Do these parts seem to make sense? I will wait on the mobo, but I plan on buying the rest of the parts at that point. Also, 770 because of a sale, SSD and 4770k were a gift. I don't really want to pay more than $500 USD. This will be used for gaming often enough, some CAD, but mostly dev/programming. I will partition the SSD with a 50GB linux install because I can

So before I go buy my GPU I want to make myself 100% sure that the card will fit?! My case is a Corsair Carbide 300R and the card I'm buying is the EVGA GTX 770 2GB with ACX Cooling. Will it fit is there anyone who has the same case with that card? Any help is appreciated, Fatal

HELLO LINUS TECH TIPS FORUM! Hi guys and gals of the forum , I am Raptor and I would like to ask a question that has been running in my mind for the past month ... 770 SLI or KEEP 770 and wait for Maxwell/800 Series (880/Ti) Please be honest , all help is appreciated! Thanks! 770 Model:Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 4gb OC Windforce x3 THANKS!

I've become hooked on Linus's videos and decided I'd join the forum, and my first post will be a question of mine! I've been running an HD 6950 2GB for about 3 years now and it's served me very good. The card is still pretty up to date compared to most cards and I've never had trouble with it. I recently replaced my old Phenom II 1055T with an i5 4670 and a Gigabyte B85 motherboard. I didnt have a lot of money but was pretty desperate for a new CPU for the game I mostly play (Starcraft II), and I maybe regret the fact that I didn't save up and got a i5 4670K and a good Z87 board, but what's done is done. I'm going to be playing WildStar in June as well as the game Watch_Dogs that'll be out May 27th, and after 3 years of using this badboy, I kind of want a new card! I can't really afford them at full price and I've been told not to right now, but luckily for me, family members of mine are visiting emigrated family members of mine in the US, so I can buy a GPU off Amazon and get it here in the Netherlands without shipping. I've been looking at mostly the GTX 760. The GTX 760 is $250, that would translate to about €180,-. Is that a good deal? Some tell me it is, while others tell me to wait for the reboot of the GTX 700 series, and even others tell me to wait for Maxwell (GTX 800). Is that a better choice? Buying a 760 now will get me Watch_Dogs for free too but I'm willing to live without that if getting the card now isn't very beneficial! What do you guys think? I really need an upgrade soon because right now my GPU is my bottleneck, but am not sure if it's worth it to buy it now or to wait half a year. Thanks in advance!

So I really wanted my next system to be SLI, and I really wanted to make a system that could run games at high settings and at 120fps so I can take full advantage of my monitor. After hearing all the problems that come with SLI, I get a little disappointed, I would rather have a great 60 fps experience over a bad 120 fps experience with a lot of problems. Basically here is the pros and cons of these 2 options I have: 770s in SLI Pros: -More powerful - I couldn't find a a direct performance comparison between the 780 ti and sli 770s, but I did fine one on sli 760s vs the 780 ti, and the end result was that the 760s performed about 10% more than a single 780 ti, so with 2 770s i would imagine somewhere between a 15% to 25% increase across the board -Bling factor - I can just imagine having 2 of those glowing geforce gtx logos shining in my eyes right now -More Efficient (sort of) - I mean gpu efficiency and in no way power efficiency, but anyway I would imagine running 2 cards in SLI would put less stress on each card than having one card be stressed doing all the work resulting in long life of the cards. -More CUDA - You can never have enough CUDA... right? So for programs that use CUDA acceleration this will be faster than any single gpu solution. Cons: -Less Efficient - Now i'm talking about power, 2 of these would require a minimum of a 750w PSU instead of a 600w min for the 780 ti -Less RAM - The cards are both 2gb so even in SLI its still only 2gb, this doesn't really matter for 1080p games know, but its a good thing to futureproof for -Older GPU(s) - Based off of the GL104, which came out 2 years ago and just got rebranded -Requires Larger Case - With SLI this is a one of the biggest things I hate your limited to atx or bigger, and you can get mATX to work, but if you want good airflow there's only like 3 good 5 slot mATX cases, this also means less room for expansion -Lack of SLI Support - Not every games supports it 780 Ti Pors: -Best Single Gaming GPU - Lets face it the TItan Black isn't a gaming GPU its a workstation GPU that nvidia threw into the GTX line for fun, making the 780 ti the fasted game gpu in the world so performance is closest to an mid range SLI solution -More Efficient GPU - Both power and processing wise, only requires 600w psu, and the gpu is a lot newer than the on in the 770, the GK110 is also used in the titan black so you know you can overclock to achieve close to titan black performance, -Fits anywhere - From Mini ITX cases to the big boys -More RAM - Again another future proofing thing if I have the system for a long time, because games are just getting higher res textures, more particles, advanced physx is getting more advanced so the more ram is going to come in handy. Cons: All of the 770s in SLI reversed So what do you guys think, do you think I can still get buy with a 780 ti? I can still play games on ultra with it obviously I just won't get the 120fps I wanted, but I have so many more options with just a single card, more expansion slots for stuff, more power to play around with. Do you think I should go with my original intention of making a 120 fps rig, or go with a single card and all of its benefits? Always been a single card guy, but I really want a 120 fps experience, but the problems that can come with SLI, the biggest being support for games, aren't worth it if I ever encounter them. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! (Also I don't want to see one post that literally just says "A single powerful card is better than 2 low end ones" I see this all the time, basically post a description, opinion, or suggestion, but I don't want to see this line once! And sorry this thing got so big, I didn't expect it, but I really want my next build to be exactly what I want it to be, so I want your guys opinion on this decision I have to make)

