(sorry i have a very bad english) Hello, i will build my first PC and i don't know what to chose between a GTX1060 or a RX480. My goal with this futur PC will be to play SKYRIM with ENB (specially Realvion ENB). I want also make some video editing and some Gamemaker stuff. I have already chose a I5 6500 with 8GB RAM and a MSI motherboard. Thank you to help me !!!!

So, I fed into all of the hype over the RX 480 when it was first launched, went into best buy, and purchased the first RX 480 I saw. I later saw that it was an RS model. If I had waited and researched just slightly more I could have purchased a GTR for the same price. Anyways, I am considering an upgrade to my rig for gaming. I want to get the best performance for my money, and am even considering a Ryzen 5 1600X upgrade. That is in the distant future though. Here is my current setup: M5A97 R2.0 motherboard FX8350 over clockable to 4.1GHz with water cooling XFX RX 480 RS GPU 16GB of GSKILLS Ripjaws which are capable of 2133mhz memory speed. I haven't gotten a stable setup at 2133mhz with this mobo though. A Seagate 1TB HDD (Windows 10) and an old Toshiba laptop 500 GB HDD with Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial Xerus (Cheapest Linux setup I've found yet ) So I want to go out and purchase an SSD. I also would like to upgrade my graphics. I can play CoD BO3 at 110FPS with some stuttering and drops occasionally, and want to mitigate those. If I limit the FPS to 60, on very high settings it will occasionally drop to 40 fps. It runs pretty much just as "efficiently" when limited to 60 as when let loose at 110; there are still noticeable drops. Maybe it is my ram. Idk. I would like to crossfire with another RX 480 to try and brute force my problems away. I am lazy. I have read that crossfiring RX 480s have yielded 1080-like results. I definitely need the next best motherboard for this project too. Can you crossfire a "dud" of an RX 480 like my RS with a GTR and get noticeable gains versus crossfiring with another RS? Is crossfiring even a good idea for PC gaming? What future benefits could I also get from crossfiring my GPUs? What is the cheapest AM3+ motherboard for crossfiring? What about cheap motherboards for a Ryzen system? Here is my favorite game list: COD BO3 (and considering purchasing Infinite Warfare) XCOM 2 Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor I have read elsewhere that crossfiring yields different results for different games. Thanks for your time and response.

I have a AMD radeon rx 480 and was wondering why when I connect two monitors and try to play gta 5 or bo3 in extended screen it only plays in one. Do I need a second 480? Thanks!

Hey guys, so i bought a RX-480 DEVIL from amazon arround february, and it worked kinda fine, i started noticed that some games will cause a Weird Crash that will result in No signal and peripherals powering down, but the system will remain on, monitor will only show a black screen as no signal is being outputed, well i Atributed this to a Failing Really Old (5 years PSU) that ive been hammering with loads of diferent components, a Corsair CS 650 80+ GOLD well needless to say, after a while the PSU short circuited and Fried my motherboard too when it died (the new psu was actually in transit and arrived 2 days later) well i upgraded to a New Ryzen system with an EVGA 750W BQ BRONZE PSU not Great, but Good enough for what i have (for some reason the 750w was cheaper than the 600w ones) that aside, i rebuilt my system but the fucking shitass blackscreens keep Hapening @ fucking random @ really diferent games for not so called reasons, killing floor, player uknown battlegrounds, BF1, world of warcraft, it has happened on almost any game, it sometimes happens 5 times a day, and sometimes doesnt happen at all in a week, im going to buy a cheap GPU and RMA my RX 480 as it still has warranty, fuck, everytime i buy something fuccking new it just dies, any tips? theres no crash logs, theres no anything, it will just go to a black screen

The rx 480 oc and performance is still hit and miss lets help each other out. Give advice on what you did for others that ask plz.

I want to get a full cover water block for my RX 480, but I have the Sapphire Nitro+ 8GB version... Does the board have the same layout, or do I need to get my hands on a reference design card to use that water block?
-
So after my first Nitro+480 Card died (with no voltage raised and Temps in the low 60's) which BTW had a stable OC of 1430MHz on stock voltage. I picked up another one of these cards which only OC to 1370MHz with Stock voltage (looks like second one is a dud in the OC department, will at least its lasted for more than a day). I was trying to use 3DMark Fire strike to test my OC to see if its working, but I'm having a hard time as I am getting wild swings in the results. Ok check it out, last night I ran a test at 1415MHz Core Clock, 2250Mhz Memory, +50% Power Limit and +100mV (using my i76800k OC to solid 3.9Ghz) which got me a Overall Score of 12104, 14052 Graphics, 17148 Physics, 4879 Combined. Now I ran the same exact test this morning using the same settings (see settings above) and this is what I get: Overall Score 11771, 13625 Graphics, 17104 Physics, 4731 Combined. So I'm like WTF? I ran 2 other tests using 2 other settings from my spreadsheet trying to compare last nights results (I have a spreadsheet at home using all different combinations running Fire Strike and Heaven, in order to test my OC and see what yields the best results) and they are all lower! This is a real head scratcher to me, so if anyone knows the answer that would be great. It really makes it difficult to test for correct/best settings on a card, when the Scores are all over the place. Thanks

