I got the Asus ROG Strix Z370-F for my recent build, which states 7.1 support on its product pages. It wasn't until I had the build completed that I realized my Razer Tiamat 7.1 headset doesn't work properly, because the mobo is missing the blue "side surround" jacks. Realtek Audio Console doesn't seem to be able to remap Line-in to Side Surround, either. Why would they exclude this feature from a mid-tier gaming mobo?? Is there a way to fix this issue without purchasing a dedicated sound card? -
Hello, I am looking on the market for a -gaming- wireless headphones with 7.1 surround sound (for fps games). I don't need a mic as I am getting a blue yeti. I want them to last a long time so I would prefer a durable one. I am willing to spend upwards of ~$300. Audio quality and the materials it is made out of are very important to me. Does anyone have any suggestions?

So the Asus Strix Soar is a pcie sound card that delivers 7.1 surround sound and is also a 600 ohm headphone amp. So if I plugged in a pair of beyerdynamic 600 ohm headphones, will I be able to have 7.1 come through as well?

Hello I want tu buy a soundcard for Surround Sound. But im wondering if you can actually notice a difference between Virtual 5.1 vs Virtual 7.1 Surround? Is it more marketing than anything else, or is it noticable? Thanks!

So I just ordered the Logitech G933 last night. upgrading from the G430. I've always had a hard time picking the right headset, either too tight and painful, too loose and falls off too easily, or sound quality is poor. The g430 were great, but weren't very loud, and i often find myself having to boost my audio in VLC. Has anyone use the G933? whats you opinon on them, i got them on sale for 175$ so im hoping it will be worth it, as i can multi task with them, ie use them on PC and ps4 at the same. also the option to go wireless is also very nice, as its a choice, so im not stuck being tethered, which was getting to be an issue for me with the 430. it has inline volume on the cord, and is kinda heavy, so everytime i would move or stand up it would go flying. pretty sure i damaged it as it sounds off now when i adjust the volume with it. so id like to hear what your fav surround DTS cert headset is.

I want to use a mixer, which will have my consoles, my pc, and my mic plugged into it because I want everything in it to use for streaming. I also want to buy the razer tiamat 7.1v2 for the true 7.1 surround sound to use for competitive games. So if I just use some splitters (one way going to the mixer and the others that the tiamat would use going to the tiamat at the actual sound connectors from the motherboard) will it still give me all the sound in all of the drivers for the tiamat and will it sound as good as if it wasn't going two ways because of the splitters?

Hi guys, I need your advice, I'm about to buy a new headset mostly to watch movies and music mostly and for gaming ( pc and ps4, so it needs to be compatible with ps4 and needs to have a mic), the headset needs to connect to my tv and my android box to see the movies ( maybe trough usb?) and also I dont know if the 7.1 virtual surround is worth it. My price limit is 200 $, I saw some reviews and search through forums and two of them caught my attention ( Steelseries Arctis 7 and Hyperx Cloud flight), the arctis 7 sounds nice but on the ps4 the 7.1 is not compatible and it lacks some Bass aparently, the Hyperx cloud flight sounds awesome in every aspects but doenst have 7.1. Do you guys have other options ? Is it really worth to go for the 7.1 sound? because I want to get a good quality audio mostly on movies. Thanks in advance.

I am going to be moving into an apartment and I have a fairly nice (in my opinion) 5.1 surround sound speaker setup that is attached to my computer. In the apartment my computer is going to be in another room. My existing speakers use the 4 3.5mm speaker connections(left, Middle, Right, Main, Sub-woofer). Is there a device that I can connect those connections to, similar to a google audio chromecast that will utilize all those channels? Or is it wishful thinking? -
Hi guys So I'm upgrading my setup and I'm going with the Corsair Ecosystem. So I recently purchased the Corsair Void RGB PRO Wireless headset and this is a recommendation, If you currently don't have a surround sound headset, go out and buy one. The surround sound on these are crazy. I cannot go back to normal stereo sound now. I play games, listen to music, and watch YouTube videos all in surround sound mode. Guys, Surround sound ups your experience with audio and I highly recommend you get yourself a headset capable of surround sound like the Corsair VOID RGB PRO Wireless with is Dolby 7.1 surround sound. You dont know what you are missing out on. Everything sounds like you are in the room that the audio is coming from. Audio is much clearer and has life. I am amazed at this. You really need to get a headset capable of surround sound. Have a great day/night

Hello everyone. I am having some issues with my Razer kraken 7.1s they keep disconnecting and sometimes recconecting, they work for a little while and then just turn off. I hear "kaboonk" sound when they shut off and the leds turn off to... I have them plugged into my front io. I have the newest Synapse drivers and have tried to reinstall, also i am using Windows 10 pro 64 bit. Does anyone know a fix or are my headphones not usable anymore.