So the main focus of my next build is to get 144hz (FPS) gaming for an ultra smooth experience, while on ultra settings. Also its a budget build so keeping it as cheap as possible at the same time. I knew to do this I would have to go SLI because even a titan black, which is more than 2 770's, can't do 144hz ultra gaming. So I settled on the 770 because it's nvidia's sweet spot card, where it has high end card specs, at closer to a mid range card price, anything lower would not get me the performance I'm looking for, and anything higher I wouldn't be able to afford. So my question is is those who have SLI 770s, or know of their performance, is what I'm aiming for possible? Also when I say ultra, I don't mean ultra, ultra, my idea of ultra is mainly just ultra textures, particles, lighting, effects, and I don't really care about anti-aa, hbao, or basically any unnecessary post effects. From my experience those post effects affect frame rate the most, and most benchmarks online for 770s in SLI are just all the dials cranked up to 11, but thats not what I want to do, so these benchmarks aren't giving me useful info. So again what do you guys think about this setup? Just for those wondering my other specs will be: 2 Reference 770s (mostly for the bling factor), i5-4670k, Gigabyte Z87 SLI supported mobo, and 8gb gskill 1600 ram. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Edit, wow completely forgot to mention a few things: it's only 1080p performance I'm looking for here, for most games I can settle for a min of 120fps, and for cinematic/single player focus games I can settle for anything really above at leaset 90fps, I really just want the performance for competitive games, mostly battlefield and few others.

Which one should I go for? I will be doing a lot of gaming on BF4 and a lot of editing with Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator and Speedgrade. Would I be able to get at least 60fps on high on BF4 with the 760 whilst recording with Dxtory? The 760 is £170 - http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-msi-gtx-760-twin-frozr-gaming-oc-28nm-pcie-30-(x16)-6008mhz-gddr5-gpu-1085mhz-boost-1150mhz-core The 770 is £250 - http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-msi-gtx-770-tf-gaming-pcie-30-(x16)-7010mhz-gddr5-gpu-1098mhz-boost-1150mhz-cores-1536-dport-dvi Edit* - This will be for a new build, not with my current specs. Thanks, Blueprint

I have 2 evga superclocked gtx 660 ti's in sli, and I am wanting better performance all around and not just in games that support sli. I am gaming on a single 1080p monitor. Say theoretically I could get $400(USD) for my 660ti's should I get a GTX770? Or should I wait and save an extra $100-150 for a GTX780? Also I have had nothing but bad luck with graphics cards from amd so I would like to only have nvidia solutions suggested. Thanks ahead of time guys!

