So I took a look at all the 980's on amazon and all of them seem to have the reference cooler on the picture. However the Gigabyte one seems to have the Windforce cooler on it according to the description. So my question is that do any of them actually have a reference cooler on them? http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=%22gtx%20980%22

Videocardz ran a story yesterday saying that the R9 285X was cancelled based on a tweet. AMD was quick to dismiss the rumor and stated that AMD can't cancel a product that doesn't exist. The 285X was never announced by AMD and to say that it was cancelled is silly according to AMD. When asked to comment, Robert Hallock, AMD’s head of Technical Communications had this to say : A Tonga XT graphics card with 2048 SPs will be released eventually although it seems AMD doesn't want to call it 285X. The card might get released with the R9 300 series along with the new water-cooled card. Full story here.

So I have wanted the Sapphire r9 290x Vapor-X for awhile now. The Vapor-X card matches my system, has great cooling, and has a very nice looking back-plate. Now that the new 980 from Nvidia has come out, I am thinking about that as well. I honestly have no Idea which one that I will get. I have a few questions: 1- What is the performance difference between these two cards? 2- How good is the cooling on the 980? 3- how much of a performance increase will I get from each of these cards? I am currently running a PNY 650. Thanks for your comments!

Soo it might just be me but i can't find any release date ( consumer release date) for the 980 & 970 in europe. The netherlands and or Germany in specific. thanks for helping me out!

Ok so I am doing my first pc build very soon which I have been saving for a long time , and yes I probably will have a build log. All I need to get to complete my pc is my gpu and cpu. Right now i have 650$ should I A) get the 980 for around 500-600 $ or B) Get the 970 and my cpu now if I go for the 980 i will have to wait about two months to afford my cpu, my question is which one should i get will the 980 be worth the wait , keep in mind I don't want to upgrade too soon Thanks for your time!

Good afternoon, I'm requesting the help of the comunity for check comments and suggestions about this: I have already an GTX760 SLI since 3 months, but the arrival of the new 900 series, I'm really having a bad time thinking if I should upgrade NOW or stick with my 2 760's for at least another 6-7 months, I know a single 980 overperform SLI 760 but what im looking for is price/performance... for gaming: 1080P, single screen. I really need many opinions.. Greetings and thank you in advice!

I bought 2 GTX 980 only to discover that the DSR function from Nvidia doesn't work in sli configuration. When sli is disabled the option for DSR appear in Nvidia controlpanel and sli enabled the option disappeares. Some has made it work in sli and some hasn't and got the same problem as me. Can any one confirm that DSR doesn't work in sli? Does anyone have a solution? Kind Regards.

Greeting everyone, I would like to make thread about mobile new generation 9XXM from Nvidia. Here's some info from internet (sources at bottom) and I would like to make discussion about it. GeForce GTX 900M series will be named: GT 940M* GTX 950M* GTX 960M* GTX 970M GTX 975M GTX 980M (Spips in October) *No info about them at this moment About GeForce 9XXM series This generation will be based on GM204 chip. Probably this chip will be in version GM204B and still 28nm process. This generation promises desktop class gaming and 980M/97xM may be capable of gaming beyon 1080p. But main WOW is in power consumption, because Nvidia announces that this Maxwell generation is able to run on battery (100W) and also lower thermal output. y And there is new update in technology Nvidia Battery Boost which was used in 8XXM series. This technology hold 30+ FPS and hold it at this level if you need to. For example if you play FPS you need more FPS (lol - first person shooter, frames per second) but if you play strategy or some static game you dont need high FPS for static scene. With Battery Boost works new updated Nvidia Experience with plugged and battery optimalization settings. Anytime you can play game higher than 30 FPS (I would say 60 FPS in 980M) and on battery you can still manage quite long game time. In compare to Kepler, this Maxwell generation has from 1.5 to 2 times faster NVENC video encoder (from 6 to 8 times the speed of playback). Pure Video Feature Set E decoding should go from 8 to 10 times better thanks to cache and memory efficiency. But still H.265 is not fully hardware supported for decoding, so is used hardware and software mix for decoding boost instead. 970M and 975M GTX has core clock of 954 MHz and it should be able to operate at 954-993 MHz. It has 6GB memory and according to all data I've read 975M is going to have higher core and memory clock or in my opinion 970M would have 4GB memory and 975M 6GB - this is just speculation. But stil 97XM version has slower memory bus it's 192 bit, but still outperforms all curren mobile cards. In compare to 980M is 20% slower. Release date is unknown. 980M Has 8GB memory as 880M and same memory bus - 256 bit. Core speed is nice 1032 MHz and boost is up to 1098 MHz. This performace is capable to play on highest settings on 1080p at 60FPS. TDP is unknow but probably is going to be around 100-115 W. And there is some crazy result 980 vs 980M Two way SLI. 980 got at Fire Strike nice 10415 and 980M SLI (yes its SLI, but hey it's laptop card) got awesome 13181. 980M SLI is totatly 1080p 60 FPS Ultra settings choice, probably nothing you throw at it gonna stop it bellow 60 FPS. Videocardz.com said that from unknown reason 980M SLI is insanely greater than 980, scaling is 95%+! "Whether this is just a well written driver or a new technology for mobile GPUs, we do not know yet.". 980M is going to be shipped in October.

