So basically my friend wants a PC for school work and light gaming but in a few months he will be getting a bit more money and then wants to start streaming. So my idea was to have a weird build that he could just open up, drop in a 3600x and a 5700xt and not have to worry about anything except cooling (which he is considering getting something like the dark rock pro when he has the money). Anyway this was the build i threw together and was wondering if it is decent, i build it while keeping in mind he dosn't want to spend to much money on the main components (CPU and GPU) which would just go to waste when he gets the better parts. Here is what i have come up with - https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Tech_Void/saved/#view=xT49GX There is a weird thing with the memory, but he wants to get everything from amazon (since he has prime,it has decent return policy, ect) and it just didn't work so i entered my own price (the exact price from amazon at the time). Thank you for reading this.

I'm planning for my first PC build but I'm kinda torn between which GPU to get. Radeon 5700XT or RTX 2070 Super Any suggestions? Which one has better price to performance?

I am an upcoming artist who will be doing 2D art and 3D modelling to some extent at first. Currently I am planning for my new PC build after 8 years of using i7 2600k, P67X board, 8GB ram, and previously GTX680, after burndown some years ago, and then recent death, I am running a loaned GTX960 for now. First thing to buy is a video card, but overall plan is to get Ryzen 3700X and wait for X570 budget boards in late 2019 and early 2020 (called around X540 or something), and getting an 32GB RAM for what I want to do. But, about the topic, the graphics card, seeing that I will be doing half workstation half gaming, I can't decide which one to take, mostly between 2070S and 5700XT. I know the nvidia has quite the software support for artists, but I have no idea about whether 5700XT has any, if 5700XT has, then I would take that one, how well it renders and processes things vs 2070 and 2070S. I am kind of trying not to spend a lot, but then again, I want to have an investment for future, and that sweet-spot is quite disturbing here, this a stupid and hard decision to make, especially when one has been around for a year, and the other only just now released, but whether or not AMD will have the drivers for RDNA for artists or not is a question that remains to me. I want to know, as an artist, which one I should pick as I am a gamer and planning to become a professional artist within videogame industry doing concept and environment art, it involves Krita and heavy Photoshop usage, as well as possibly to some extent 3D programs, such as Blender 2.80 and possibly Maya, etc. Is anyone experienced in these similar fields and could recommend one over the other with argumented reasons? I really need to be sure that I pick a right one (considering that my income is not yet stable enough to be sure of what I buy), even if 2070 is costlier than other two, cheapest I found is 548 Euro's, while I found regular 2070 for ~447 Euro's, and 5700XT for around ~480-500 Euro's, basically in the middle of both nvidia cards. If 2070 Super is recommended, then that's the max price I am willing to pay if it's a Super, the other two are like...whether 5700XT has anything to offer for artists. Of course I will get the partner card, currently looking at XFX THICC 2 that I like, but I have no idea about the noise and temperatures under load etc. Thank you in advance.

Hi, Im thinking of getting Asus Tuf Rx 5700xt but i cant find a single review, anyone bought it or knows how it performs, cooling, acoustics... etc also my friend told me that it doesnt have 0db function meaning that fans will be spinning all time!

I'm doing a new build for a friend and everything was great until I went to install the display drivers for the 5700xt. I've tried different versions of the driver but each time, it makes the monitor go into an "entering power save mode" loop. Any ideas? I'm lost

I just built my first PC last week with a Sapphire 5700 and it ran perfectly fine. I returned it for Gigabyte 5700xt (three fans). Since I've been using it I've been having problems getting games to run. I MSI Afterburner'd the 5700xt. I brought the core clock to 2150 and memory clock to 950 and the PC would restart itself while in game after a few minutes. So I brought the core and memory down to 2050 and 850 and it stopped restarting in game, but now games stutters. I thought it was the driver's so I tried to delete the old 5700 drivers and redownload my 5700xt drivers, but they're still stuttering. An suggestions?

Hi all I was pondering a new GPU and I like a little bit of 1440p 60hz and a lot of 1080p 144hz. My question is do I go for a high end 5700 or a low end 5700xt, in the UK they retail about the same cost. Any Thoughts

