Im setting up a server with a non-modular power supply. It has a 6+2 GPU cable which I'd like to use to power sata Google search hasn't provided much, anyone have any idea what this adaptor might be called? I have 3 options 6pin to 5pin (5x1) or 6pin (2x3) or sata 15pin So the adptor needs to be female 6pin to female 5pin / 6 pin / 15 pin sata

Ok so I am getting an RTX 3060 and I was looking at this: https://www.amazon.com.au/Gigabyte-GeForce-3060-Gaming-GV-N3060GAMING-OC-12GD-2-0/dp/B0971BG25M/ref=sr_1_5?crid=1PE1VRBK95OLL&keywords=3060&qid=1664849930&qu=eyJxc2MiOiI0LjYwIiwicXNhIjoiMy44NiIsInFzcCI6IjMuMTQifQ%3D%3D&s=electronics&sprefix=30%2Celectronics%2C311&sr=1-5 But it has come to my attention that the RTX 3060 is rated for 170w and can spike up to 200w, However Gigabyte and all the other GPU brands decided to make it a single 8Pin PCIe connector from the PSU despite it being rated for only 150w, How does this make sense? I read that the motherboard PCIe slot can provide up to 75w but is it fine to use that or should I get a premium (Strix or AORUS) and pay $100-$150 more to get an extra 6Pin connector, or is 8Pin enough? I would probably get this if I needed to get the 8+6 Pin power https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/graphics-cards/nvidia/90375-gv-n3060aorus-e-12gd-r2.0/exdemo do you all think this would work? One other thing that doesnt matter as much but is still relevent I beleive is that I am also getting Lian Li 2*8pin strimmer cables so it would look better with the 8+6 connecter rather than just 8 -
Hi everyone, after a long time of running a gt710 I finally have the opportunity to upgrade to a GTX760. However, I have noticed that my PSU has only 2 extra molex connectors, and the GPU has one 6-pin and one 8-pin connectors. Would it be possible to run just the 6-pin, and leave the 8-pin unpopulated? Alternatively, could I run a 6-pin and an 8pin adapter off just 2 molex? I should note that I don't have the GPU yet, I've got an opportunity to buy it though. -
So basically what the computer does when i try to start it with the pcie connector plugged in is that the power light turns on but nothing happens, no fans spinning anywhere, hard drive not starting. Only power led comes on. When the 6 pin pcie connector isnt plugged in the computer starts as normal and demands me to connect the pcie connector. I'm suspecting a short, but how would i fix this and at what point might the short be happening? I have tried the gpu in question with multiple psu:s and motherboards. system specs (if it matters): ASUS GTX 660 2GB (the smallest one) fujitsu lga775 motherboard q9400 stock clocks and voltages 500gb hdd 8 gigs of samsung ddr3 1333mhz 300 watt liteon psu also tested with: asrock p67 extreme6 board and an xfx550 watt psu acer h61 board and 650 watt psu asus z170 pro gaming and corsair rmx750w psu (same results with everything) -
Would a 6+2 pin connector fit in a 6 pin gpu also what pin connector is the biostar rx 560

Hello guys, I have a following fan -> DC Brushless PFM1412DE-SP02 (couldn't find any spec sheets online) which I'd like to use / control using PWM signal. The problem is that the fan has 6 wires and I'm not really sure how to control it. 2 are red, 2 black, 1 blue and 1 yellow. I know that the blue one is for PWM signal, yellow reports the RPM, just not sure about the double red and blacks, if maybe one set of them is supposed to be used differently .. So far I've been using it with this PWN "controller" but the problem is that I cannot get my fan to run at low RPM's. I connected two reds together, as well as two black wires (to have 2, instead of 4) to this PWM motor controller and can only get it to run at what I'd say is 60% of the RPM. If I lower the duty cycle on the knob, at some point it just stops, the RPM's don't go down enough. I assume this is due to the frequency -> no fan spec sheet = guessing the frequency. I ordered this PWM signal generator the other day (it didn't arrive yet) to try and figure out PWM frequency for my fan. My concern is.. the wiring. Should it be connected like this? I'd appreciate your suggestions & tips! Thanks

