I recently got a gaming headset and I want to make use of the actual 7.1 sound card I have. Is there any hardware that will make use of true 7.1 output and mix it into something that's just stereo? Of note, I have PX5s for wireless audio, and that gets a 5.1 signal from fiber that comes out of the TV, which get's the audio from HDMI to DVI. The base of it does have a stereo output and uses Dolby inside of it. I'm just wondering if there is something I can use that would make use of the dedicated sound hardware that I own

I've been doing lots of research on the Razer Tiamat and I'm a bit confused on the verdict. Some say that the multiple drivers set a new standard in surround experience while others say they prefer using commercial airline heaphones. I think the people who get bad quality out of them are the ones using a bad sound card. If i paired that with a Xonar Phoebus would I get good sound quality? I don't need anything studio audio quality (I already have seinheissers for music composition) just something that will immerse me in the game. Has anyone tried them with their full potential and say that the heaphones are great for surround? I know the microphone is awful, but I already have a yeti which is alrite for gaming if positioned correctly. I just feel as if having the full thing is better than mimicking it.

Asus Sabertooth Z87 7.1 Surround Sound?
Computing34 posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hey guys, I just have a quick question. Will my Asus Sabertooth Z87 board with Realtek® ALC1150 8-Channel High Definition Audio support the 7.1 surround sound that my Razer Tiamat 7.1 boasts? Or will I have to fork over the hefty price tag for the Asus Xonar Phoebus? I'd like to put that money towards a better monitor. If I need to get a sound card should I get one cheaper than the Phoebus? Also, should I save up for a 1440 monitor and get a regular 1080 one now, or should I get a 1080 now with a good refresh rate? If I wind up going 1440 on this monitor, I would have to get another 780. Should I get this or this 1080 monitor for now?- 4 replies

I'm building a new PC and I though I've earned myself a nice sound card after using on board audio on all of my builds. I'm split between the sound blaster and the xonar dx. Both are advertised for 7.1 surround and gaming. I'll be using the card for watching movies, videos, listening to music, and lots of gaming but only on a pare of stereo headphones, nothing else. I just want the one that has crisper audio, more amplified sound, and best 3d sound. Also good driver support would be nice. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hi, I'm looking to buy a new gaming headset. I'm looking to spent around the $100-$130 US mark and I have some questions: 1. What is the pros/cons of stereo and surround. I get that the drivers would have to be worse on the surround headset due to there being more of them at the same price, but is that sacrifice worth having the ability to pinpoint enemies etc? Bearing in mind I do like sound quality, and I love the nice bassy explosions/gunfire. 2. What headset would you recommend? As I mentioned before, I'd like to use this headset primarily for gaming but I do also use skype and I will be using it to watch Youtube videos. I'm not so much worried about the music quality, although there is a limit. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hey, so I recently bought a new Headset, the Tritton 720+ 7.1 Surround Sound Headset compatible with ps3 and xbox. When I plugged it in it worked properly except the 7. and 5.1 Surround sound, but then I noticed the extra console. I tried to plug it in too, but the sound of my headset is really silent and the 7.1 or 5.1 doesn't work either Also the mic doesn't work properly (even if I put it in the normal 3,5mm jacks) There are two cables, one normal usb port, and one weird looking thing, that i don't recognize... Now I need to know, where do I put the weird looking cable (i attached a photo of it ) and why the surround sound isn't working Thank you for help

Does anyone know if it's at all possible to Jailbreak an iPhone 5 running iOS 7.1.x? My main objective is more to unlock the phone from the carrier that it's currently locked to. I've tried ringing the carrier (T-mobile/EE UK) and they refuse to unlock it because I didn't buy the phone directly through them. I originally got the phone brand new from someone on Amazon, who I can't contact to get them to unlock it. I've heard that if you Jailbreak it you can unlock it manually somehow. But I'm stuck at the part of Jailbreaking, there doesn't seem to be anyone who has proof that the iPhone 5 on iOS 7.1.x+ can be Jailbroken. I know the iPhone 4 can, but no one's even said a hint about the 5. Just wondering if anyone knows if it's possible at all, and if so, how? Cheers.