Hello, While changing out the water in my cooling loop, i also thought about upgrading/changing my case. The 900D is pretty nice for what it is, but there's some points which I don't like: - The bottom chamber is completely visible (you'll see the whole PSU cable mess) - The spacing is just too big for an ATX Mainboard - It looks untidy, no matter what I do (blame my OCD or cable management) - The backside behind the Mainboard tray is too shallow, tubes get squished (not a good thing for a watercooling case) The good things however are: - That it's got a window - It's got two 480mm radiator mounts - Up to 9 Drive bays at the same time - A lot of room for reservoirs, etc... NIce, clean optics from the outside So, I am looking for a new case (possibly an upgrade over the current situation, and I hoped someone could help me with their knowledge of what's out there. I already had a look myself, and I came across cases like *a lot of IN WIN stuff*, Caselabs (too expensive although super cool), and the Thermaltake "The Tower 900", which is even bigger than my case. I do have a few requirements: - At least a 360/480 radiator mount - Support for watercooling overall - Support for E-ATX Boards - At least 5 drive slots - Full size ATX power supplies - Can't think of any more, will add if I remember... EDIT: - A Window to show my mainboard (preferebly tembered glass) What am I using at the moment?: - i7 6700k - Gigabyte GA-Z170X-SOC force - HyperX Fury 32GB 2133MHz DDR4 - EVGA GTX Titan 6GB (700-800MHz ) - For storage various drives from Seagate, WD, Toshiba, etc... - Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 1000W - NZXT Hue+ - (4GBps Fibre card if anyone's interested) Watercooling: - EK Supremacy plexi - EK clear tubing - EK Reservoir 125mm - EK DDC 3.2 plexi top - EK Fittings (3/8 I believe) - Alphacool 480mm 15mm thick full copper radiator That should be the list.. I really plan to get a new GPU in the future, mybe a new Titan X Pascal? After getting a new case of course... Anyways, have a nice evening guys! Hope somebody can help me out! Fredi

I tried to figure out why I get so low fps and I noticed that nothing in my setup seems to run at 100%. ( They can run at 100% tho. I've seen it before. ) I'll include a picture of afterburner. I took that picture while running "Cities Skylines" at 18fps (!) although cpu & gpu were both only at about 50%. I don't really know what to check anymore. Mainboard: ASRock N68-GS4 FX CPU: AMD FX-9590 GPU: Sapphire radeon rx 480 nitro+ RAM: 2x 8GB DDR3 I'll include pictures with more specific specs. Thanks in advance!

Hi Guys, I am a pretty bad worrier, and I just never want to make a bad purchasing decision. Im looking to get an RX 480 by Sapphire, and I don't know if these two are the same, as one has OC in the name. I have checked the specs and they seem excactly the same, but like I said before, I am a worrier. Also, there doesn't even seem to be an OC version on the official Sapphire site, but there is OC on the box.... Weird. Here are the links: https://www.computeralliance.com.au/sapphire-rx480-8gb-nitro-oc-pcie-video-card-pn-11260-01-20g#specifications http://www.umart.com.au/newsite/goods.php?id=36072 Thanks in advance. Hi, I'm new to the forum and this is my first post, I have recently just bought two AMD RX 480's and I have been noticing very poor performance in games such as GTA V, Crisis, and even Battlefield 1. I have noticed that despite crossfire is enabled, performance has generally always been better with even just 1 card. I have checked all settings in the AMD control center, and there is nothing that should be hampering the cards. My specs are: Intel i5 6600k (overclocked to 4.4 ghz) 2x Asus Strix AMD 480 8gb Graphics Cards 32gb DDR 4 Venegance Ram 2666 ghz 120gb SSD 1tb HDD Corsair Hybrid Modular 750w power supply. ASRock z170 Extreme 4 Motherboard Nothing in there is overheating whatsoever either. I don't know whether this is a fault with Crossfire (I run everything in dx 11 as dx 12 support for CF is, to say the least, pitiful) or anything else. I am thinking of selling both cards and going out of pocket to buy a GTX 1080 instead. Thoughts?