Greetings. My steel series headphones broke after many years of use, (rip) so I decided to take the plunge in getting some high quality headphones. I tried one of my friends senheiser's gaming headset and I thought they were quite nice. It was more similar to actual surround sound than expected. These particular pair plugged into a USB dongle creating a surround sound like environment. Neat stuff. I was more or less convinced in getting senheiser's, just wasn't sure what kind. After doing a little searching around I heard of the 600 series everywhere. These headphone were God tier for 13 years. I saw nothing but praise for the HD 650's, for around $250 off ebay I decided to buy them. I had no headphones and I had the money. Got them today, So far, I'm a little underwhelmed. I'm a complete noob to all this stuff. So bare with me. Time for noob questions. -Are these headphones "7.1 surround sound"? -What does an amp do for me other than volume? I can already get these headphones ear bleeding loud. -It it possible to get similar surround sound experience to gaming headphones, without using virtual surround sound? That or better? -Do you lose quality if you don't use a 6.5mm jack? Just curious. -Am I wearing them wrong? Why did people say these were comfortable? They're tight and kinda hurt my bottom jaw. -I used Realtek Audio Manager to test audio channels in 7.1. They all rang out expect the "subwoofer". Is that normal? (idk if a picture helps but there ya go) -Does an actual test exist to show if I setup them up correctly? The "virtual barber shop" on YouTube is not a test, as they sound the "same" with any pair of stereo headphones.People actually recommended this for a test. Maybe I missed their point, I certainly didn't see it. -Is their any purpose to buy a TRUE 7.1 headset for gaming when most games use their own built-in surround engine? It's nearly impossible not to have virtual surround sound in some way, so why not just get a good pair of stereo headphones call it a day? Is it all just marketing BS? -What setup would you recommend for gaming with the HD 650's? (I appreciate 1st hand experience.) -What setup would you recommend for music with a higher bass/rock? Yes, I know these cans are weak on bass. Just curious if there was a way. (fyi ^all the above questions are serious. If your advice is to buy a different pair of headphones you couldn't be any more useless. The topic is about making the HD 650's work for my purposes. You're clear gone if you say buy better headphones.) Even if they headphones might not be the best for gaming, I do listen to music regularly so if they can do that well, I will be satisfied. Hi Linus. Can you help me? I went to post on an old threat about your A50 but it said to post a new one as was quite old. I bought the Astro A50 yesterday and I know they need Dolby Digial Live 7.1 to work. I have an ASUS Maximum Hero IX Z270 board which doesn't have this, just the on board Supreme FX chip. How do I get this to work - or do I have to buy a separate sound card for this and if so, what would you recommend just so I can take advantage of the A50 7.1 / best possible sound? As pictured, the supreme FX doesn't recognise the A50 whether plugged in via USB or optical. The sonic studio 3 does show it and I can get audio, but its just going to be the stereo and not the DDL 7.1 Thank you

Hello, i am building new computer and at first i was looking at intel i7 7700k and MSI z270 SLI plus but decided to go with 8700k and MSI Z370 SLI PLUS At first i could not decide if i should go with 7700k or 8700k because 7700k has higher clock speed and less cores and 8700k has more cores but lower clock speed, but when i saw that 8700k can be overclocked to 5GHZ i decided to go with it Now my problem is i have Razer Tiamat 7.1 V2 (real 7.1) and it has 4 3.5mm connectors (front, side, rear and center/sub) but new z370 motherboards only have 3 3,5mm outputs (front, rear and center/sub) so that means if i buy 8700k and z370 mobo i wont be able to use all channels of my razer tiamat 7.1 v2 I also checked out some Asus Z370 mobos and all have only 3 3,5mm outputs and i need 4 for my headset, i then looked at older z270 motherboards (for example MSI Z270 SLI PLUS) and all Z270 motherboards that i found have 4 outputs and Z370 all have 3 outputs (instade of 4th output on Z370 there is optical out) I was then looking at new Sound BlasterX AE-5 but unfortunately it only supports real (discrete) 5.1 and 7.1 is virtual Here are pictures of motherboard audio connectors MSI Z370 SLI PRO ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING MSI Z270 SLI PRO Razer Tiamat 7.1 v2 contectors (This is picture for v1 but conectors on v1 and v2 are same) Does anyone have any solution to this, maybe someone here knows some Z370 mobo that has all outputs that i need, also it needs to support SLI and be big enough to put two Zotac GTX 1080 TI AMP EXTREME EDITION in SLI Please of possible help me with this, thanks in advance Also, i apologize for my bad English and bad writing but i am really upset with this problem right now and writing might be a bit bad -
I got these headphones pretty recently. The box it came with stated 7.1 SURROUND SOUND. I was pretty excited because i believed in would give me a higher level of immersity and/or better performance in multiplayer games. When i plugged it in and started playing overwatch however, I was pretty disappointed. The stereo did not work. I thought this was only for overwatch so i tried it on shadow warrior. Same result. I tried it on other games like csgo and borderlands, but it didn't work. I installed the headphone's little program which allows me to toggle surround sound on and off and it was on but i still didnt get the surround sound feel. Whenever i play it feels like only one side of the headphone is working. Is it a problem with the headphones or my laptop? How do i fix this problem?

