Helloooo everyone, here is my recently upgraded rig, will post pictures from the previous build and the new one! ( Well the only thing that changed was the platform but yeah enjoy :D) I called it Gold Ghetto because: 1) for some weird reason it sounds good in my head 2) the motherboard is gold and 3) because some of the things i have done are pretty ghetto mounted and just generally stuff you shouldnt do with a computer! Old Rig: AMD 1090T @ 3.2GHz Corsair H80 w/ 2xAP121 Asus Crosshair IV Formula Zotac GTX 680 Kingston HyperX 8GB 1600MHz CL9 Asus Xonar Essence STX Samsung 840 Pro 128GB OCZ Vertex 2 90GB WD Green 1TB WD Green 500GB Corsair AX 850 Scythe Kaze Master 2 Audio Technica AT2020 USB Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 250 ohm Logitech G500 Logitech G110 Logitech X-530 New Rig Intel 4770k @ 4.2GHz 1.17v Asus Z87 Deluxe Kingston HyperX Beast 16GB 1866MHz CL9 (The rest is the same ) Old system before taking it apart, the case will be changed sooooon! Horrible color scheme i know, ROG board with blue ram, cause YEAH Rear I/O and first ghetto mod, that is my home made fan filter from a curtain, as you see its a stylish red to match ROG LOL. And yeah ive also cut the grill cause... yeah i just did. Bad Color scheme as i said before, better seen here! Old cable management, which i love using tape as you can see :D Ghetto mounted fan where it clearly shouldnt be, with ZIP TIES haha Some close up shots from the beautiful Crosshair IV Formula The old brain of the computer! The H80 with the stock thermal thingy The Antec 902, doesnt have too many cable management holes Sooo the new goodies are right here, people dont like the gold but, yeah it looks good :D And Asus derped here and put the stickers on the connectors and not on the side GG And the beautiful Xonar STX And the new mb/cpu in place, which looks sooo good imo New cable management! Not so different but less tape :D What i used to clean everything, GHETTO The beautiful AT2020!! And the headphones! The most beautiful shot of my rig i think, all black and gold, with that green logo on nvidia! My desk and stuff, screens and blabla Cinebench Score And people REMEMBER TO FOLD!! Thank you for checking out my build, im happy with it, but i will be changing the case out pretty soon and the CPU cooler hopefully! And if you have any questions, feel free to ask! Have a nice day and continue being an awesome forum :D

hey guys, i just recently finished a build. Here are my specs : i7 4770k cpu msi z87 gd-65 motherboard xfx 7870 graphics card 8gb 1600mhz kingston hyper x memory zalman z11 plus case coolermaster extreme 2, 525 watt power supply ran out of budget so my hard drive is a 320g 5400rpm laptop harddrive and also because i'am out of my budget i had to use the stock cooler for the cpu other things that use power with the power supply : razor tiamat 7.1 corsair K90 keyboard corsair M90 Mouse so if you guys don't mind helping me out, is it safe to overclock with all this? i will first get a better cpu cooler before i overclock, stock is just so bad.

Hallo again everyone. So soon ill be upgrading from my Crosshair IV Formula/1090T to a 4770k but since there is a bajillion different boards out there, which one would you recommend? Also which ram do you guys recommend? ( im thinking 2x8GB ( Yes i want 16GB for some reason )) As for budget i dont want to spend over 650euros ( which is the same for dollars, the way they are priced ). So its around 300 for the 4770k, which leaves around 300-400 for the Ram/MB Thank youu and come again

Hi again :) I am soon going to build a new PC for myself this summer and I was wondering on what size PSU I should get. I will be using a 3770k and dual 7970's on a V Gene. According to TDP Calculator, I won't need anything higher than ~600W but i seriously doubt it. My current option is the AX760 due to it's great stock sleeving, fully modular and 80+ platinum. I was wondering whether I should notch it up to an 860, because at full load (after OC), I don't want it dying on me. Also, if my patience holds out, I'll be getting the 4770k with the VI Gene. Please can you also recommend your estimate on what wattage I should use. Looking forward to your responses.