Debating on what parts to buy since AMD launch
JoostVisser posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
For the past year or two I've been saving up for a new computer. I've been updating my parts list all the time and until the Ryzen 3000 and Navi reviews I've had my eye on the i5 9600k and the RTX 2060 Super. My budget is around €1500 with a hard limit of €1600, meaning I won't go even €0,01 over €1600. I know I can get better performing parts for that money but I'd like to spend a little more money on quality parts rather than going for pure performance. Now that AMD has launched their new products I'm not really sure what to buy anymore. Note: All the prices mentioned below include tax, my budget does too. The webshop I want to buy my parts on is https://azerty.nl, the only decent IT hardware store I know of in The Netherlands, which is where I live. CPU First: The 3600X currently selling on Azerty for €269,00 and the 9600k for €235,05. Here are this things I'm considering when debating what CPU to buy: - Both will probably perform fine, but which one will age better? - The 9600k is well known for being able to overclock to 5GHz, is it worth it? - If I go for the 3600X, do I go for X570 or X470? - I'm currently not really considering streaming, but if I want to do that in the future, the 3600X will probably be better for that. - How good is the 3600X with overclocking? - Should I even consider overclocking? - According to the Tech Deals 3600X review, the 3600X performs basically the same as an 8700k, but is it still faster compared to a 5GHz overclocked 9600k? GPU next: The 5700XT is going for €498,84 (reference card) and the 2060 super is not yet being sold but the suggested retail price where I live is €424, Azerty will probably be a little above that. Here's what I'm considering: - Same as CPU, which one will age better? - I'm currently gaming on a 1080p monitor, but I'm considering a 1440p monitor in the future. - Do I want RTX capabilities? - I want an AIB card, so for the 5700XT I would have to wait a little longer for those. - Some 2060's have an USB-C port, which makes VR (which I want to buy in the future) a lot easier according to some people. - According to most reviews, the 5700X performs in between the 2060 Super and the 2070 Super. I will be adding bullet points in the future as I think of more things to consider, but what do you think is the best option for me? Do you think there are other things I need to consider? Any advise is much appreciated. Thanks! -
Hey guys, So I've had my 5700XT since December and for the most part I've actually been fortunate enough not to have many issues with it. One issue I have had and I don't really know why is that if I go to graphics settings on BFV and switch DX12 on and then restart the game to apply the changes the game simply won't start. It will stay on the black screen with the BFV loading symbol and will stay stuck there the whole time. I haven't had any issues with other games I play such as DotA2 and Project Cars 2. Any idea why this might be or how it can be fixed? It's not a big issue because I can still play BFV I was just wondering if switching to DX12 would improve the graphics - with DX11 I haven't had any issues at all. All help appreciated! Thanks! drivers: 20.2.2

So I'm in the market for a new GPU, and am eyeing the $450-$500 range. At this range there are mainly 3 cards in the market, the 2070super, 5700XT and the 1080ti in the used market. Which of these cards would be best value for money?. I know the 1080Ti is quite old now but it still performs admirably and performs as good as a 2080, but will that still hold 2 years from now? or should I go for the more recent offerings just for future-proofing? I have a 2700X paired with 16GB Of Ram. Currently I'm using a GTX 970. Looking to play at 1440P, maybe sometimes crank it up to 4k just for the fun of it.

I was just wondering if the 5700 xt is going to be getting non blower versions because i've heard it runs really hot with its current fan. All the third party cards i find on Newegg are blower fans with the same mould as the og 5700 xt

I am going to build a gaming / workstation pc. I am using a 3700x, x570 Aorus wifi pro, 750 watt psu, g skill 3600 MHz and a 970 evo 250 GB ssd, and a 2 TB HHD. However I was wondering if the 5700xt will be good for modelling, rendering, and streaming. Should I go for the 5700xt or get a radeon vii, rtx 2080 or some other card of that caliber? No one out there seems to have benchmarks for this stuff. If any of you could help me with this or suggest I change my build please let me know. Thank you

So depth used to run fine on my R9 390, i upgraded to a 5700xt today and booted into depth, only to find massive lag spikes at the exact same settings, stutter, etc. My timespy score looks good, i used ddu initially, and then a second time used AMD's own cleanup utility in safe mode. But the performance is still not where it should be compared to my 390 in some games, in other games this thing sores, and in time spy it wipes the floor with my 390. Im not sure if its driver immaturity or something wrong with my system, but the only thing ive changed is the driver and gpu, no other hardware changes. Could it be possible my cpu overclock is unstable and causing these issues even though it never was a problem when running the 390? Maybe something got corrupted? Driver support for DX 9 just isnt up to par yet? etc? Hoping for other 5700 xt owners help here, maybe we share some games in common and can test back and forth see if mines performing up to snuff? I really miss my shark vs diver game man :c Ill be online checking this thread for the next hour and a bit, so any help would be great before i head off to bed and give up for the night. Fortnite seems to be the only game i played today that performed as expected with this gpu. GTA 5 stuttered and couldnt run above 60 with drops to 30 on very high settings (1080p) payday 2 ran like crap, Tower Unite had stutters and the list goes on. Thanks in advance dudes.

I want to switch my main Nvidia card to a 5700xt, but I don’t want to loose Cuda access Does anyone know what sort of performance difference there is if I grab a cheap Tesla card to use in conjunction with a 5700xt?