First, I reciently built a new rig http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/23mgiv/build_complete_1500_customized_gaming_rig_thanks/ Im using a Asus GTX 770 video card I have been monitoring temperatures like a hawk for the last couple of weeks. and i noticed something really crazy when I supported my video card. http://i.imgur.com/ixQbF0r.jpg I suspended it with some zipties. it was sagging roughly 1/2 inch and I kept looking at it getting scared spite people saying it doesnt matter. Temperatures: before I supported the card, under load for 2-3 hours the gpu was running at temperatures of 80-85 degrees celcius, averaging around 81 (I thought this was very high so I searched around and I see people are having similar results so i didnt think anything of it..) After I supported the card, under load for the same 2-3 hours the GPU was running at 70-75 degrees celcius! averaging around 71 I cant think of any other factors, as the ambient temperatures were the same. time of the day was the same. game was the same. and was playing for the same amounts of time. that is over a 10 degree celcius difference! if it was just a couple of degrees I would of just brushed it off. final question: Do you guys have any experience with this? A supported video card with less stress on the PCI-E slot running cooler? I was thinking about the logic of 2 objects rubbing together, where there is resistance there is heat and when you try to put current through those objects its harder vs with less resistance. edit: subject line "An amazing discovery" ..

Ok I was wondering which graphics card to buy. I'm going to be gaming on a 1080p monitor and I do have a second monitor buy that for watching stuff when u play my games. So should I go with the 780 or 770 and I want to play on all high setting because, I'm like a graphic freak as my friends call me. Or should I wait for the 800 series of desktop graphic cards to come out. I really need your guys opinion b/c I really don't wanta to waste my parents money lol.

So I'm buying a GPU for my system, and I have narrowed it to the GTX 770 and the GTX 780. I can afford both, but with the 780 I will have to cut my SSD and some RAM (but I already have 8GB, so I am fine with waiting) until I can afford it later on down the line. To help me decide, I want to know what the real world performance difference is on 1080P, ultra settings on games like BF4, FarCry 3, Borderlands 2, Metro LL, etc. (Basically the most popular titles ) Would I just be better off just getting the 780 and having the most balls to the walls gaming experience, rather than skimping out now so I can be "done" with my system earlier? The main thing I don't want to run into is buyer's remorse where I wish I had just saved my money for that little bit longer and gotten the 780, rather than rushing and buying the cheaper card.

Unfortunately my 660ti pe caught fire yesterday and i'm looking to get a new card. As much as it was probably my fault for the mosfet to explode I don't think I wan't any more twin frozr coolers in the future. I know that the 280x might be a better option now that the prices are back down but nvidia has caught me with geforce experience so i think i'm gonna get a 770. So far the only one I see that i think is worth getting is the Asus DCU II version. Anyone else recommend this particular product?

I'm looking to complete my build, and the last part I need is a GPU. I was either thinking about getting a GTX 780 or a 2GB or 4GB 770. If I get the 780, then I will have to stick with the stock cooler for a bit on my 4770k until I can afford a better one. If I go with the 770 though, I can afford a better cooler like a Swiftech H220 and get some overclocking going. Is the 780 worth the extra $130 or so and not being able to overclock? I have to run my monitor at 1680x1050, so I can't even do 1080p without everything getting too small to see and inducing eye strain. Or should I just wait for the 880 to come out, and see how the prices drop with the older generation?

So, I currently have a EVGA GTX 770 and I wanted to upgrade. But I don't know what I should do. I wanted to get a 780ti, but I don't know if I should wait for the next gen cards to come out and spend my money on that. What do you guys think?\ My PC: CPU: i5 4670k@4.4 GHz GPU: GTX 770 Motherboard: ASUS Z87-C PSU: Corsair 600w HDD: 1TB WD Black RAM: 8GB Corsair vengeance 1866MHz COOLER: Corsair H60 SSD: 128GB Kingston

Currently I am running an Asus GTX 660 video card, though with the recent acquisition of a summer job, I have been considering upgrading my GPU. As of right now, I am doing absolutely fine and I don't really by and means NEED to upgrade anytime soon, though I am finding I can't max out many newer games (which isn't a huge deal). Essentially, I have been eyeing the GTX 780, though I am unsure if it would be worth upgrading to, with NVIDIA's 800 Series or Maxwell cards potentially just around the corner. What are your thoughts on my situation - Should I just wait it out? Can we even expect the 800 series cards anytime soon? Appreciate any advice you guys have to give!