Do these parts seem to make sense? I will wait on the mobo, but I plan on buying the rest of the parts at that point. Also, 770 because of a sale, SSD and 4770k were a gift. I don't really want to pay more than $500 USD. PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3Kt4g Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3Kt4g/by_merchant/ Benchmarks: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3Kt4g/benchmarks/ CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (Purchased For $0.00) Motherboard: MSI Z97-Gaming 3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($148.49 @ Newegg) Memory: A-Data XPG V1.0 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($63.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Intel 730 Series 240GB 2.5" Solid State Disk (Purchased For $0.00) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($54.44 @ Amazon) Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 770 2GB TWIN FROZR Video Card (Purchased For $299.24) Case: NZXT H440 (Red/Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($119.99 @ Amazon) Power Supply: Corsair RM 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($99.99 @ Amazon) Total: $786.14 Actual total at this point: $478.40 Finally, I would kind of like to keep the color scheme/case. This will be used for gaming often enough, some CAD, but mostly dev/programming. I will partition the SSD with a 50GB linux install because I can

Hey everyone! Im planning to build a new Micro-ATX System in the next two-three weeks and im just looking for your opinions about my idea. I already own a 4770K CPU, a Corsair H110 cooler, a Corsair RM650W PSU, a Corsair Force GT 120GB SSD, one Corsair Vengeance 8GB(2x4GB) 1600MHz CL8 KIT (planning to get another kit so 4 dimms alltogether) and an Aerocool Dead Silence Window edition case. http://www.aerocool.us/ds/ds_black.html So the missing parts to get are: Motherboard, Graphics card, more RAM maybe, more SSDs, and another HDD for storage. The imagine it like this: Intel Core i7 4770K CPU Gigabyte G1 Sniper M5 Motherboard 2x Corsair Vengeance 8GB(2x4GB) 1600MHz CL8 KIT so 16GB of RAM EVGA 780Ti Classified Graphics card 2x Samsung 840 EVO 120GB SSDs in Raid0 for the OS 1 Corsair Force GT 120GB SSD for running games from it WD 2TB storage - prefer a USB3.0 external one The Aerocool Dead Silence Window edition case would look awesome with this build in my opinion. With the Gigabyte G1 Sniper M5 Motherboards green colour scheme, i would add a 200mm Bitfenix Spectre Pro Green LED fan in the front, and two 140mm Bitfenix Spectre Pro Green LED fans on the H110 with an additional one for the rear exhaust. The case is modded by the way, so the H110 is fitted completely under the top cover, between the exhaust on the top and the metal frame. Just barely fits. Pictures here: http://imagizer.imageshack.us/a/img845/8117/tsoj.jpg , http://imagizer.imageshack.us/a/img843/3977/zknz.jpg I have always been an ASUS fan with the ROG colour scheme and the quality of the ASUS boards in general. Also, i only used AMD cards before like the: 4870 .5970, 7970. I loved those cards, but got tired of AMD to be honest. The 290X cards are not an option for me at the moment. I could get two of those and sandwich them next to each other, but...yeah...the heat... and unfortunately i cant afford a custom watercooling loop to cool them at the moment. I cant affort a 295x2 either because the price for one of those is between 1500 and 1700 Euros where is live... its horrible. My budget is around 1500 Euros (i live in Hungary) for the parts still missing that i mentioned above. The main goal is to get an outstanding performance (mostly for gaming with a bit of video editing) at 1080p and 1440p on my two monitors (one in use at a time) and maybe to run things okay on the upcoming 4K monitors. (Cant afford a 4K yet eiither, thats something for the future, and by that time i will probably change the graphics card to something that can perform even better there.) So what do you think? I know the colour scheme is a personal taste thing, but still. Would you recommend a Gigabyte Motherboard? I have heard some disturbing opinions about them from my friends before, although im only seeing positive reviews about this particular one. Im still a bit concerned. Looking forward to your replies. Thanks! proppsie

Hi everyone! I had a topic about my 4770K CPU before, and i had to accept that it's a really bad chip. The highest oc. i could achieve on it was 4.2GHz with 1.25V, but recently i had to leave it at stock settings since my temps went f***ing crazy. Now its running stock, turbo up to 3900MHz obviously and i ran some OCCT stress-tests. First test results: Temp max values in celsius: Core 0: 96 (what the hell?) Core 1: 85 Core 2: 78 Core 3: 80 Package: 87 CPU Vcore reading is: 1.26V - is this even normal? Second test results were the same voltage wise, with H110 stock fans: Core 0: 94 Core 1: 72 Core 2: 69 Core 3:71 Package: 82 As you can see the core 0 temp is ridiculous , even the core 1 is too high for stock settings, voltage is on auto etc. And there is a Corsair H110 cooling this chip. The CPU was delidded and thermal paste used is an Arctic MX4. Still using the IHS with the replaces TIM. Edit: room temps went up since it's almost summer time, but not this drastically (from 21-22 to 23-24) What should i do? After deliding, and testing temps were fine, max values were around 82 degrees with the 1.25V on the core and 4.2GHz oc. But after like 15 days temps started going absolutely crazy. I have checked the paste and all, it was fine, not too much, just the right amount... Any ideas what i should do? Set voltages to manual? What should i check? I'm seriously out of ideas, and i'm also pretty disappointed. Thank you in advance!