I bought a XFX RX 480 RS 8gb and installed it into my Gigabyte ga-h110m-s2h, but it seems like the system really doesn't want to detect it. I can guarantee the mobo has a PCI-E 16x slot (it doesn't have a space for the left yellow hook, but the card is not loose). Fans are working and a blue led lights up, proof that the card is correctly powered and the mother-board and the power supply are actually giving power to it. Booting up the PC no signal is given and when checking the device manager with integrated graphics no dedicated GPU is detected. What could it be? A mother board problem? A GPU problem?.

I'm a console peasant as of the moment and I'm buying a gaming pc this christmas with a core i5-6500 and a gpu of ??? well. That is why I'm here I need your help I've been earning money for a long time and have been researching for months but I still can't decide between an RX 480 or a GTX 1060. This is my first ever pc build so please guide me, I don't plan to be overclocking in ANY way. I know that the 1060 seems to be more powerful than the rx 480 but the rx 480 seems to be better suited for the future. Ok so heres what I want, Something that won't break easily and will last really long I mean its really hard to earn this much money for this build I don't want to be upgrading anytime soon I still want to be enjoying my latest AAA games in 60fps for the next 6-7 years..Lot's of people say AMD cards and cpus heat up alot but. Well I won't overclock so I don't get the point of my possible AMD card heating up. Jayztwocents did a review of a GTR XFX RX 480 8GB and it cooled around 60 degrees C.But alot of people keep going for the green team cause of the better power and higher framerates. So please help me with my decision on picking between the GTX 1060 and RX 480 please also include why you picked the card and how it will benefit me. Thank you so much in advance to all! (I'm not biased on either the AMD or Nvidia I just want to have the best experience I can have for the longest time possible thats why I came to you guys for help on deciding) I will also be playing games like. Battlefield 1, GTA V or Witcher 3, Dota/LoL , Arma 3 Basically its a mix of different genre's. FPS, Open-world, Moba, and Strategic Shooter I hope I get to decide what card I would get.

My friend is looking for the best video card under $150, but he can be a little flexible I have the 750 ti, 950, 460, and 470 in mind. And, if we can find a 480 for a good price, i could go with that. What'll it be LTT Forums?

Hey there! I've had a MSI 480 4gb for a long time, but it had a problem and the warranty is giving me my money back so I'm looking at options on the price range of the gtx 1060 and rx 580(which have similar price tags in Brazil) to decide my replacement. Is there a real answer about what's best between the two? Is it as simple as just going with whatever has more VRAM and staying away from known bad manufacturers? Any tips are very welcomed!

OK so I just got a RX 480 8GB, and I noticed you could use AMD eyefinity in profiles for your games. Thats cool i thought so i set it up for all my racing games ( Need For Speed MW, Dirt 3/4) and it worked beautifully for the first 3 weeks, then i go to play those games today and it doesn't work.. it activates for the middle monitor, but not for the 2 side monitors. those don't change. so then the game looks awful squished into the middle screen what should be spread out across all 3. I have one running off a display port adapter, the other off HDMI and the last one off HDMI... oddly enough the left one displays static while playing these games if you turn it off an on, and the right one just sits on the desktop.... i really dont know what is going on as it worked fine for 2-3 weeks, then didn't work today. I updated my drivers, and that didn't change anything, so i updated to 'optimal' and still no change. Used DDU and still no change. WHAT IS WRONG?! any help would be much appreciated, as i'm about at my wits end. (also note: the card still works fine when gaming without EYEFINITY on)

Hi, I'm trying to run a GTX 1080 as my primary gpu for gaming and other productivity workloads on my main display and separately use my RX 480 to drive another display for websurfing/videos in order to offload some of the computational burden from the 1080. I haven't found an immediately obvious way of doing this with Windows 10. Example: So, I'm trying to run R6S on my main display and watch YouTube on my secondary. Both displays are plugged into their own corresponding gpus. R6S starts having seizures and texture aren't being loaded in properly, etc... After checking Task Manager I can see that my GTX 1080 is rendering the YouTube video AND R6S!! Edit: I'd like to have my GTX 1080 work on the game and my RX 480 work on the video independently from one another. HALP MEH PLZ!!!!

I found a used RX480 8gb for 140€. Should I pick it up? The seller said it wasn't used for mining and I could test it right there. I have a 2400G and 8Gigs of RAM, currently There's a 960 2Gig in my Rig.
