ive never had this problem in the past while playing and it doesnt happen in any other games I play. i74970k 4ghz 32gig ram 1800mhz GTX 980ti Games and OS on 2 separate SSDs Nvidia 144hz gsync monitor Win10 pro most recent update I super overwhelm this game and my graphics drivers are up to date. Any thoughts? I recently had the game crash and it says "application blocked from accessing hardware." And now it appears maybe once every few hours. Im wondering if this is from the most recent Win10 update because when i alt+tab my games, the task bar no longer appears on the bottom unless i move another screen over my games (play in windowed fullscreen since i have a dual monitor setup). The windows key works fine making the task bar appear though. I ran a DDU and installed my 980ti drivers fresh and the issue still persists. I have gsync active and vsync enabled in nvidia control panel but NOT in game like im supposed too. Maybe there's another global or app setting in 3d manager that's causing this issue? Anyone know a fix for this glitch? Let me know if you need any more details, im going to try and actively monitor this thread.

i recently did an rma on my motherboard as both bios's corrupted and i received the replacement today and have finished building my system back up but when i turn the system on i have no power led (could be my fault) both my monitors are blank and my keyboard runs in sort of a demo mode... why won't the system post? could my old motherboard have damaged my graphics cards so neither of them will output a signal? i have no clue now on why it will not post.

Hello Guys So, I have been looking to upgrade my gtx660 for a while now and since the 10er series is out I thought about buying a used 9er series card. I found an offer for 2 gtx970 aswell as for a gtx980 while the two 970 most likely are gonna be a bit more expensive but that isn't sure since it's an auction. So what would you guys recommend? I'm on a budget so a 1070 isn't really an option. Should I maby just go for the cheaper one? Thanks a lot and have a nice evening

I can get myself a 'gtx 980 msi gaming' for less than a 'gtx 1060 msi gamingX'. Should I get the 980? What are the pros and cons?? Thanks for your help guys!

Hi all and thanks for reading. I'm new to the world of PC building and I'll be putting together my own soon. However, I'm not a gamer and I don't plan on using the machine for gaming. I'm an aspiring VFX artist and work in various 3D and video editing applications. For the sake of argument, I'll start off by saying that I'm going with an NVIDIA GPU. I haven't quite nailed down every single component yet but I do know that I'll be using the following: CPU: Intel Core i7 6850k Motherboard: Asus X99 Deluxe II OR Asus z170 WS RAM: 32GB OS: Windows 10 Pro Now, my question is which Graphics card should I choose? I know that the Quadro series is built for exactly what I will being doing however given my budget for a GPU ($500- $700, 700 being an extreme) I could get GTX 1080 or a GTX 980 ti that will both have more GB than the Quadro that is in my price range. I know that GB isn't everything when it comes to GPUs, but when you're talking about 8GB vs 4GB, doesn't that justify thinking about? Here are the cards I've been thinking about (all GDDR5): GeForce GTX 1080 FE 8GB PCI Express 3.0 GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB PCI Express 3.0 Quadro M2000 4GB PCI Express 3.0 Quadro K2200 4GB PCI Express 2.0 Thank you all for your help and advice. Also, feel free to tell me if I'm being a complete idiot and this question is dumb; like I said, I'm new to this. Thanks.

I am going to buy a 980 Ti and I want it to match my black/red theme with my black/red NZXT Manta. Amazon offers me this graphics card for $470. I was thinking about buying the MSI version on Amazon so i don;t have to paint it because I have 0 experience taking apart any graphics cards or painting it so I am torn. The MSI version is also $300 more so I could use some help figuring out what to do. I don't want to mess up my color scheme or break the bank. If there are pre painted versions that anybody can find for cheaper prices let me know -Sam See Style Options EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti Super Clocked Gaming ACX 2.0 6GB GDDR5 384bi PCI-E Graphic Card (06G-P4-4995-KR)

I might be looking for a new graphics card in a few months or so. I'm thinking about either the 980 Ti or the GTX 1070. They cost about the same, but the 980 Ti has slightly better performance. But, the 1070 is newer and may have other benefits that I haven't thought of. Which one should I go for? Keep in mind that what is in stock currently does not matter, I will buy the card later. Is there an equivalent AMD card that has a better value in that price range? Thanks.

I currently have two monitors connected to my computer (using an MSI GTX 980) one of the monitors is connected through DVI-D dual link and the other using display port. Whenever I turn on my computer however the display port monitor turns on temporarily and then says "Going to power save mode". Then the DVI monitor turns on, shows the option to go into the BIOS and then the windows logo and then the login screen for windows, all the while the display port monitor remains off. The only way to fix this is to unplug the DP cable from the computer and plug it back in and only then will both the displays be working until I turn the computer off again and i have to do it all over again. If any of you have suggestions I would love to hear them!

So I kinda have a problem, And its with overclocking my gpu. So I dedicated my entire day yesterday, to find how far I could push my card. However once I thought I had reached its "sweet Spot" and stress tested it for a while, I would double check it by running another stress test. The problem Is that the overclock would normally reset on the second test, even though it had not reset on the long first one. I stayed patient and dialed it down some, and tried again, and this time after stress testing all day, the overclock stuck with no other problems either. Then I went to bed, and after I woke up and tried to play a game, it reset. Am I doing anything wrong? I will say im pretty new to doing this, but Ive read a lot of guides and such, and have good cooling, so why does it do that?