Here's my rig so far: (for gaming and architectural modelling/rendering) http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3NADX Intel Core i7 4770K Noctua NH D14 MSI Z97 MPOWER MAX AC Corsair Vengeance (Dual) 16GB 1866 CL9 Samsung 840 EVO 500GB 2.5" SSD WD Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200rpm HDD EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3GB KINGPIN Cooler Master Cosmos SE Corsair Professional 750W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Semi-Modular ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition 2 Cooler Master Sickle Flow X 120mm 2000rpm If I change my cpu cooler to a water cooling one (Nepton 280L), do i still need the extra case fans? trying to lower the price of my build but still making sure cooling performs well..its really hot here in the Philippines, freaking hot air during the summer

I can go as high as the 4930K but i'm just wondering if it's worth my money, cause if not then i'd rather get the 4770K, or the 4790K if it comes out soon (which i doubt)…..i'll be using my pc for architectural rendering and modelling, and of course gaming!

Should I go with build A- http://pcpartpicker.com/user/lcater95/saved/4MBi -4770k -R9280X or B- http://pcpartpicker.com/user/lcater95/saved/4MBr -4670k -R9290 This will be a purely gaming build. Normally I would choose option B but I keep hearing people say that games will soon start to utilize 8 cores because PS4 and Xbone do. I'm 1080p now but will crossfire and go 4k when it's ready. Will two 280Xs be able to accomplish this? PS: If you can recommend a better Z97 mobo for the price or less that would be great.

Hey there. I'm wanting to write a speech on the new Z97 chip-set, outlining its features. Now before I ask: I do understand what M.2 and SATA Express is, so people do not harass me in the answers section. I was wondering if you put lets say a 4670K into a Z97 board, will SATA Express and M.2 be available to be used? There have been some subtle hints due to the ASUS ROG boards from Z87 had a M.2 Connector? I saw at CES or ComputeX last year that ASUS also had a SATA Express connector on a Z87 board or was that for the upcoming Z97? Thanks for reading I hope I can get a definite reply soon as I dont want to go out there and buy these new products just for a quick question

I plan on buying a PC soon, i've got all my peripherals down so i just need the CPU. I currently chose already some parts but i'm still unsure whether they will be my final specs. As stated in the title, this will be for gaming and architectural rendering/modelling, and i'd like to use AIO liquid cooling. I will be overclocking. *$2500 = 109225.00 PHP (Philippine Pesos) These 2 are the stores I will be buying from so if you guys could check them out and suggest some builds using the links provided would be great! THE CHEAPER THE BETTER (without sacrificing performance and cooling of course) http://www.tipidpc.com/useritems.php?username=PCHub# http://www.tipidpc.com/useritems.php?username=pcnetmiles PREFERENCES: Intel Core i7-4770K (if 4790K comes out then i'll get that instead) a Z97 Motherboard MSI GTX 780Ti Gaming 3G 16Gb RAM (2x8 or 4x4 doesn't matter, the lower the latency the better) 250Gb SSD (is as high as i can go) Water cooled CPU and GPU (currently dunno where to buy a gpu block) As for my case, i can't seem to decide between the 760T, 750D, 600T Color coordination is appreciated CURRENT CHOSEN SPECS: Thats pretty much it. Still not sure when i'll be able to buy all of this, hopefully soon. Thank to everyone that helps!!

Hi I'm going to build a new pc in June, I was thinking about buying the ASUS sabertooth z97 with a 4770k either a 4790k. I've heard they are coming out around July, will it be worth the wait and will there be much performance difference? Also will they be ridiculously expensive? The 4770k is around £230, I do not want to spend much more than that £270 is the max I would pay, will they be cheaper than that? Thanks for any help