My Dad has been bugging me for a long time to get him different computer, his current DDR2 era one is terrible, the GPU is dying and just a few too many open Chrome browsers bring the tower to a crawl. Running anything besides Runescape at 720p/lowest settings is out of the question. So for his birthday this year I scored a great deal on a used HP Elitedesk 800 G2 TWR. It's got the standard 280w 80 Plus Platinum PSU, an i5 6500, 16GB of RAM, 120GB SSD for the OS, and a 1TB HDD. Runs great and looks pretty clean. It's just waiting for a graphics card. I've been reading all the forum posts about it and have watched far too many videos. As it stands the best that it will normally accommodate is the GTX 1650, however it's very tempting to order the best quality sata to 6pin adapter I can find and go with a 1650 Super. I know there's a lot of stigma and risk surrounding using adapters for GPUs (with due reason) and I know the sata is only rated at about 50w, but the card is only 100 TDP, just 25 more watts than it's older, slower brother. It seems that many people are trying to use the adapters for GPUs that have a much higher TDP (120-180w), and that trying to push it that far could certainly be a cause for concern. Is it asking too much for it to help run the Super? How much of the maximum 75W will the PCIE slot actually provide? It's hard to ignore the performance difference for only 10-20$ more, but is it worth the risk? In case it matters, my sata power cables from the PSU are 20AWG.

hey there i was bought an hp g1 800 with intel i5 4670 cpu and a hp 8200 with a i5 2500 cpu. fairly basic stuff as u expected. but there is a problem is i know the 6 ping pciE like plug into mother board and flat 6 ping that is for power good and ps on with 2 fan control and 2 com pins. i've maked the adaptor but i cant found a reliable way to trick mother board to not to give me fan error. i saw some people put a wire to green wire on cpu fan but its too messy and i dont like to do that. moddiy do that with a single wire but i'm scared to do that cause my 8200 died cause i accidentally short the sense fan to 12 volt and i sent it to get fixed i hope so. i will be appreciate that to help me out to short fan sense wire to which wire on standard psu just like moddiy modded cable do that. cause purchasing that is impossible for me as they not sent into my country and there is no similar products to buy them. thanks very much.

Hey guys! I just bought an 5700xt rog strix oc, but I didnt check what the PCI pin connector requirements were. I looked at a few and I think they had 1 x 8 pin and 1 x 6 pin connectors. Anyway this one has 2 x 8 pin connectors but my old psu only has 1, and 1 6 pin. Im thinking about buying an adapter for 6 to 8 pin tomorrow but im not sure if my psu Will be up to the task, and if the card Will run if i do. My specs are: ryzen 3600x rog strix b450 gaming f 16gb Ddr4 3200mhz ram 2xssd 1x7200rpm hdd Xfx pro 550w psu (85 rated i think) upgraded from 1060 6gb MSI gaming x to 5700 xt rog strix (not tested yet, due to no adapter) sorry if this is a bad post or posted on wrong Page (im new here)

Hi all. I have an old PSU, the Enermax Liberty 620w. I had no problems until now and it performs as it should. Recently i bought a new GPU card, the AMD R9 390. The problem is that the card requires 2 x 8 pin connectors and my PSU only has 2 x 6 pin and 6 x 5 pin (check attached picture 1). There is a cable that uses one 6pin and 1 5pin to convert it into 8 pin (check picture 2) but there is no second for the other GPU socket. I used an adapter that uses 2 molex cables to give an 8pin and i used 2 seperate cables for each molex (see picture 3). So my card now uses 4 sockets (1 red and 3 black) Everything seems to work well and the games are running perfectly. My question is: Is this ok or it is potentially unsafe? Thanks

