Hey all, I got a "new" laptop recently, it has the thick active 3D glasses, the demo slides and the animation in the Nvidia Control Panel work fine and look great. But whenever I try to run games it doesn't pick up the 3D most of the times. I use the 3D Fix Manager, but for the games that it just doesn't pick up like BO2 I installed the fix manually. A good example I think is how GTA 5 went, It will revert the 3D stereo option to off almost every time. Then I try the 10th time and it's on ON but I don't see any depth. I managed to start it in a way that I could see the depth but when I restarted it was gone again. DMC 4 is another one that I tried, the demo pic looks great but with and without the fix it just doesn't work. I don't do anything before the beep of the fix but nothing, F10 makes a beep but nothing happens, f1-3 also don't do anything to the UI depth. I also didn't get Crysis 2, NFS 1 and OW to work. Please tell me there's someone here who know what I'm doing wrong! I would love to use the 3D for movies and games.

3d printers 3D Printer choice that i`m struggling with
NSOrdinary posted a topic in Hobby Electronics
so here i`m again. looking for assistance on choosing between 2 3d printers i have been looking videos for few days. so here are my 2 options: Creality Ender 3 V2 Creality Ender 3 Pro Idea at the moment is to get something that i cant print some fpv accessories for my upcoming builds. When it comes to prices. there aren't much difference (~40 Eur) between them. And plus importing via amazon them to ireland. (Have prime, but lately few pc things makes me pay import, idk why) So my question is not about witch one prints better or faster. But which one would be better choice for occasional print. at the moment i don't plan anything but fpv parts. maybe.i will print few toys for my goddaughter. like those octopuses or whatever. Who knows. what comes to modding of these 2 printers. i have general idea what i could try to do. to make the a bit silent and few other things. Maybe some of you already have one or both of these, maby you can tell me your thoughts on these aswell and maybe suggest something. Thanks in advance… :)*- 7 replies

Budget (including currency): $10,000 US Dollars Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: MAXON ONE specifically Cinema 4D, Redshift, Adobe Suite. I'm a 3D Generalist and the goal is to build a workstation monstrosity this will be my first PC Build and I want to build something lasting that I won't need to update soon. Current Peripherals: - Monitor: Samsung 49" Odyssey G9 Ultra Wide (Don't plan on getting more) - Keyboard - Need to purchase a keyboard preferably mechanical like the look of the IQUNIX F97. Open to more recommendations looking for full size. - Mouse - Need a mouse as well, my current one is a cheap logitech that comes in the pack with the keyboard. Current Hardware: - Graphics Cards: 2 Geforce RTX 3080s ($799 each, total spend $1600) Planned Hardware: - CPU: Intel i9 12900K - Motherboard: Need help finding a motherboard that optimizes the performance of 2 graphics cards. There are a lot of motherboards out there that promote x16 pcie lanes but when both are populated they only run at x8. I know that affects the performance of the graphics cards. Does it affect it enough to matter? Is the difference negligible when it comes to rendering performance? Need the most help here. - Memory: 128GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro - Storage: Samsung 970 EVO 1TB M.2 Solid State Drive (looking for some help on options for additional storage as well, working with 3D often creates large project files so I want to be able to have an additional hard-drive to store all that on that has enough read write speeds to not have it be a pain opening up files and such.) - Power Supply: Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 1600 G2 80+ GOLD 1600W - Case: Fractal Design Define XL R2 Titanium Big Tower Case Open to all feedback, want this build to be great! Thank you in advance for your help!

Budget (including currency): $3500 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: for modeling and both CPU and GPU rendering in Cinema 4D and Blender, plus Unreal Engine 5 and other visual arts software. I'll be rendering large scenes and still images, about 10-20 minutes each. It's unlikely I'll be rendering animation frames. Other details This is my first build, so I'd greatly appreciate feedback. I won't be overclocking. It won't require future expansion. It's important for this PC to be reasonably quiet. PCPartPicker list AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 3.4 GHz 16-Core Processor Noctua NH-U12A 60.09 CFM CPU Cooler Gigabyte X570S AORUS MASTER ATX AM4 Motherboard G.Skill Ripjaws V 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 10GB LHR 10 GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING LHR Video Card Fractal Design Define 7 Compact ATX Mid Tower Case Corsair HX Platinum 1000 W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply Microsoft Windows 11 Pro OEM 64-bit I'm going for the Ryzen 5950X because it runs 10°C cooler than the i9-12900K. GIGABYTE X570S AORUS Master motherboard because it's newer, has plenty of 10gbps USB, no chipset fan, 2.5gbps Ethernet. Samsung 970 EVO drive only because it's a popular purchase. Compact case because it's lighter and smaller. 1000W PSU because it costs about the same as an 850W & PSUs operate at peak efficiency when using half their potential. I'm probably going for an LG monitor, unless someone knows of a better brand. I'm interested in hearing opinions, especially any red flags you might see.