I'm looking for a quality headset with good sound, base, and quality microphone for pc that's good for gaming, editing, music, movies, YouTube, etc. Budget isn't a huge issue as long as their quality. I've come across many good looking headsets such as the a50s, logitech, turtle beach lineup, but it seems many of the "promising" ones have lots of bugs and issues with them such as I've seen with the a50s that makes me hesitant. I would prefer wireless headphones to avoid having lots of cables to manage but it's not a deal breaker. I would defiantly prefer 7.1 Dolby digital or at least 7.1 surround but 5.1 is ok if it's a trade off. I am aware it's hard for others to determine comfort level for a peticullar headset, but a headset known to be more comfortable in general would be very good. Having a charging stand for the headset would also be a huge plus as it looks much better, more professional, and looks cleaner. Again not a deal breaker but defiantly something I would look for in higher budgets. I very much like the look of the astro a50s but have read some nasty reviews about bugs and problems with them. Such as cutting out, buttons being unresponsive, bad drivers, etc. so if anyone has any experience with them I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Recently my Turtle Beach PX21's broke and I have been looking to get new headsets (with microphones) more catered towards PC gaming. I have been looking around and there's three brands with two models of headsets that I am looking at and was wondering if anybody had any personal experience or any advice to help me make a decision. I have also already done some research and have a some pros and cons for each one (Please correct me if some of my points are wrong.) 1. SteelSeries Siberia v2 for ~$70 PROS: Cheapest, have heard good reviews, headband contorts to shape of your head CONS: Speakers are circular and ears are not which means the top and bottom of my ears will start to hurt from being pressed down, only stereo sound (not that big of a problem, though) 2. SteelSeries Siberia v2 USB w/ USB soundcard for ~$90 PROS: Almost the same as above except also has virtual 7.1 surround sound CONS: Same speaker shape as above and more expensive than above 3. Roccat Kave 5.1 for ~$80 PROS: Real 5.1 surround sound, nice speaker shape to fit the ears nicely. CONS: Heavy, I also read somewhere that to get the full 5.1 sound I would have to invest in a quality sound card which would make it cost more than it needs to. 4. Roccat Kave 5.1 XTD for ~ $170 PROS: More advanced than above CONS: Most expensive, not out yet 5. Asus Vulcan Pro for ~$130 PROS: Noise cancelling, virtual 7.1 surround sound, perfect ear shape, carrying case included CONS: Second most expensive but for better reasons than Roccat Kave 6. Asus Vulcan ANC for ~$100 (not sure about all the differences between the ANC and PRO versions PROS: Noise cancelling CONS: Think it is stereo sound. Any advice is appreciated. All these headsets are on sale so quicker replies would be much appreciated (if there are any other sub-forums this could be posted in let me know). At this point, my preferences are as such: 1. ASUS 2. SteelSeries 3. Roccat Also, what is the SteelSeries Siberia v2 Frost Blue Edition?

Hi! I'm currently trying to find a decent pair of Headphones/Headset that has great bass but still blends well with the highs and the mids. I'm looking into just buying a separate microphone from AntLion's ModMic if there aren't any good headsets that suit my preferences.

Hey guys, Recently, I have been very interested in razer's neon and chroma lines of products due to my obsession with a black and orange themed build. However, I downloaded the razer kraken 7.1 chroma photos from their website and it appears that the razer text on the headband may not be backlit and indeed green! For me this would kill the whole point of the colour LEDs as the idea (at least in my opinion) is that we can match the headset with the rest of our build. At lest give us a plain headband! Anyways, this could just be an inaccuracy of these preproduction renders so I'd be interested in whether you guys think that they will have a headband with a green logo on or not. The image is below. (Note: I scaled the image down to 1080P so that it was small enough to upload) -Billy

I recently bought a headset with a USB soundcard, when using the headset with integrated sound card i feel a better sound quality than with the usb ._. And i wonder if getting the Sound blaster audigy SE 7.1 from creative labs will be a nice upgrade from integrated (of course it will be, but is this a good soundcard? or should i pay a like the double for a ASUS DX 7.1?) I only got available this 2 options, and then some Encore ultra cheap 7.1 Headset: Logitech G430 Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H

So here is my problem, A few days ago I purchased a Kraken 7.1 but I thought I heard a slight hiss every time audio is played. I looked around on the internet and found that other people had the same problem but have no solution. I have tried reinstalling synapse and switching USBs but have had no success. I have contacted Razer but have not yet had a response. And since this is my only functioning headset I am pretty desperate to find a solution. I have a Z87 GD-65 Gaming Motherboard and have windows 8.1 installed if that helps diagnose the problem. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. And please no Rudeness/Sarcasm/Spam.