So I finally upgraded my GTX 1050 to a GTX 1660 but sadly it requires an 8pin power connector and my psu only has a 6pin. I heard some people were able to get this card running with a 6pin power connector considering it only uses 120 watts of power. So will this work? I'm only playing games at 1366x768p resolution (less load on the GPU). Thanks in advance. So, this isn't my computer this is my boyfriends. last night he accidentally spilt his drink on his desk only a little of it actually touching his pc but it didn't get into his pc just the front so that was an easy cleanup. boyfriend left for work so I go ton his computer to play VR for a bit but before I could even make it to steam both of his monitors shut off and give me the "Please power down and connect the PCIe power cable for this graphics card" now I know a little bit about pcs. so correct me if I'm wrong. I just have no idea what happened plus I hadn't knocked into it to make the cables come undone. I'm just too scared to get in there and try and look at it. -

I decided to replace my GTX 960 Mini with a GTX 1070. The product page for my PC says I have a 600 W PSU but I can only see 1 6-pin connector that's connected to my current card. See image: I read that such adapter is not recommended. So do I need a new PSU? Hello folks! Hope yous all having a great day So I got that GTX 1050ti here, and it has a pcie 6pin connector on it (shocking I now, for a 75w TDP card). And so my question is, if I plan on running it at stock frequency, no OC whatsoever, could I possibly not plug this 6 pin? What would happen? I'd rather ask before blowing anything up! Thanks people

I have a 6pin2Molex adapter and the molex head is male,so are the ones on my PSU(non modular of course).So I was wondering if I could cut both the molex heads off and connect and isolate the bare wires for my RX 560(yes it is the one that needs a 6pin)

Hi. I purchased recently silentium m35t case. Its got its own fan controller (4x 3pin PWM connector and 4x 6pin connector like in some rgb fans). The problem is that i`ve got 6x 3pin PWM fans so I cant connect them all. There was adapter included with the case (img added) to change 3pin to 6pin (only 2 wires but it works). But I need a 2nd one. Anyone knows where to search for it? Or what is the name for the 6pin connector? I cant find it anywhere.

im a budget gamer, this week im going to be buying an HD 7870 XT club 3d graphics card, that card needs 2 6 pin pcie power connectors. i have them on my psu(coolermaster real power M520) the corsair cables are very stiff and i dont think im going to be able to bend them considering i have a tempered glass side panel, so i was looking for options, i dont want those extensions because i cant hide my long 6pin pci connector then. i found this https://www.moddiy.com/products/6%2dPin-Graphics-Card-PCIe-Male-Header-Connector-%2d-90%-Angled-%2d-Black.html but they say you're supposed to solder them on your gpu. im not gonna do that because i dont have the tools nor skill to do that. but still, cant i just plug them into the 6pin on my gpu and they'll work? please help me. Hello lads. I 've got an overclocked Windforce r9 290, which i watercooled, overclocked, overused, over-everything, and eventually used for a little bit of mining. Apparently something had to give after stressing it so much The 8pin connector overheated and melt inside the GPU's respectable connector. The plastic didn't stick or anything, i was able to remove what was left inside with a toothpick, but the thing is that the board's pins are charred, thus not making good contact with the (new) 8pin i'm using. edit: The 6pin also seems charred. And only the power pins are like this, the ground ones seem to be brand new Does anyone know how i can clean them? I tried using alcohol, toothpicks, cloths, cotton buds, a gospel or two, but nothing seems to work. Ideally i'd like to remove the plastic receptacle from the gfx, clean the pins with very fine sanding paper, and reinstall the plastic. But how do i do that without causing any damage?

hi, i've got a 1060 (6gb) since today and i installed it with a 260 watt psu running system i use and another psu of 350 watt only for the gpu i use a 2x sata to 6 pin adapter with it (and each sata connecter is connected to a standalone cable from the psu) but it underperforms like: it does use a maximum of 20 % or something like that of its total performance (source: afterburner) could it be that the 350 watt psu doesnt deliver enough wattage thru the sata connectors? i already deleted all the graphics drivers and reinstalled the most recent one and its in the first pcie x 16 lane (its the pny 1060 6gb)

So I wanna buy a gtx 1060 that has a 6pin power connection but my psu is old and I have only 2 flat 4pin connectors available. The card ships with a 1 8pin to 2 6pin power connectors adapter (the evga 1060 6gb) Will it work? If not what might? For clarification these r the cable I have... There r those 2 other attachments at the endings - the black one used to be connected to the optical drive...