Planning to do some 3d rendering (not professionally for now). Just wondering how big does ram impact rendering or even just 3d modelling, and if 32 is enough . I know vram is important but what about the standard ram . In term of what I'll be rendering, would probably mostly be a whole scene, than just an item.(wanna try rendering background for my illustrations ) Resolution would also be fairly high i think (4k+)

Hello all, I have been having this issue when I've gone and updated my GPUs driver. I am currently running a 3070ti on the 517.48 firmware with no issues. Whenever I update my driver the 3D constantly spiked between any% and 100% even when nothing is going on. I can't seem to find anything regarding this issue on the interwebs! This issue has been present in every driver NVIDIA has released since the version I am currently on.

how do i upgrade my 32gb RAM to 64gb on a later time? Money constraints. That is why i just opted for a 32gb in the meantime so i can start on working. I do After Effects (video renders & editing, motion graphics, animation), Photoshop, graphic designs, some 3d modeling & sculpting. Recommended to me was to get a 64gb RAM for the creative work. Will use this all for work and no gaming. I got a G.Skill Ripjaws 32gb Dual kit / 3600mhz / ddr4 / cl16. Board- MSI PRO Z690-A WIFI DDR4 (memory slots = 4) CPU- Intel i5 12600K So.... how do i upgrade my 32gb RAM as 64gb on a later time? 1. is it better if i should just replace it with a new 64gb (16gb x4 sticks) later? 2. or can i just add another dual 32gb (of same specs) making them a total of 4 sticks (32gb dual + 32gb dual) 3. Will there be an issues with my option2?? ...since i know it is recommended to get RAMs by kits and not mix 4. What will be the difference (for creative work, NO Gaming) of a 64gb-pack-of-4-sticks...VS...two-kits-of-dual32gbs(having 64gb in total)? Provided they have the same specs of 3600mhz / ddr4 / totaling 64gb. 5. Furthermore question in case you are still reading.... will there be an issue (there's always a "but") two-kits-of-dual32gbs if they have different latencies? For example- i have an existing cl16 from my 32gb dual kit today. But only cl18 (but same 32gb dual 3600) is available at the time i can buy/upgrade later. So, is there a big issue in this case?

Hey Guys, i recently upgraded my the GPU and PSU of my current machine : CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 GPU: 4090FE PSU: Corsair HX1200 MOBO: MSI mpg x570 RAM: 16GBx2 DDR4 Case: Antec p101 I want to upgrade the rest of my machine soon (1-2 months), usage is pretty much everything: 3D work and rendering with Daz3d and Blender, Gaming, Encoding(HVEC,AV1,WEBP), media, browsing, etc. Budget is hard to say, exactly, but it's very flexible. I don't want to go balls to the wall dream build, i need help finding a good spot that will not bottleneck the 4090. Here are my thoughts: CPU – I want to go AM5, and i think the 3D work will be most impacted here. I won't go 7600 but im not sure i need to get a 7900X. Id like something before the big diminishing returns. RAM – No idea, DDR5 2X32 probably? MOBO – Pretty clueless here, is the "cheapest" that support all of my components good enough? (don't need Wi-Fi) CASE – I've been thinking about the 5000D, and filling it with 120mm AIO - was thinking about a 240 or 360 exhaust on the top Haven't built in over 3 years, so sightly clueless.

I'm trying to develop a Swift menu bar app that switches between the iGPU and the dGPU of a MacBook Pro. I've got the menu bar part right, but can't get the GPU switching working. I tried to have a look at some examples and compare code. I tried to use: let defaultDevice = MTLCreateSystemDefaultDevice() but it doesn't seem to do anything. All I want is for the dGPU to activate when I select the dGPU option in the menu, and for it to deactivate when I select the iGPU option. I understand that there is already an app to do this but it is quite old, forces the one GPU or the other (instead of simply requesting it), and I would prefer to do it myself in a leaner package. Any help will be appreciated.

Hey guys, I've got a BENQ XL2420T monitor, which supports nVidia 3D vision. I'd like to get a pair of glasses, but I'm finding many cheaper alternatives to the nVidia route. Would different glasses work, i.e. "Active Shutter Glasses"? And would I have to get the nVidia emitter for that? Can't seem to find the info anywhere, so asking here P.S. fold strong!

Lately, I've been interested in building my own server and have been looking into the things I could use it for. One use that caught my eye was using it as a render server for your 3D and video editing. So yes, this is a noobs question but when I'm doing all my work on my main desktop, how do I get a separate server machine to do all the rendering work for it? Thanks.