I am constantly being asked by people whether they should buy the 1080 or 1070. Although this decision is an important one to make there is another aspect that must be taken in consideration. A large amount of people asking about this upgrade are going from cards such as the GTX 670 or similar and are playing games such at CS:GO, League Of Legends and Dota 2. They don't spend too much time playing AAA titles and are only gaming oat 1080p anyways. Most of them are already running their games at 60+ fps at max settings meaning they are running the game better than the monitor can handle. To some I have suggested down sampling to 1080p from a higher resolutions as even their current car can handle those games. Some have come to me asking about this upgrade while they are sunning a core 2 duo and 4gb of ram...... we can all see where the bottleneck is here. So this message goes out to all people looking to buy a 1070,1080 or simply upgrading your current. As yourself these questions: 1. Are there any games I play that do not run at the settings I want? 2. Do I have the monitor to run at higher fps and higher resolutions? 3. Is my GPU even my main bottleneck or is it my RAM or CPU? 4. How much better of a car will I need? 5. Will a previous gen card suffice my needs? 6. Should I upgrade my pc/monitor first? Take in consideration these questions and you may be surprised that you may not need an upgrade or you may need to upgrade other bottlenecking components first. Good luck on your purchasing decisions.

Annoyed by the constant misleading performance benchmarks of the 1080 and 1070, I decided to do a short analysis of my own using benchmarks from Guru3D. Specifically, the 980 Matrix Platinum, 1070 Gaming X, 980 Ti Water Force, and 1080 Gaming X. Comparing cards by their reference version is just plain dumb and inaccurate. To check all the data and calculation, here is the google doc I took all the benchmarks that could be compared between the cards and calculated the relative performance against each other. I'm not happy with the sample size, but there aren't many websites that have reviewed aftermarket 1080 and 1070's AND have comparable results with aftermarket 980 and 980 Ti's. If anyone got more or have already done a more thorough analysis, please let me know! In text form, here is the conclusion: Obviously no one likes texts. So here are some graphs for your viewing pleasure! (In percentage) Firstly, DAMN, 980 is as good as dead. At least here in Europe. 980 and 1070 are similarly priced at 500 euros. I'll be expecting a price drop for it soon. My original guess was that the 980 Ti and 1080 won't have a significant difference, and that the 980 Ti should handily beat the 1070. Semi right on one regard and wrong on the latter. Seems like the 1070 stays remarkably close to the 980 Ti. Remember, both of these are aftermarket cards, not those reference bullshit. However it seems when both cards are overclocked, 980 Ti starts holding it's own against the 1070, even if just by a tiny bit. I do wish there was more comparable benchmark of all cards fully overclocked. Relying on a single firestrike benchmark just doesn't cut it. It seems at more standard resolution, 1080P, I was right, the 1080 only has a 12% improvement over the 980 Ti. The gap closes even further when both are overclocked! (7%) However once resolution starts increasing, the 1080 flies! At 4k there is an enormous 21.8% gap! Perhaps it's the increased bandwidth and more VRAM on the 1080 that's giving this performance increase? Either way that's great news for VR. But for, well, I believe the majority of gamers at 1080P with a 980 Ti, a 1080 may not seem like the upgrade it's hyped to be. That's it for me, just wanted to share my analysis and hopefully get some more realistic view of how all these cards compares. What do you guys think? More data to sort the relative performance better are of course welcomed!

Hello, I have a BenQ XL2420G and a GTX 980 as a part of my gaming rig, but I have a problem. I decided that it would be a good idea to go ahead and follow the steps to run my monitor at a non-native resolution through Ordered Grid Super Sampling Anti-Aliasing. I was able to complete the steps without a problem. I upped my resolution from 1920 by 1080 to 2560 by 1440 and everything went just fine after that. However when I went and restarted my computer I was getting no visual of any kind. I have however been able to connect via HDMI using the monitors Classic mode. I have checked resolution settings in Nvidia Control Panel and they have reverted to native settings. Continually, in Nvidia Control Panel it would appear that it doesn't even recognize that it is connected via DisplayPort and HDMI simultaneously, it only recognizes HDMI. The moment I unplug HDMI and switch over to DisplayPort (G-Sync) on the monitor the screen goes black. I have tried deleting all graphics drivers and updating them (while the DisplayPort Cable was disconnected) per someones suggestion. I was then able to use DisplayPort again and gain a visual. But the moment I either restarted or shut down and reopened there was no visual and I end up back at square one with all the same problems as before. Is there a problem with my graphics card, or is it something else? Does anyone have an idea as to a solution? Thanks

Hello all I have 2 Gigabyte G1 980's and the fan speed on one of them is stuck at ~4000 RPM (attached picture shows whats happening) When i first installed it I noticed that it was loud, after a while it stopped, but now it is back. So I have a GTX 980 and I am thinking about buying the new GTX1080. But I do not want to let my 980 collect dust while I wait on build a new NAS/VM system. So I am wondering if using a 980 as a PhysX card would be a good idea? Also can you mix and match GPU architecture with NVidia PhysX? Sorry I don't know much about PhysX at this time.