So I'm trying to find a gaming headset that works on Xbox AND PC. Price $150-300 in the US. Not a fan of turtle beaches, corsair, or razor. If anyone can recommend some they have used and even give a review, it would be much appreciated

Hi, I'm looking for recommendations for a surround sound (5.1/7.1) speaker setup that I can fit in a roughly 11ft. by 11 ft. (3.3 by 3.3 meters) space. Volume isn't a huge priority due to the size of the space so sound quality should take priority. Neutral-ish sound preferred, a little bit of extra bass is ok. Budget is preferably under $300 USD, but flexible. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

As the title says, I'm looking for an alternative to the Sennheiser GSX 1000, an dac/amp combo with 7.1 surround sound support, since it likely wont be good enough to drive my headphones (HD660s), or atleast only up to 103 db spl. Im not interested in sound cards and it's also not important to me wether the dac would have a microphone input. Any recommandations?

I've recently got a Razer Tiamat 7.1 (A 7.1 analog surround sound headset with 10 drivers) and the 7.1 was working good as it should but I read on a few forums that it could sound a lot better with a dedicated sound card so I went into Maplin and got a Creative sound blaster Z, I told a staff member i wanted an internal sound card capable of 7.1 for my headset so they recommended a Creative sound blaster Z so i bought one. But when i installed it and plugged it in it is only recognizing 5.1 (so all but the side speakers). I can't find a way to use it with 7.1 and upon googled it, it says its a 5.1 sound card. Im looking for both speaker settings for the surround sound and equalizer settings. i mainly play rust, and similar games and mostly listen to lil wayne and kanye west. im trying to find the clearest but best listening experience. im terrible at finding it, tried for hours but cant find it haha thanks! p.s. ill try anything you can give me!

Hi guys, I'm looking for the best 7.1 as real as possible headset for gaming. I want to be able to clearly determine the location of the objects in game, is it above me ? below me ? right front ? right rear ? every location which can be determined by audio is important. P.S I'm currently using Razer Tiamat 2.2 headset which I do not like.

Hey guys, I have been using the hyper x cloud 2's for around 4 weeks now and I must say they aren't too bad. The main problem I have with them is that the directional sound is awful. Would getting a sound card such as the asus Xonar DSX improve the directional sound? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-Xonar-Express-Sound-Card/dp/B007PTJNBQ I play alot of games such as CSGO and the ARMA series and I find it extremely hard locating players with just sound alone. I have a predator 15 laptop from acer, and I have turtle beach i 60. I've been trying to "test" the 7.1 surround for I long time and I didn't succeed, I searched a lot in the internet and apparently the information about the 7.1 are too scarce, so I came here hoping to find the answers. the stereo works well, but when I try to "test" the 7.1 surround in the speakers configuration I get this message ("failed to play test tone"). so, I wish to know the source of my problem, is it from my laptop itself? or my headphones? or a mistake I did? I have no Idea if my laptop even support the 7.1 surround, I wish to know how do I make sure it does too... I'm not a tech savvy, so please take it slowly on me.

The top selling soundcard on amazon (link below) has two variants, one being "7.1 channel" which costs over twice as much as the "5.1 channel" one. What does this mean?? Is it possible to plug stereo headphones into the 5.1 channel variant, and run 7.1 virtual surround sound software like Razer Surround?? How does this work and is it worth twice the value to buy the 7.1 variant??