I am having an issue where cinema 4d freezes randomly and sometimes never recovers requiring me to close it from task manager. I am working on renderings of fairly large scenes, but the cpu is barely used and my ram is never over 30%. When this occurs, the memory usage of c4d gets stuck and does not change. this occurs sometimes in other software as well, but c4d/octane is the majority of my workflow. Is there something I can do about this? I need to be able to speed up my workflow and this is a big hindrance. specs: cpu: i9 7900x ram: 64gb gskill 3200 gpu: 1080ti, 2080ti mobo: msi tomahawk ac os drive: samsung 970 evo 1tb

Im building a PC for video editing (Premiere pro, After effects ) and some 3d work (C4d, blender, Octane). My Macbook pro just isn't cutting it anymore. Im in the US and have a budget of 2,500-2,700 including a monitor and keyboard. I want to use two 1920 x 1080, 23"monitors. I want to be able to upgrade to get into GPU rendering eventually as well as get into some light overclocking. Hey guys, I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I really need some help... I'm working on making a film, however I've been stopped dead in my tracks. The film I'm making is about the SCP foundation, and there aren't many high quality models on websites like sketch fab that I can use. Particularly, I need a model of a Mobile Task Force Unit. After searching all over the web and having no luck, I decided to try and rip some custom models from games like Garry's Mod and Arma 3. I quickly realized that I suck at ripping game models because I cannot align the textures with the solider when I use Arma 3, and I cannot find the textures corresponding to a certain mesh when I use Gary's Mod. I used the following programs: Blender - the place where I will animate everything Ninja-ripper - a program I used to rip model files from arma 3 Noesis - a program to quickly view 3d meshes without having to import them all Gimp - the program i use to identify textures Gmad Extractor - the program i used to extract files from Gary's Mod Addons Crowbar - the program i used to convert files from Gmad Extractor into something usable by blender. I've given up on ninjaripper and Arma 3 due to the fact that the textures won't align with the meshes, so I'm working with the Gary's Mod files for now. Gary's mod would be easy to work with if it wasn't for the fact that the models I'm ripping have a ton of different parts. If anyone thinks they might know how to either get the Gary's mod files or better yet, the arma 3 files working, please let me know. I've searched everywhere and I really don't know what to do at this point. Here's a link to the addon page for Gary's Mod if anyone can figure it out: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1687982696download.jfif If someone does know how to rip model files, these are the two MTF soldiers I'm going for. Thank you so much for reading this far. I am deeply sorry that this may not be in the right place but I really need some help. If you need any more information please contact me. download (1).jfif

Hey people! So I start university (considered college to some) and I really need a laptop that can handle 3D Animation software, rendering, gaming, and some graphic design software (Adobe CC, mainly) as I'm going to be travelling quite a bit and will need something potentially useable on the go (or at least something that I can bring with me to plug in somewhere else). I've been looking around, but I honestly don't know enough to make a confident choice. I know Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 is pretty much the best graphics card out at the moment, but I doubt I'll be able to gather the funds in time for when I start uni to get something this powerful. I've also seen that AMD's Ryzen cards are good, but I still don't know enough to make any sort of comfortable guess. I know there's more to a computer/laptop, but GPU's and CPU's are the limit to my knowledge at the moment. I don't really have a price point in mind, but I think an upper limit of around £2400 (around $3000 USD) is the most I can come up with. Any information will help. I don't mind if you give me a complete laptop or a complete list of parts and some links to show me how to put it together. I'm good at taking apart PS4/XBOX ONE controllers, so I can't imagine I'd struggle with putting a laptop together too much (if I have enough videos to watch for guidance, that is). Thanks in advance!

Hey guys, so in the last 20 days, I got into my head to try and come up with a new custom case design. Not only to test my skills in SketchUp, as I haven't used it for years, but also to test and learn a bit more about pc case design. The idea came to me when I saw the Fractal Design Era case. and... I loved the case, honestly. It was simple, beautiful and sleek. No rgb, no glass or acrylic or any of those. It isn't to say that I dislike them, but I can overlook them pretty easily. But two things bothered me with it. Cable management was the first, the second was the airflow. So far, this is the base I've developed. A bit stuck in terms of outside design now but, what do you think? (Size is 162mm x 318mm x 359mm (WxDxH))

Budget (including currency): $1500 Australian Dollars Country: Australia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Looking for a mid-range “Bang For Buck” build to get started with 3D rendering in Blender and Composition with After Effects. Some gaming on the side. Other details: Want this to be a base build that can be upgraded into the future as workload increases. Keep it Ryzen. Happy if you give me an upgrade pathway too guys.