We know Maxwell is coming and prices for the GTX 980 and 970 have already been leaked but AMD is not standing still either. New leaks indicate that AMD's brand new liquid cooling design from Asetek which debuted on the R9 295X2 is evidently coming with a new single-GPU card. Allegedly the R9 390X. Now if you guys remember a few months back I broke the news on LTT about AMD's two next generation GPUs. One measuring ~350mm² and the other measuring ~500mm². Now we can confirm that the first has been launched and it's the Tonga GPU powering the R9 285 and the upcoming R9 285X. The second GPU measuring in at ~500mm² makes it a massive chip and certainly the largest AMD has ever made. Liquid cooling would certainly be a requirement at this point to cool such a large GPU at reasonable acoustics and temperatures. Source

Well well well, I was browsing amazon & I happened to stumble upon a brand new 780 from Asus for $439.99 & a 780 Ti from the same company for $589.99. These seem like eminent price cuts to me in anticipation of Maxwell, hold on to your horses we might even see 290Xs coming down in price ! http://www.amazon.com/Thermal-Direct-GPU-Contact-Graphics-GTX780-DC2OC-3GD5/dp/B00DWV3NM6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1409686221&sr=8-3&keywords=GTX+780 http://www.amazon.com/Asus-GTX780TI-DC2OC-3GD5-ASUS-Graphics-Cards/dp/B00HSY1RVC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=undefined&sr=8-3&keywords=GTX+780+ti

The white walker I wanted a new PC mainly to use for video editing, photo editing and some gaming. It's called the "White walker" because I thought it would be cool to have a black&white colour scheme to the rig and I'm also a huge Game of Thrones fan, so the theme would tie in nicely. The component selection was based on performance, but also looks. Some components I haven't decided on yet, so you could help me chose between the ones I wrote in the parts list. HERE, you can find the link to a shared Google Docs document, since I'll be doing a few special things that aren't on pcpartpicker.com, although I also made a list on there which can be found HERE. What are your thoughts?

Dear friends, Good day. I would like to hear your opinions on my concern. I own a very old rig based on LGA 775 and I cannot play games any more. In general, as you understand, I cannot do anything. Even my internet browsing has become very laggy. So I feel like building a new one. I am interested in building with the following specs: Mobo: Gigabyte X99 Gaming 5 (or MSI X99 Gaming 7) CPU: Intel Core i7 5930K RAM: Corsair DDR4 16Gb (4x4Gb) 2800 MHz Vengeance LPX BL PSU: Corsair HX 1000W 80+ Platinum Modular Graphics: 2x MSI GTX 980 4Gb OC V1 (SLi arrangement) Case: Corsair Obsidian Series 900D Please note that I already own HDDs and 2 Corsair SSDs on RAID 0 so I do not need disks at all. I also intend to watercool my future rig. I already own a 2x12cm rad, a small tank and a very good pump, Swiftec MCP 655. I would like my new PC to be capable of 4K gaming. I am also looking for a good 4K monitor. Do you think that I should purchase a gaming PC monitor or a high-end Smart-TV which also delivers very useful technologies as DLNa, USB playback and recording, very high refresh rate etc? On this matter specifically I am very confused... Why the gaming community insists on buying gaming monitors while the latest TVs have the before mentioned technologies as well as very high specs? Guys please spare a some time to share your thoughts with me. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hi my name is Andrea and I need your help I can't decide between these 2 beauties, which one would be a better option and why? At the moment I play on a 27" 1080p IPS tv/monitor and my pc specs are: cpu i5 4670k @4.00Ghz gpu gtx 980 (reference from zotac) ram 2x4Gb 1600Mhz corsair mobo z97-g43 gaming MSI O.S. windows 8.1 psu cx600m corsair (JUST IN CASE) Adding a second gtx 980 (ofc after upgrading my mobo and psu) wouldn't be a money issue, but I don't feel like spending that extra money... is sli REALLY worth it? STILL my question is about these 2 monitors considering my pc specs (single gpu) thank you

So I'm currently in the process of getting my parts together for a $1500-$1700 (Canadian) build. Most of the budget is being dumped into the GTX 980 so I'm finding ways to actually stay within budget. I can save some coin by running a lower wattage power supply, though I'm staying 80 plus gold or above. Will 650w be enough to power the system. Most likely some light overclocking on both cpu (i5 4690k) and gpu (980). SLI is not really part of future plans... thanks for the help.