I just got these razer tiamats and they are very good, i tried a 7.1 movie and games with surround and sounded very well, but when i play stereo music and youtube videos the headset only uses the front speakers(witch makes sense to me because they have mutable drivers) and the front speakers don't have any bass( because there is a separate speaker for that) so i was wondering if anyone knew if there is a software or something that can change stereo sound to surround so it will use all of the speakers. I have tried the 2.1 mode on the controller for the tiamat and that just sounds so horrible that my ears would bleed. Hope someone can help me with this problem btw i have Asus Xonar Phoebus sound card.

I always have been thinking that gaming headsets were perfect to gaming, but after some more research i found out that Heaphones made for music are actually better than thoose gaming headsets. Is that true? My point is that I need help to get a good sound to play games and eventually listen to music while I'm playing. Don't know if it is worth it to get a soundcard, or use a USB headset/Headphone. Please help me out to find a good audio source. My price range is 0-300 in maximum, I actually want something between 100-200. Open to all sugestions! Thanks a lot!

Hi! I'm going to get a headphone soon, and I have been wondering of which one.. the top of the list is the Razer Tiamat 7.1, after that comes Tritton Warhead 7.1 (virtual sorround 7.1, with Dolby Headphone and Pro Logic II) I have such a problem to choose which one! I really rely on Razer but soooo many people recommends Pro Logic... BTW, what is SRS and is it a better choice? if you have another headphone to recommend, please write it. another BTW, I want the headset to look cool, kinda resembling the two on my list. Please help me!

Is there such thing as a 7.1 audio DAC? Or would a sound card be better and if so what would a good one for a gamer be that is relatively cheap. Gonna use the Razer Tiamat as my headphones also no speakers yet.
-
So I want to get Tiamat 7.1 but am unsure of what sound card to pair it with. I'm thinking either Xonar Phoebus, Xonar Essance STX, or Sound Blaster Z. I'm also going to be hooking up Sound Stick III. Any thoughts? (I've heard the latest drivers for the phoeus are absolute crap)

Hey guys, I got my Razer Kraken 7.1 a few weeks ago since I wanted decent v-surround, a good mic and a USB-soundcard since I'm stuck with some onboard-crap. Well they were just as painfull to my ears after 1-2 hours of wearing them as any other closed headset that I tried (e.g. Roccat Kave 5.1, Creative Soundblaster Rage USB). I used a Sennheiser PC166 until now, also USB, but it got a little messy and I wanted a closed one. The only thing with the Kraken is that it doesnt hurt right away like the other ones, but just after those hours of use because the earpads get pushed in and let the speakers push against my ears. So I tried bending it a little and putting it under pressure for some time so it would break in but that was no success. I also like the mic on the Kraken (although my Sennheiser still was better) and I can live with the bassy sound of Razer audio-products (still prefer decent balance). I'm not that much of a fan of the idea of good headphones and a clip-on-mic, weither it's on the cable or the headphones, so I want to know the following: Do you have any idea how I could "boost" the earpads on the Kraken so they don't get pushed in so easily? I mean Linus wears them on the WAN-show almost every time and doesn't complain about pain on the ears. I already searched for replacements for the earpads themselfes but I couldn't find any and the Razer support also turned me down. Unfortunately it's too late for me to return them so I have to stick with them (gave them too much time to hopefully break in - big mistake). I will think about a way to get a decent soundcard (tending to ASUS Xonar DX 7.1) and maybe a Sennheiser PC360 with it but until then it will take some time. Thanks in advance! Kind regards, Trek

I am building a PC on a budget of about $2000 and I was wondering about the quality of this motherboards built in audio. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asrock-motherboard-z87professional Also if you think I can get better for relatively cheap, about less than 50 bucks or so then what is your suggestion? I will be using a Razer Timat headset is this is needed information.