Hello I am a first time builder looking to create an affordable yet bad-ass gaming system that will SMASH my stupid ps3. I'm am earning all the money myself washing vacuuming and waxing cars (along with other odds and ends work) so my budget is around 1500 and i REALLY don't want to overspend so should i go with the more cost effective 770 or the BEASTLY 780 (for 1080p gaming) Thanks, Jake

My question is simple, which configuration will give me better performance, fps etc.

I offered a friend of mine to build him a midrange 1200€ gaming pc. We are planing to order the parts and build it in about 6 weeks. Currently I am planing the build, picking the parts, etc. I hope you can give me some input on the current selection, what you think I could do different/better. So, he wants to get into pc gaming and has a budget of 1200€ to replace his current 4-year old office computer with a gaming grade system. He already has got keyboard, mouse and monitor, so no need for peripherals, but he wants a copy of win 8.1. It should look sleak and simple, nothing fancy and be relatively quiet. Also he does not want to have his cpu overclocked. Here's what I came up with: CPU: Intel Xeon-E3 1230v3 - as he does not want to oc anyways, why not get the hyperthreading for the same price. MB: AsRock Fatal1ty B85 Killer - should complement the cpu nicely, while keeping the cost down and still getting gaming grade features like the killer nic. RAM: G.Skill Sniper 1866 CL9 2x 4GB - the cheapest quality brand ram I could find with these speeds. Storage: 128GB Crucial M550, 1TB Seagate Barracude - ssd mainly for os and the hdd for games and general storage. Cooling: Noctua NH-U12S, 3x Noctua NF-F12's - simple high performance, low noise 120mm setup. 2 fans for intake, 1 exhaust, all running on low speed. Case: Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl no Window - again keeping everything high quality, simple and quiet. GPU: Asus GTX 770 DCU2 OC 4GB - as he will probably upgrade his monitor soon, he wants to be ready for geater than 1080p resolutions, therefore the 4GB of vram. PSU: Corsair RM550 - again quiet, high quality. OS: Win 8.1 Pro - what's up with the pro version, can it run with more ram like with win7 prof ? I know these are all fairly luxurious parts for a 1200€ build, if you get what I mean with that. I chose these parts, because my main goal is to deliver him a premium experience. Would you rather go for a more basic 4670k, GTX 780 build and compromise some noise and cooling potential or go with this setup. Thanks for your input

Yep, this has been waiting for a while. My review on the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 Gigabyte Windforce 3X OC 2GB. First off, the card itself. It's not amazingly beautiful, but it is by no means ugly. The looks seem to be a love or hate thing, but I am on the wall. It looks more in place in a HAF 932 than in a C70 or Arc Midi R2. Next, some specs. Taken from GPU-Z Now that that's out of the way, let's talk numbers. To be honest, this is not going to be about graphics performance. I can play BF4 at Ultra settings at 1080p very comfortably, in the 60s for FPS. The issue (and the meaning of the title) comes in here. The GPU simply runs hot. It's not GK104. My friend has an EVGA ACX SuperClocked card and it never goes over 65C. But, my Gigabyte Windforce card, of which is advertised as being able to dissipate 450W of heat, is not doing it's job properly. The card actually reached 84C with the stock thermal paste, yet somehow it was fine 2 months prior. I then replaced it with IC Diamond 7. I saw a decrease to 76-78C, which is not bad, but still unimpressive. Overall, it's not a bad card. I will be moving my rig in my basement since the temps are a lot cooler down there, but I don't know what to say for this card. I love it, but it is far from perfect. If I had to give it a rating, it gets a solid 9/10, but I would still recommend an MSI Lightning.