I'm building two identical computers with a GTX 980Ti, an Intel i7-4790K, and a NZXT Phantom 530 White Case. I'm wanting to liquid-cool the CPU and GPU, and I've seen this cooling kit: EVGA 100-WC-S201-BR Watercooling Kit for Hadron Hydro and I know that this kit comes with a CPU block that is compatible. I'm getting this GPU block for the 980Tis: EKWB EK-FC Titan X Water Block (Nickel Plexi). The kit also comes with radiator, pump, etc. I have a few questions: This comes with a radiator, do I need fans for this? If so, what size, type, etc.. Will all of this fit in the case? (I can understand if you can't answer this question). Will I need any special fittings, special tubing, etc? Thanks for your help!

So as some of you may know, EVGA has a step up program where you can trade up if you bought it within 90 days. I was wondering if in your guy's opinion if it is worth it to go from this to this. I only have to pay shipping.

This report comes directly from Forbes and is quite interesting maybe even a bit controversial. AMD is planning to crash Nvidia's Game24 event in which the GTX 980 and 970 are allegedly going to be revealed for the first time. And I use the term crash here literally rather than figuratively. AMD sent out a message to its fans asking them to attend the event while proudly wearing their colors. Full email below. AMD may also intend to crash the Maxwell party figuratively by releasing a new GPU or perhaps even more than one. We know that Tonga the GPU powering the R9 285 actually has 32 Compute Units amounting to 2048 stream processors so the R9 285 is not the full chip and an R9 285X will inevitably be released. But we've also recently seen a leak featuring an image of a yet unidentified GPU shroud with the same silver & black style of the R9 295X2 but very clearly intended to cool a single GPU card. Perhaps this is the fabled R9 295X or even the R9 390X ? We'll have to wait and see but the GPU wars are definitely heating up.

I'm building a computer and I can't seem to make up my mind in the graphics card department. I'm pretty dead set on the LG 34um95 as my display (might also consider another 21:9 display), but I'm getting conflicting information on what can properly drive 3440:1440 with games and the like. I'm not dead set on maxing game settings across the board, I'd just like an enjoyable experience. The idea with this build is longevity, I'd like to have a solid setup for the next 4-6 years. With the bench-marking I've looked over it appears that the GTX 980 edges over the 970 by a marginal 15%, and I'm not sure 15% is worth an additional $200. Furthermore would the the 3.5gb vs 4gb vram become a contributing factor at this resolution?

So, I'm looking at getting an HTC vive and a new GPU to power it with, but I can't decide if I should get a 970 or a 980. This all depends on how each functions and how well they power the vive. Is the extra power of the 980 necessary? also, I want to know if there is a mother board requirement for these higher end GPUs. My current one came stock with a pre-bought computer and as such isn't a "gaming" mobo.

Current Build: Intel i5-4690k Gigabyte GTX 970 4GB 8GB G.skill ripjawsX ddr3 1600 ( soon to be 16GB when my extra 8gb comes in ) WD Blue 1TB MSI Z97 PC Mate Cooler Master V650 For my monitors I have a LG 25UM56 Ultrawide Monitor (2560x1080) and an ASUS monitor (1920x1080) Ive been considering getting a 980 but im afraid that its only going to be a tiny jump in fps. A 970 does me well when I play games like Black Ops 3 and the new Battlefront on high settings with FPS well above 60fps. Thing is that I cant have a Firefox tab open at all. Even when its just Google it causes my FPS to drop to like 45-65. Then if I wanted to listen to a music stream like Monstercat on my ASUS monitor while gaming on my LG monitor it causes the FPS to drop to 10-20. Maybe im just overkilling my 970 and should stick to one monitor but I like having both up. I've considered a 980Ti but I'm not huge on cash ( Im a 16 year old making on average 75 bucks for workin a few hours on the weekends at my job) I definitely have enough money for a 980 or even a 980Ti if I really wanted it, but then I wouldnt have like any money and if another part were to break I wouldnt have much money to replace it. So what do you guys think? Stay with my 970 and forfeit my Asus monitor or Upgrade to a GTX980 / GTX980Ti? Again keep in mind I dont have a bunch of money to throw around. But christmas is around the corner and so is my birthday . I just want to hear your thoughts.