Hey all, first time posting on the forum so bare with me. Previously had an AMD Phenom X4 cpu at 3.2 ghz, cooled by an H100. Got very good temps, basically ambient at idle. Have now upgraded to a 4770k, but I'm getting atrocious temps on it with the H100 I have it running at stock speeds but when at idle the temperature fluctuates anywhere from 30-50c, and I've hit 100c while under 100% load. BIOS even reports 50c. Corsair Link and OpenHardwareMoniter both show same temp, Link says radiator temps are anywhere from 26c at idle to 37c underload. So something is up with the H100. The fans are working The pump is working Everything is clean Water block is seated properly, just how Linus taught me. I've been looking for a cure for hours now. I've reseated the block 4 or five times, each time producing the same results. Specs: Mobo: gigabyte z87x-d3h cpu: 4770k @ 3.5ghz Cooler: H100 Cooler fans: Corsair SP120 X2 Case fans: Noctua NFS-12B X2, and stock case fans X2 Case: Bitfenix ghost Storage: 3 SSDs and 1 HDD Memory: Corsair venegeance 8gb GPU: AMD 7850 PSU: Antec 620W If anyone has some advice, or solution, or questions I'd love to hear it.

Hi there! I'm about to get my computer and i want some tips on overclocking since i'm not used to do it. Maybe more than one of you guys has the same build or similar to mine and did some overclocking. Here it is the most important components of my build: CPU: 4770K GPU: Asus DirectCU II OC 3gb 780 RAM: Corsair Vengance 1866 2x8GB CL9 Motherboard: Asus Maximus Hero VII PSU: Corsair RM650 CPU cooler: Corsair Hydro H100i SSD: Samsung 840pro 128gb HDD: WD Caviar Black 1TB Case: NZXT 820 I found some overclocking guides, but they allways say that if i'm new in to overclocking, i should ask if there's people who has a similar build to yours and did some tests before. My objective: Gaming in Ultra settings, rendering, video editing and designing with photoshop. I'm not a pro in nothing of those but photoshop, Thanks for your help guys! I hope i can help you back! Hey guys, This is my first proper post, so bear with me, I’m having a bit of trouble as to what to upgrade my system/s to, basically I have two systems currently and I’m looking to combine the two to make one single large powerful tower with everything I need on it. One is used for gaming and one is used for just work. I’m a Computing BSc soon to be second year Uni student so I don’t have a whole lot of money at the moment but the computers are getting old and annoying at times, I’m trying to find the best time to sell and buy components. I’m looking to spend £300-450 and preferably go Intel if you guys think it’s worth it. My current specs are Gaming Rig Fractal Design Define R3 AMD Phenom II X6 1090T 3.2Ghz Hex Core Some old ASUS Motherboard with SATAII MSI 560ti Twin Forzer II 1GB 8GB Corsair Vengeance SATA II Intel 80GB SSD (Boot drive) 1TB HDD (Game storage) 250GB HDD (Video editing and downloads drive) OCZ 500W PSU Work Rig Fractal Core 1000 AMD FX4100 3.6Ghz Quad Core Some old MATX Gigabyte Motherboard with SATAII Corsiar XMS 3 4x2GB (8GB) 60Gb Crucial SSD (boot) 500GB HDD (files, Ubuntu boot) GeForce 9500T (don’t care about graphics here, still better than the onboard from gigabyte) Corsair Builder Series 450W PSU I think I have basically backed myself into a corner as the motherboards are SATAII therefore SSD performance is pretty bad, but then I’m sure the AM3+ socket is being ditched so there is no point spending money on getting another motherboard with AM3+. I understand the 1090T is still pretty good compared to the FX6xxx series so is it worth sticking with the old 1090T for the time being or just over to Intel now? But then my graphics card is obviously 2 gen’s behind now and in games like ARMA3 the performance isn’t amazing, I run 2 1080p IPS 24” AOC monitors, but use just the one for gaming. If I were to upgrade my graphics card I refuse to go AMD GPU. What I would like to upgrade my gaming system (to be used for everything from now on) to is: Intel 4770k or 4790k and overclock H80i Asus ROG z97 Samsung EVO 120/256GB SSD And then I would ditch the work system, use the gaming system for everything after the upgrade, I would keep the R3, PSU, RAM, HDD’s and Graphics card from the gaming system and upgrade GPU when the new Maxwell’s come out. I reckon would be able to sell all the unused parts for about £250-300, does this seem about right? Any help would be appreciated, cheers!

So I just got my Swiftech H220, and I am dialing in my OC. Right now, Intel Extreme Tuning is running, and my CPU seems to be stable at 4.3Ghz with 1.2 volts. How good is my chip? Slightly below average? What are somethings I can try to get my clock higher? I don't wanna go too much above 1.2 volts, because I am sitting right at 60 degrees. Should I just be happy with 4.3Ghz at 1.2 volts?