Hi, I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card soon to a 5700xt. Specifically, I've been looking at Asrock's Phantom Gaming 5700xt, but I would like to watercool my next card. Knowing that the Phantom has a custom PCB, I wasn't sure if any reputable waterblock company makes a block that fits this specific card? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks

So, I own a 5700xt which was, until today, working flawlessly. Today i came back to my computer after a long weekend away from it and tried to watch a music video: suddenly the whole tab went black, but audio was still playing. This does not happen with every video, but it does with a lot of them, seemingly at random. If i scroll down, the page is rendered again once i reach the comments (the part where it no longer is showing the video), if i go back up again, whole tab goes dark. If i switch to another tab, its displayed without issues, go back to the tab with the video playing and it goes black again. So far ive discovered it only happens in google chrome, that it doesnt happen with every video, and that if i wait for the video to stop playing, the tab gets rendered again. Is this a driver issue? Why did this issue come out of nowhere?

Ok.. So I'm at hair pulling point.. I know my way around a pc.. am an IT engineer by trade.. but I've an issue that's just got me stumped.. Asus X570 Prime Pro board Ryzen 7 3700x Corsair pro rgb 2x8gb @ 3200mhz MSI Radeon 5700xt mech OC WD 500gb m.2 Seagate barracuda 4tb Corsair 1000w psu So.. did a build, but it took many attempts to get and drivers installed, eventually managed to get through errors.. then lots of bsods anytime I start a game.. I had a vega 64.. thought it could be that.. so ditched that for a 5700xt just coz of the pcie4 support. Anyways.. now it's still doing it.. the workaround is I have to boot up, deinstall drivers from device manager, pull the network cable, reboot in to safe mode, ddu and drivers, reboot, reinstall the amd drivers then, patch the cable back in n it all works beautifully.. but I gotta do this each time I boot up! I've rolled back from adrenaline 2020 but that failed too. So, what do we think??

Hi, My Rig: i7 9700KF Asus z390m Prime Asus Strix 5700xt Seasonic Focus 650w Gold Fresh windows install, fresh GPU driver when test using DDU, all drivers are updated, temps are fine. I get random freezes, black screen - loss of display and sometimes accompanied by auto reset otherwise i need to hard reset, not only when gaming but also when browsing or idle. I started to have this issue when i got my i7 9700KF, so i ran AIDA 64 stress test on CPU, MEMORY, FPU, STORAGE... ETC for hours and had zero errors, smooth test. Could it be GPU compatibility issues with the CPU? as it was running fine before? but my cpu passed AIDA stress test and prime95 stress test as well.? i also ran memtest to check the rams twice with no errors?

Hey guys, first post here. Anyways, I want to get a Valve Index and want some GPU recommendations. I've looking at the Rx 5700xt AIB board by saphire. The 5700xt saphire Nitro (because I love the cooler and want to give my money to people who put alot of effort into the card lol). But I'm a little worried about its ability to push 2 1440p panels at 144hz. I dont care much about ray tracing tbh because I'm dont think itll make a huge visual impact anytime soon. I've been looking at the rtx 2080 also. But am severely leaning toward the 5700 bc of an "openbox" clearance kinda deal. Thae card is 350 at micro center rn lol. Sorry for the novel, thank you for the help : )

Hi everyone, Long time watcher of LTT here (7 years strong!), with my first post on the forum. I have a Corsair CX600M PSU unit. My old GTX 760 broke a while back, so I took out the cable (modular unit) to reduce cable congestion whilst I had no GPU. In typical fashion, I've completely lost it however! I'll be getting a new Red Devil 5700XT on Thursday, but I am having trouble confidently deciding on a replacement power cable here. Does anyone have experience with this PSU? Will a 6pin to 6+8 pin Y split cable work, or do I need two separate 6 pin to 6 pin connectors? Thanks in advance guys!

System: Case: Fractal Meshify C Fans: Additional 2x 140mm intake noctua fans CPU cooler: Dark rock pro 4 GPU: Sapphire pulse 5700 XT So I started the GPU test in Furmark and I opened Global WattMan. What shocked me is that the two apps had totally different readings on my GPU temps So during the test I got the following numbers: Furmark 89 C max, 87-88 C most of the time Global WattMan 74 C max, avg 70 C I got two questions: 1. Which one is correct? What can I do to clarify this? 2. What temps should I be expecting considering the components that I have?

Hi, I have i7 9700, asus strix 5700xt, 8x2 2666mhz hyperx predator ram with GIGABYTE b360m ds3h. I found Asus z390A prime available for trade off with additional 100 dollars. is it worth? 1- Can i run higher clock speeds although CPU is rated to support 2666mhz as per intel website? PS my ram can run 4000mhz+ 2-Can i run all cores at max turbo boost of 4.7ghz? 3- Do the extra 10 PCIE lanes on the board affect or increase performance, CPU OR GPU? 4-Does intel take benefits of higher ram speeds? similar to AMD? Thanks
